Allahabad HC Warns Of Majority Hindus Becoming Minority Due To Religious Conversions, Calls For Religious Gatherings Where Conversions Take Place To Be Stopped

The Allahabad High Court on 1 July 2024 issued a stern warning that the majority population of India could become a minority if religious gatherings facilitating conversions are not curtailed. The observation was made by Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal while dismissing the bail plea of an accused under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021.

Justice Agarwal was hearing the bail plea of Kailash, who was accused of taking people from his village to attend religious gatherings in New Delhi where they were allegedly converted to Christianity. The court noted that if such practices continue, the demographic balance of the country could be significantly altered.

“If this process is allowed to be carried out, the majority population of this country would be in minority one day,” Justice Agarwal stated. Such religious congregations where conversions are taking place should be immediately stopped.”

The court highlighted that Article 25 of the Constitution of India guarantees “freedom of conscience and free profession, practice, and propagation of religion” but does not sanction conversion from one religion to another. “The word ‘Propagation’ means to promote, but it does not mean to convert any person from his religion to another religion,” Justice Agarwal explained.

The court further observed that the unlawful conversion of people from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and economically poor sections to Christianity was rampant throughout Uttar Pradesh. “Unlawful activity of conversion of people of SC/ST castes and other economically poor persons is being done at a rampant pace throughout Uttar Pradesh,” Justice Agarwal noted.

During the bail hearing, the court was informed that the complainant’s brother, along with several villagers, was taken to a “well-being” gathering in Delhi by the accused, Kailash. The complainant alleged that many of these individuals never returned home, implying that they were converted.

Advocate Saket Jaiswal, representing the accused, argued that the victim, Ramphal, had not converted to Christianity and that he merely attended the gathering. Jaiswal also pointed out that another individual, Sonu Paster, who conducted the religious gatherings, had already been granted bail.

Despite these arguments, the court found the allegations against Kailash serious and denied his bail plea. “This Court, prima facie, finds that the applicant is not entitled to bail. Hence, the bail application of the applicant involved in the aforesaid case crime is hereby rejected,” Justice Agarwal ruled.

Additional Advocate General PK Giri and Additional Government Advocate Sunil Kumar represented the state, supporting the need for stringent actions against such conversions to maintain social harmony.

“Get The Application, We’ll Give It To Them After Elections”: DMK Minister EV Velu Assures Women Who Complained Of Not Getting ₹1000 Monthly

During a visit to a local village in Vikravandi Assembly constituency, DMK minister E.V. Velu faced criticism and controversy over the implementation of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, a women’s entitlement scheme. The scheme promises ₹1,000 monthly to eligible women, but many villagers expressed dissatisfaction saying that they did not receive the money.

As Minister E.V. Velu interacted with a group of women, he inquired whether they had been receiving the promised ₹1,000. The women present responded negatively, to which the minister instructed his team to collect applications from those who had not received the funds, assuring them that the issue would be addressed in time after the elections.

One woman boldly questioned the delay, asking why they had not yet received their entitlements. “Are the people who got it my relatives and those who didn’t are not?” he quipped, trivializing the woman’s genuine concern. The minister further shifted the blame onto the women, accusing them of not properly filling out the necessary applications.

“Drugged People Threaten Driver With Knife, Seize Cell Phone & Cash”: Security Concerns At Kasimedu Port; Chennai Container Transport Association Urges Action

The Chennai Container Transport Owners Association has lodged a complaint with the Kasimedu fishing port police station, expressing the urgent need for enhanced security measures. They cited incidents of knife-point robberies targeting lorry drivers during the early morning hours in the port area.

The association highlighted that areas spanning Minjur, Manali, Mathavaraam, Ponneri, and Thiruvetriyur are particularly vulnerable to serious robberies by individuals under the influence of ganja. These perpetrators obstruct lorries and steal cash and cellphones from drivers. As a solution, the association has requested continuous patrols from Surya Narayana Road to Ports Zero Gate to safeguard the area. The association has also voiced concerns that if the menace is not contained, it could spread to urban areas, causing distress among the general public.

