AP police allegedly fails to book Pastor who raped a Dalit child under SC/ST Act, complaint filed with NCSC

A 46-year-old Church pastor Alavala Sudhakar was arrested last week over allegations of sexual assault on a minor girl in the Kakinada rural zone of East Godavari district.

As per reports, the pastor allegedly assaulted the minor girl on June 22 and as soon the victim’s mother came to know, she filed a police complaint in the Sarpavaram police station.

The pastor was attending a function on that day where he laid his eyes on the 10-year-old girl who he later convinced to go with him to a field away from the church and then proceeded to sexually assault the minor.

When the terrified 10-year-old girl started screaming for help, Pastor Sudhakar stuffed a fifty rupee note in her hand as a bribe asking her to not tell anyone about the incident.

The pastor was arrested and an FIR has been registered based on the complaint of the mother. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other sections of the Indian Penal Code.

However, it has been found that the police has intentionally not slapped the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act despite the victim being from the Dalit community.

It is also being alleged that though the police, while briefing the media gave out the full name of the accused as Kalavala Gangadhar alias Sudhakar, they did not mention any details like original name, father name, caste, age, occupation about him in their FIR except his name.

The SC ST Rights Forum, a non-profit legal activism organization working for Dalit rights have alleged that the concerned police official who is investigating this case is having mala fide intention to favour the accused.

The organization has now written to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes to intervene in the matter.

#JusticeForKeralaGirls: Most literate state becomes unsafe for women

Kerala which is hailed as a ‘model state’ and the ‘most literate state’ is not just emerging as a hot bed of Islamic jihad but also becoming unsafe for women to live.

According to reports, crimes against women in the Communist ruled state has soared high. According the Kerala Police’s official website, 886 incidents of rape and 1437 incidents of molestations have been registered till May for this year.

Recently, a worker of the Communist party repeatedly sexually abused a six year old girl for three years before raping and killing her last week. The body of the minor girl was found hanging in a room at her parents’ quarters.

Peerumade MLA Vazhoor Soman requested the cops to not conduct an autopsy of the girl’s body. The cops, however, went ahead and conducted the post-mortem. The report revealed that she was sexually abused and murdered.

The latest rape has sent shock waves across the state despite the media maintaining stoic silence over the matter.

In light of this, social media saw the hashtag #JusticeForKeralaGirls trend nationwide with opposition political parties especially the BJP blaming the ruling Communist government of Pinarayi Vijayan for the pathetic state of affairs.

China’s BRI poses economic risks for nations, G7’s B3W should spell out plans

China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) poses immense economic risks for nations globally, while G7’s Build Back Better World (B3W) needs more clarity to take on the challenge against Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) hegemonic plans, two key strategic affairs experts have said.

India is the only nation, due to its proximity to China, with a clear vision on how BRI is a dangerous proposition, and New Delhi has to evolve its own plans for counter the BRI project or to take a lead role in implementing G7’s B3W initiative, Cleo Paskal and Seshadri Chari have suggested.

The two strategic affairs experts were discussing “G7’s B3W versus CCP’s BRI: Development Funding or Debt Diplomacy” at a webinar hosted by Law and Society Alliance, a Delhi-headquartered think-tank, and DefenceCapital, a strategic affairs publication.

Montreal-based Cleo Paskal is an Associate Fellow with London-headquartered Chatham House and a Senior Fellow for the Indo-Pacific in the Center on Military and Political Power at the Washington DC-headquartered Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

Manipal-based Seshadri Chari is the Secretary General of Mumbai-headquartered Forum for Integrated National Security, and a former Member of the Governing Council of Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and Director (International Affairs) at the Institute for National Security Studies.

The G7 nations, who met last month, had announced the B3W Initiative for development funding in democracies as a counter to BRI, a global infrastructure strategy of the CCP.

“There are potential risks in terms of local economy and corruption under the BRI to nations that are part of the Chinese initiative. BRI does not care about labour or environment or transparency standards. BRI does not value law or society that Law and Society Alliance, the event’s host, care for,” Paskal said at the event.

Citing the example of Solomon Islands, Paskal said its premier Daniel Suidani had opposed the CCP’s plans for the Pacific Ocean Island nation, refusing bribe offers from China. “In May 2021, Suidani was diagnosed with a tumor that required a costly surgery. He had no money for his treatment and China used its influence to deny him treatment in other nations in the Pacific Ocean region. Ultimately, his treatment was arranged in Taiwan with help from Indian academician Prof. M. D. Nalapat,” she said.

CCP, Paskal said, infects the economic, political and judicial structures of nations that join the BRI and subsequently takes over the capital investments and economic independence of the nations that have joined BRI.

On the other hand, G7’s B3W initiative, she said, includes geopolitical content, but the business lobbyists involved in the initiative would perforce recast it to geo-economics.

