TN’s Mia Khalifa: Netizens divided over Oviya’s tweet, some ask if she is under DMK-IPAC’s payroll

Actress Oviya, popular for being a contestant on the reality show Bigg Boss and for her sleazy roles in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema, tweeted a hashtag “#GoBackModi” on Saturday (February 13) in light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tamil Nadu.

Prime Minister Modi is visiting Chennai on February 14 to inaugurate the second phase of the Chennai Metro rail project costing ₹3770 crores. The PM is also expected to lay the foundation stones for several development projects such as the  railway electrification project between Chennai Beach and Athipattu costing ₹293 crores, the Kallanai Canal expansion project costing ₹2640 crores and the discovery project at Indian Institute for technology at Thaiyur. The visit of the Prime Minister comes amid the impending Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu.

It has become an organized exercise of the DMK IT Cell and its trolls to trend ‘Go Back Modi’ on Twitter whenever the Prime Minister visits the state.

While Oviya has so far remained apolitical, the recent tweet by former Bigg Boss contestant has caught the eye balls of many.

Netizens hail her as Tamil Nadu’s ‘Mia Khalifa’; however, they remain divided as to the basis of calling her so. Many also called her tweet as attention-seeking in order to remain relevant, considering that her career in films has not picked up.

BJP leaders on the other hand have alleged that Oviya is being hired by DMK-IPAC for their political gains. The party’s State President of IT & Social Media said that ‘PK’ (Prashant Kishor) is providing business opportunity for “marketless people” like Oviya, whose original name is Helen Nelson.