Speaking to the reporters a member said, “There is no security from the toll gate to the zero gate Power Kuppam. At nights, five to six people after smoking ganja often come to the drivers threaten them with a knife, seize their cell phone and cash  regularly. On Friday last week, there was a similar complaint, four drivers were robbed of their money and mobile phones by two people at the same time, the name of the transport was Sri Om Shakti Transport and the owner of the transport was Dhanasekhar, his driver immediately called 100 during the incident, and within 10 minutes the authorities came and caught one of the perpetrator on the spot, they brought the accused to the N4 station and seized his cell phone and bike.”  Later he said, “It is happening for the past one year. Only last month the corporation had put the public lights here, there was no light before.

“Everyone Begins Their Political Journey With Chief Ministerial Aspirations”, VCK Chief Thirumavalavan Takes A Dig At Actor-Turned-Politician Vijay

The 27th anniversary of the tragic deaths of six individuals, including Panchayat Council President Murugesan in 1997, was solemnly observed in Melavalavu village near Melur. Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol Thirumavalavan MP, and VCK MLA Balaji and other dignitaries paid homage by laying floral wreaths.

Addressing the gathering, Thirumavalavan subtly criticizing the actor-turned-politician Vijay, “They began their political journey with aspirations to become chief minister now. They proclaim themselves as the next Chief Minister. I came to politics for the people. Don’t expect flower garland; be prepared for handcuffs. That was my declaration at the age of 27. It is essential to politicize the populace.”

Reflecting on the tragic Melavalavu incident, Thirumavalavan stated there was a strong urge to retaliate, but responsibility restrained him. He said he transformed protests into political movements, which eventually led to my parliamentary journey through VCK. Later remarked, This is a dedicated struggle. We’ve become an influential political force with 4 MLAs and 2 MPs, challenging constitutional norms. Upon entering Parliament, Prime Minister Modi reverentially touched the Constitution.”

Later speaking to reporters at Madurai airport, Thirumavalavan emphatically stated that the government must take decisive action to completely ban liquor. He announced that the VCK would organize a statewide protest to advocate for this cause. Addressing the Congress party’s proposal to open toddy shops as an alternative, Thirumavalavan cited Mahatma Gandhi’s staunch stance against alcohol in any form, including toddy, highlighting Gandhi’s clear position on the matter.

“Those Call Themselves Hindu Do Hate & Violence 24×7”: Rahul Gandhi Says, PM Modi Hits Back

During a Lok Sabha session on July 1, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi displayed an image of Lord Shiva and mentioned that the Hindu deity had become a refuge for the opposition during challenging times. However, Speaker Om Birla objected, referencing rules that prohibit the display of placards or signs in the House. Gandhi responded by accusing the ruling coalition of preventing the display of the god’s image.

Gandhi remarked, “The snake around Shiv ji’s neck teaches that one should never be afraid… I am happy and proud to be in the opposition because, for us, there is more than power, there is truth.

He further elaborated on the significance of the trishul behind Lord Shiva’s left shoulder, saying, “It is not a symbol of violence; it is a symbol of non-violence, which is why it is positioned where Shiva cannot easily reach it with his right hand.

Gandhi continued, “If it were a symbol of violence, it would be held in his right hand,” emphasizing that the opposition fights the ruling party with truth and non-violence. He connected the Congress party’s election symbol to the abhay mudra of Hinduism, representing truth, fearlessness, and non-violence.

He further said “Those who call themselves Hindu, 24×7 they do violence, violence, violence and hate, hate hate“.

Gandhi also referenced religious teachings from the Quran, Guru Nanak Dev, Jesus Christ, and Lord Buddha, highlighting their messages of fearlessness. He contrasted these teachings with those who, he claimed, promote violence, hatred, and lies, asserting, “You are not a Hindu. Hinduism clearly states to stand by the truth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi objected to Gandhi’s remarks, stating, “This is a serious matter. They are calling the whole Hindu society violent.” Rahul Gandhi later clarified that his criticism was directed not at the Hindu society but at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

He said that criticizing BJP and RSS was not criticism of Hindus.