Seshadri Chari, in his remarks, said BRI and B3W were incomparable, but the strategic affairs community have unwittingly started comparing the two.

He explained it by noting that G7 nations cumulatively are a $34-trillion GDP economy with an average per capita GDP of $43000, whereas China is a $15-trillion GDP economy with an average per capita GDP of $11000. G7 nations have a population of 775 million, and China has a population of 1.45 billion, he said.

Seshadri Chari also pointed out that in 1946, Mao Zedong had observed that a time will come when both the United States and the then USSR would lose their dominant status as a global power and that there would be an Intermediate Zone when Communist China would rise to become a global power.

He said G7 nations would be spending up to $40 trillion under the B3W Initiative to operate in democratic nations only in the regions from Carribeans to Indo-Pacific, yet it has to start fresh. China, on the other hand, has already committed to $4.2 trillion covering 1,600 projects, be it in a Capitalist or a Socialist or a Communist nation across the globe in nearly 160 countries.

“The funds for B3W would be sourced from private enterprises, as there are massive profits in infrastructure projects. On the other hand, funds for BRI are sourced from China’s own sources, Asian Development Bank, World Bank and International agencies.”

On China’s objectives, Seshadri Chari noted that BRI is not an economic, global, development, multilateral project, but a unilateral project proposed and signed by China. “The strategic outlook of BRI is to take over as many projects as possible, so that China becomes the leader of the new world order. The objectives of G7 nations for its B3W initiative are not yet spelled out.”

While B3W would focus on working with democratic nations with several conditions including against child labor, transparency, democracy, and adhering to the rules of the United Nations, BRI does not have such condition. “China takes its BRI to all nations, be it a dictatorship or military rule or socialist or capitalist.”

The two experts shared the view that India was the only nation to know about the dangers posed by China to global peace and world order. “India should step up and take over the development projects.” Among the suggestions were for India to strengthen the BIMSTEC and ASEAN institutions, and lead the Indo-Pacific Development Initiative.

Police in West Bengal have arrested three suspected terrorists of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Kolkata’s Haridevpur area from a rented flat in the western suburbs of the city on Sunday (July) 11) evening.

The three jihadists have been identified as Mikhail Khan, Rabiul Islam and Naziur Rahman, all hailing from Gopalgunj, which also happens to be the home district of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Police said the three were staying in Kolkata under the pretext of medical treatment of a relative. “But they were actually raising funds and trying to recruit local Muslims for jihadi actions,” said an officer of Kolkata Police special task force.

Bangladesh intelligence has confirmed the identity and affiliations of the three arrested.

Bangladesh has its own share of Islamist terrorists escaping into India, especially finding sanctuary in West Bengal only to return to the country to launch attacks.

In the last few years, Indian and Bangladesh have developed close intelligence cooperation as PM Hasina is determined not to allow its soil used for terror strikes against India.

On Sunday, (July 11), the chairman and managing director of Kitex Garments, the world’s second-largest manufacturer of kids apparel, Sabu M Jacob gave a profound statement on the state of affair when it comes to doing business in the Communist state of Kerala.

Jacob has said that “he wouldn’t invest a single rupee in Kerala anymore“.

When Jacob was asked about the allegation made by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that the Kitex issue is being raised against his state with the intent to shame it,  Sabu Jacob said, that he would not respond to the Chief Minister’s statement, reports The New Indian Express.

“I will not respond to the chief minister’s statement. My conscience does not allow me to invest even a rupee anymore in the State,” Sabu told reporters at the Kochi airport on his return from Telangana.

“We were given a grand welcome in Telangana. The company will finalise the investment process in the next two weeks,” he said.

“Even if we set up units in Telangana or any other state, I will give a job to any Keralite who approaches me there,” he added.

KITEX  is Kerala’s largest private employer, with a long-running feud with the State’s communist government, has decided to enter Telangana with a Rs 1,000 crore investment.

KITEX Managing Director Sabu Jacob and a five-member team, on Friday (9 July), was flown on a special flight to visit Hyderabad by the Telangana government and just a day later it was announced that the company plan invest Rs 1,000 crore to set up its factories at the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in the Warangal district.

The government treats us like bourgeoises, exploitative capitalists and land encroachers. Enough is enough,” Kitex chairman Sabu M Jacob said.

“If the situation continues like this, the State will turn into a graveyard of industries. While neighbouring states roll out red carpets for industries, we are hounding them out. “Whoever invests in Kerala will lose peace of mind and will be driven to suicide,” Sabu Jacob added.

India hands over relic of St Queen Ketevan to Georgia who refused to convert to Islam

In the last few weeks India has gone on a diplomatic offensive and in a great gesture the Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar handed over to the Georgian government a relic belonging to St Queen Ketevan, a royal from the 17th-century, taking bilateral ties to a “new level”.

