Instances When Self-Proclaimed ‘Fact-Checkers’ Of Alt News Peddled Fake News

The self-proclaimed “fact-checking” online news site, Alt News, drew attention lately for news that took Indians by surprise. Its co-founders Prateek Sinha and Mohammed Zubair were supposedly being proposed to an unconfirmed list of 2022 Nobel Peace prize nominees.

But Alt News and its co-founders are known for peddling notorious propaganda and fake news.

Here are a few examples when Alt-News and its co-founders peddled inaccurate, fake, and deliberately provocative content over the years.

Number 1

In light of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, BJP Tamil Nadu IT & Social Media Wing President had wrote in Tamil “Pity those 10 people who are going on the yatra along with Pappu (referring to Rahul Gandhi) who is playing with children applying henna.

However, Zubair added his own meaning to the tweet peddling that the BJP Tamil Nadu SM Wing Head was sharing an old image of Rahul Gandhi with a claim that he was flirting with young children.

Number 2

In June 2021,  Zubair had peddled fake news that an elderly Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh was attacked and his beard forcibly cut for not chanting ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’. However, this was found to be fake news as the Ghaziabad Police clarified that there was no communal angle to the incident. He put out a clarification later.

Number 3

In February 2021, Zubair published a tweet claiming that a Hindu priest had collected ₹20 lakhs in the name of donations for Gau Sewa and ran away with the money. The image that he posted with the tweet was an old one. The idea behind posting the image, was to mislead people by proving its association with the ongoing nationwide fundraiser campaign for the construction of Bhavya Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

 

Number 4

In December 2020, he peddled fake news that a woman detained under the new anti-conversion law in Uttar Pradesh suffered miscarriage. The Moradabad district administration had called reports of miscarriage as fake news. A report by The Hindu quoting district probation officer Rajesh Chandra Gupta noted that the woman was in full normal health and that her pregnancy was intact.

After getting called out for the fake news peddled, Mohammad Zubair put out a tweet clarifying it as an ‘update’.

Number 5

In November 2020, Zubair had shared a clip of a person counting the flaws of the Modi government who claimed himself to be a fan of PM Modi. However, upon investigating, it was found that the man was a candidate for the Communist Party of India.

Number 6

When foundations of the Ram Janmabhoomi were laid in August 2020, Alt News had published an article, in which it had tried to debunk an image of Lord Ram being displayed on Times Square billboards as false.

AltNews became a laughing stock when images of Lord Ram and the Ram Mandir beamed on the billboards of Times Square.

Number 7

In October 2020, Zubair published a tweet suggesting that a group of people were planning to attack one of Tanishq’s showrooms while chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. It was clearly aimed at misleading people around an ongoing controversy because of the Tanishq ad. Upon investigation, it was found that there were no threats of attacking the showroom, and the protest was peaceful.

Number 8

In February 2020, when Islamists pelted stones at the Police in the Jamia Islamia library, AltNews claimed the students did not have stones, but only wallets in their hands. Zubair posted his claim on social media, but when the reality was exposed, he stopped replying to people.

Number 9

In April 2020, during the lockdown, he shared a photograph of two Jain monks with people around them with folded hands. He tried to imply that they were violating the lockdown. However, in reality, the two monks were distributing food packets to people and feeding animals. Zubair had edited the photo from the event, where food packets were visible.

Number 10

In June 2020, AltNews and other media houses tried to project that a man was gunned down in Amroha while trying to enter a temple on account of his caste. However, Amroha Police later clarified that there was no reference to the caste of the youth in the matter. There was an ongoing enmity over money between the two groups that led to a clash and the unfortunate death of the youth.

Number 11

Zubair once tweeted that while Mexico runs educational channels on television, Doordarshan was busy telecasting PM Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” programs. Interestingly, it looked like Zubair never checked Doordarshan channels before posting the tweet. Doordarshan had noted that many channels and educational programs were being aired during Covid for students. He deleted the tweet after getting exposed.

Number 12

In April 2020, he shared a report from Solapur suggesting that a fire had broken out in the city. The video from February was shared in April and the tweet he had retweeted was already two months old.

Number 13

In August 2020, He had claimed that the comments opportunity on PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program, was switched off, due to fear of protests by students around the NEET-JEE exams . However, in reality, the comments on all the videos on PMO India’s channel, had been off for years. The Comments section was on videos on the YouTube channel of Narendra Modi and BJP that had the same video.

