PM Modi dedicates Asia’s largest solar project to the nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a massive 750 megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Madhya Pradesh.

He highlighted that this is testament to India’s self-reliant approach.

Union Power Minister RK Singh said that Chinese firms have been dumping cheap solar equipment into India at a meeting on 4 July, 2020. On the same day, the centre announced India would no longer import power equipment from China and Pakistan amid tension along the Line of Actual Control.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has a vast urban train network that highly depends on reliable electricity.

It will be the project’s first customer in Rewa of north-east Madhya Pradesh.

An amount of ₹4,500 crore was invested to build it.

Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel from Lucknow and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Bhopal were virtually present at the launch of the solar-project.

The project has three solar power generating units of 250 MW each on 500 hectare, taking the total output to 750 MW on 1,500 hectare.

Madhya Pradesh will get 76% electricity from the Rewa solar plant and 24% to Delhi Metro.

“We must work towards reducing our import dependency on solar panels and related equipment. We need to speed up our production capacity of solar modules… and solar batteries should be made in India. We need to speed up all work in these areas,” PM Modi said at the virtual launch of the project.

UN chief Antonio Guterres praised India as a “good example” of pursuing clean energy.

Brazil ban Amazon fires to placate investors

Deforestation in Amazon has hit the roof in the last couple of years under the government of Jair Bolsanaro who recently was tested positive for COVID-19.

Facing backlash over the brazen environmental destruction, the Jair Bolsanaro government has put forward a four-month ban on fires in the Amazon and Pantanal regions.

The Environment Ministry will draft the decree.

In 2019, the government banned fires for 60 days followed by another 60 days.

The government has been receiving criticism from international investors urging to take strict action against the deteriorating conditions of Amazon forest.

In response to the criticism, they hope to use the moratorium to prove that they are against the destruction of the environment.

On Tuesday, a group of companies such as pulp maker Suzano SA, meatpacker Marfrig Global Foods SA, and agribusiness giant Cargill Inc. expressed that the negative perceptions are damaging the name of their business prospects via a letter which was sent to the authorities.

Environment Minister Ricardo Salles urged Bolsonaro to take advantage of global leaders’ Covid-19 blinders to simplify regulations.

In early June, Amazon Environmental Research Institute, known as Ipam, warned that an area 11 times the size of New York City could be incinerated in the dry season.

National Institute for Space Research data showed that the first month of the dry season, fires in this biome rose to a 13-year high.

In Pantanal, the world’s largest wetland area, the number of fires in June this year is more than double of those recorded last year.

India makes it clear to China: Invites Australia to take part in the Malabar exercise

The Indian government is to invite Australia to take part in the Malabar Naval exercise an exercise that has so far included just Japan and the U.S. This has been done despite the possibility of facing strong objections from China. This decision comes after the recent escalation of border tensions with China, and will be the first time that the Quad – which is the term denoting these regional members – are convening for a military drill. A formal invitation is expected to be extended from India’s side to the Australian government next week, following final government clearance and consultations with the U.S. and Japan.

The Quad was revived in 2017, which was formed in 2004 in the aftermath of tsunami, to help the nations in the Indo-Pacific region combat its after-effects.

“The timing of India potentially letting Australia into Malabar would be especially significant at this juncture,” said Derek Grossman, a researcher at the Washington-based RAND Corporation who worked in the U.S. intelligence community for more than a decade. “It would send a significant message to China that the Quad — U.S., Australia, Japan, and India — are de facto conducting joint naval exercises, even if not technically conducted under the auspices of a Quad event.”

In a video conference between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian PM Scott Morrison in June, the long-pending Mutual Logistics Support Agreement was signed and also elevated their partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

You can now speak to Alexa without pressing the blue button

A new Amazon feature now lets you go hands-free in the Alexa app. Whether you are on the go, or at home but not near to your Amazon Echo, you can still access Alexa on your speaker with just your voice.

Users of the Alexa Companion App on iOS and Android are in for a different experience as Amazon is making a small change to the app and as a result. Now, the user is not required to tap the blue Alexa button on the screen anymore to say a voice command.

However, the new hands-free feature will work only if the user launches the app and continuously keeps it open on their phone, the Verge reported. iOS users will only be able to use Alexa on their iPhone after unlocking and launching it first.

