PM Modi Interacts With Tribal Community In Jharkhand, Reaffirms Govt’s Commitment

PM Modi Interacts With Tribal Community In Jharkhand

During his visit to Hazaribagh on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the tribal community in Jharkhand that the central government was fully committed to addressing their concerns and prioritising their development. He emphasised the government’s commitment to the uplift of tribal-dominated regions, unveiling a series of development plans.

He said, “Today I feel proud to launch Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan from this historic land of Birsa Munda. This ambitious plan, worth Rs 80,000 crore, will be implemented by 15 ministries, which will transform the landscape of 60,000 tribal-dominated villages across the country.” Later, during the Parivartan Mahasabha rally, the Prime Minister focussed on issues concerning tribal communities. He also criticised the past treatment of the community, particularly under the Congress regime. Highlighting the government’s new initiatives, PM Modi said, “The schemes that we have launched today will benefit every tribal family. It will ensure that all tribal families are connected to Ayushman Yojana, all tribal-dominated villages get roads, every family gets a house and every house gets a tap water connection.”

PM Modi also announced the establishment of tribal marketing centres in Jharkhand to provide fair market opportunities for products made by tribal families and entrepreneurs. “There will also be a focus on skill development for tribal youth, ensuring they receive training and opportunities necessary for growth, especially in states like Jharkhand,” he said. PM Modi also underlined his special connection with Jharkhand, saying, “BJP and I have a special bond with Jharkhand. This is a ‘bond of the heart’ built on shared dreams. Jharkhand keeps calling me, and every time, I find myself returning without hesitation.” The Prime Minister also reflected on his previous visits to Jharkhand. “I came to Jharkhand on October 2, the birth anniversary of Gandhi ji. So, this is also a big coincidence. Gandhi ji had come to Hazaribagh in 1925 during the freedom movement. Bapu’s thoughts and teachings are part of our resolutions,” he said.

He further said, “I was in Jharkhand on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2015 also. That day I got the opportunity to inaugurate a solar rooftop plant in Khunti. Just a few days ago, I flagged off six Vande Bharat Express trains in Jamshedpur. That day my helicopter could not fly due to heavy rains, so I reached Jharkhand by road to meet you.” The Prime Minister’s address resonated with a promise to bring about tangible change and ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of the tribal community in Jharkhand and other states as well.

2 Pilots, Engineer Perish As Chopper Crashes In Pune; DGCA Probes

Chopper Crashes In Pune; DGCA Probes

Two pilots and an aircraft engineer died after a helicopter of Heritage Aviation, New Delhi, flying over the Bavdhan area in Pune crashed in the hilly terrain, officials said on Wednesday. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a probe into the tragedy that left Capt Paramjit Singh and Capt G K Pillai, besides an aircraft maintenance engineer, Pritamchand Bharadwaj, dead this morning in the chopper crash.

According to officials, the chopper, an Agusta 109-VT-EW, had taken off from the Oxford Golf Club in Pune for a flight to Juhu Airport in Mumbai at around 7:15 am without passengers on board. En route, barely 20 km away and some four to five minutes after the take-off, the chopper suddenly crashed at around 7:20 am near the HEMRL-DRDO factory, said a police officer speaking from the site of the tragedy near Bavdhan. Videos of the incident shot by some locals showed the helicopter seemingly losing control and plunging almost abruptly, headlong into a forested hilly region before going up in smoke. Despite repeated attempts by IANS, officials of Heritage Aviation remained tight-lipped about the tragedy and stonewalled all questions on the victims and the possible causes of the tragedy.

Bharatiya Janata Party Minister Chandrakant Patil said that as per preliminary information, the Pune crash may have occurred owing to some technical snag and suspected poor visibility, which will be probed. As per certain local reports, ruling Nationalist Congress Party state president Sunil Tatkare, was scheduled to fly by the same ill-fated chopper. The helicopter was flying to Mumbai to pick up Tatkare for a flight later today after it had completed certain other flights in Beed on Tuesday. An official said that the police control was informed of the tragedy by a caller. Immediately, a team was set up including the local fire brigade, which rushed to the crash spot with the help of villagers, in a difficult hilly terrain of the western ghats.

The police also informed the local aviation authorities and a team of experts from Heritage Aviation was dispatched from New Delhi and Mumbai for a probe into the tragedy. The Hinjewadi Police Station together with aviation officials are coordinating to assess the situation and other details and the bodies of the victims were shifted for autopsy at a Pune hospital. This is the second incident of its kind in the Pune hills after a private helicopter on a Mumbai-Hyderabad flight had crashed in the region on August 24, injuring four, and prior to that, on May 3, a helicopter flying to pick up Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare had crashed near a helipad in Raigad.

