Viluppuram DMK cadres intimidate daily wage workers of government procurement centre

Tension escalated in Kumalam village near Villupuram as DMK cadres intimidated daily wage labourers working at the government’s paddy procurement centre.

The government paddy procurement centre employs around 10 daily wage labourers. In this situation, on May 18th, a video of daily wage workers accusing the DMK cadres of intimidating them went viral on social media.

In the video, they said, “The Kumalam Paddy Procurement centre employs about ten daily wage worker families. Yesterday, DMK cadres threatened us to not work in the paddy procurement centre as their men would come to work.”

They went on to say that the DMK cadres claimed control of the paddy procurement centre.

At the end of the video, they said, “We thought that this government would be free of intimidation. But what is happening is different.”