Users who want to use Alexa as a voice assistant, can opt for Amazon’s co-branded “Alexa-Built In” smartphones where partners it with Android manufacturers like OnePlus, Motorola, and Sony.

On Windows computers, Alexa has been hands-free since last year. Amazon’s Music App has also had a hands-free mode since 2017, allowing the user to ask Alexa to play music with their voice.

From the lanes of Mirzapur to the corridors of South Block: Tracing Rajnath Singh’s Journey

From the humble streets of Mirzapur, there was a man who would go on to become a five-time Union minister. This man is Rajnath Singh, a man who had worked his way up the political ladder, and someone who is one of BJP’s staunch idealists.

Humble Beginnings

Born to a family of farmers in the Bhabhaura village of Uttar Pradesh, he secured a master’s degree in physics from Gorakhpur University. He had been with the RSS ever since he was 13 years old, and was appointed as the secretary for the Mirzapur unit of the Bharatiya Janata Sangh in 1974, which would later evolve into the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Up the political ladder

Rajnath Singh was barely 24 years old when he was appointed the District President of the Jana Sangh. In 1977, he became the MLA of Mirzapur, where it had all started. This paved the way for him to become the education minister of Uttar Pradesh as well as the MP representing the BJP. He made a lot of reforms during his tenure, including modernization of scientific texts and the incorporation of Vedic maths into the syllabus. He was also the key brain behind the Anti-Copying Act of that State.

His first-ever stint at being a member of the Rajya Sabha was when he was elected as the Minister of Road Transport and Highways in the first Vajpayee government, followed by his position as the Minister of Agriculture in the second Vajpayee government in 2003. In the period between the two Rajya Sabha positions, he also served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in between 2000 and 2002.

He has the reputation of having been a Union Minister 4 times, being one of the very few ministers to have done so. He has also served the position of being the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh as well as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Key accolades

Because of his humble background as a farmer’s son, he was empathetic towards the plight of Indian farmers and was instrumental in several projects like the Kisan Call Centre and the Farm Income Insurance Scheme. Interest rates of farmers’ loans were the lowest during his tenure.

Even when not in power, he spearheaded the Ram Mandir construction struggle and was one of the key faces behind the “Mandir Wahin Banega” movement.

During his tenure as the home minister during the first Modi government, he launched the Bharat Ke Veer portal for martyred jawans. An official anthem was also launched for this portal in 2018. He was the one who commissioned the Bastariya Battalion, and he attended the passing out parade of this battalion in his tenure as the Home Minister in May 2018.

He has mentioned in several interviews that he had never asked to become the Prime Minister because he had said that in his eyes he could never become Vajpayee. Above all of this, he was someone who was at the helm of BJP’s transition as a national party and someone who was instrumental in bringing out leaders like Narendra Modi to the forefront.

South China Sea is India’s trump card with China

As China tries to take full control of the South China Sea and along with all the resources, India has a strong intention to carry out navigation activities in this volatile region of South-East Asia.

China has a territorial dispute with almost all its South-Eastern neighbours and has laid claims to vast swathes of territories that have created an environment of fear in this region.

To counter China, Philippines Defence Minister Delfin Lorenzana has called on nations to navigate in the South China Sea.

The Minister said, “We do not prevent other countries from passing through or doing things there in the South China Sea. The British do pass through the South China Sea. The French, all other countries. We do not invite them to come,”

China has a territorial dispute with the Philippine and this island nation is very much concerned over China’s vastly superior military prowess. China has been conducting naval exercises in the region and there are reports of its navy violating the territorial waters of other nations.

China has been an exclusive violator of the Exclusive Economic Zone of South-East Asian countries like the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.

All this is related to Xi Jinping’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). By controlling the SCS region, China will also control the economies of all Southeast Asian countries.

In 2014, China rejected international arbitration over the South China Sea disputes violating the inviolable international maritime laws. China decided to ignore and rejected the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

In the last few years, China has made a claim for territories with many countries on the bases of “historic rights”. China accused Philippines of filing a case with the arbitral tribunal, violating an existing agreement to settle the South China Sea dispute through negotiations.