Number 14

In August 2020, during Covid, when reports of Mahant Gopaldas being Covid-positive were shared , Zubair posted an edited photograph suggesting RSS Chief, Mohan Bhagwat was sitting next to him. His claims were later debunked.

Number 15

In August 2020, when Bhoomi Pujan for Bhavya Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was announced, , it was reported that a digital billboard in New York city’s Times Square in the USA, would play an ad for Ram Mandir. Zubair had claimed that the event was cancelled, but the video was later played in Times Square.

Number 16

On his troll page ‘Unofficial Subramanian Swamy’, he had claimed that BJP was stealing EVMs from strong rooms. “FactHunt” fact-checked the claims, after which he put the blame on one of the admins of the page.

Number 17

During farmers’ protests in early 2021, he shared a photograph and claimed that the farmers were being treated like terrorists by the police. Later it was found that the photograph was from 2013 when UPA was in power at the centre. The photograph was first published by Kavita Krishnan.

Number 18

In April 2019, after an Islamic terror attack at a Sri Lankan church, a minister wrote a letter stating intelligence officers were already aware of the possible attack. When Twitter users and prominent personalities like Abhijit Majumdar and Anand Ranganathan shared the letter, Zubair called it fake in a bid to protect the Muslim terrorists. Interestingly, the letter was published by the Sri Lankan minister himself on Twitter.

Number 19

In May 2018, OpIndia had published reports regarding the innocence of Vishal Jangotra in the Kathua case, which was criticized by Zubair. Later the court found that he was innocent.

Number 20

In January 2022, he mixed up districts with assembly constituencies to defend the Samajwadi Party, which had used old Islamic names of the constituencies in candidate lists. Mohammed Zubair posted two candidate lists published by SP and BJP for UP Assembly elections and alleged that both parties used old names for districts renamed by the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP govt. However, in reality, he was “confused” between the constituency names and district names.

Number 21

Mohammed Zubair, was recently in soup when his old tweets mocking Hindu gods surfaced in light of the Nupur Sharma episode. It was Zubair who had shared an edited clip of former BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s remarks, which eventually led to targeted reverberation of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ solgans in different parts of the country with mobs baying for Nupur Sharma’s blood. It also led to the killing of several innocent Hindus who had supported Nupur Sharma.

Number 22

Zubair’s partner Pratik Sinha had once used a picture of 2014 to show a woman suffering due to demonatisation in 2016.

Number 23

Another time in 2016, Pratik Sinha tweeted a picture of 2004 to portray a negative image of the condition of cow in Gujarat and spread canards about Gau Rakshaks.

Number 25

He had also pushed the oft-repeated lie peddled by opposition parties about PM Modi promising 15 lakhs in bank accounts of people.

This lie has been busted a number of times as PM Modi during a campaign had only made a comparison to the amount of black money stashed abroad.

Number 26

In an attempt to target PM Modi and his clean Ganga initiative, Pratik Sinha had misled people by sharing the headline of a article about which said “Public money wasted, not a drop of Ganga cleaned: NGT” when in fact the article had praised the Centre’s initiatve.

Number 27

Once, he had used a media clip claiming that the UP police stopped a marriage of couples from different faith. However, the action was taken by the UP police based on a missing complaint received from the girl’s family.

Number 28

On 10 October 2022, leftist-Islamist propaganda outlet The Wire had published a story in which it alleged that BJP IT Cell Head Amit Malviya can get any social media post on Facebook or Instagram taken down because Meta had given him special privileges.

The propaganda outlet went ahead publishing one more story on 11 October 2022 in an attempt to establish that the documents they have were not fabricated.

Both these stories were categorically refuted by Meta’s head of communications Andy Stone and stated that the stories was based on fabricated documents.

But Alt News co-founder Zubair amplified The Wire’s story by retweeting the articles only to quitely un-retweet them later.

It is this fakenews-peddling propagandist duo that the interational publication TIME had exalted as people in the ‘Nobel Peace Prize favourites’ which too turned out to be a hoax.

The truth is that Zubair and Sinha were never nominated and it was just a speculative list peddled by TIME.

However, the hoax too was retweeted by the alleged ‘fact-checker’.

