Muhamad Yunus Regime In Bangladesh Gives Life To Radical Islamist Party Jamaat-e-Islami

bangladesh jamaat sharia

Bangladesh’s radical Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami is expected to have its party registration restored, including its traditional electoral symbol of scales (Daripalla), a member of the Election Commission (EC) confirmed on Wednesday. The decision follows a recent verdict of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh ordering the reinstatement of Jamaat’s registration, overturning a previous High Court judgment that had declared the party’s registration illegal. “Jamaat-e-Islami will soon get back its registration. We are taking necessary steps.

The Election Commission has made a decision in this regard,” said Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Sanaullah while addressing reporters following a meeting at the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon.

The meeting was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin and attended by other commissioners and senior officials. According to a report in Bangladeshi media outlet UNB, Commissioner Sanaulla stated that Jamaat’s party symbol will be returned following a policy decision made by the EC. Earlier on Sunday, the Supreme Court’s ruling paved the way for the Islamist party to regain its registration with the EC as a political party. Jamaat-e-Islami’s legal battle to regain its political status traces back to August 2013 when the High Court declared its registration illegal in response to a writ petition.

The Election Commission followed suit by formally cancelling the registration through a gazette notification in December 2018. Although Jamaat appealed the High Court’s verdict, the Appellate Division dismissed the appeal in November 2023 due to the absence of the party’s lead counsel. As a result, the High Court verdict had remained in effect – until the recent verdict. The party’s legal resurgence followed the ouster of the Awami League government led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a violent mass uprising last year.

In the wake of the upheaval, Jamaat filed a fresh petition seeking to revive its appeal and regain its status as a registered political party. In October, the Appellate Division accepted Jamaat’s petition, setting the stage for Sunday’s ruling. The interim government under Muhammad Yunus, which assumed power following the fall of the Awami League, had earlier lifted the ban on Jamaat and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, through a gazette notification.

These groups had been declared illegal political entities under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2009 by the previous administration. These radical elements had played a key role in the student-led agitation that led to the toppling of Hasina’s democratically-elected government.

DMK Ally Panruti MLA T Velmurugan Character Assassinates Girl Students Felicitated By Actor Vijay

panruti mla velmurugan vijay

Tamilaga Vazhvumurai Katchi (TVK) leader and Panruti MLA T Velmurugan has stirred controversy with comments seen as moral policing and character assassination, directed at a female student during what was meant to be criticism of actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay.

The incident occurred during an event in Mahabalipuram, where Vijay hosted a felicitation ceremony on 4 June 2025 for Class 10 and 12 toppers. Held at a private hall, the event saw emotional moments between students and the actor, with several greeting him warmly some students even hugged and kissed him out of admiration. These moments, widely shared on social media, were largely seen by fans as heartfelt displays of affection.

However, Velmurugan, while speaking at a public meeting in Salem, harshly criticized the event targeting the behavior of the students and attacking their families. He questioned whether it was part of Tamil culture for young female students to hug and kiss film stars, and whether such behavior was appropriate when done publicly, especially in the presence of parents, journalists and media.

Velmurugan said, “Today, someone acted in two films and after becoming a superstar says, ‘I am the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.’ As soon as he gives a 2-gram gift, our fool… I won’t blame the actor. He’s taking along a matured girl… She who has just finished her Plus Two and in three months going to complete college. He is taking along college girls… Doesn’t a Tamil have any common sense? That girl, who was born, raised, and brought up—who tomorrow has to live as someone’s wife—right in front of her father and mother, in front of thousands of media people and journalists, you’re allowing her to hug and kiss a cinema performer… What kind of lowly birth is this? Is this the birth of a Tamilian? She says ‘Vijay Anna’… Vijay has acted? Appreciate it. Praise Ajith, praise Rajini, praise Sharath… Praise our patchai Tamilian Sathyaraj. But how can parents allow this kind of behavior? Is this Tamil society? Is this Tamil tradition? Is this the land where the brave clan of Tamil women lived? And we say this is Tamil soil?”

His comments, targeting specific female student and her parents, quickly drew backlash on social media. Critics accused Velmurugan of resorting to regressive thinking, publicly shaming a student, and crossing a line under the guise of cultural criticism, with many calling Velmurugan’s remarks demeaning and demanding accountability for his statements.

