“Not Even 1% Qualified”: Netizens And BJP Supporters Oppose Move To Cast Sathyaraj As PM Modi In Biopic

In a move that has sparked significant controversy, the announcement that veteran Tamil actor Sathyaraj will portray Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an upcoming biopic has been met with opposition from netizens and BJP supporters.

The film, which is being produced in Bollywood, is slated to be a pan-Indian project, with plans to release it in five major languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and English.

The biopic, which aims to capture the life and legacy of PM Modi on a pan-India scale, has drawn criticism particularly for its choice of lead actor.

One vocal BJP supporter expressed his displeasure in a video statement, emphasizing that Sathyaraj is not an appropriate fit for the role.

“It is said that our most respected PM Modi’s life is going to be made into a pan-India biopic. They also said that Sathyaraj is set to play Narendra Modi. In my opinion, Sathyaraj is not even 1% qualified to act as Narendra Modi. Sathyaraj’s thoughts are different. He is totally not connected to the character and this film. The film crew should not make Sathyaraj act as Modi. Search and find someone worthy to act like Modi in the film. There are other good actors. Search and find. Same like me, others will too oppose you for this decision. He is for sure not fit for this role and film. People whose thoughts are not good should not act in that film. So, to act as Modi, find someone other than Sathyaraj, I request the film crew,” the BJP supporter stated.

Netizens are rooted in the belief that Sathyaraj’s political views and previous public statements are at odds with the character and principles of PM Modi.

Sathyaraj is a vocal supporter of the DMK and has peddled canards about BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In March 2024, he had said “that while there may be a religious storm brewing in the North, in Tamil Nadu, it is  “Madappuyal” (Foolish storm).”, taking a jibe at BJP and PM Modi.