So, that’s another one added to the list of fake news peddled by Alt News.

Here’s Why The DMK Doesn’t Wish For Deepavali: Old Video Of DMK MP A. Raja Derogating Hindu Festival Resurfaces

With Deepavali fast approaching (Oct 24, 2022 ), DMK leader A.Raja’s 2019 speech about the Hindu festival is making the rounds again.

In the attached video that went viral (a re-posted portion from the 2019 original), DMK leader A. Raja infamous for anti-Hindu commentary, makes derogatory remarks about the mythological story of Bhooma Devi (Earth Goddess) and Varaha avatar of Lord Vishnu while hailing Christianity as a religion that encourages scientific temper.

“In 1600, Bruno (Giordano Bruno – Italian philosopher and cosmological theorist) told that the Earth is spherical. When Bruno told this, Christianity religion did not accept it. Because, in Christianity the earth is not spherical but flat according to the Bible. That time, Christianity religion burnt Bruno alive. Read about it. Type Bruno on the internet and it will come. Bruno was burnt alive because he had said something that was contrary to what Christianity said which is that the earth is flat.”, he says in the video.

“But Christians have some sense of justice. The Christians who in February 14, 1600 burnt alive Bruno who had mentioned that the earth was spherical, 400 years later in 2000 on the same date of February 14, a statue was installed in the same place where Bruno was burnt, and Pope John Paul II told the world that Christianity apologizes for the mistake.” Raja says in the video.

He hails Chrisitianity saying that the religion which was against science is making an attempt to reform itself and goes on to say “Your religion (Hindus) says that Padmasuran rolled earth like a carpet and hid it in the ocean. Where is the ocean? Where is the ocean in the world? What are you guys saying? Padmasuran rolled earth like a carpet and hid it in the ocean. Then Devas went and petitioned [to Vishnu] that Bhuma Devi was missing. Immediately, Vishnu or Krishna incarnates as a pig and rescues Bhooma Devi from the ocean. At that time, Bhooma Devi and the pig fall in love. Lust comes. Both of them give birth to a child. That child is Naragasuran. That Naragusuran was against Devas. Whenever someone goes against Brahmins, they want to kill them. Hence, Naragasuran was killed. This is the story.”

“Now you tell me, there is a reason to wish Christians and Muslims on their festivals. What will you wish for Deepavali? Can the earth be rolled like a carpet? Can someone be born as a pig? Can a pig and Bhuma devi have sex and give birth to an Asura? Since these are all against science and doesn’t align to rational thoughts, I don’t wish for Hindu festivals. That’s it.”, he said.

This old video of the DMK leader derogating Hinduism has once again triggered a social media debate.

Responding to this viral speech of Raja, political commentator BR Sreenivasan had asked if A. Raja or the DMK believes in Jesus Christ’s “virgin birth”, his “resurrection” and the return of Mahabali king in Kerala.

While a few Dravidian Stockists hailed Raja for explaining the rationale behind DMK not wishing for Deebavali, many others have lashed out at the DMK leader for exposing his hatred for Hindus.

PTR Speaks Rudely To AIADMK Leaders, Apologizes Later, Puts Self-Aggrandizing Tweets After That

After a video of Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan speaking rudely to AIADMK MLA Sellur Raja and later apologizing went viral, the former has put out a tweet comparing himself to Marxist revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevera.

On Friday (October 14), a review meeting was conducted at the Madurai District Collector’s office to discuss the 10 demands made by the MLAs as part of the “Chief Minister in Your Constituency” program.

Madurai District Collector Aneesh Shekhar presided over the meeting. The meeting was attended by Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan, the Minister of Commercial Tax and Registration Department Murthy, the MLAs Sellur K. Raju, VV Rajan Chellappa, RB Udayakumar, Periya Pullan, Thalapathy Venkatesan, Bhoominathan, and Ayyappan, the Corporation Commissioner Simranjeet Singh, and all departmental staff members.

The review meeting was conducted to look into the possibility of implementing demands made by the MLAs.

Former AIADMK Minister Sellur K Raju who is now an MLA of Madurai West constituency questioned the usefulness of holding project review meetings under the “Chief Minister In Your Constituency” scheme and soliciting MLAs’ feedback without allocating any funds.

