“DMK govt is the only govt in the entire country to have been dismissed for corruption”, TN Minister Udhayakumar says

With the DMK chief MK Stalin issuing statements every other day against the State and Central government for every policy brought, Tamil Nadu Minister R.B. Udhayakumar on Tuesday came down heavy on the former and said that the DMK hold the distinction of having been the only party in power that was dismissed for corruption.

The DMK has been criticizing the State government headed by Edappadi K. Palaniswami saying that the COVID crisis has been mismanaged by the government and that there has been corruption in the procurement of testing and PPE kits.

Speaking at inauguration of a development work in Thirumangalam near Madurai, Revenue and Disaster Management and Information Technology Minister R.B. Udhayakumar said “The spread of corona has come under control in Tamil Nadu due to intensive measures taken by the state government. After three months, the number of corona infections in Tamil Nadu has come down to less than 4,000. The DMK leader MK Stalin has been sitting in AC and room criticizing the government and he blames the AIADMK government as a corrupt government.”

Recalling the pesticide scam, Veernam project scam, and the sugar scams referred in the Sarkaria Commission, the Minister said that the DMK government remains the only government in the country to have been dismissed for corruption.

“People have not forgotten the 2G spectrum scam which surpassed the Watergate scandal of the US”, the Minister said.

“Stalin has said that if the DMK comes to power, a new light would be born in the lives of the people. Stalin should know that it was the DMK that plunged Tamil Nadu into darkness during its last regime and it was Amma [J. Jayalalithaa], who became Tamil Nadu’s beacon.” the Minister said.

India plans to build tunnels near the LAC even as China continues to object

With China refusing to dial down the tension in Ladakh, India has increased the pace of rapid infrastructure development in this region to bolster road connectivity and allow its troops year-long accesses, the India Today reported.

New Delhi has plans to build at least 10 tunnels running up to 100 km in Ladakh and Kashmir that will allow the army and the civilian’s smooth movement throughout the year across mountain passes to forward locations.

The task to build these tunnels is going to be a monumental task, as some of these are at heights more than 17,000 feet and these tunnels will be all-weather connectivity.

The much-needed Atal Tunnel built at the altitude of 10,000 feet in Rohtang was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 3 and this pass has now significantly cut travel time between Manali in Himachal Pradesh and Leh, Ladakh. Also, now the people of Lahaul and Spiti in the hill state will have year-long connectivity.

“The 5 km tunnel is planned at Shinku La (pass). It might take another three years. But once it’s complete it will provide all-weather connectivity to Ladakh,” Lt Gen Harpal Singh Director General Border Roads Organisation was quoted saying in India Today after the inauguration of Atal Tunnel on October 3.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is spearheading all the projects and has proposed eight tunnels that will improve connectivity to Ladakh, and similar projects have also been proposed in Kashmir linking roads to the Line of Control.

However, Beijing has strong reservations to India’s road construction close to the Line of Actual Control which her right, and New Delhi has maintained there is no “violation of existing protocols”.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 44 bridges built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) that has enhanced connectivity to areas leading up to the Line of Actual Control as there is no end in sight with regards to the India-China standoff.

For decades, the policy was not to develop any infrastructure in Ladakh to ensure China is not antagonised, however, the Chinese aggression at the LAC has prompted a relook at the current strategy and expedited several infrastructure projects.

“Without tunneling, all-weather connectivity is not possible because of the heavy snow. The tunnels have been planned keeping in mind the need for road connectivity to the forward most locations,” said an official.

One of the most ambitious projects is to build tunnels at an altitude of 17,800 feet to provide alternate connectivity to Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) and Depsang Plains in Eastern Ladakh.  The Daulat Beg Oldie airfield is very crucial to our military operations and its strategic value cannot be measured.

“A tunnel of about 10 km is needed at Saser La to ensure the 100 km alternate route to DBO can be used through the year. 50 km stretch from Sasoma to Saser La is almost complete but a tunnel is a must beyond this,” said an official privy to the details of the project.

The massive infrastructure projects to build roads, tunnels, and bridges will also provide better connectivity between Siachen Glacier and DBO in Eastern Ladakh and will ensure India has the ability for rapid troop deployment and logistics against China or Pakistan.

Cemetery demolish incident: Indu Makkal Katchi question actions of Tirunelveli Collector and TN political parties

The Indu Makkal Katchi has released a press statement raising questions about the conduct of Tirunelveli District Collector Mrs. Shilpa Prabhakar Satish IAS who was called on by Christian pastors accompanied by several members from Tamil Nadu political parties excluding BJP, to file a complaint against Indu Makkal Katchi (IMK) cadres for demolishing the Christian cemetery built in front of the Uchistha Ganapathy temple at Manimoortheeswaram.