Clown Show Alert: According To Newslaundry, GDP In PPP Term Means Public Private Partnership GDP

In their desperate quest to undermine Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic achievements, Newslaundry has outdone itself—this time by turning basic economics into a circus act. In a recent video, the self-proclaimed “independent” media outlet committed an unforgivable blunder: they confused “Purchasing Power Parity” (PPP) with “Public Private Partnership” (PPP) while discussing India’s GDP rankings.

Yes, you read that right. A platform that claims to offer “smart, critical journalism” couldn’t even get a fundamental economic term right.

The Clown Show Begins

Newslaundry, citing an Indian Express article, attempted to argue that India’s rise to the 4th largest economy (nominal GDP) under Modi is no big deal because, according to PPP-based GDP, India was already the 3rd largest economy since 2009 under Manmohan Singh.

But here’s the punchline: They didn’t even understand the article they were quoting.

“PPP = Public Private Partnership” – The Ultimate Facepalm Moment

Quoting an Indian Express article, the voiceover is heard saying, “India has become the third largest economy of the world and the truth is that it has been like this since the time of UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. According to GDP estimates based on PPP i.e. Public Private Partnership, India became the third largest economy in 2009.”

  • The voice over confidently declared that PPP in GDP stands for “Public Private Partnership”—a term completely unrelated to GDP comparisons.
  • Reality: PPP stands for Purchasing Power Parity, an economic metric that adjusts for price differences between countries to give a more accurate comparison of living standards.
  • Impact of the Blunder: The entire premise of their argument collapsed because they were analyzing GDP rankings based on a completely wrong definition.

Selective Blindness: Ignoring Why PPP vs. Nominal Matters

  • The Indian Express article clearly explained that nominal GDP (market exchange rate) is the standard measure for global economic rankings, while PPP-adjusted GDP is useful for comparing living costs but not economic size.
  • Newslaundry’s Logic: “If we use PPP, India was already 3rd under UPA, so Modi’s 4th place is meaningless!”
  • Flaw: By that logic, China has been the world’s largest economy (PPP) since 2014—so why does anyone still care about the US being #1 in nominal terms? Because nominal GDP determines global financial influence, trade power, and currency strength.

Desperate UPA Nostalgia Backfires

Newslaundry tried to spin India’s PPP ranking as proof that Manmohan Singh was an economic genius, ignoring that:

  • PPP rankings don’t reflect actual global economic clout.
  • India’s nominal GDP was just $1.2 trillion in 2009 (11th largest), while it’s now $4.2 trillion (4th largest).
  • Per capita income was abysmal under UPA and remains a challenge today—but has still doubled since 2014.

Their argument essentially boiled down to: “Who cares if India is richer and more powerful now? Let’s just pretend 2009 was better!”

Newslaundry’s Anti-Modi Bias Overrides Basic Journalism

This isn’t just a harmless mistake—it’s symptomatic of a larger disease in India’s “liberal” media:

Fake Expertise: Acting like economic analysts while not knowing basic terms.
Cherry-Picking Data: Using PPP to downplay nominal growth because it doesn’t fit their anti-Modi narrative.
Hypocrisy: If PPP rankings are so great, why didn’t they celebrate India being #3 in 2009?

The Bigger Picture: Modi’s Growth vs. Newslaundry’s Desperation

Here are some important points to note with respect to the country’s move up the ladder.

  • India was the 10th largest economy in 2014 (nominal). Now it’s the 4th.
  • IMF projects India to become 3rd by 2028.
  • Stock market, digital economy, infrastructure—all at record highs, despite a war-like situation.

Yet, instead of acknowledging progress, Newslaundry would rather mislead viewers with incorrect definitions and revive UPA-era fantasies.

Newslaundry – Clown Show or News Outlet?

Newslaundry’s latest uneducated blunder proves three things, all over again:

  1. They don’t fact-check their own scripts.
  2. Their hatred for Modi overrides basic journalistic integrity.
  3. They’re now the laughingstock of economic discourse.

Perhaps they should rebrand as “Comedy Laundry”—because at this point, their “analysis” is just a joke.

Why Rahul Gandhi Should Be Given The Nishan-E-Pakistan Award

In a gesture long overdue, our perpetually puzzled prince of Indian politics, Rahul Gandhi, has once again shown the kind of empathy and dedication that few non-citizens (yet) have ever shown to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has emerged as the frontrunner for the prestigious award Nishan-e-Pakistan, thanks to his unmatched contributions to Pakistan’s strategic interests, often at the expense of his own country’s political discourse.

