“Our Rangaraj Pandey Is 20 Times More Intelligent Than Prashant Kishore Pandey”, “H Raja Is A Great Scholar”, NTK Chief Seeman Praises Chanakyaa TV Founder & BJP Leader H Raja

NTK Chief Seeman Praises Chanakyaa TV Founder & BJP Leader H Raja

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman criticized the DMK’s reliance on non-Tamil strategists like Prashant Kishore and Robin Sharma during a press conference in Coimbatore, questioning why the party overlooked capable Tamil figures like Rangaraj Pandey. Highlighting Pandey’s deep knowledge of Tamil Nadu’s geography and culture, Seeman contrasted this with the limited understanding of external consultants hired by the DMK.

The NTK leader also accused the DMK of hypocrisy in betraying the ideals of their ideologue EV Ramasamy Naicker (EVR, also called Periyar by his followers) while claiming allegiance to his movement. He challenged their symbolic decisions, urging them to honor Tamil luminaries like Bharathi and U Ve Swaminatha Iyer over figures like S. Ve. Sekhar’s family.

Seeman held a press conference in Coimbatore following reports of NTK members joining the DMK, as he dismissed the significance of these defections. When asked about DMK leader Duraimurugan’s comments that those who criticize EVR are of “bad birth,” Seeman clarified that the remarks were directed at DMK founder CN Annadurai and not himself. He highlighted Periyar’s controversial marriage to Maniammai as a turning point that led to the formation of the DMK.

Seeman also criticized DMK’s political principles, accusing the party of betraying Periyar’s ideals while claiming its roots in his movement. He challenged the DMK to seek votes based on their allegiance to Periyar’s ideology.

Seeman darted back at the reporters saying, “Where is your principle placed? In opposing “Aryans”? Who is Prashant Kishore Pandey? A Bihari Brahmin. Why did you join hands with him? We have a brother here. He is 10 times, 20 times more intelligent than that Prashant Kishore Pandey. He is Rangaraj Pandey. Prashant Kishore Pandey has no inkling of what lies in the south or north in Tamil Nadu, nor does he know how many rivers, lakes, how many communities we have. But Pandey (Rangaraj) knows it. Not just north-south, he knows every nook and corner. Why don’t you use him as your strategist?

Now you have brought in a Robin Sharma. Who is he? A Shudra? A Kshatriya? A Vaishya? Who is he? He is a so-called Aryan, a Brahmin. Instead of that Robin Singh Sharma, there is a Harihara Raja Sharma, our H Raja, he is a great scholar. He knows Tamil and Tamil literature, and so does Pandey. Why not make use of their expertise once? The thrashing that they received, their ears just turned them around and now they are going behind SVe Sekhar. Why are you naming that street after his father? Why can’t you name it after Tamil Thatha U Ve Swaminatha Iyer? There is Maraimalai Adigal’s guru – Suryanarayana Sastri who renamed himself Parithimar Kalaignar, name the street after him. Our grandfather who created waves in Tamil literature – Bharathi – name it after him. Why are you keeping SVe Sekhar’s father’s name?”

“Wield ‘Iron Hand’ Against Corruption”, Madras HC Knocks On DMK Govt Head Amidst Stalin Govt Claiming Tamil Region As Pioneers Of ‘Iron Age’

"Wield 'Iron Hand' Against Corruption", Madras HC Knocks On DMK Govt Head Amidst Stalin Govt Claiming Tamil Region As Pioneers Of 'Iron Age' madras high court dmk stalin

In a striking statement during court proceedings on 24 January 2025, Justice SM Subramaniam of the Madras High Court slammed the Tamil Nadu government, demanding it take a stance against corruption with an “iron hand”. His remarks came a day after Chief Minister MK Stalin announced Tamil Nadu’s pioneering role in the Iron Age, dating back over 5,300 years.

The Division Bench, comprising Justice Subramaniam and Justice M. Jothiraman, heard the Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) R. Muniyapparaj during the proceedings and made pointed comments linking the government’s historical claims to its present-day governance.