In a time of global crisis due to the Wuhan Virus, the time has come to hold China responsible for its actions. For many years the People’s Republic of China (PRC) conduct towards international law has been the object of several inquiries.

China sees India as its rival in Asia and instead of working together, it wants total hegemony over Asia. Its actions in the Galwan valley and Doklam that led over two months standoff between the armed forces of two nuclear-powered nations created tension at the international level.

With every nation doing its best fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, China has been testing the patience of many countries by its systematic aggression and assertion. After the end of the World War II, no nation other than China has so many disputes running concurrently. China seems to conjure territorial disputes out of thin air.

Just recently it deescalated a dangerous situation in the Himalayas and it has ongoing disputes in the SCS region and now it has laid claim to territories in Bhutan and has demanded area in the eastern part of the country through its historic rights.

India in the South China Sea

The invitation to navigate the SCS by the Philipines will cause heartburn to China to counter China’s aggressive naval exercises. The resent telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte emphasised on the need to expand strategic partnership with the Philippines in the South China Sea region.

In 2019 navies from India, USA, Philippines and Japan conducted joint sail in the South China Sea region to let China know of there presence. Right now nuclear-powered aircraft carriers – USS Nimitz and USS Ronald Reagan are patrolling in the international waters of South China Sea.

The US which has the worlds largest navy increased its military activity and naval presence in the region in recent years, including freedom of navigation operations (FONOPs).

China sees such actions as a direct challenge to its and accused the US of undermining stability in the area. In an unheard-of claim, China has asserted over 90 per cent of areas in the SCS region and Beijing has disputes with five other nations who also have a legitimate claim.

It is estimated some 11 billion barrels of untapped oil and 190 trillion cubic feet of natural gas can be extracted in SCS. The other claimants include Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam. This area is also in other natural resources and fishing.

The strategic advantage of India in the Strait of Malacca

Theoretically, India can also control and choke China in the Strait of Malacca with its navy. The Indian Navy for some time has been strengthening the operational presence and readiness in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which are very close to the Strait of Malacca. India is a lot closer to the narrow strait between Indonesia and Malaysia and can run more patrols.

If things escalate with China, India can potentially close off the Strait of Malacca and choke oil shipments to China, the world’s largest oil importer. Which is why China is developing China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Gwadar, Balochistan to Kashgar, China by building railway lines.

India already has a strategic advantage over China in the Strait of Malacca. If India decides to legally explore and navigate the South China Sea, it will embolden other nations to stand up against China who sees only India strong enough to counter China.

After Maridhas, Channel Vision News Head Madan Ravichandran comes out with guns blazing, exposes the inside world of TN mainstream media

The Tamil Nadu mainstream media houses like Puthiyathalaimurai, News 7, News 18 Tamil Nadu which has been accused of ideological hegemony and creating a narrative that is favourable to the DK, DMK and Communists has been facing backlash from two prominent social media personalities – Madan Ravichandran of Channel Vision and Youtuber Maridhas.

Popular vlogger and social media activist Maridhas released a video on July 5 exposing the nexus between journalists at News 18 Tamil Nadu and the DK, DMK and Communists. He also sheds light on an organization called Centre of Media Persons for Change (CMPC) (www.cmpc.in) which seems to be an extension of communists, DK groups.

Some of the persons associated with CMPC and content writers in news channels like News 18, Puthiyathalaimurai trace their history to One Mind Generation Research run by Udhayanidhi Stalin (son of MK Stalin), Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi (son of former MLA and close confidante of MK Stalin Anbil Poyyamozhi), Mohan Karthik (son of current Anna Nagar MLA M.K. Mohan of DMK) and Sabareesan (son-in-law of MK Stalin).

In light of this, News Head of Channel Vision Madan Ravichandran who was earlier part of some of these mainstream media channels exposes them by providing an inside view.

In the video titled “Thidal Udaga Sombugalin Kadhai”, roughly translating to “The Story of Thidal (Periyar Memorial) Media Houses”, Madan Ravichandran traces the journey of his experience right from his recruitment to how ended up doing what he is doing now.

