DMK sympathizers and IT Cell members trend venomous hashtag against Brahmins

In yet another rabid attack on Brahmins by the DMK, the party’s IT Cell members and sympathizers on social media have been putting out vitriolic posts against Brahmins with the hashtag #நூலிபான்கள் (‘Noolibangal’ – ‘Nool’ in Tamil means thread denoting the ‘poonool’ or ‘janeu’), equating Brahmins with Talibans.

A Twitter user named Saimanraj (@Saimanrajs), the DMK IT Wing- Social Media In-Charge of Thiruvarur district has been putting out toxic posts against Brahmins. Here is a look at some of his posts.

One of the posts that Saimanraj posted says “In Afghanistan, there is Taliban. In India, we have these fellows (Brahmins)”. He had posted it with the caption that ‘nool’ (thread) is more dangerous.

Here is another Twitter profile with #DMK4TN that had peddled hatred towards Brahmins.

Kaajal Pasupathi, alleged actress and a vocal supporter of the DMK has also been putting out posts targeting the Brahmins.

In the above post, Kajal says that she shall call Brahmins as Noolibans from now.

The hashtag was supposedly started by a Twitter ID (@thoatta) and amplified (@angry_birdu), the latter known for peddling misrepresented and fudged data in order peddle a narrative favourable to the DMK.

In the above post, the @thoatta claims that even the Taliban expressed grievance over photographer Danish Siddiqui’s death while ‘Noolibaangal’ celebrated to which @angry_birdu replies saying that hence forth they shall use the name ‘Noolibangal’ for Brahmins.

The derogatory hashtag has been heavily retweeted by those claiming to ‘belong to the Dravidian stock’, having photos of MK Stalin and DMK.

It is to be noted that the sacred thread is not just worn by the Brahmins but also other communities like Vishwakarma, Vanniya Kula Kshatriyas (during ceremonies), etc.

The DMK and its branch organizations is known for peddling hatred towards Brahmins to the extent of even giving calls of holocaust of the community. The ‘anti-Brahmin’ vitriol is the fuel on which the DMK has been milking its political capital in order to consolidate other wealthy non-Brahmin landed aristocratic communities like the Chettiyars, Mudaliars, Pillaimaars, etc. Despite the Brahmin community comprising of 2% or less, they have been peddling hatred against the community for several decades.
