To mark the 125th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Government of India has announced that January 23 will be celebrated every year as ‘Parakram Diwas’. The Central Government has also issued a gazette notification declaring January 23 as ‘Parakram Diwas’.
Declaring this on Tuesday, the Union Ministry of Culture said said “The Government of India has decided to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in a special way nationally and internationally from January 23, 2021.”
Earlier, a High Level Committee, headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was constituted to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in a befitting manner.
The High Level Committee will decide on the activities for a one year long commemoration, beginning 23rdJanuary 2021. The Members of the Committee include distinguished citizens, historians, authors, experts, family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, as well as eminent persons associated with Azad Hind Fauj (INA). The Committee will lend guidance to the commemoration activities in Delhi, Kolkata and other places associated with Netaji and Azad Hind Fauj, both in India as well as overseas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit West Bengal on January 23 on the occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary celebrations which will be held at Victoria Memorial, according to a report by the TOI. The PM is also likely to visit the National Library located in Belvedere Estate, Alipore.