He says that it has been his interest to work in the press by becoming a journalist in one of the mainstream media houses in Tamil Nadu for which he is said to have undertaken a 3 months journalism course. He says that he started applying for the roles of sub-editor and anchor in some of the today’s well-known Tamil news channels and adds that he would clear the written test rounds but not pass the interview round. He notes that during the interview they test the ideological and political affiliations of one by asking “who is your favourite leader?” Madan says that he answered “Netaji Subash Chandra Bose” in one and “Velupillai Prabhakaran” in another interview and both the times he failed to get the job.

He remarks that he just spent ₹500 that did the trick for him. He says that he bought a T-shirt with E.V. Ramasamy Naicker (Periyar)’s photo and showed up in events attended by journalists of these media houses. He notes that he had to create the impression that he was “Periyarist” and finally managed to land up at a news channel.

Upon entering, he found that there were several people who were working in that place who had bypassed the processes that he had to go through to get the job. He says that one of them was a DMK MLA’s sister’s son and adds that there were many other people who had connection with the party or its affiliates.

“Sometimes, persons who are the same caste of the Editor are hired”, he says.

He says, a commoner from a middle class background has to cross several hurdles to get the job in these media houses but those with the party backing and its affiliates bypass all these process. This, he says is against Periyar’s ideals. He also says that it is an added advantage for candidates who apply for jobs in these outlets if they wear a Periyar T-shirt or take a photo at Periyar’s memorial.

He says that his life in media took a turn after his interview with Dravida Kazhagam President K. Veeramani. In that interview, Veeramani walks out after facing tough questions from Madan. He mentions that there were hurdles in airing that interview. He says that since then, he came to be identified as a “Sanghi”. He was discriminated at his workplace post that interview. In order to prove that he is not a Sanghi he says that he interviewed Rangaraj Pandey, the CEO of Chanakyaa, who the DK, DMK and Communist folks identify as an RSS person. He says that it is only then that the discrimination against him stopped.

He also mentions that religious sentiments are hurt and quotes an incident when he turned up at office with sacred ash on his forehead on Thaipoosam day and one ‘junior Maniammai’ and ‘junior Periyar’ passed a derogatory adult joke about it. He said that he brushed it away considering that they were atheist. However the same people were sucking up to the owner of the channel by smearing sacred ash on their forehead when they found that he was a devotee of Lord Murugan.

After this, he had shifted to another channel where during his interview he was asked what his caste was. “It was your people who made ‘that party and alliance’ lose right?”, the channel’s editor had supposedly asked Madan. He had told Madan to not venture into any ‘revolution’ but dance to the tunes of the one party and their affiliates. He got the job but he faced frequent interventions from his boss. They had placed a video editor who would edit out portions that would show the DMK, DK or the Communists in bad light. This person was supposedly part of another news channel, who stole some tapes from there and joined in this channel due to a tiff between those two media houses.

In one of the interviews with Velmurugan (Tamizhaga Vaazhvurimai Katchi leader), the latter had mentioned that Mr. Vaiko, the present Rajya Sabha MP was put in jail and beaten during the DMK’s period. This portion was edited out fearing backlash.

Madan asks if they are journalists or party men in disguise.

After this controversy, he was asked to do interviews with cinema stars. Even then, he was told to not touch topics about lyricist Vairamuthu of #MeToo fame who had sexually harassed singer Chinmayi Sripada.

Later, he shifted to another channel where the owner had promised full freedom to him. However, the Editor-in-Chief Jen Ram had cut his wings by restricting him only to Youtube. Ram had told Madan ‘to soft tread’.

After interviewing Aloor Sha Navas, the Deputy General Secretary of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, the latter had apparently called the Editor-in-Chief and lashed out at Madan saying “How dare that Sanghi fellow ask me such questions?”

Since this incident, Ram had asked Madan not to proceed with any interview without getting all aspects of the interview (the guests, questions, interview time, etc) vetted by him.

Madan asks if this is the freedom of expression that they stand for.

He was to interview former DMK MLA and DK ideologue Suba Veerapandian who Madan says he has huge respects for considering the depth of his knowledge and his conduct. But Ram did not allow it. Madan later approached WIN News’ owner Devanathan who gave the go ahead to Madan. This interview became a huge hit on Youtube. Post this, the employees at WIN News part of Ram’s lobby had protested against Madan by wearing black ribbons for his interview with Suba Vee.

