Passengers flying to and from Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport will now have access to three PPE vending machines. It has claimed to be the first airport in the country to get these machines.
An airport spokesperson confirmed to USA Today that a three pack of face masks are being sold for $7.50, while a reusable cloth mask is priced at $14.50. Ten packs of alcohol wipes cost $5.25 and a 50mL bottle of hand sanitizer costs $4.25.
While this has been reported to be the very first airport to get these amenities, it isn’t the only one; Tulsa’s international airport has also started selling PPEs in their existing vending machines and airport retail stores.
There has been no mandate passed so far regarding the wearing of masks and related PPE, but the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations to wear face coverings while in public – including during travel – have remained unchanged.
Three of the country’s biggest airlines – Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and United Airlines – will not force customers to fully comply with the CDC’s guidelines on face coverings.
USA has currently recorded about 1.47 million cases, and the death toll is currently at 88,237.