Controversy Rages Over Kerala CM Vijayan’s ‘Gold Smuggling Remarks’, CPI-M Defends Him

Kerala CM Vijayan's Gold Smuggling Remarks

Amid the ongoing controversy over Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s purported remarks on the “entry of gold and hawala money” into the state’s Malappuram district in an interview, followed by his claims of being misquoted, and the role of a PR agency, his CPI-M on Wednesday swung to his defence. Leading from the front was the Kerala Tourism Minister and the Chief Minister’s son-in-law, PA Mohammed Riyas, who said this is nothing new for a Communist leader like Vijayan, who has always been “a target of the media”.

“Vijayan is being mercilessly attacked by the media just because he is the head of the Left movement, and this is nothing new to him or the party. A politician like Vijayan doesn’t need any PR. Whatever the media tries to play it up, we will be giving replies, and none can cow down him or the Left,” he said. It was on September 30 that the interview with Vijayan done in New Delhi appeared in the national daily. What landed Vijayan in trouble was his purported mention that 150 kg of gold and hawala money worth Rs 123 crore were seized by the Kerala police in the last five years from Malappuram district.

“This money is entering Kerala through anti-national activities,” the Chief Minister said in the interview. Even though a few reactions against this, especially from Malappuram, surfaced, the issue gained momentum when Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Tuesday expressed concern about the gold smuggling in Malappuram and termed it a “serious issue”. “The gold smuggling and seizure of Hawala money in the Malappuram district is a serious issue. I would like to know what has been done by the state government to stop the smuggling in the district,” the Kerala governor told media persons.

Soon, numerous Congress leaders and the Indian Union Muslim League, whose citadel is Malappuram, slammed Vijayan. Soon, a statement from his office asked the national daily to come clean on the issue as Vijayan has not made such a statement. Subsequently, the daily clarified that a PR agency had fixed the appointment with the Chief Minister, and there were two people with it. One of them later asked them to include this statement. The issue also reverberates on social media with questions about why Vijayan and the state government are not taking legal action against the wrongdoers. Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister V Muraleedharan slammed Vijayan for employing a PR agency. They called for the Public Relations Department, under Vijayan, to be disbanded immediately.

Left-backed Independent legislator PV Anvar, who took up cudgels with Vijayan on Wednesday, said that it is bizarre that it took 32 hours after the interview to get a reaction from the office of Vijayan. “All this is a drama enacted between the key players behind the interview. The need of the hour is to let the newspaper release the interview recording. Moreover, Vijayan and others claim there is no PR agency for him. If the interview was wrong, why did it take 32 hours for Vijayan’s office to react,” he asked.

Complaint Filed Against Issuance Of SC Certificates To Christian Family In Violation Of Constitutional Order

dalit christians caste discrimination

The SC/ST Rights Forum, an organization working to protect the rights of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes community has lodged a formal complaint with the Andhra Pradesh government, alleging the improper issuance of Scheduled Caste (SC) certificates to a Christian family in Vemulapalem village, Gudur Mandal, Tirupati District. The complaint, addressed to the Chief Secretary, seeks action against both the certificate holders and the officials responsible for issuing these certificates, citing violations of the Constitutional (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950.

The forum referenced an order from the Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta, dated August 12, 2024, which highlights the findings of the District Level Scrutiny Committee (DLSC). The committee confirmed that T. Lakshman Rao and his family members had converted to Christianity, disqualifying them from receiving SC status. Based on the DLSC’s recommendation, the Tirupati District Collector was directed to revoke the SC certificates issued to the family.

Villagers from Vemulapalem initially raised concerns about the misuse of SC benefits by the Christian family in 2021, filing multiple complaints with the Gudur Mandal Tahsildar and the then-Nellore District Collector. These complaints, however, were reportedly ignored, prompting the villagers to escalate the matter to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) and the Lokayukta.

Under directives from the NCSC and the Lokayukta, the District Collector referred the case to the DLSC, leading to the eventual revocation of the certificates.

The SC/ST Rights Forum also urged the government to impose fines and penalties on individuals holding false SC certificates, as well as on the officials responsible for issuing them. They referenced a circular issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in 2019, which called for strict action against such violations, in line with recommendations from the Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The forum emphasized the need for stronger verification procedures to prevent the issuance of false SC certificates in the future and called for accountability from officials who fail to follow proper protocols.