Suba Vee had even posted in his Facebook that Madan had asked the right questions but that it was Suba Vee who lost to him.

Madan asks “Is this the neutrality that you preach? After Suba Vee, I interviewed H. Raja where I had asked questions cornering him”

At a later point in the video he says that he got branded as a Tamil Nationalist for having Velupillai Prabhakaran’s photo on Maaveerar Day (November 27) and was kicked out of the particular news channel he was working with then, citing that “he won’t be able to mingle as they were going in a ‘different direction’”. He says that, when he had invited Naam Tamilar Katchi’s (NTK) Kaliammal for a debate in his show, he was lashed out by the editor of the channel saying “Do you think I am running a channel for promoting NTK?”

When the Pollachi murder and rape case happened, the editor of the channel that he was working with then, had asked to ‘sensationalize’ the issue to trigger a protest like the Jallikattu protests. He says that the editors’ lobby in the Tamil Nadu media had decided to focus on that particular to create a favourable atmosphere for the DMK.

Madan also highlights how these news channels ‘balances’ by having the non-DMK party members for special programmes about their personal journeys, interviews, etc. He says that they exploit the desire of members belonging to smaller parties to get featured on TV by inviting them for debates. However, they are cornered by the moderator and other panelists during the debate to establish their supremacy.

He says that some of the parties will not voice out against this and rightly so because, then there would be accusations of “stifling of voices”.

Madan also takes dig at social media personality and the DMK mouthpiece Savukku Shankar as he had put a tweet that said that Channel Vision has a person from ADMK investing in it.

He says that Savukku Shankar who had once released highly confidential documents and tapes has now come down to the level where he has to counter people like Madan.

He points out how Savukku Shankar’s lifestyle, who was once smoking a “beedi and ordinary scissors” has changed now with the latter having an office near Gemini bridge in Chennai and in Nungambakkam, costly watches, bikes, etc after he started functioning as the mouthpiece of DMK. Madan tells that he is not smart enough like Shankar to earn like that.

Madan accepts that there is an investment from an ADMK person along with his own personal investments and from other friends and well-wishers not affiliated to any party. However, they haven’t asked them to be favourable to them. Madan says that he had only one condition for getting investments for his Channel Vision venture – that the person should not have any ties with the DMK or its affiliates because then there would be stifling of his voice.

He ends by saying that he will continue to keep exposing the Tamil news channels and their hidden secrets.

“I have learnt the trade from you. Now I am going to do what you have been doing for years! It will be against you and the party you support!” Madan openly declares.

To the questions about if he will question the ADMK, he says that he will invite ADMK spokespersons for the debate and will be grilled with questions the same way he has been doing. However, he asks Savukku Shankar if whether he will ask the DMK chief MK Stalin and his son Udhayanidhi Stalin to come for a live show on his channel. He also requests Savukku Shankar if he will be obliged to ask Puthiyathalaimurai’s Managing Editor Karthigaichelvan to conduct a debate on suicides happening in SRM college or News 18 Tamil Nadu’s M. Gunasekaran to debate on DK’s many dubious organizations.

Savukku Shankar, the DMK mouth piece did not condemn RS Bharathi’s comments over Dalits or Jagathrakshakan’s investments in Sri Lanka’s Hambantota to build an oil refinery.

He also takes a dig at how Savukku Shankar comments on other’s personal affairs (Recently, he made sexist comments on former TN Health Secretary Beela Rajesh IAS). Madan said that he won’t stoop to such lows like him but requested that he pay alimony to his divorced wife.

Savukku Shankar is believed to have been with the police by many however, he was only a lower level clerical staff who became famous after he exposed sensational documents pertaining to DMK’s corruption in 2G Spectrum Case. He has now taken a complete U-turn.

Madan says that he is willing to face all the challenges thrown at him by Savukku Shankar through DMK or its allies. He says that he still has his people having eyes and ears on Savukku Shankar. “I have voice tapes that might help me in future. Hope you understand” he tells in response to Savukku Shankar.