After each MLA spoke about issues in their constituency, Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan took the floor. PTR was merely reading statistics that came across as the justifications for not meeting the MLAs’ requests. Not satisfied with Finance Minister’s response, ADMK MLA Sellur said, “We are communicating the issues of the people. Don’t give explanations instead of solutions,” and staged a walk out along with other ADMK MLAs.

After being stunned, Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiyagarajan responded furiously and said to MLA Sellur Raju, “I was listening to you when you spoke. so you have to sit when I speak.” The video of the meeting shows that former minister Sellur Raju was visibly offended by the DMK Minister PTR Palanivel Thiyagarajan’s rude behavior. Later, MLA Sellur Raju was pacified by the Minister of Commercial Tax, Murthy.

MLA Sellur Raju said, “You should speak like a people’s representatives and not like government officers.”

AIADMK MLA RB Udhaya Kumar, who interrupted, remarked to Minister Murthy, “We came here because of your invitation. What new scheme are you going to implement now that you have terminated the already existing scheme which was giving assistance to ₹2 lakh senior citizens in Madurai?”

Realizing that the situation was getting out of control, PTR Palanivel Thiyagarajan said, “If it upsets you, I won’t say anything. I’m not accusing anyone here or the previous government. Its not my intention to offend former ministers. If anything I said offended anyone, I retract my words and end my speech.”

 

This rude behaviour of DMK Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan has invited criticism from the public. Condemning minister Thiaagarajan’s behaviour, the BJP TN State President of IT and Social Media CTR Nirmal Kumar questioned, “Don’t you know stage manners?”

After the video of this episode went viral on social media, PTR tweeted that he had a tough day and that he had seen worser days.

“Yesterday was tough, but I’ve had tough days before-some a LOT worse (9/11, GFC) & will have many more The good fight is never easy. Anything that easy, would have been done by now I’ve been an agent of change all my life And change is inevitable Other days will be better”., he wrote on his Twitter.

After this tweet, he posted another tweet in which he compared himself to Argentina-born Cuban revolutionary leader Che Guevera.

This tweet of has led people to resort to speculations on whether he is targeting the DMK high command.

It also gains significance in light of PTR’s recent speech in which he said that he doesn’t have to be anyone’s slave.

One user also satirically wrote that there can be only one ‘Che Guevara of Tamil Nadu’ and that he is from Chepauk, implying to be CM Stalin’s son and Chepauk-Tiruvallikeni MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Complaint Filed Against DMK For Using Minors In Political Protest

A complaint has been lodged with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) against DMK and its leaders for using minor children in political protests.

On October 15, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu staged a statewide protest against the Centre’s alleged ‘imposition of Hindi’ and the implementation of a national-level common entrance test.

A joint statement issued by DMK youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin (46) and party student wing secretary CVMP Ezhilarasan (52), said that the party will hold demonstrations in all district headquarters on October 15, around 9 AM. This comes after a parliamentary panel led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah allegedly recommended that Hindi be made the medium of instruction in central educational institutes in Hindi-speaking states.

The DMK had organized protests at different cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Vellore, etc. In the protest organized in Chennai headed by Udhaynidhi Stalin, school going children were made to participate in the protest.

Pictures circulating in the internet showed school-going children in uniforms attending the protest with placards bearing political and anti-government slogans.

Taking cognizance of the incident, the Legal Rights Protection Forum (LRPF) has filed a complaint with the NCPCR, seeking action into the matter of suppression of the rights of minor children.

In their complaint to NCPCR, they said, “We seek your kind attention and immediate strict action against using minor children for anti Government protests by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu. School children were made part of the protests and they were children who are being used as tools by political organizations to promote their ideologies.”

It continued, “Several images of the children taking part of anti government protests holding placards with slogans ‘Political drama with Hindi, Tamil Nadu will always oppose’; ‘We won’t accept Hindi imposition, We won’t lose our mother’; ‘Don’t snatch our rights, Don’t impose Hindi’ are circulating on social media platforms.”

The complaint ended by saying,” Use of children as props to fulfill political agenda is a kind of child abuse which can result in severe long-term impact on their mental health and is against Article 21 of the constitution of India. We request you to look into this matter of suppression of the rights of minor children and take necessary action.”