Jaishankar handed over this important national relic of Georgia to his counterpart David Zalkaliani who is also the Vice-Prime Minister of the country when he was on a two-day visit to this former state in the Soviet Union.

The relic was handed over to His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia or the spiritual head of the Georgian Orthodox Church, and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

The relic belonging to St Queen Ketevan was excavated in Goa in 2016, and the ruling Georgian Dream Democratic Party called this as an “unprecedented” gesture and one which will be “remembered and appreciated”.

St Queen Ketevan has deep reverence among Georgians as a martyr of the faith of Christianity who refused to convert to Islam even though this led to her death.

St Queen Ketevan, also known as Ketevan the Martyr, was the queen of Kakheti, a kingdom in eastern Georgia in the 17th century, and was married to Prince David of Kakheti, who later became the king in 1601. However, he died just a year later in 1602 and after the death of her husband, she devoted herself to religious and charitable activities as her father in law Alexander II became king

Alexander II was killed during the war with the Safavid Dynasty and his other son Constantine I, converted to Islam at the Safavid court of Shah Abbas but he eventually died in a battle led by Queen Ketevan.

However, in 1613, Shah Abbas I conquered Kakheti and took Queen Ketevan hostage in Shiraz. He made several attempts to convert her to Islam and join his harem which she refused and the queen was later strangled to death on 22 September 1624.

But fate would have it otherwise as two of her Augustinian friars, who had gone to Shiraz in 1623, managed to her mortal remains and kept them with themselves till 1627 and later brought to the St Augustinian convent in Goa.

In 2016, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) managed to locate the queen’s remains that were found at the Old Goa building.

“We have been able to establish that the remains found in St Augustine Complex in Goa were that of Queen Ketevan of Kakheti in Georgia,” N. Taher, Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Hyderabad Circle, had said while announcing the discovery.

“Considering the importance of Queen Ketavan for the Georgian people, Soviet Union-Russian-Georgian officials requested the Government of India to help in tracing the relics of Queen (Saint) Ketevan in Goa,” the paper said.

After the relic was discovered, the Georgian government has been urging India to hand them over and in 017, at Georgia’s request, India sent the relics to the country for an exhibition for six months which was accepted by His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II along with many Georgians on 23 September 2017.

However, the Indian government decided to accept the demand for the permanent transfer of the relics due to its historical, religious, and spiritual sentiments that are attached to St Queen Ketevan by the Georgian people, and also this gesture will “strengthen” the bonds of friendship and understanding between India and Georgia.

Rajini dissolves political precursor outfit and reorganizes it into fan club, ends statement with ‘Jai Hind’

After much hemming and hawing, Superstar Rajinikanth had announced his exit from politics on December 29, 2020 citing health reasons and the COVID-19 pandemic.

But speculations and expectations among his fans about Rajinikanth giving a re-entry to politics were still prevailing even after the Assembly Elections which has now been put to rest after his meeting with Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) office bearers today.

In a press release issued by the actor, he said that there has been no discussion with his office bearers after he had announced his decision to quit politics. He said that he could not begin his political journey due to circumstances and added that he has no plans of entering politics in the future.

Adding further he said that he is dissolving RMM and reorganizing it into Rajinikanth Rasigar Narpani Mandram, the earlier name of his fan clubs.

“Vaazhga Tamil Makkal (Long live Tamil people), Valarga Tamil Nadu (Let Tamil Nadu grow), Jai Hind”, he concluded.

The ‘Jai Hind’ is seen as a subtle dig at the DMK at a time when the party and its allies have been disrespecting the patriotic slogan.

In an interview with the Youtube channel Arakalagam, Dravidian fanatic leader Pasumpon, the founder and president of the Anna Dravida Makkal Munnetra Kazhagham, stated that he will unleash violence on the Dinamalar office for publishing an article speculating on the central government’s intention to form Kongu state.

He added that allowing Dinamalar to run in Tamil Nadu was a mistake and that Dinamalar does not have freedom of expression in this matter. He criticized Dinamalar for not using Annadurai and EV Ramasamy’s titles, Anna and Periyar respectively, in their newspapers.

He further said that they will burn the Dinamalar newspaper across Tamil Nadu and refuse to allow them to print it, and that if the newspaper continues to publish news like this, violence will be unleashed inside the Dinamalar office.

he said,” If this constitution allows people to ask for a separate Kongu Nadu state, then I will ask for a separate Tamil country. Tamil Nadu has the right to separate from Indian Union and I will demand a separate Tamil Nadu”

He further claimed that only the BJP and Brahmins demanded a separate Kongu Nadu state, and that anyone who demanded a new state should be whacked on their throat.

He further stated that ‘Kongu’ is a vulgar term that denotes a woman’s breast and he questioned Dinamalar whether they would seek another state named after any other private parts.
