Indian Army’s brigade conducts largest airborne assault exercises in eastern Ladakh

The Indian Army on Monday (November 1) conducted one of its largest airborne assault exercises when troops of the Army’s Shatrujeet brigade were inserted to a drop zone at an altitude of more than 14,000 feet.

The Indian Army’s Shatrujeet brigade is conducting an airborne exercise along the northern borders in eastern Ladakh to check its rapid response capabilities amid Indian and Chinese militaries who are in a border standoff in eastern Ladakh since May 2020.

These exercises are part of the Army to pre-acclimatise the troops along with specialist vehicles and missile detachments were transported through C-130 and AN-32 aircraft from five different airbases to enhance inter-theatre move, precision stand-off drops, rapid grouping, and the capture of designated objectives with speed and surprise, they said.

This paradrop is one of a kind in the world and the Indian Army is the most experienced military to conduct this dangerous exercise particularly when temperatures are minus 20 degrees Celsius and rarefied atmosphere in the super high altitude terrain.

The exercise also involved combat-free fall jumps and integrated battle drills by airborne forces, mechanized columns, and attack helicopters, to turn this into a cohesive rapid response capability and seamless integration.

Head of Islamic center in Kerala accused of sexually exploiting women

Another Illegal Bangladeshi Infiltrator Arrested From Kolkata Hotel

Kerala which is has been in the news for all the wrong reasons has again proved that women are not safe in the Communist-ruled state after it emerged that a young woman who had converted to Islam at the Kozhikode Mukhadar Tarbiathul Islamic Center made shocking revelations wherein she accused the head of the center of torture and sexually exploiting women and girls under the pretext of ‘teaching’ them Islam.

In an explicit interview given to Janam TV, the woman said the chief of the Islamic seminary sexually abused a large number of girls and called the Islamic Center a prison and said women and girls were forbidden from leaving the religious seminary.

In her interview, the woman said that the head of the Centre who is a Muslim cleric, raped an 18-19-year-old girl one day, and later he told her that by taking a bath all her sins would be forgiven even though he is the one who allegedly raped her.

When asked how she got to know about the incident, the woman told Janam TV that it was the victim herself who shared her story with her, and on the same day, the victim was taken away by her family.

The interview may not get national attention but it is creating a tsunami in Kerala after she said how Muslim clerics targeted unsuspecting and vulnerable women and girls to join the religious center, where they commit unspeakable atrocities against them.

She said women and impressionable young girls were conned into joining the religious seminary under the pretext of offering them a house to live in and money for their expenses.

When young women would join the seminary, they were asked to stay at the center for 40 days, and during this period the chief of the seminary sought a private audience where he allegedly tortured the girls and sexually exploited them.

In the interview, the new convert to Islam said that the 19-year-old girl who was subjected to torture and sexual assault happened on June 8 but no official complaint was lodged with the police as the girl was reportedly threatened by the powerful Islamic cleric against reporting the incident with the police.

Also, in Islam, when a woman is raped it must be witnessed by four men of repute in order to punish the rapist which is impossible.

Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh arrested for money laundering

Anil Deshmukh

In a major embarrassment for the collation government in Maharashtra, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) late Monday (1 November) night arrested former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.

Earlier Deshmukh was questioned for over 12 hours in connection with the money laundering case and the former Maharashtra minister who belongs to the Sharad Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party appeared before the ED to record his statement around noon.

Anil Deshmukh who is a very powerful politician in the state had filed a plea cancelling the agency’s summons in the laundering case filed against him, which was rejected by the Bombay High Court because Deshmukh had been evading being questioned by the ED for months and had exhausted his legal remedies, reports Times of India.

The former state home minister had been on the run as the ED raided several places in the last few months to trace Deshmukh’s whereabouts, but could not find the former state minister.

However, when Deshmukh arrived at the ED office at Ballard Estate in Mumbai on Monday, the investigating officer started questioning him and the agency has also flown an additional director from Delhi in the evening to supervise the process.

Earlier, the ED had arrested Deshmukh’s private secretary Sanjeev Palande and personal assistant Kundan Shinde for allegedly helping Deshmukh and his son Hrishikesh with money laundering.