The Nishan-e-Pakistan, Pakistan’s highest civilian award for foreign nationals, has previously been awarded to leaders like Nelson Mandela and Turkish President Erdoğan. But it’s time to truly modernize that list. Give it to a man who, through sheer consistency, unrelenting optimism, and creative imagination, has spoken for Pakistan even when Pakistan itself was silent.

Let us take a look at a few top reasons why Rahul Gandhi deserves the award.

He Gives Pakistan Credit For Things It Didn’t Even Do

While India insists its military decisions are sovereign, Rahul Gandhi has special talent for attributing them to external pressure—especially from Pakistan’s all-weather ally, the US. Whether it’s the 2025 pausing of the war-like situation (“Modiji surrendered to Trump!”) or surgical strikes (“Did America approve this?”), he ensures Pakistan gets moral victories even when it loses on the ground.

He Keeps The BJP’s Blood Pressure At An All-Time High

No Pakistani troll has damaged the BJP’s calm as effectively as Rahul Gandhi. One speech from him, and BJP spokespersons spiral into Rahul loves Pakistan! meltdowns on live TV. Pakistan’s analysts and news anchors believe his statements do more damage than their entire propaganda wing—and they don’t even have to pay him!

For Possibly Being the Only Indian Leader Whose Heart Beats For Pakistan

No, this isn’t hyperbole. BJP spokespersons have graciously reminded us again and again that Rahul Gandhi’s cardiac sympathies lie not in New Delhi, but somewhere along the banks of the Indus. Who are we to question that kind of cardiovascular diplomacy?

His Historical Revisions Are A Gift To Pakistan’s Narrative

Who needs facts when you have Rahul Gandhi’s alternative history? His retelling of the 1971 war (“Indira single-handedly defeated America!”) conveniently skips the Soviet Union’s role, making it sound like Pakistan lost to a one-woman army. Islamabad can’t believe its luck—an Indian leader who downplays India’s actual victories!

For Questioning Every Surgical Strike

Whether it’s Balakot or any unnamed military operation, Rahul Gandhi has made it a personal mission to ensure Pakistan’s version of events always has an Indian echo. While Pakistani news anchors struggle with credibility, Rahul delivers sharp, well-televised rebuttals to Indian defence claims — straight from Bhopal to Rawalpindi. Why waste ISPR budgets when you have Rahul Gandhi?

Pakistan’s Unofficial PR Chief On A World Tour

Let’s give credit where it’s due: if Pakistan ever needs a global brand ambassador who doesn’t require a visa, a briefing, or even a subtle nudge, they’ve got Rahul Gandhi. Every year, like clockwork, he gallivants across the globe — from Harvard to Hamburg — and what does he do? No sightseeing, no shopping. No sir, he dives straight into high-level public relations work… for Pakistan.

While most Indian politicians are stuck dealing with boring stuff like policy or potholes, Rahul is out there shaking hands with every Pakistani-origin person outside his country that he can find — making them feel seen, heard, and thoroughly appreciated. Now that’s diplomacy!

Rahul Gandhi’s Pearls Of Wisdom In The Form Of Lectures

Then come the lectures. Ah yes, the lectures. With the grace of a TED Talker and the consistency of a Pakistani foreign ministry press release, he paints a vivid picture of India as a place where democracy is gasping, minorities are fleeing, and even the Constitution is reportedly under “mortal danger.”

Frankly, if Rahul Gandhi weren’t already in politics, Pakistan would’ve offered him a full-time job in their Ministry of Information. In fact, we hear Islamabad’s PR team has a framed photo of him next to Jinnah and a quote: “When he speaks, we don’t have to.” So yes, if this isn’t stellar outreach and PR for Pakistan, then what is? The man’s doing cross-border image management — pro bono!

For Reminding Indians That India Is The Problem

At a time when Pakistan is battling image issues ranging from terror financing to democracy breakdowns, Rahul Gandhi offers a welcome distraction: India. According to him, the real danger isn’t Hafiz Saeed or the Taliban. It’s the RSS, a bunch of khaki-clad boomers doing yoga in Nagpur. Never has the enemy been so efficiently relocated.

