Earlier in the month of May, eastern India was hit by the super cyclonic storm Amphan. Strong winds and heavy rains had resulted in widespread damage in the states of eastern India, especially West Bengal.
Bottle Rockets India, a music band from Guwahati consisting of six members will be performing live through an e-concert in order to raise funds for providing relief to the cyclone ravaged areas. The concert is on June 28, 2020, which will be streamed from 8 pm. The proceeds will be directed to Bangla Sanskriti Manch’s campaign named ‘Lighting Up Lives for the Sundarbans’.
The fundraiser is hosted by We Care. It is an amalgamation of artists and professionals who are part of the entertainment and media industry. They are driven to create fundraising relationships by shedding light on social causes. The initiative backed by citizens ensures the facilitation of food, transportation, and medical aid to those in need during grave times such as the Covid-19 crisis and to those greatly impacted by Amphan. It is built by the efforts of Shilpi Singh and aided by Devashish Makhija, a filmmaker. They primarily organize online events to raise funds for credible Non-Governmental Organizations, civil society activists, and philanthropic organizations that strive to provide relief.
“Nature heavily influences us, and we believe that nature, together with music can heal the world. We have tried to make sure that we are associated not only with music and events, but will also extend our hands for generating awareness and community building services”, said Argahdeep Barua, an actor to a source.
