As India achieved the milestone of inoculating more than one crore doses (1,00,64,032) of Covid vaccines on Friday (August 27), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tamil Nadu sent out a tweet applauding the Chinese government for administering 200 million doses.

This comes at a time when India and China are at loggerheads over the border in Eastern Ladakh.
The post received several negative comments with both political parties and common public calling the party’s post as anti-national.
BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai tweeted that “offered without comment” while pointing out that the media-hyped ‘Kerala model’ has fallen flat with Kerala contributing for half the infections in the country.

BJP Tamil Nadu spokesperson SG Suryah, responding to the CPIM tweet said, ” Tamil Nadu Communists celebrating China’s vaccine doses administered. For record, they never celebrated India’s terrific feat in vaccine administration,”.