Telangana: Preacher & YouTube Channel VKR Gospel Media Owner Vijay Kumar Accused Of Defrauding Tribals Of ₹12.5 Lakhs; Had Earlier Derogated Bharat Mata

A plea has been submitted to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) by a social worker from Mokkampadu Village, Tekulapally Mandal, Bhadradri-Kottagudem District, Telangana, alleging that Yalamanchili Vijay Kumar, operator of VKR Gospel Media (a YouTube channel based in Hyderabad), defrauded 50 tribal residents of ₹12.5 lakhs under the guise of a bogus government scheme.

According to the complaint, the incident began on 8 February 2023, when Suresh, a 35-year-old tribal man, along with other villagers, met with the District Collector of Bhadradri-Kottagudem to discuss local issues. After leaving the Collector’s office, they were approached by Yalamanchili Vijay Kumar, who introduced himself as a pastor and operator of VKR Gospel Media. Kumar claimed to have connections to a “Nehru Yojana Scheme” supposedly introduced by the Central Government, which promised returns of ₹10 lakhs for a membership fee of ₹25,000.

Kumar reportedly convinced the villagers to join the scheme, assuring them of substantial financial benefits. On 16 February 2023, 50 tribal residents from Tekulapally and Illendu mandals collectively paid ₹12.5 lakhs to Kumar at the Kothagudem District Collector’s office.

However, after the payments were made, the promised benefits never materialized. Subsequent attempts to contact Kumar via the provided phone number were unsuccessful, leading the villagers to believe they had been defrauded.

The social worker, Arya, who brought the issue to light, emphasized the vulnerable position of the tribals who live in the agency area and primarily work as laborers. The scheme had offered them hope for financial relief, only to result in significant monetary loss.

In her plea to the NHRC, Arya has requested a thorough investigation into the matter and appropriate legal action against Yalamanchili Vijay Kumar. She provided detailed contact information for Kumar and the address of VKR Gospel Media in Hyderabad.

The social worker and the affected tribal residents are now seeking justice and the return of their hard-earned money, urging authorities to take swift and decisive action against the accused.

It is noteworthy that the same Vijay Kumar who also goes by Reverend Vijay Kumar, made derogatory remarks against Bharat Mata in 2017. He had questioned “There can be only one father to a family, not many fathers. This concept of mukkoti devata, 3 crore devatas is wrong. Whoever believes in or prays to 3 crore devatas will go to hell – these are not my words, but these are words of devudu (Jesus)…How many husbands does Bharat Mata have? Jesus is the father of the world.”

He was arrested and remanded for 15 days in this matter. Interestingly, this video is still available on YouTube.

Additionally, he had also demanded for the creation of a Christian India.

Tirunelveli: Palayamkottai CSI Council Workers Insult Local Deity, Distribute Leaflets For Missionary Propaganda; Council Issues Apology After VHP, Bajrang Dal Intervention

In a recent incident that sparked outrage in North Vijayanarayanam village, Tirunelveli district, workers from the Palayamkottai CSI Council have been accused of insulting the local deity, Vijayanarayana Othappanai Sudalai. The incident occurred a day after the endowment ceremony of the Arulmiku Othappanai Sudalai temple.

Local villagers, along with members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, took action by handing over the accused council workers to the police. The workers were reportedly engaged in religious propaganda, attempting to sway devotees and undermine their faith.

The council workers were found distributing leaflets and recording the number of households in each village, which seemed to be a clear indication of their intention to promote their religious agenda without the necessary permissions. This act was perceived as a direct affront to the long-standing religious beliefs of the Hindu community in the area.

In response to the incident, calls have been made for the implementation of a Prohibition of Religious Conversion Act to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Apology Issued By Palayamkottai CSI Council

Following the backlash, the Palayamkottai CSI Council issued an apology, acknowledging their actions and the distress caused. The council admitted that on 30 June 2024, at around 11:00 AM, they visited the predominantly Hindu village of Vijayanarayanam without obtaining the necessary permission to conduct their campaign. They expressed regret for any offence caused and committed to refraining from entering the village or distributing leaflets without proper authorization in the future.