“Yesterday, Tamil people were declared as a pioneer for having used iron ore 5,300 years ago. Same way, corruption must be destroyed with an iron hand, so that Tamil Nadu will be a pioneer in the destruction of corruption too. Do that,” Justice Subramaniam remarked.

Tamil Nadu’s Iron Age Claim

The comments followed Chief Minister Stalin’s declaration at the launch of the book Irumbin Thonmai (Antiquity of Iron), which highlighted research tracing the use of iron in Tamil Nadu back to 3345 BCE. The findings, based on radiocarbon dating of 28 samples from the Sivagalai archaeological site in Thoothukudi district, were confirmed by reputed research centers in Pune, Ahmedabad, and Miami, Florida.

Chief Minister Stalin emphasized the importance of the findings, asserting that they reshaped the historical timeline of the Indian subcontinent.

“With immense pride and unmatched satisfaction, I have declared to the world: “The Iron Age began on Tamil soil!” Based on results from world-renowned institutions, the use of iron in Tamil Nadu dates back to the beginning of 4th millennium B.C.E., establishing that iron usage was prominent in South India over 5,300 years ago. What was written in our ancient literature is now becoming scientifically proven history, thanks to the meticulous efforts of our #DravidianModel Government. The history of the Indian subcontinent can no longer overlook Tamil Nadu. In fact, it must begin here!” he wrote on his social media (X) handle.

Justice Subramaniam, however, used the declaration to underscore the state’s failure to address corruption effectively. “Tamil Nadu must now curb corruption with iron hands,” he said, stressing that the government’s pride in ancient history should extend to cleaning up its administration.

Tamil Nadu’s Mining Mafia: Extortion And Exploitation Under DMK’s Watch

Tamil Nadu’s Mining Mafia: Extortion And Exploitation Under DMK’s Watch

Despite widespread condemnation following the death of a social activist who spoke out against illegal mining mafia in Tamil Nadu, the ruling DMK has shown little interest in addressing the issue. Illegal mining operations continue unabated, with criminal mafia gangs exploiting the state’s resources with apparent impunity, backed by the support of the administration. In Coimbatore district, for example, a new wave of illegal mining activity is taking place, with multiple gangs vying for control of the quarrying sector.

According to a report by Dinamalar, the “Karur team” has resurfaced in Coimbatore’s quarries, competing with the “Pudukkottai gang,” which has ties to the ruling party. This has apparently led to unrest in the mineral resources industry. The district has 74 quarries in the Kinathukadavu taluka, 32 of which have been abandoned, while 42 are still operational. These active quarries, including those in Arasampalayam, Vadaputhur, and Muthur, which are plagued by severe violations, causing significant problems for local farmers and the public. Despite numerous complaints to authorities, no action has been taken to curb these illegal activities.

These violations include exceeding the government’s permitted mining limits, using trip tickets multiple times, and overloading tipper trucks with minerals, resulting in extra charges of ₹400 per unit. The Pudukkottai gang has been extorting money from quarry operators in Kinathukadavu, while the Karur gang has now entered the scene to compete for control, collecting ₹400 per unit from each quarry. This extortion is raking in an estimated ₹10 lakh per day, as up to 500 trucks transport minerals from these quarries to Kerala and other parts of Tamil Nadu.

The gangs have also gained control over the trip ticket issuance process, which should normally cost ₹1,600 per ticket. Instead, they have raised the price to ₹2,700, pocketing an additional ₹1,100 per ticket. This results in a daily illegal income of over ₹5 lakh in the Kinathukadavu area alone. In some cases, quarry owners who attempt to operate legitimately are denied trip tickets, while those who cooperate with the gangs are promised consistent payments. If quarry owners resist, they face threats and heavy fines.

The government’s response has been lackluster, as officials from the Mineral Resources Department, the police, and other agencies turn a blind eye to the situation. Meanwhile, new quarry licenses are being denied, exacerbating the issue. As a result, the price of stones has surged, with the cost of a unit rising from ₹1,300 to ₹1,800, putting pressure on construction companies.