The cemetery built by the local Church right in front of the Manimoortheeswaram Uchistha Ganapathy temple, was demolished on the night of October 17 by members of the Indu Makkal Katchi after repeated pleas by the locals and Hindu organizations to Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments board and the district administration made no progress.

Following this 9 members belonging to IMK surrendered at the police station.

Sources belonging to IMK said that the Christian pastors and the political parties had met the District Collector asking for charging the IMK members under the National Security Act.

In November 2019, Legal Rights Observatory, an non-profit legal activism organization working towards safeguarding Indian interest had filed a complaint with the Tirunelveli District Collector requesting for the removal of encroachment of Christian cemetery.  Responding to that complaint, the district administration had stated that the Christian cemetery is located on a private land. It added that section 145 has been imposed on the piece of land and burial rituals had been stopped due to the objections raised by the devotees and local people.

However, the IMK in its latest press release noted that the land belonging to the temple was illegally usurped by the local Church organization in which one of the organizations kept burying the dead in the cemetery.

“Are the Hindus of Tirunelveli orphans? Where did these political parties go when the temple land was illegally encroached by the Church and a cemetery was built there?”, and went on to add that the DMK-led parties, which have petitioned not to hold the Thamiraparani Pushkarani festival, have now come forward to give a voice to Christians.

“How did these vile political ailments who did not come forward to give a voice to the Nellai Hindus come together en masse for the graves built occupying the space of the temple?”, the IMK said in its press release.

The IMK also questioned how the District Collector allowed a big crowd to enter into her office violating the norms of social distancing and with many members not wearing the face masks properly.

“Will the Collector who showed ‘stood and welcomed’ these people treat us with the same respect if we come to her with a petition to reclaim the land belonging to the temple?”, the IMK press release said.

Serial offender DMK functionary booked for fraud

An office bearer belonging to the DMK has been booked for cheating and extorting who had collected money from public claiming that he was going to make a film.

Kannan is a ward secretary of the DMK belonging to the 114th ward of Tiruvallikkeni-Chepauk constituency.

He had taken ₹2 lakhs from a man named Anbalagan from Chepauk saying that he was going to make a film. He had collected upto ₹6.5 lakhs from different people in the area.

However, as there was no progress about the film being made, people had started asking for their money back. Apart from not giving satisfactory response to those he owed the money, the DMK office bearer even went on to threaten them, sources said.

Following this, four people who had given money to the DMK office bearer had lodged a complaint with the Tiruvallikeni police station.

It is to be noted that the DMK office bearer has a history of indulging in criminal activities and duping people. He and his son were once arrested and kept in jail for cheating a youth and extorting money from him.

In 2017, Kannan’s son Kavithiran had befriended Moorthy, a native of Kallakurichi who had come to study at a college in Chennai. One report stated that the father-son duo had advertised in Moorthy’s college about their movie titled Nammakadha (produced by Kannan featuring his son Kavithiran) stating that anyone who wishes to act in this film could do so by investing in the movie and Moorthy had given ₹1 lakh to Kavithiran for this purpose in 2019.

Another local media report stated that Moorthy had given more than ₹1 lakh to Kavithiran who had supposedly asked Moorthy for money saying that he needed it for his father’s medical expenses.

When Moorthy had asked for his money back he was shown the finger. Depressed, Moorthy had gone back to his native Kallakurichi and tried to make his ends meet by working as a daily wage labourer. He once again tried to get his money back by going to Kavithiran’s house when both Kavithiran and his father Kannan had thrashed him. Following this, Moorthy had registered a police complaint and the father-son duo was arrested in kept in jail.

Not only this, when the DMK was in power in 2006, Kannan had attacked a woman who had participated in a protest against the state government demanding fulfilment of basic necessities. He was convicted of attempt to murder and was sentenced to three years prison.

Australia gets all set to join the Malabar exercise

Australia is all set to join India, the United States, and Japan and next once Navy exercises that are to be taking place in the Indian ocean. This is a move that is expected to strengthen the military relationship between these democracies as the camaraderie between these Nations continue to weaken with China.

Australia is officially a part of the Quad, or the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, which is an allegiance between the aforementioned countries, dealing with regular summits and information exchanges as well as military-related exercises as the one currently taking place. This is a potential balance to the increasing influence of the Chinese forces in the Asia Pacific region, despite not being a formal alliance like NATO.