The council assured the community that should they fail to adhere to these guidelines, they would accept the legal consequences as per police regulations. The apology emphasized their pledge to respect the religious sentiments of the community and avoid any actions that might undermine the faith of the local devotees.

Viral Video Shows Anti-India Graffiti Along Mettupalayam And Kotagiri Road In TN Amid NEET Controversy

Anti-India slogans were found on the crash barriers installed along the Mettupalayam and Kotagiri Road. One illegally painted graffiti in English read, “India impose NEET. Tamil Nadu Quit India,” while another in Tamil stated, “Down with India” (India Ozhiga). A concerned citizen captured this etching on video and shared it on social media, causing it to quickly gain viral. Police have been urged to take immediate action in response to this incident.

Against the backdrop of the Tamil Nadu Assembly’s unanimous resolution on 28 June 2024, opposing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and urging the central government to approve the state’s NEET exemption Bill, it is coincidental that graffiti expressing anti-India sentiments appeared on crash barriers between Mettupalayam and Kotagiri roads. The resolution, initiated by Chief Minister M K Stalin, reaffirmed the state’s longstanding objection to NEET, citing its adverse impact on medical education opportunities for rural and underprivileged students, and deeming it unnecessary for school education.

The resolution called for the abolition of NEET and urged the Union Government to approve Tamil Nadu’s NEET exemption bill, which proposes admitting medical students based on 12th-grade marks. It criticized NEET for promoting malpractices and recommended amendments to the National Medical Commission Act for its nationwide abolition.

The Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Medical Degree Courses Bill, 2021, also known as the NEET exemption Bill, remains a contentious issue between the DMK government and the Tamil Nadu Governor’s office, awaiting approval from the President of India.

Exploiting these sentiments, miscreants defaced road crash barriers with anti-India slogans.

Kallakurichi School Riot Case: SIT Questions VCK Dist.Secy Dravida Mani As High Court Criticizes Delayed Investigation

On 1 July 2024, the Special Investigation Team probing the Kallakurichi Kaniyamoor private school riot case conducted an inquiry into Dravida Mani, the Secretary of the Cuddalore West Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) Party.

This investigation stems from the events following the mysterious death of a female student on 13 July 2022, at the Kaniyamoor private school near Chinna Salem in Kallakurichi district. Subsequently, protests by the student’s mother led to a riot on 17 July 2022, resulting in widespread looting at the school premises.

As a consequence, both the Collector and SP were transferred, and the case, encompassing both the student’s death and the ensuing riot, has been taken up by the CBCID police and a Special Investigation Team. Legal proceedings are underway at the Kallakurichi District Chief Criminal Justice Arbitration Court.

In response to a petition filed by the school management in the Madras High Court, highlighting the formation of the Watts Committee to investigate the riots and alleging coordination by Dravida Mani and the student’s mother, the Special Investigation Team summoned Dravida Mani. In this regard, Dravida Mani appeared before his lawyers at the office of the Special Investigation Team near Kallakurichi Police Station regarding the Kallakurichi Kaniyamoor Riot Investigation.

Madras High Court Criticizes Delay In Inquiry Amid Kaniyamoor Riot Allegations

On 27 June 2024, the Madras High Court criticized the Kallakurichi police for not yet questioning the mother of a Class XII girl, whose death at a private school sparked violent riots in Kaniyamoor village in July 2022. Despite allegations from the school correspondent that the woman and a politician had incited the rioters, the court expressed dismay, questioning why the inquiry into these individuals had not commenced.

Justice G Jayachandran, presiding over the bench asked, “Are you waiting for an auspicious day to inquire them,” during the hearing of  C Ravikumar, the school correspondent seeking to transfer the investigation of four criminal cases related to the 2022 riots, rebuked the delay, asking rhetorically if the police were waiting for an opportune moment to conduct the inquiries. Ravikumar, who managed both Sakthi Matriculation School and ECR International School on the same campus where the incidents occurred, claimed that following the suicide of student R Srimathi on 13 July 2022, false information spread by the girl’s mother and the local politician led to widespread unrest.