Israel Bans UN Chief Guterres From Entering Country

Israel on Wednesday declared UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres persona non grata and banned him from entering the country for his failure to “unequivocally condemn” Iran’s missile attack. “Today, I have declared UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres persona non grata in Israel and banned him from entering the country. Anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attack on Israel, as almost every country in the world has done, does not deserve to step foot on Israeli soil,” announced Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Israel Katz, late Wednesday afternoon.

With the first anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel just a few days away, Katz slammed the United Nations chief for failing to act against the terror organisations. “This is a Secretary-General who has yet to denounce the massacre and sexual atrocities committed by Hamas murderers on October 7, nor has he led any efforts to declare them a terrorist organisation. A Secretary-General who gives backing to terrorists, rapists, and murderers from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and now Iran—the mothership of global terror—will be remembered as a stain on the history of the UN,” the Israeli Foreign Minister wrote on X.

He added that Israel will continue to defend its citizens and “uphold its national dignity, with or without Antonio Guterres”. The UN Secretary General had on Tuesday said that he is “extremely concerned” with the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon and appealed for an immediate ceasefire. Guterres said that an all-out war must be avoided in Lebanon “at all costs”, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon must be respected.

He posted another message on X a few hours later when Iran attacked Israel with nearly 200 missiles on Tuesday night. “I condemn the broadening of the Middle East conflict, with escalation after escalation. This must stop. We absolutely need a ceasefire,” said Guterres.

Elect BJP Govt To Protect ‘Roti, Beti, Maati’: PM Modi Urges People Of Jharkhand

Elect BJP Govt To Protect 'Roti, Beti, Maati': PM Modi Urges People Of Jharkhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked the people of Jharkhand to bring the BJP to power in the state to protect their “roti, beti, and maati” (livelihood, daughters, and land). Addressing the Parivartan Maharally in Hazaribagh, he termed the BJP’s Parivartan Yatra not as a mere political campaign, but as a movement to safeguard the state’s future, and promised security for Jharkhand’s daughters, land, and livelihoods under a BJP-led government.

“The BJP guarantees that the safety of these three will be ensured if the government is formed here. A new dawn will descend in Jharkhand with today’s Parivartan Sabha,” he said.

PM Modi criticised the current Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government, accusing it of hindering the state’s development. He blamed the Congress-JMM-RJD alliance for rampant corruption and mismanagement, claiming it has betrayed the very people who voted for them in the name of protecting the state’s natural resources.

“Everyone here knows that the ruling coalition has allowed unchecked loot of water, forest and land. Jharkhand will progress only when this government is thrown out of power. BJP’s Parivartan Yatra is not only a political movement, but a Sankalp Yatra to fulfil the dreams of the people,” he said, accusing the Soren government of siphoning off funds intended for tribal welfare programmes.

PM Modi also attacked Jharkhand’s Abua Awas Yojana and Maiya Samman Yojana, labelling them corrupt schemes designed to deceive the public ahead of elections.

“The people of Jharkhand have to be careful of those who sell lies,” he said. Taking aim at the Congress, PM Modi accused the party of neglecting tribal communities while favouring a single family for decades. “Congress did not give importance to the tribal society which made big contributions in the freedom struggle. All the schemes were brought in the name of the members of a single family. Such family-oriented thinking has caused immense harm to the country. Today I am proud that our government has given full respect to the tribal heroes. We all lovingly call Lord Birsa Munda Dharti Aaba. Today, in his name, our government has started ‘Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’,” he said.

PM Modi also raised concerns about the state government’s failure to deliver on promises, such as providing jobs and allowances for youth and women. He alleged that paper leak scandals have severely impacted the state’s youth, with exam papers being sold under the protection of the government, enriching a select few while ruining countless young lives. He urged the people to reject the current government and embrace the BJP’s vision for a prosperous, corruption-free future.

Prashant Kishor Launches Jan Suraaj Party, Sets ‘Humanity’ Its Core Ideology

Prashant Kishor Jan Suraaj Party

Political strategist Prashant Kishor launched his new political party, Jan Suraaj party, on Wednesday with ‘humanity’ as the ‘main ideology’ and quality education as the ‘supreme goal’. Addressing a large gathering, he noted that people had been curious about when his ‘Jan Suraaj’ campaign would officially form a political party. With the Election Commission’s recognition of Jan Suraaj as an official party, he took the opportunity to present his vision for Bihar’s future.