One quarry owner shared that operating a quarry honestly is becoming increasingly difficult due to pressure from high-ranking political figures. Many government officials, influenced by party members, are said to be overlooking illegal activities, such as reusing trip tickets for multiple days. This results in significant financial losses for the state. The parties involved even “take care” of the officials who turn a blind eye to the violations, while those who resist face the threat of transfer.

Moreover, the amount of minerals extracted from these quarries is routinely inflated. For instance, the quantity of minerals loaded onto trucks is double the allowable limit. Minerals extracted under the Kinathukadavu pass are transported to Kerala through various check posts, with the load often exceeding the prescribed amount by a large margin.

Why Are Start-Ups Leaving Dravidian Model Tamil Nadu To Bengaluru?

Why Are StartUps Leaving Dravidian Model Tamil Nadu To Bengaluru? startup tn

The exodus of startups like Wheelocity and Arcana from Tamil Nadu to Bengaluru signals a glaring failure in the Dravidian model state’s ability to retain innovation and enterprise. Even though the DMK government claims that the state is a favoured investment destination, Tamil Nadu’s startup ecosystem suffers from chronic underfunding, a lack of risk-taking culture, and an absence of local champions in high-growth sectors. Wheelocity’s relocation, coupled with its ambitious pivot to a B2C rural market strategy, marks a devastating loss of potential jobs and revenue for the state. This exodus paints a stark picture of Tamil Nadu’s struggle to keep pace with the start-up dynamism of Bengaluru.

With Wheelocity’s announcement to relocate its base from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to Bengaluru, Karnataka, it becomes the second startup to make such a move. Previously, Arcana, another startup, had announced its decision to shift its operations, including its product, business, engineering, and support, to Bengaluru.

Wheelocity

Wheelocity transitioned from a B2B model to a B2C approach, focusing on fresh commerce delivery to India’s underserved semi-urban and rural markets. To support this change, Wheelocity raised $15 million in November 2024 through a mix of debt and equity funding, led by Lightspeed, with contributions from Alteria Capital, Anicut Capital, and Selvam. This move was part of the company’s larger plan to tap into a massive, yet largely ignored, market of over 800 million people, where access to reliable commerce platforms remains limited. In July 2022, the firm had raised $12 million from Lightspeed, Anicut, and other investors.

Founded in 2022 by Selvam VMS and Senthil Kumar, Wheelocity initially supplied fresh fruits and vegetables to quick commerce companies like Swiggy Instamart, Dunzo, Blinkit, and Zepto. The company acted as an intermediary, collecting supplies from smaller merchants and farmers and delivering them to the largest ecommerce players. However, with this new pivot, Wheelocity began competing with companies like Swiggy and Zepto, with a stronger focus on semi-urban and rural areas.

The company adopted a “phygital” approach, shifting away from being a purely digital application player. Phygital refers to integrating technology with the physical world to create unique, interactive user experiences. Wheelocity now operates a fleet of three-wheeler EVs, which deliver and carry vegetables and fruits to consumers in semi-urban and rural areas.

The firm operated in over 60 dark stores, or pit stops, across central Tamil Nadu, where goods were stored, and commerce was facilitated. The shift of Wheelocity from Coimbatore to Bengaluru, marks a significant loss for the state as the company, which served over one million consumers across 3,500 towns and villages, was poised to expand into 20,000 towns and villages in the next 12 months, with a target user base of 10 million consumers. This move, supported by new funding, highlights the state’s loss in terms of business and job opportunities.

Why Are TN Start-ups Shifting To Bengaluru?

A recent report from TOI highlights that startups in Tamil Nadu are often seen as more “tortoises” than “unicorns,” reflecting a slower growth pace compared to other regions. Despite being the second-largest economy in terms of gross national income, Tamil Nadu continues to lag in the startup scene. Last year was especially challenging, with venture capital funding for startups in Tamil Nadu dropping 44% from the previous year, according to data from Venture Intelligence. This marks the lowest funding since 2020, even as national funding saw a recovery in 2024.