It is significant to note that Australia will be participating in these exercises after 2007, and it is the first time since then that all the four members of the Quad will officially be present for an exercise as such. These manoeuvres have been conducted ever since 1992, and it has greatly added on over the course of time as a “variety of shared threats to Maritime security in Indo-Asia Pacific region” continues to rise.

Malabar began as a bilateral exercise between India and the US. Japan became a permanent Malabar member in 2015. Previous exercises have taken place in the Indian Ocean as well as off the coast of Japan a year ago, and around the US Pacific territory of Guam and in the Philippine Sea in 2018. “I am nobody’s adopted son”: DMK sympathizer tries to politicize TN student’s NEET success, student clears the air

Jeevith Kumar, and student of Silvarpatti Government Higher Secondary School in Theni district who studied in Tamil medium had scored 664 out of 720 in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020.

His father K. Narayanamoorthi is a goat herder while his mother N. Parameswari is a MGNREGA worker.

Jeevith upon completing his 12th std in 2018-19 academic year started preparing for NEET by enrolling himself at a coaching institute in Namakkal after he scored 190 marks in the previous year’s exam.

His hardwork paid off as he stood at rank 1823 at the national level, the first time a government school student from Tamil Nadu has made it to the top.

However, as soon as news of his feat made headlines, a video went viral in which a lady named Sabarimaala had claimed that Jeevith was her student and that she had resigned from her government school teacher job just to fulfill the promise she made to Anitha (the girl from Ariyalur who committed suicide for failing in NEET).

https://twitter.com/Kokkipolitics/status/1317390724590129152

Later, she had posted another video in her social media stating that Jeevith was her adopted son and Jeevith’s success in the exam was her ‘own personal victory’. Sabarimaala had claimed in her video that ‘BJP groups’ had threatened Jeevith Kumar by going to his home and went on a rant targeting the AIADMK and the BJP.

Sensing that his success in the exam was being politicized unnecessarily, Jeevith released a video in which he clarified that his success cannot be attributed to just one person but to everyone who had who had helped him in his preparation.

https://www.facebook.com/dilipkannan.veeran/videos/2792744477716671/

In the video, he started by thanking the teachers and the head masters of the government schools he studied in. “All the teachers motivated me, helped me and kept supporting throughout my preparation.” Jeevith said. He especially thanked headmaster Mohan and Arul Murugan, part-time teacher at the Siluvaarpatti Higher Secondary School for their continued guidance.

“After completing 12th standard I started preparing for NEET. I had completed 12th in the old syllabus. Since it wasn’t in NEET syllabus I was not able to score marks that year and couldn’t get a seat in government college. But now, it has changed. Now Tamil Nadu syllabus is in line with NEET syllabus. Government school students can easily clear the exam if they thoroughly study this syllabus.” Jeevith said.

He mentioned that he had planned to join a coaching centre for NEET and that his parents were planning to put in their savings for it. He said that his headmaster, teachers and Arulmurugan had extended to offer help financially and went on to thank them for it.

He mentioned that he met Sabarimaalaa through his teacher Arulmurugan. She had come to his school for an awareness programme on sexual harassment against women. Jeevith said that Sabarimaalaa had one day come to his school and shot a video at the entrance asking him if he would clear NEET and that she would support him. That video was shared by Sabarimaalaa on her Facebook which was seen by a man named Godwin who had offered to help through Sabarimaalaa. Jeevith in his video thanks both Sabarimaalaa and Godwin for their help.

“I can’t attribute my success to just one person. All people – people who I have met, people who I have not even seen, have all extended their help for me and I am thankful for them.” Jeevith said.

“I just saw the video shared by Sabarimaalaa madam in which she says that few party people came and threatened me. I did not even know about this video and came to know about it only through social media. Nothing of that sort happened. Nobody threatened me. Many people came and appreciated me. I felt good and happy.” Jeevith said.

“Madam [Sabarimaalaa] had repeatedly kept claiming in her video that I was her adopted son. One thing needs to understood here. I am first son to my parents. All teachers who had taught me till 12th have stood by me. My parents have not given me to anybody for adoption. I am a son to my parents. All teachers were my ‘Arivu Thaai’ (knowledge mothers). I request Sabarimaalaa madam to not spread any kind of misleading information about me.” Jeevith stated in his video.

Following this video, netizens lashed out Sabarimaalaa for milking a poor boy’s achievements to her own personal and political agenda. It was also found that Sabarimaalaa is in fact a person who is a DMK sympathizer.