Prashant Kishor said, “This party is a collective movement, representing all communities – Dalits, backward classes, Hindus, and Muslims.” He claimed that the gathering signifies the commitment of people from every background to develop a state that had been neglected by traditional political forces. “People gathered here are focused on restoring the historic pride of Bihar,” he added. He addressed a key question on the party’s ideology, stating that “humanity” will be the core principle, drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, and B.R. Ambedkar. “’Humanity First’ is Jan Suraaj’s guiding philosophy,” he said.

Prashant Kishor also emphasised that the goal is to see Bihar so developed that people from states like Haryana and Gujarat come to Bihar seeking employment. He also questioned the current state of Bihar’s leadership, saying, “What is the way forward? Leaders come here and demean each other without any blueprint for Bihar’s development.” He shared his experience of travelling during the Jan Suraaj campaign, creating awareness among people to choose leaders who would work for the future of their children. “Jan Suraaj’s top priority will be on quality education for children,” he said. He urged people to think about their children’s future, stating, “How many times have you voted for the education and employment of your children? Education quality and employment were never prioritised in Bihar because you never voted for these things.” He alleged that the people, for the greed of 5 kg of cereals, voted for PM Modi. “Loot was done, but cereals were given. The Ayodhya Mandir was built, but no factories or hospitals were built in Bihar,” he said.

He said that many people voted for Lalu Yadav, and during his reign, there were no roadways, electricity, or water. ‘The poor and backward communities were promised progress and respect. Did they get it? Yes, but were their basic needs fulfilled,” he said. He further acknowledged that under Nitish Kumar’s reign, electricity reached every village, though citizens now face issues with smart meters. He also noted that many people voted for PM Modi, seeing the work he did in Gujarat, where he established factories by leveraging funds from across the world. “Biharis are working in these factories, but what matters is the reason for which you vote,” Prashant Kishor added. Kishor asserted that his focus is not just on rhetoric but on actionable plans: “I am not just speaking about development; I am discussing the strategy as well.” He reminded the audience that when people voted for a temple, it was built. When they voted for electricity, it came. “But none of you voted for the education of your children, and that is why no one provided it to Bihar.” His key question to the people was: “Do you care about the future of your children or not? According to scholars, only through education, land, and wealth can poverty be eliminated.”

He pointed out that Bihar lacks all three: “If you look clearly, Bihar has none of these. In the name of education, children go to school for khichdi (mid-day meals) and then leave. In colleges, degrees are being sold for money. Bihar needs quality education, and Jan Suraaj will invest in and prioritise improving education.” Prashant Kishor proposed a significant investment plan to improve Bihar’s education system: “If Bihar’s education is to improve, ₹5 lakh crore is required over the next 10 years. If we lift the ban on alcohol, it will generate revenue that can be used to build the education system, instead of filling the pockets of politicians.”

“Jan Suraaj is not just daydreaming but showing you the way with a blueprint, and we will make Bihar a state with quality education. When education is promoted, it will lead to many other developments,” he added.

KT Rama Rao Behind Naga-Samantha Separation, Says Telangana Congress Minister

KT Rama Rao Behind Naga-Samantha Separation?

On Wednesday, Telangana’s Forests and Environment Minister Konda Surekha alleged that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President, KT Rama Rao, was responsible for actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu calling their marriage off.

Launching a scathing attack on the BRS leader, the minister told the media that KT Rama Rao was behind many actresses leaving films and marrying early.

She claimed that KT Rama Rao was addicted to drugs, and he blackmailed film personalities. The Congress leader suspects the BRS leader was behind a recent offensive post against her.

She claimed that, in the instance of the BRS leader, the party workers made an offensive social media post against her. She said such a derogatory post against a woman from a Backward Class was very unfortunate.

The minister said derogatory posts were also made against Minister Seethakka and Greater Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi. Stating that she worked in the BRS for five years, Konda Surekha said everyone knows her character.

The minister said she had complained to those who posted derogatory comments against her. Earlier, Konda Surekha turned emotional at a press conference while discussing the online abuse she faced following an incident involving BJP leader and Medak MP M Raghunandan Rao.

Raghunandan Rao had placed a garland of handwoven cotton around Surekha’s neck during a recent programme and this triggered a series of derogatory posts on social media. She slammed BRS leaders for allegedly using the incident to demean her, stressing that their comments had blatantly disregarded her gender.

“These BRS leaders are worse than animals, trolling women without any decency. Would they have reacted the same way if it were Kavitha,” she asked, referring to BRS MLC, K. Kavitha, who is KT Rama Rao’s sister. “KTR, you have a sister too, don’t you? Would you have accepted such trolling when she was in jail?” she questioned.

She also demanded an apology from BRS senior leader T Harish Rao, as the accused had been using Harish Rao’s photo as a display on social media platforms.