According to the ED, Deshmukh, through his aide, Shinde, had collected Rs 4.7 crore from (now-dismissed) assistant police inspector Sachin Waze in cash who then headed the CIU branch of Mumbai police and had collected the money from orchestra bar owners of Mumbai illegally for Deshmukh.

Also, former Mumbai Police Commishanar Param Bir Singh in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had accused Deshmukh of interference and using the police to extort up to ₹ 100 crore every month.

Actor Suriya’s hypocrisy: Releases ‘Jai Bhim’ in Hindi, features scene where Prakash Raj slaps a north-Indian for speaking Hindi

In yet another case of reeking hypocrisy by alleged ‘actor’ Suriya, his latest film ‘Jai Bhim’ features a controversial scene in which a north-Indian man gets slapped for speaking Hindi.

Jai Bhim, directed by T.J. Gnanavel is based on a real life incident that happened in the 1990s where men from the Irular tribe were taken by the police and implicated in false cases. Suriya plays the role of a lawyer named ‘Chandru’ who takes up the case to get justice for the victims.

The film is dashed with the trademark elements of ‘porali’ films with images of Karl Marx, Dr. Ambedkar and ‘Periyar’ E.V. Ramasamy Naicker.

The film also has made efforts to coax the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu by featuring a scene that instigates violence against speakers of the Hindi language.

In a blatantly bigoted scene, Prakash Raj who plays the role of a police officer slaps a north-Indian (who has been stereotyped as a ‘Marwari’ Saet) for speaking in Hindi and asks him to speak in Tamil.

It is worth mentioning that Suriya who is also the producer of the movie has released Jai Bhim in Hindi too in order attract Hindi audience.

Many on social media not just pointed out the problematic scene but also lashed out as Suriya for being a hypocrite.

https://twitter.com/ShankarPraful/status/1455454857742016512

In Hindi, the same scene shows Prakash Raj uttering the dialogue “Speak the truth”. Only in Telugu and Tamil, the makers of the film seem to have deliberately kept the dialogue to exploit linguistic faultlines.

Many point out that this has deliberately been done to appease the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, the party which is known for inciting hatred in the name of a non-existent ‘Hindi imposition’.

This is not the first time alleged actor Suriya who has of late been resorting to virtue signalling is being called out for his hypocrisy.

In “Soorarai Pottru”, a mischievous distortion of the story of Captain G.R. Gopinath, Suriya who is shown as an ‘anti-caste’ and a ‘socialist’ capitalist (God knows what that is!) utters the dialogue “I want to break the cost barrier and the damn caste barrier too!”.

However actor Suriya who is a director of two companies – one ‘2D Entertainment Private Limited’ and the other ‘Rakkia Cinemas Private Limited has recorded his name as “Rakkia Gounder Sivakumar Suriya”.

He was also called out for opposing NEET while having a ‘selection criteria’ for awarding scholarships to ‘deserved students’.

Former intel officers and allies of the US in Afghanistan join ISIS-K

After Colin Kahl, the undersecretary of defense for policy told the Senate Armed Services Committee that the United States could face a possible terror attack carried out by Al Qaeda or  ISIS-K, ISKP or IS-Khorasan in the next six to eighteen months, it has been revealed that a large number of abandoned allies of the US in Afghanistan have joined ISIS, reports The Wall Street Journal (WSJ)

This is all due to the US forces withdrawal from Afghanistan and in that process, a large number of their ‘abandoned’ spies and allies in order to survive have joined hands with the radical jihadist Islamist outfits like ISIS

But the irony is that the Taliban which is in itself is a puritanical Islamist regime, sees ISIS as a direct threat to its authority in Afghanistan.

According to the WSJ, the Taliban has claimed that the number of such US allies are now, defecting to ISIS which means they now bring tradecraft, warfare techniques, and intelligence gathering expertise that could seriously undermine the Taliban government which is already vulnerable as the new regime do not have any money to govern.

What is now troubling the US is that former Afghan national army officials and men from the Afghan Republic’s Intelligence and Military have also have joined the ISIS-K in recent weeks after the Taliban revealed that an army officer was killed in the past week while fighting the Taliban.