What Pakistan Stands To Gain

  • Free PR: Every time Rahul speaks, Pakistan gets its desired publicity, across the world – Pakistan begins trending on social media!
  • BJP Meltdowns Guaranteed: His mere existence ensures BJP spends more time attacking him than countering actual Pakistani propaganda.
  • A Strong Case forMost Useful Indian’ Award: Forget Bharat Ratna—this man deserves Nishan-e-Pakistan for services rendered to Pakistan at times of need.

The Verdict: Award The Man Immediately!

Rahul Gandhi may not always know what he’s saying, where he’s saying it, or why. But he says it — loudly, passionately, and usually with some historical analogy involving Indira Gandhi and invisible phone calls. Pakistan must not let this moment slip away.

The Nishan-e-Pakistan has been given to Nelson Mandela, Yasser Arafat, and even Queen Elizabeth II, apart from it being given to former Indian PM Morarji Desai, Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and a leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community. Surely, there’s room for the man who brings so much joy to Pakistani newsrooms and confusion to Indian living rooms.

If Pakistan doesn’t award him soon, they’re missing the golden opportunity totake controlof India in the most unexpected way possible.

(Disclaimer: This is satire. Any resemblance to actual political logic is purely coincidental.)

kamal haasan thug life dmk

They granted permission for special screenings of his latest release Thug Life, starting as early as 9 AM and running until 2 AM, allowing the maximum five shows on 5 June 2025 to ensure a strong release for Mani Ratnam’s much-anticipated film.

This comes under the backdrop of a request from the film’s producers, Raaj Kamal Films International, the Tamil Nadu government has authorized an additional screening scheduled for 9 AM on release day. As per regulations, theatres can run up to five shows a day, with the final show required to conclude by 2 AM.

Difference Between Kannada Star Yash And The So-Called ‘Universal Star’ DMK Stooge Kamal Haasan

Amid a growing controversy over his recent remarks about the Kannada language, actor Kamal Haasan has refused to apologise and stated that his upcoming film Thug Life will not be released in Karnataka for the time being. His comments, made during a promotional event last month, have sparked widespread backlash.

In contrast, an old video of KGF star Yash has resurfaced and gone viral. In the clip, Yash speaks about unity and cultural harmony, quoting the ancient Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam“The world is one family.” He says:

“This is our Indian culture. A very long time ago, we has said that the world is one family—Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. So we are all the same. We may speak different languages and follow different customs, but at the end of the day, we’re all human beings living under one huge fantastic country. So it feel good. To say the truth, it genuinely feels like home wherever I go, and that’s not just a punchline. Everywhere they receive me that way and give immense respect. This is what this country needs.”

Yash’s remarks have been praised for their inclusiveness, with many online users and critics drawing comparisons between his humility and Kamal Haasan’s ego. Critics argue that Haasan, despite over five decades in cinema, has failed to embrace such unity. His statement claiming that “Kannada originated from Tamil” has particularly offended many Kannadigas, who view it as sentimentally disrespectful.

Haasan is now being criticized for letting his Dravidian ideological leanings cloud his judgment, with detractors accusing him of insensitivity and arrogance. Many believe that such “loose talk,” as it’s been called online, only deepens regional divides rather than promoting the cultural respect a country as diverse as India requires.

Karnataka HC Criticizes Kamal Haasan Over Controversial Language Remark, Film Release Delayed

Kamal Haasan’s production house informed the Karnataka High Court on 3 June that there was no need for an apology, and that a written explanation had already been submitted in response to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce’s (KFCC) demand.

The Karnataka High Court, however, strongly criticized the actor-politician for his recent controversial statement during a promotional event, where he claimed that the Kannada language originated from Tamil. The court remarked that Haasan’s comment had stirred public unrest in Karnataka and provoked widespread backlash.

Emphasizing national unity amid linguistic diversity, the bench stated, “There may be many languages in India, but the country remains one.”

Haasan approached the court seeking clearance for the release of his upcoming film Thug Life in Karnataka. During the hearing, the court granted him time until 2:30 PM on 2 June to “make amends,” stressing that fame does not give anyone the right to offend public sentiment.

“You may be Kamal Haasan, You may be anybody, but that doesn’t allow you to hurt the feelings of the masses,” the court observed. It further added, “Discretion is the better part of valour. No one is above public sentiment. Mistakes do happen, but one must also know how to respond when they do.”

