Assam HM says that the situation will stabilize by Jun’ 10 despite rise in positive COVID-19 cases

The total number of COVID-19 cases rose to 1463 in Assam as more people came back to their native state. This demographic includes interstate migrant workers along with flight passengers from Kuwait, who are quarantined in Guwahati University’s hostels.

However, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the situation will stabilize by June 10. He has expressed confidence as the surge is almost entirely due to new entrants who are being quarantined if they test positive.

Recently, Assam took up the lead and exceeded the pace of Kerala’s preventative measures.

By the end of May, the total number of tests had already surpassed 1 lakh in Assam (compared to 70k+ in Kerala).

Today, Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a Boragaon-located laboratory, powered by the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) & Institute of Advanced Study in Science & Technology (IASST) that can test up to 10,000 samples daily, another addition to the efforts put out by Himanta Biswa Sarma and his team.