RSS Condemns Fake News Spread By Murasoli About RSS And Muthuramalinga Thevar

Aadal Arasan, the state president of the RSS in Tamil Nadu, has condemned the DMK for disseminating false information and propagating rumors about the RSS and Muthuramalinga Thevar.

On October 14, Murasoli, the DMK’s official newspaper, published an article quoting Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar as saying, “Shared over Whatsapp: Death may come at any time, but we should not let RSS infiltrate Tamil Nadu even if we die.”

Condemning the false news published by Murasoli about Thevar and RSS, RSS Tamil Nadu State President Adal Arasan has issued a statement saying that Murasoli published fake stories that Muthuramalinga Devar was opposed to the RSS organization.

In a statement issued by Adalarasan, “Murasoli, the official magazine of the DMK, which heads the ruling coalition in Tamil Nadu, has published a fake news report falsely quoting Pasumpon Muthuramalingath Devar as saying that he opposed the entry of the RSS into Tamil Nadu. Not only is the information false, but Pasumbon Muthuramalinga Thevar was close to the RSS organization during his lifetime and valued friendship with RSS leaders.”

He continued, “The 51st birth anniversary of Sri Guruji Golwalkar, the RSS’s second leader, was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country in 1956.  The ceremony was presided over by Pasumbon Muthuramalinga Devar at Madurai, Tamil Nadu.  “His ideas have been aligned with the RSS’s views,” he said during his remarks at the ceremony.”

He further said,” If the truth is this, it is shameful that the DMK and its mouthpiece are attempting to create a false and negative impression about RSS among the people of Tamil Nadu by stating that Pasumbon Muthuramalinga Thevar, who is respected by patriots and devotees of God, opposed the RSS organisation.”

He concluded by noting that spreading false information and defaming RSS by the official newspaper of the ruling party of a state is strongly condemned.

It should be noted that the Dravidian stockists were before insulting Devar and are now suddenly displaying their affection for Thevar for the sake of votes. Dravida Viduthalai Kazhagam chief Kolathur Mani, who is known for his close ties with banned terrorist organisation LTTE and for being a Periyarist, has questioned in a meeting whether Tamil Nadu people need a Tamil (Muthuramalinga Thevar) who unleashed violence against lower caste people or a Kannadan (EVR alias Periyar) who advised Kamarajar to imprison Thevar. He used the Tamil swear word ‘avan’ to describe Thevar, who is revered by many in Tamil Nadu. Another motormouth periyarist Subhavee previously had the same stance as Kolathoor Mani about Thevar. It is to be noted that Pasumpon Thevar was acquitted of all charges in Ramanad riot 1957. However, Dravidian stockists continue to spread false information about Muthuramalinga Thevar’s involvement in the Ramanad riots.

In another such incident, on the occasion of Thevar Jayanthi (October 30, 2020), the birth and death anniversary of one of Tamil Nadu’s greatest nationalist leaders, DMK chief MK Stalin insulted Thevar by rubbing ‘vibudhi’ prasadam off his hands without even applying it to his forehead in order to maintain his ‘rationalist’ credentials.

The fake narratives of DMK and its ecosystem were exposed by Netizens who quoted the book “Thevar Oru Vaalkai (Life of Thevar)” by Baalu Sathya, in which the friendship between RSS and Pasumon Muthuramalinga Thevar was clearly explained. SG Suryah condemned Murasoli for spreading fake news about Thevar and RSS.

 

 

“We Have 2 Wives & Respect Both, But Hindus Have 1 Wife 3 Mistresses & Respect None”: AIMIM Leader Shaukati Ali Says

All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (English: All India Council for Unity of Muslims, AIMIM) State President, Mr. Shaukat Ali made a controversial remark on Hindu marriage and social norms, while addressing a gathering in the state.

He said, “People say we have three weddings. Even if we have two marriages, we give respect to both the wives in society, but you (Hindus) marry one and have three mistresses and you neither respect your wife nor the mistress. But if we have two weddings, we keep them with respect and our children’s names are also on the ration card.”

The UP AIMIM State President also spoke about the Supreme Court’s decision on the recent Hijab ban issue. He remarked “Hindutva will not decide who will wear what in the country, but the constitution will.”

“The Constitution will decide who will wear what in the country and not Hindutva, but the BJP is working to break the country by raising such issues.”