He also responds to his tweet about Madan Ravichandran wrongly mentioning about Myalpore Jannal Baji shop owner’s death. He apologizes for the same as he got misled by reports published in news agencies. However, he questions Savukku Shankar when his friend M. Gunasekaran of News 18 Tamil Nadu will apologize for his crime of driving Naveena, a woman belonging to Vanniyar caste to commit suicide as it was after Gunasekaran sensationalized the issue that the young lady broke down and fell into depression and later died. Family members of Naveena still accuse Gunasekaran of sensationalizing the issue by conducting a debate on it.

Finally he ends saying that these are just a few pages out of his diary and that more is coming along and that he plans to bring out them in several episodes.

“Afterall, what will you do? You will make me run. I have been on the run. I am used to it. So, bring it on!”, Madan concludes.

On Friday, Channel Vision released a poster of “Madan Diary”.

Here is the link to Madan’s video.

Indian news channels banned in Nepal for reports about PM Oli getting honey-trapped by Chinese Ambassador

In an unprecedented action, Nepal’s cable TV operators on Thursday (10 July), blocked all Indian news channels except Doordarshan after a news channel aired content that said that PM Oli was being honey-trapped by Chinese Ambassador to Nepal.

Nepal’s cable TV operators stopped broadcasting Indian news channels from their networks after the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi, meetings with senior Nepalese leaders.

However, this decision is not official and the ban on Indian news channels was not carried out by the communist-led Nepal government to have plausible deniability.

In New Delhi, Nepal’s Ambassador Nilambar Acharya expressed his displeasure about the Indian media’s coverage of the Chinese envoy’s recent meetings with senior Nepalese political leaders. He was particular about certain derogatory references in these reports.

Dhruv Sharma, vice-president of Mega Max TV cable network, said Indian news channels were resorting to “exaggerated and uncontrolled propaganda” about Nepal, especially “objectionable” reports that referred to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Chinese envoy Hou Yanqi.

Rajan Bhattarai, a member of the central committee of the ruling Nepal Communist Party and foreign affairs advisor to the prime minister, tweeted: “The news coming from Indian media against our PM and government after publication of new Map is condemnable. We completely reject their fabricated & fake reports. We urge them to respect Nepali government & people’s unified position on our sovereignty & national independence.”

It has been reported that the Chinese envoy in Kathmandu is practically running the government and has been instrumental in developing consensus between PM Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka “Prachanda”, who are seeking the ouster of Oli.

Oli has been accused of poor governance amid new map showing the Indian territories of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura as part of Nepal, which has led to a diplomatic row with India.

Reports from Kathmandu suggest that China desperately needs Oli to remain the head of state so it can give colour to its machinations and create more trouble for India. For China, Nepal is another pawn in its quest to encircle India with its string of pearls.

China has been testing India for the last few years to see the extent to which it can push back India. It started with the Doklam standoff in 2017.  The current crises in Ladakh’s Galwan valley where 20 Indian soldiers were killed in an ambush is also seen as an expansionist move of China amidst the pandemic. Indian army in retaliation may have killed over 100 Chinese soldiers.

Indian news channels and a few intelligence and strategic experts have suggested that Nepal’s Prime Minister could be “honey-trapped” by the Chinese Ambassador.

Dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey shot dead in encounter

In a typical cop flick style, gangster Vikas Dubey who was earlier arrested for killing 8 policemen was shot dead in an encounter when he tried to flee after the car in which he was being brought back overturned on the highway.

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) was bringing back the dreaded criminal from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to Kanpur.

The convoy had reached Jhansi in the early hours of Friday. The ANI had tweeted at 6:34 AM that the convoy reached Kanpur.

It can be seen that rains/thundershowers were prevalent over several parts of Uttar Pradesh.

At around 7:20 AM, the ANI tweeted that one of the vehicles of the convoy of the (STF) that was bringing back Vikas Dubey overturned.

It was reported that gangster Vikas Dubey attempted to flee the car after it overturned. Shots were fired by the police and he was later rushed to a hospital.

Later the SP of Kanpur West confirmed that Vikas Dubey was shot dead in retaliatory firing. He said that Vikas Dubey attempted to flee by snatching pistol of the injured policemen after the car overturned. “The police tried to make him surrender, when he fired at the policemen. The police fired in retaliation and he was injured. He was later rushed to the hospital.” the SP said.