The petitioner alleged that the girl’s mother had demanded a hefty compensation from him and, upon refusal, orchestrated a social media campaign accusing the school of involvement in human sacrifice, accompanied by hashtags like #JusticeforSrimathi, falsely insinuating rape and murder. This misinformation fueled a mob that vandalized school property, assaulted police officers, and looted valuables from Ravikumar’s residence.

Despite the registration of multiple FIRs, the police had not interrogated the mother, or the politician mentioned, which the petitioner lamented. In response, a government counsel informed the court that efforts were underway, including the examination of recovered mobile phones and awaited forensic reports.

However, Justice Jayachandran dismissed these explanations, emphasizing that statements from the accused should have been recorded long ago, and if evidence warranted, they should have been charged accordingly. He directed the investigating officer to complete the necessary inquiries promptly and adjourned the proceedings to 3 July 2024, granting a week for compliance.

“1414 Stolen Idols Housed In Washington DC, 35 Stolen Idols In London”, Ex-Idol Wing Officer Ponn Manickavel Slams HR&CE, Urges Action On Temple Idol Theft And Preservation

With the slogan ‘Protect the temple and reclaim its rights,’ a spiritual gathering of various organizations in Trichy convened at Sri Sumangali Mahal in Trichy Thiruvanaikoil Vibhuti Prakaram. Former Inspector General of Police Ponn Manickavel took part in the event and delivered a special address focusing on safeguarding temple assets.

In a prior interaction with the media, Manickavel emphasized that the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments department should solely handle administrative tasks. He said that it was not acceptable to say that they perform Kumbhabhishekam for six thousand temples and making excuses for not recovering lost idols. Manickavel stated, “If asked, they say we performed Kumbabhishekam to six thousand temples. Keep Kumbabhishekam in your head and perform it. Who should perform Kumbhabhisekham? Kumbham is the final ceremony. HR&CE should only perform administrative works; the dumb department is taking it up Kumbabishegam and doing that. Already, there is a department in the government for that, which department? It is Archaeological department.”

He expressed dismay at political apathy towards the recovery of idols, “Udayachandran is there. He doesn’t know the job. If you put him here, he will work, if you put him there, won’t he work? Should he perform there? Shouldn’t he work and take it up or not? What is the meaning for being silent, talent should be shown everywhere.”

Later, Ponn Manickavel clarified that there was a misunderstanding in earlier interpretations regarding idols found underground, attributing their concealment to neglect during the Mughal era. He explained that these idols, known as Utsavar Moorthi, were metal-carved deities used during the Chola era for processions that allowed common people who couldn’t visit the temple to participate in worship.

He further stated that a significant number of looted idols, totaling 1,414, are housed at Washington DC and 35 of them are housed in  Victoria and Albert Museum in London following their smuggling abroad by Subash Chandra Kapoor. He said that all parties implicated in these thefts should be held accountable. Later addressing the figurines of deities at museums ought to be relocated to temples and not treated merely as exhibits, Manickavel questioned why the government kept idols in the Madras Museum, while idols in London are viewed as art by people of different religions, whereas we worship them. He questioned the purpose of exhibiting deities in Chennai.

Despite Chief Minister Stalin being urged to document 3.5 lakh idols, no progress has been made. He questioned whether legal action is the sole recourse and why the government has not intervened.

Recent announcements in the police budget by Chief Minister Stalin have stirred disappointment and outcry. Despite the government compensating victims of illicit alcohol consumption handsomely, efforts to recover stolen idols in Tamil Nadu have been fruitless despite multiple appeals. Numerous ancient temples in Tamil Nadu lie in disrepair and demand restoration. Resources from private donors, not just government coffers, are available for temple revitalization.

Later stating the plight of petitions, despite 150 court orders issued thus far, none have been effectively implemented by the government. The commissioner overseeing the HR&CE department was criticized as authoritarian. Manickavel said, “Net result is zero, I’m living here… How many times should I go to the court, is this my work? Then what should be done? If the government abolishes the HR&CE Act, there is no need for all this”

It has been claimed that around 34,119 temples have already been demolished. Apparently, in 2012, a staggering 2,622 idols were stolen nationwide. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, expected to confront the central government and secure the return of these idols, has maintained a troubling silence on the matter, he said.