Justice Nagaprassana said “No language can be born out of another. Where is the material to support this (claim)? And what has happened? Disharmony. And what have the people of Karnataka asked? (Only) an apology….The circumstances were created by Kamal Haasan, and he has said he will not apologise? You have undermined the sentiment of the people of Karnataka … On what basis? Are you a historian? Or a linguist?”

“Now you are here for a commercial interest, that police should protect for a situation created by you! One apology would have solved everything. In law, we will consider. But look at the attitude!”, the court slammed the actor.

These comments were made during the hearing of a petition filed by Raajkamal Films International, Haasan’s production company, which sought permission for the Karnataka release of Thug Life. The court postponed further proceedings in the matter to June 10.

Background of the Controversy

The KFCC recently imposed a ban on the release of Thug Life in Karnataka following Kamal Haasan’s remarks about the Kannada language, which he made during a promotional event in Chennai. His assertion that “Kannada is born from Tamil” sparked significant outrage, particularly among Kannada advocacy groups and regional organizations.

Speaking at an event in Chennai just weeks after the trailer release of his upcoming film ‘Thug Life’, Haasan opened his speech with the phrase “Uyire Urave Tamizhe”, which translates to “My life, and my family, is in Tamil language”.

Referring to the presence of Kannada actor Shivarajkumar at the same event, Haasan said, “This is my family in that place. That’s why he (Shivarajkumar) has come here. That’s why I began my speech by saying, life, family and Tamil. Your language (Kannada) was born out of Tamil, so you too are included (part of it).”

DMK Ally And Panruti MLA T Velmurugan Slams DMK Over Evictions In Chennai

"Used For Votes, Discarded After Elections", DMK Ally TVK Chief Velmurugan Hits Out At DMK For Disrespecting Alliance Partners, Claims Admin Failures In Cuddalore Flood Management And Aftermath panruti mla velmurugan evictions in chennai

Tamilaga Vazhvumurai Katchi (TVK) president and Panruti MLA T. Velmurugan has slammed the DMK, his party’s ally, over the eviction and demolition of homes in areas like Anakaputhur and Saidapet in Chennai.

Speaking at an event organized by the Tamil Nadu Cauvery Farmers Association, Velmurugan condemned the ruling DMK government for forcibly removing residents from 15 villages, including Eknapuram, allegedly to make way for a private airport project that “doesn’t even have a single flight.

Drawing parallels with demolitions in Delhi, Velmurugan said, “Here, for the sake of a private (entity) Tata that doesn’t even have a single flight, people from 15 villages including Eknapuram are being chased out and thrown away. Today, in Delhi, a thousand homes are being demolished. There is no one to question. Children are crying, schoolboys and girls in uniform, there’s no one to hear them. Fine, in Delhi, it’s at least 2000 miles away. In Delhi, if it’s the BJP government, then in our own Tamil Nadu, it’s our alliance government the DMK government in Chennai that is demolishing and throwing out people from marginalised communities, from coastal regions, from riverside areas poor people displacing daily wage workers. From Kundrathur to Anakaputhur, from Saidapet to all parts of the city, they are being evicted and their homes razed. No one listens. And if questioned, they say the High Court ordered. So, I ask the High Court judges, you who sit on the judgement and deliver justice aren’t you aware that even the Madurai High Court is built on lakes and ponds? They say Valluvar Kottam was also built like that. Many star hotels, commercial complexes, and government buildings in Chennai all those tall towers and massive structures have been built on land that belonged to farmers or on waterbodies. Shouldn’t that be demolished and cleared instead of  clearing the homes of innocent people. One poor Muslim sister, with her two daughters, is falling at the feet of a police officer, begging him, crying — yet no one to listen. They just demolish and move on like nothing.”

What Prompted Velmurugan’s Outburst?

The criticism came in response to widespread evictions and demolitions taking place in Anakaputhur, particularly in areas like Quaid-E-Millath Nagar and Stalin Nagar. The Tambaram Corporation, citing flood mitigation efforts, has begun clearing what it says are unauthorized structures along the Adyar River.

According to officials, nearly 600 concrete homes are marked for demolition, with 593 structures already labeled as illegal encroachments. The operation, now in its third day, has already seen more than 300 homes demolished, following earlier similar efforts in Shanthi Nagar and Moogambi Nagar.

Corporation Commissioner S. Balachander, along with police and revenue officials, is overseeing the process to ensure public order. The government insists that residents are being relocated to newly built homes in Keerapakkam and Thailavaram, with resettlement plans also including Perumbakkam and Navalur.

