Protestors in Delhi have gathered in large numbers near the Red Fort in Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier started the Republic Day celebrations and delivered his Republic Day address to the nation.
The protestors removed the Indian national flag and hoisted Sikh and Khalistani flags on the Red Fort.

Protestors got past the tight security that is usually at the Red Fort on the occasion of Republic Day, and even climbed on to the ramparts of the centuries old structure.

According to reports, the Khalistani outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) had announced a reward of $250,000 for hoisting the Khalistani flag on the Red Fort on Republic Day.

Delhi is now engulfed with violence unleashed by the protestors. Several police personnel have been injured. There are reports of the protesting farmers trying to run over police personnel with tractors and assaulting a woman police officer.