Ex-head of the National Directorate of Security, Rahmatullah Nabil, said, “In some areas, ISIS has become very attractive. If there were a resistance, they (former Afghan security and defence forces) would have joined the resistance. For the time being, ISIS is the only other armed group.”

After the US forces left Afghanistan, in perhaps the worst form of retreat and abandoning of its allies, thousands of ex-soldiers, former police officials, and Afghan Republic Intelligence officers suddenly were unemployed under constant threat of being killed by the Taliban despite being assured of amnesty

So these intelligence officers and ex-officials who worked in the National Directorate of Security who have no money were provided with large sums of money and assurance of security against the Taliban regime by ISIS.

The Taliban and ISIS are both followers of Islam but the former follow Salafi Islam and the Taliban adhere to the Hanafi school of Sunni Islam or Deobandi movement based in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh.

Though once rivals, as per the WSJ report, US Intelligence did provide information to the Taliban, but they are reluctant to consider ISIS-K as a major threat because it would give the latter credence in a place where any form of weakness is viewed as a sign of defeat.

Senior Taliban leader Mawlawi Zubair remarked, “We are not faced with a threat nor are we worried about them. There is no need, not even a tiny need, for us to seek assistance from anyone against ISIS.” He further added, “In the current situation, we are not dealing with a few difficulties, we are facing many. If we get rid of all our economic and administrative problems, ISIS will disappear in 15 days in all of Afghanistan.”

But what is unimaginable is that after the US left Afghanistan the Biden administration willfully handed out a list of American citizens, Afghan allies, biometric data, and green card holders to the Taliban which is not known for its amnesty. This blunder is now been seen as the reason why many former allies who were trained by the US have now joined ISIS-K because there are many reports of the Taliban executing army officers, police, and intelligence personals as an act of revenge.

With access to the biometric devices, along with weapons, vehicles, and ammunition left behind by the fleeing Americans Taliban started going door-to-door in search of Afghan interpreters and US allies and as a matter of survival many have joined ISIS.

38% Indians vaccinated twice, govt launches door-to-door vaccination drive

fake coronavirus vaccines

As per data released by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, over i06.31 crore Indians have received at least one  Covid vaccine dose and over 38 per cent have received both shots.

“With the administration of 12,77,542 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 106.31 Cr (1,06,31,24,205) as per provisional reports till 7 am today,” the ministry said in a statement.

Mandaviya called this an extraordinary feat and said that India is rapidly progressing on the path to defeating the virus.

”An extraordinary feat of an extraordinary nation! India has administered 1st COVID-19 vaccine dose to 78 per cent of the eligible population and 2nd dose to 38 per cent of the eligible people. Congratulations to all as we rapidly progress on our path to defeat the virus!” Mandaviya tweeted.

However, the government is also very concerned after it discovered a low vaccination rate in some districts across the country and is now working on plans to ramp up the inoculation drive.

The ministry also announced the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ (door-to-door vaccination) programme for the next one month, and the focus will be to increase the percentage of the second dose to beneficiaries.

Jai Bhim, a cry-baby film: Film critic Baradwaj Rangan ruthlessly roasts actor Suriya’s latest film

If actor-turned-virtue signaller Suriya and director and T. J. Gnanvel had seen film critic Baradwaj Rangan’s review of their film ‘Jai Bhim’, they would feel so humiliated for making such a movie and might even go the extent of quitting their career.

Such has been Baradwaj Rangan’s take on the movie who has smashed it to smithereens which might even make people to cancel their subscription of Amazon Prime Video so that they don’t even accidentally watch the movie.

The award-winning film critic called Jai Bhim a cry-baby film which relies on amplifying the viewer’s empathy through hysteria.

“This is a movie that takes this ‘crying-baby’ concept to a new level when a man is arrested… he has just bought toys for his young little child.. and when he is led away by the police, the wheels of the police jeep crushes those toys. Oh my god, the tragedy!”, Baradwaj Rangan narrates.

“Why do you have to amplify everything so much? Why don’t you rely on the emotions inherent in the subject of the story, in the people in the story? Why do you have to add all this extra sauce?”, he goes on.

