The DMK conducted an event commemorating the party’s 75th anniversary and ‘Mupperum Vizha’ at the YMCA Grounds in Nandanam. Apart from TN CM MK Stalin, DMK treasurer TR Baalu, deputy general secretaries A Raja, Ponmudy, and others also spoke. The meeting also included the presentation of awards established in honor of party leaders.
Among the awardees, one of the cadres who was given an award when asked about it said, “I am very happy. I have been associated with the DMK from my college days as a Youth Wing member and it continues to this day without a pause. The reason for that is that the organization has continuously been encouraging us. We have been toiling from Kalaignar’s time. After him, we toiled for Thalapathy and now we have received the affection of Chinnavar (Udhayanidhi Stalin) and we continue to work hard to receive his respect as well. My goal, wish, and objective is that Kalaignar’s family must rule the country and the party. We are Kalaignar’s slaves. We do not bother if we are called bonded labourers working for the family and the party. Yes, we are slaves.”
When asked about how the DMK has functioned as a party, he said, “DMK is a regional party. It has proved that TN can be ruled by regional parties. Regional parties may come and go but it is the DMK that has held fort for so long and protected TN, the Tamil race, the Tamil language, and Tamil culture. We are from small families, and we are given immense respect and because of that we will work hard for the party and stand behind him.”
He also added, “Udhayanidhi Stalin must be made Deputy CM. This post is not for authority. It is only to reduce the workload of our Thalapathy who has been working so hard. We are sure he will do well, and TN will be prosperous.”
When asked about the upcoming Assembly elections in 2026, he said, “We will win 200 out of 234, that is our secret mantra. This is in our blood. It will surely happen, and we believe it will.”