Why Are Residents Protesting?

While authorities claim the demolitions are legally sanctioned and necessary for public safety, many residents say they’ve lived in these areas for decades—some for over 50 years. Several say they were even promised official land titles (pattas) not long before demolition notices were served.

Locals argue that the areas being cleared have established roads, power lines, and individual electricity meters provided by the government—calling into question the claim that their homes are illegal encroachments.

Furthermore, families report serious issues with the resettlement sites, citing lack of basic amenities and unsuitable living conditions. Many have been relocated far from their original neighborhoods, disrupting livelihoods, children’s education, and long-standing community bonds.

From Opposing CAA & Article 370 Abrogation To Calling For Sterlite Shutdown: Meet ‘Communist’ IIT-Bombay Professor Anupam Guha Who Supports Anti-Israel Pro-Hamas Speech By MIT Student

Anupam Guha, a professor at IIT Bombay, is facing criticism after voicing support for Indian American student Megha Vemuri, who was recently barred from attending her graduation ceremony at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Vemuri, the president of MIT’s Class of 2025, was reportedly prevented from participating after delivering a pro-Palestine speech during an official event on 29 May 2025.

In a post on X, Guha commented, “That MIT student has courage and did an admirable thing. At her age, I might not have gone that far.” His statement quickly gained widespread attention and sparked debate online.

Following this, Guha has come under scrutiny not just for this specific statement, but also for his broader history of political commentary and activism. Critics argue that he frequently uses his academic position to promote leftist political ‘extremist’ ideologies, especially through his focus on humanities and technology policy.

Guha has previously supported several controversial protests, including the 2018 anti-Sterlite agitation in Tamil Nadu. That movement led to the permanent closure of the Sterlite copper plant after violent demonstrations resulted in the deaths of 13 people. The shutdown significantly impacted India’s copper production, turning the country from a net exporter to a net importer.

In his post, he wrote, “Capitalism cannot function without State terrorism. Perfect example of that is the Sterlite protest. My solidarity with the tens of thousands of brave protestors resisting for years that copper smelting plant resulting in nine martyrs. Down with Vedanta!”

In addition, Guha has been vocal in his opposition to the revocation of Article 370 in 2019, which ended Jammu and Kashmir’s special constitutional status. He described the move as “constitutionally illegitimate.”

In his post, he stated, “Read this sharp and detailed explainer by @MaLawdy on why what happened is most probably constitutionally illegitimate firstpost.com/india/understa…”

Guha is also associated with the Kosambi Circle, a Communist group he founded that explores Marxist and revolutionary political thought. The group engages with works by thinkers such as M.N. Roy and M.P.T. Acharya.

His social media activity during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) protests in 2020 also drew attention. Guha actively participated in campus demonstrations and encouraged IIT Bombay students to join a march “to save the Constitution.”

He stated, “For the last 8 days the faculty, students, staff and people in IITB have protested in a row, against NRC-CAA-NPR and against the brutality done on various campuses. There were teach ins, songs, and discussions. Today will be the last protest and a march. Come in large numbers.”

Furthermore, Guha has written so much that reflects Marxist and separatist perspectives on the Kashmir issue, including writings by authors like Aatina Nasir Malik and Khadeeja Raina, which explore themes of childhood and violence in conflict zones.

Anupam Guha, a humanities professor at IIT Bombay, also expressed strong opposition to the use of the term ‘tukde tukde gang’, going so far as to label those who use it as akin to terrorists in his view.

Guha wrote, “Not just an enabler. A participant in stochastic terrorism.” In another post he stated, “They are quite adept at destroying data. Everything must be archived. And yes, one day the whole lot will be prosecuted.”

In related threads, Guha’s involvement with The Collective, a communist organization, is also noted. He has been a speaker at their events, including a workshop held on International Working Women’s Day that focused on systemic issues in labor and employment.

The Collective also had a problem with Maoist neutralisation that took place recently. They called it ‘Adivasi genocide’!. On their handle, they wrote, “We will not forget the extrajudicial killing of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Com. Nambala Keshava Rao (Basavaraj) and 26 martyrs amid call for ceasefire and peace talks! Stop Adivasi genocide for corporate plunder in the name of Operation Kagaar!”

Anupam Guha openly identifies as a communist and is accused of using his academic platform to advocate for radical ideological positions.