He said that Jai Bhim is the example of a movie that screams the message in the ears treating the Tamil audience as dumb people.

He also said that the movie shows only two kinds of people – kind and evil – with nobody in the middle.

About Suriya who plays the role of a lawyer named ‘Chandru’, he says “Suriya takes on this case and we know he will because he does this slo-mo jump that lawyers I think typically do at this place and then he has triumphant music following him and at the end, everyone says basically ‘you’re God’.” adding that this one of Suriya’s least involved performances.

Baradwaj also says that the writing is ‘ridiculously bad’ and notes that the movie feels like a mash-up of ‘Visaranai’ and Ka Pe Ranasingam.

He says that while Visaranai showed police brutality realistically, Jai Bhim does it to just amplify the melodrama.

“In Visaranai they tried to show reality, here they’re trying to attract pity”, he says.

About the actors Manikandan and Lijo Jose, Baradwaj says that he wished both of the wonderful actors had not been cast in a movie that is so hysterically directed.

He said that a good story with good intentions at heart need not necessarily translate to a good film.

Australia approves Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN as WHO drags its feet

In a major boost and recognition for the indigenously developed Covid-19 vaccine, Covixin and its maker Bharat Biotech on November 1, the Australian Government’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) under the Department of Health recognised this made-in-India Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin to and gave a traveller’s vaccination status.

This news is also a very important foreign policy victory for the Modi government and could not have come at a better time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the G-20 summit where he met with leaders who nineteen nations plus India that control eighty five per cent of global GDP.

As the World Health Organisation (WHO), keeps dragging its feet, this recognition has been approved for anyone of age 12 and above who have been vaccinated with Covaxin.

In a statement, Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Barry O’Farrell AO, said, “Australian Government recognises Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for the purpose of establishing a traveller’s vaccination status.”

In the statement issued by TGA, the Australian government also recognized BBIBP-CorV (manufactured by Sinopharm, China) for the purpose of travel for anyone between the ages of 18 and 60. The statement read, “Today, the TGA determined that Covaxin (manufactured by Bharat Biotech, India) and BBIBP-CorV (manufactured by Sinopharm, China) vaccines would be ‘recognized’ to establish a traveller’s vaccination status. This recognition is for travellers aged 12 and over who have been vaccinated with Covaxin, and those 18 to 60 who have been vaccinated with BBIBP-CorV.”

It further said that “potentially reduce the likelihood that an incoming traveller would transmit COVID-19 infection to others while in Australia or become acutely unwell due to COVID-19.” It added that the vaccine sponsor or WHO has provided the supporting information.

With the approval of Covaxin and Covishield (manufactured by AstraZeneca, India), citizens of India and other countries who have been vaccinated with these two vaccines can travel to Australia as the summer begins and the Australian government will hope to see a surge in tourism and also this decision will benefit students as well as skilled and unskilled workers.

WHO is still deliberating to give approval for Covaxin and has set November 3 as the date of the next meeting to decide.

Terror on Halloween: Man dressed as “Joker” goes on a stabbing spree in Tokyo subway

Life imitated art in the Japanese capital of Tokyo when a man dressed in Batman’s Joker costume went on a stabbing spree with at least 17 people reportedly injured and one in a serious condition.

As per the latest reports, a 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and according to Japanese media, the attack took place on Sunday, when the Japanese capital was full of Halloween revellers, many of whom were in costume.

The attacker was wearing a green shirt and indigo suit just as the joker when he viciously attacked people with a knife and sprayed hydrochloric acid on passengers.

A video clip published by NHK showed passengers running for their lives as the train was filled in smoke with flames also visible. Photos taken from cell phone cameras that were posted on Twitter showed people climbing through windows to escape the Keio line train at a station.

The line operator said services had been partially suspended after “an incident involving injuries” took place just before 8pm near Kokuryō in the city’s western suburbs.

“At first I thought it was something like a Halloween event. But I rushed away as a man carrying a long knife came in. I was very fortunate not to be injured,” a man who was on the train told NHK.

“He held a knife and started spreading liquid,” she said. “He was committing this act without showing any emotion, just mechanically. I think that brought fear to everyone.”
