Arshad From Kozhikode Stabs 17-Year-Old Girl Allegedly For Refusing Marriage

A 28-year-old man named Arshad, who is a native of Kozhikode, stabbed a 17-year-old girl after she withdrew from his marriage proposal. The attack took place this afternoon, on September 28th, in Kallachi, Kozhikode. The accused, Arshad, is a native of Nadapuram in the same district. He stabbed the girl while she was returning home from a private college, and the girl was punched and stabbed twice in the shoulder, as reported by The Hindu Post.

The attack was carried out by Arshad in broad daylight in full public view. According to reports, Arshad, who had been working in Qatar, returned six months ago. It has been alleged that they were in love earlier and decided to marry eight months ago. However, the girl withdrew the proposal due to a disagreement. According to the girl’s father, Arshad used to threaten her over the phone, which led to the girl’s family changing residences.

There is CCTV footage of the girl returning home from college, as Arshad arrived on a motorcycle and stopped the girl on Kallachi Market Road. Footage from a nearby shop shows the assailant following the girl, punching her thrice, and stabbing her with a knife.

In the chilling footage, which is now circulating on social media, one can clearly see the girl running to escape after realizing that Arshad had come to attack her. After the attack was carried out, Arshad tried to escape, but locals who heard the girl’s screams subdued the accused and handed him over to the police.

The police immediately obtained the CCTV footage and registered a case of attempted murder against Arshad.