Arun Natarajan, founder of Venture Intelligence, acknowledges that while Tamil Nadu’s funding ecosystem is underdeveloped compared to other startup hubs, this doesn’t pose a significant issue for the right kind of entrepreneurs. Many startups have demonstrated that founders can easily reach out to venture capitalists (VCs) in other cities for funding. However, due to a lack of local seed capital and the more conservative nature of Tamil Nadu’s entrepreneurs, startups here tend to approach external investors much later than those in cities like Bengaluru or NCR.

The absence of role models, particularly in the consumer sector, is another challenge, according to Natarajan. While founders like Girish Mathrubootham have successfully scaled B2B software ventures, there are fewer success stories in the consumer-focused, cash-burning startups like Swiggy or Zepto, which take years to turn profitable. Moreover, there is a lack of local investors willing to back such ventures.

According to data from Tracxn, just over 250 startups in Tamil Nadu have raised Series A funding or beyond, and around 10 startups have reached unicorn status. This includes companies like Uniphore, Freshworks, Chargebee, and Zoho, but is still far fewer compared to other startup hubs like Bengaluru and Mumbai. Most of Tamil Nadu’s ventures are B2B-focused, primarily working in enterprise applications and financial services.

I.A.S. Balamurugan, managing partner and co-founder of Anicut Capital, emphasizes that Tamil Nadu’s startup ecosystem needs to evolve beyond just funding. While a few software and fintech firms in the state have received significant capital, Balamurugan hopes to see the growth of sectors like manufacturing tech and automobiles. He advocates for an ecosystem that supports both profitable and risky startups, allowing them to fail if they’re not viable businesses. Without a risk-taking mentality, the ecosystem will struggle to nurture high-potential ventures.

Arvind Subramaniam of Enlighten Capital, a micro-VC, believes that while Tamil Nadu startups have traditionally been conservative and reluctant to raise external capital, the situation is changing. Entrepreneurs are becoming more open to funding as they gain exposure to other hubs, and former employees of successful startups are now starting their own ventures with seed capital from experienced founders.

Sivarajah Ramanathan, CEO of startupTN, points out that Tamil Nadu’s startup ecosystem has a lower failure rate compared to other regions. He believes that alternative funding sources, such as debt or a company’s turnover and profitability, should also be considered. Ramanathan is optimistic about the future of the state’s ecosystem, noting that efforts are underway to improve access to funds. In the past six months, the state has facilitated 90 crores in cumulative funding.

An executive from a well-known startup investor firm suggests that their philosophy aligns more with slow, steady growth—like the tortoise—rather than the pursuit of unicorn status. This mindset, shared by some Tamil Nadu startups, raises the question of whether these “tortoises” will ultimately win the race over the “unicorns.”

BJP Leader Amit Malviya Accuses AAP Of Selling Tickets In Delhi Polls

Amit Malviya, the national convener of the BJP IT cell, has accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal of engaging in corruption by selling election tickets for the Delhi polls. Malviya shared a video on his X handle in which Rajesh Rishi, the current MLA of the Janakpuri Assembly constituency, accuses Kejriwal and the AAP leadership.

“Rajesh Rishi, the current MLA of Janakpuri Assembly, is exposing the truth about the Aam Aadmi Party. It is alleged that Arvind Kejriwal has sold assembly tickets. If those who are buying tickets by paying money win, they will earn money by looting the public,” Malviya stated in his post. He further called on voters to ensure that “not even a single candidate of ‘AAP-Da’ wins.”

In the video, Rajesh Rishi claims that AAP has evolved into a party driven by greed, alleging that a “premium” is now being demanded for assembly election tickets. “Today, there is a price tag for every ticket in the elections. The AAP has become a party of looters. Even I was asked to pay Rs 5 crore for a ticket,” Rishi claimed in the video shared by Malviya.

Rajesh Rishi also accused the AAP’s candidate from Janakpuri, Praveen Kumar, of being corrupt. Kumar has been given the ticket this time, replacing Rishi. Rishi further mentioned that the individuals denied tickets by Kejriwal this time were long-time associates who had joined him for his principles.