Anna University Sexual Assault Case: Here’s How DMK Govt Tried To Cover Up And Protect The Culprit Gnanasekaran

annamalai cdr anna university sexual assault case

After the Madras High Court sentenced DMK supporter Gnanasekaran to life imprisonment with a minimum of 30 years without remission the DMK believed the controversy surrounding the case, particularly the infamous question “Who is that sir?”, had finally been laid to rest. However, the matter didn’t end there. The opposition demanded a thorough investigation to uncover who had been protecting Gnanasekaran, pointing fingers at a potentially high-ranking DMK figure.

In line with his earlier commitment, former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai had promised to release call detail records (CDRs) in January 2025 if those behind the scenes were not held accountable. Following the court’s verdict, Annamalai released a video detailing the timeline of Gnanasekaran’s communications. The exposé revealed that Gnanasekaran had been in contact with influential DMK men, senior police officials, and even the DMK Health Minister Ma Subramanian. Most notably, right after committing the act of harassment, he reportedly contacted the Station House Officer (SHO) of the local police station—a significant revelation.

Below is the timeline of events as exposed by BJP leader Annamalai.

23 December 2024

  • 8:52 PM: Gnanasekaran, the accused, switched off flight mode on his phone.
  • 8:55 PM: He made his first call—to a police officer.
  • 9:01 PM: The same officer returned the call.

24 December 2024:

  • Gnanasekaran and Kottupuram DMK leader Kottur Shanmugam had six separate phone conversations.
  • Later that day, Gnanasekaran was taken into custody and brought to the police station.
  • He was released that same day.

After His Release (24 December):

  • Gnanasekaran called Kottur Shanmugam.
  • At 8:30 PM and again at 8:32 PM, Kottur Shanmugam spoke over the phone with Tamil Nadu Minister Ma. Subramanian.
  • Kottur Shanmugam also contacted a police officer at 8:59 PM and again at 9:07 PM.

Between 23 and 26 December, Kottur Shanmugam and a person named Natarajan allegedly in control of the Anna University gates communicated 13 times.

Annamalai, in his video, summarized this communication timeline as a sign of deeper political involvement. He also stated that he would release more information depending on how the DMK government responds.

Insult To India’s Pride: RLD Slams Rahul Gandhi Over ‘Surrender’ Remarks

Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader and former MP Malook Nagar, on Wednesday, hit out strongly at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “surrendered” to US President Donald Trump during Operation Sindoor. Speaking to IANS, Nagar dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s statement as “irresponsible” and “an insult to the nation’s pride”.

He said, “In today’s scenario, when Pakistan was forced to surrender, when it was brought to its knees and had to beg for a ceasefire, how can anyone say that our Prime Minister surrendered?” Rahul Gandhi made the controversial comment during a rally in Bhopal on Tuesday, alleging that PM Modi had “immediately surrendered” after a call from Donald Trump during the India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement announced on May 10.

“Trump gave a signal from the US, picked up the phone and said, ‘Narendra, surrender’, and Narendra Modi ji obeyed Trump’s directions,” Gandhi said. Malook Nagar rejected this claim, asserting that it was Pakistan that faced defeat, not India. “The whole world is witnessing how India struck deep into enemy territory. Our economy has now reached the fourth spot globally. There is applause for India across the world,” he said. He further added, “If you say the Prime Minister surrendered, what do you mean? That he gives up on the country’s interests? That’s absolutely false. No child would believe that Prime Minister Modi surrendered. These are baseless allegations.”

Nagar also accused the Congress of undermining national unity and international standing with such statements. “People around the world will laugh at us if such irresponsible remarks are made by opposition leaders. This is not just about PM Modi; it’s about India’s global image,” he said. Calling Rahul Gandhi’s comments “completely reckless,” Nagar said, “We don’t need mediation from anyone. Our agencies and our armed forces have made everything clear. We’ve already rejected any external interference.” He also criticised the Congress for internal contradictions.

“Some Congress leaders say if Rahul Gandhi were in power, he would’ve taken back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Does that mean Nehru and Indira Gandhi were irresponsible Prime Ministers, and Rahul is more capable than them? Are they now issuing certificates of greatness to Rahul Gandhi by discrediting their own party’s legacy?” he asked. Nagar concluded by urging the Congress to rein in its leadership and maintain national dignity. “Such statements from the opposition weaken the nation. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership should behave more responsibly,” he said.