Mr.Shaukat Ali of the AIMIM targeted the BJP and said that the Muslims had been singled out on issues like Madrassas, lynching, waqf and hijab . “All are happening with us because we are easy to target. When the BJP is weak they take up Muslim issues.” Recently, he claimed that his party would contest all seats in U.P elections to come, and added that several S.P leaders would join them.

The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (English: All India Council for Unity of Muslims) (abbreviation: AIMIM) is an Indian political party based primarily in the city of Hyderabad. It is also a significant political party in the Indian States of Telangana and Maharashtra. It is the second largest party in Telangana Legislative Assembly and in the Telangana Legislative Council. It claims to promote the social, economical, and educational development and effective representation of Indian Muslims and Dalits. Its current leader is Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, based out of Hyderabad, Telangana.

Illegal Water Supply To DMK Member-Owned Businesses Irks Erode Residents

The supply of an illegal drinking water connection to a real estate housing company near Erode with the backing of the ruling party has drawn criticism from the public.

Lakshmanan and Venkatesan, two DMK members who own real estate companies, have listed houses for sale in the 60th ward of Vendipalayam in the Erode Corporation. A water tank with a capacity of 3 lakh liters has been constructed for these houses.

Even though the construction of the residences hasn’t been completed yet, the real estate company’s water tank now has a direct drinking water connection from the nearby corporation-owned irrigation station, so that water can flow 24 hours a day.

According to reports, the water station from which the real estate firm of DMK members is illegally obtaining water was originally supplying the drinking water needs of people of 6 wards of Erode corporation.

Residents of the area are insisting that the abuse of power by the DMK should be stopped and action should be taken against the officials and the DMK members who were involved in getting the illegal pipeline connection.

PFI Offices In Coimbatore Sealed

On October 14, the Coimbatore district administration, sealed four offices of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), a Muslim organization claimed to behind many anti-Govt. protests in India.

Two PFI offices at Coimbatore’s Kottaimedu and Vincent Road as well as the PFI offices at Mettupalayam and Pollachi were sealed. Police have been deployed at the above places and in “sensitive” areas, according to official sources .

St. Joseph’s Charity Oldage Home In Vellore Sealed For Assaulting Inmates

St. Joseph’s Charity Home for destitute and aged persons has been functioning since 2017 in the Gugaiyanallur area of ​​the Vellore district. After receiving reports that the home’s employees were violently assaulting the elderly residents, the then Vellore District Collector Raman ordered to ‘seal’ the home in 2018. Following that, the home, which had been shut down for four years, was apparently reopened in March by its administrator, after receiving orders from the court.

In this situation, a complaint has again been sent to the current District Collector Kumaravelpandian about the charity home where the elderly were being beaten and harassed. The District Collector ordered Vellore Revenue Commissioner Poongodi to conduct an inspection in the controversial home. On October 13, the officers led by the revenue commissioner went to the home and conducted an investigation. After the investigation, 69 elderly people were rescued and admitted to government hospitals for first aid.

Subsequently, the District Collector issued an order to lock and ‘seal’ St. Joseph Charity Home again. Accordingly, this morning the revenue department headed by Katpadi Tahsildar Jagatheeswaran went to the home and sealed it with the help of the Police who were also deployed for security.

During the sealing, a woman working at the home refused to leave and ran into the room and locked the door from the inside. After struggling for half an hour, the police broke the door and brought the woman out. Action has also been taken against the woman for preventing government employees from working. In addition, the revenue department officials have said that an appropriate investigation is being conducted to take legal action against the administrators running the home.

A consultation meeting with the people in Madurai North Constituency 21st Ward was held in the presence of Minister for Commercial Tax and Registration Department Murthy.

A person who spoke in the consultation meeting complained that the Madurai Corporation Officer demanded a bribe of 7 lakh rupees for any approval, claiming that the money was intended for the minister. However, the person was whisked away by DMK cadres while he was complaining about DMK minister on stage.

This unruly behaviour of DMK cadres, crushing the voices of people who attend the consultation meeting, has sparked widespread condemnation.

Previously, a royal wedding in DMK minister Murthy’s house in September that cost over 300 crore and served 4,500 goats and 24,000 chickens raised many eyebrows. The royal wedding had 50 counters to collect Moi (cash/gifts) from guests. The marriage drew ire not only from his own jealous party members, but also from the opposition and the general public due to its lavish spending.