“When I asked Kejriwal why I was denied a ticket, he had no response,” Rishi added. Rishi further cited internal data to assert that AAP is losing its hold in several wards of Janakpuri. He accused Kejriwal of abandoning the party’s foundational principles and focusing solely on retaining power, describing him as a leader who has succumbed to corruption.

For the upcoming Delhi elections to be held on February 5, the AAP has nominated Praveen Kumar from the Janakpuri constituency, replacing Rajesh Rishi. The BJP has fielded Ashish Sood, while the Congress has nominated Harbani Kaur.

Kerala’s Mannan Tribe King Raman Rajamannan To Attend Republic Day Celebrations

Kerala's Mannan Tribe King Raman Rajamannan To Attend Republic Day Celebrations

Raman Rajamannan, the head of the Mannan community, is not your typical king. Unlike traditional rulers with kingdoms and thrones, Rajamannan leads a people with a rich heritage that traces back centuries. As the king of the Mannan tribe in Kerala, he holds a revered role in his community, albeit without an official title or governing rights. Yet, his influence is undeniable.

Although he has no kingdom to rule, Rajamannan is responsible for the welfare of his people. He wears a headgear (thalappa) during social functions but resides in a modest home. His “capital” is Kozhimala village, located in the Kanchiyar panchayat of Idukki.

On 26 January 2025, Raman Rajamannan, along with his wife Binumol, will participate in the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, marking a significant moment in the history of his community. This invitation makes Rajamannan the first tribal king from Kerala to be invited to the prestigious event. The couple is among the selected individuals from tribal communities across India who will represent their people during the grand occasion.

Rajamannan’s journey as the king of the Mannans began 12 years ago when he ascended to the role after the passing of the previous king, Aryan Rajamannan. Today, he leads around 3,000 families spread across 46 settlements, mostly in Idukki district, with some in Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. The Mannans, traditionally engaged as farm laborers and daily wage workers, maintain their unique customs, including a self-governance system where the king’s advice is sought after in their affairs. Despite his ceremonial role, Rajamannan is regarded as the community’s leader and holds significant sway in decisions related to the tribe.

The invitation to participate in the Republic Day celebrations is a monumental honour for Rajamannan and his community. While his responsibilities as the king do not include any official legal or governmental powers, the Mannans still look up to him for guidance, especially during important social functions. Rajamannan’s role, though symbolic, reflects the deep respect his people have for their traditions and the position he holds within them.

Rajamannan stated that the invitation to the Republic Day celebrations was a significant honor for him and his community. He mentioned that he was the first king from the Mannan community to be invited to the event, noting that while a Mannan community member, Pandian, had attended the celebrations in the early 80s, this was the first time a king had been invited. The Kerala SC/ST Department extended the invitation, with the state sending a tribal couple for the event. Rajamannan and Binumol were informed last November and have since completed all necessary formalities for the trip.

The couple will travel to Delhi, where they will be guests of the Scheduled Tribes (SC) Development Department. During their visit, they will meet with the President and other prominent figures. They are also scheduled to visit historical sites like Agra. The Kerala government will cover the travel expenses for Rajamannan and his wife. This invitation is not only a personal honor but also a recognition of the Mannan community’s rich heritage and its unique cultural role in southern India.

The Mannans’ history is one of resilience. As reported by The Indian Express in 2017, the Mannan tribe traces its origins to a time when several tribes were forced to flee Tamil Nadu after a brutal war between the Chola and Pandya kings. Despite their displacement, the Mannans have preserved their customs and traditions, living in close-knit communities that are still governed by their king. The king’s presence is integral to the tribe’s festivals and traditional functions, where he wears a distinctive turban or headgear, symbolizing his leadership.

Rajamannan’s role is also significant in the tribe’s cultural functions, which are attended by members from various settlements. During these events, the king is supported by ministers and soldiers, underlining the respect and admiration he commands within the community.

This rare invitation to the Republic Day parade is a testament to the unique position Rajamannan holds in his community. For the Mannans, it is a proud moment, not only for their king but for the tribe as a whole. The recognition of their leadership at such a national level is an honour that highlights the importance of preserving indigenous cultures and traditions in modern India.

For Rajamannan, the journey to the Republic Day celebrations is not just a personal achievement, but a celebration of the Mannans’ legacy and their continued relevance in the fabric of Indian society.

Adani Power’s Stock Has Upside Potential Of 54.5% In Next 24 Months: Ventura

Adani Power's Stock Has Upside Potential Of 54.5% In Next 24 Months: Ventura

Enhanced coal availability and business expansion are fuelling Adani Power Ltd’s growth, according to brokerage firm Ventura that has given the stock a target price of Rs 806 in the next 24 months, which represents a 54.5 percent upside potential.

The power demand in India is surging, driven by rising manufacturing activities and the growing adoption of white goods and gadgets in households. With renewable energy unable to fully meet the rising energy needs, the widening peak demand-supply gap underscores the necessity of augmenting base load thermal power capacity, according to the note by Ventura.

Adani Power, India’s largest private pure-play thermal power producer, is strategically positioned with robust capacity expansion plans to address this critical demand. “We recommend BUY with an upward revised DCF-based price target of Rs 806 (13.8X FY27 EV/EBITDA), representing an upside of 54.5 per cent,” the brokerage said.

The stock is currently trading at around Rs 522 apiece. With an installed capacity of 17.55 GW, Adani Power Ltd (APL) is India’s largest private coal-based thermal power producer. The company sources coal from both domestic and international markets. Rising power demand supported by lower imported coal prices and improved domestic coal availability has substantially improved APL’s average plant load factor (PLF), which has risen from 48 per cent in FY23 to 72 per cent in H1 FY25 – marking its highest level in seven years.

“This remarkable progress has exceeded our previous estimates and strengthened the company’s revenue performance and operational profitability,” Ventura noted.

In FY24, APL achieved YoY growth in revenue and EBITDA of 29.9 per cent to Rs 50,351 crore and 81 per cent to Rs 18,181 crore, respectively. Similarly, in H1 FY25, revenue and EBITDA recorded a strong YoY growth rate of 17.9 per cent and 32.1 per cent, respectively.

Adani Power is committed to future growth through continued investments in thermal power capacity, targeting a total capacity of 30.67 GW by FY31. This is expected to increase the company’s share in India’s thermal power sector from 6 per cent in FY24 to 11 per cent by FY31. As a result, over FY24-27E, APL’s revenue and EBITDA are expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 11.8 per cent and 11 per cent, to reach Rs 70,284 crore and Rs 24,864 crore, respectively, according to the note.

“During H1 FY25, APL has showcased remarkable business performance, driven by its strong fundamentals and standalone operational capabilities,” it added.

First Case Of Conviction Under Uttar Pradesh’s Anti-Conversion Law, Christian Couple Sentenced To 5 Years Jail For Forcefully Converting People

Christian Couple Sentenced To 5 Years Jail For Forcefully Converting People

In a historic first, a special court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced a Christian couple to five years in prison for attempting to convert people. The special court in Ambedkar Nagar district convicted Pastor Jose Pappachan and his wife, Sheeja Pappachan, on 22 January 2025. Along with the prison sentence, the couple was fined ₹25,000 each.

“This is the first time we have encountered such a sentence for a suspected conversion attempt, said AC Michael, a prominent Christian leader monitoring “anti-Christian” activity in India. Michael claimed that the verdictwill not stand the scrutiny of a higher court, arguing that an attempt to convert is not classified as a crime under Indian law.

The Christian couple was accused of violating the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act 2021, which was amended in 2024 to include harsher penalties, including life imprisonment for certain offenses. The complaint, filed in January 2023 by Chandrika Prasad, a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accused the couple of targeting people from tribal and socially disadvantaged Dalit communities for conversion. According to Chandrika, the couple had been active in the Dalit settlement of Shahpur Firoz in the district for several months, allegedly targeting poor families and attempting to persuade them to convert to Christianity. On 25 December 2022, they had gathered a large crowd of Dalits for mass conversions. The police filed the chargesheet based on eyewitness testimonies, which led to the couple’s conviction.

The Allahabad High Court granted bail to the couple in September 2023 after they had spent eight months in prison. In its ruling, the High Court clarified that activities such as distributing Bibles, educating children, and organizing community meals do not constitute an attempt to convert under the law. The court also stated, Providing good teachings, distributing the Holy Bible, encouraging children to get an education, organizing assemblies of villagers and conducting bhandaras [community meals], instructing villagers not to argue and also not drink liquor does not amount to allurement,”

Moreover, the High Court raised concerns about the legitimacy of the complaint, noting that under the original 2021 law, only an aggrieved person or their relative could file a case. However, the 2024 amendment expanded this provision to allow third-party complaints.

Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state with 200 million residents, has become a hotbed for anti-Christian activities. UCA News claims that at least 70 Christians, including pastors, are currently imprisoned under the stringent anti-conversion law. While Christians make up only 0.18% of the state’s population, Hindus account for 80%, and Muslims comprise 19%.

“Anything Can Happen In Race, Want To Wrap Up My Film Commitments”: Vidaamuyarchi Director Magizh Thirumeni Reveals What Ajith Told Him

Anything Can Happen In Race, Want To Wrap Up My Film Commitments: Vidaamuyarchi Director Magizh Thirumeni Reveals What Ajith Told Him

Director Magizh Thirumeni, who is directing actor Ajith Kumar’s eagerly-awaited film ‘Vidaamuyarchi’, has now disclosed that actor Ajith Kumar, who is now on the racing circuit competing in International racing tournaments, had told him that he wanted to wrap up all his film commitments before he went to race because so many people were dependent on him, including his producers who had invested money on his films.

In an interview to a channel, Magizh Thirumeni said, “A couple of weeks before he was to head to the race, we were beginning to wrap up the film. Ajith had gone for practice sessions then. He showed us some videos of his practice laps. Ajith had met with two accidents during the practice laps. When we saw the footage, all our hearts skipped a beat. The first accident was one big massive crash. Then there was another one.”

Director Magizh then went on to say that he will never forget what Ajith said after that. “He (Ajith) said, “Magizh, when I go to participate in this race, anything can happen,” Magizh recalled, making sure that the listeners understood what Ajith meant by that statement.

Then he went on to say, “When I go to participate in a race, anything can happen which is why I want to wrap up all my film commitments. So many people are dependent on me. There are two producers who have invested heavily on my films. The hard work of so many people who have worked on my films are dependent on me.”

Magizh then went on to say that Ajith had further said, “When I get back to the racing circuit and I have to press that accelerator, I have to press it a 100 per cent. If I press only 90 per cent, it means I haven’t done justice to that race. I don’t want to play it safe thinking I have two more films to finish.”

The director said that what Ajith said then gives him goosebumps even now when he thinks about it. Director Magizh Thirumeni’s ‘Vidaa Muyarchi’ is all set to hit screens on February 6. The film, apart from Ajith, also features a host of actors including Trisha, Aarav, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Nikhil Nair, Dasarathi and Ganesh among others.

DMK Councillor John Srinivasan Arrested In Thoothukudi’s Areca Nut Smuggling Case Following DRI Seizure

Thoothukudi DMK Councillor John alias Srinivasan was taken into custody by the DRI over a smuggling operation involving areca nuts.

John alias Srinivasan, a DMK councillor from Thoothukudi City’s Ward 18, was taken into custody by the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in connection with a smuggling operation involving areca nuts.

This arrest follows the DRI’s seizure of a container last December, acting on a tip-off about a group of individuals reportedly importing areca nuts by falsely declaring them as a different product.

Due to restrictions imposed by the Union Ministry of Commerce on importing areca nuts and the significant import duties levied on them, the DRI inspected a container declared as cashews. Upon opening it, they discovered 22 metric tonnes of areca nuts, valued at 1.25 crore.

In the subsequent days, four individuals were arrested, including two employees from a shipping company. Further inquiries linked John alias Srinivasan to the smuggling operation, leading to his arrest on Thursday. The investigation is still ongoing.
