Woke Trash Flop Film Dorothy Director Karthik Subbaraj Goes On A Rant Against Mohan G

Director Karthik Subbaraj has gone on a rant against filmmaker Mohan G over his remarks during a discussion about Dorothy, condemning his questions to a transgender woman about marriage, sexual relations and having children as “transphobic” and a form of “violence”.

In a video, the Jigarthanda director said he was “deeply hurt and angry” after his team showed him a clip of Mohan G speaking to a transgender woman named Neha about the film.

Subbaraj said he had no problem with Mohan G criticising the movie, but took particular offence at the questions he posed to Neha about what would happen after marriage and whether a transgender woman could have children.

According to Subbaraj, Neha had explained that a man and a transgender woman could marry, share love and companionship, and live happily together. However, he alleged that Mohan G repeatedly returned to questions about their sexual relationship and ability to have children.

“They keep harping on about marriage and happiness, but ultimately, the point they drive at is—‘You can’t have normal sex and bear a child, can you?’ That isn’t even a question; it is a terrible insult,” Subbaraj said.

He went on to describe the remarks as an instance of “transphobia”, which he characterised as unnecessary hatred and violence directed at transgender people.

“Someone feels empowered to make such a blatantly transphobic comment in a public forum. Because the remark he made was an act of violence—violence against that woman; it was a clear case of psychological harm,” he said.

Subbaraj then declared that he condemned Mohan G’s remarks in the strongest possible terms.

“You can say whatever you want about the movie—I don’t even care. But there is such a thing as basic humanity,” he said.

He also mocked the idea that marriage, sexual relations and having children should be treated as the ultimate purpose of human life.

“If you believe that being human—or the ultimate goal of life—is simply about getting married, having ‘proper’ sex, and bearing children… well, even dogs do that,” Subbaraj said.

He further questioned whether couples who are unable to conceive should be considered incapable of living happily together.

“Nowadays, when a man and a woman face various issues and are unable to conceive, does that mean they are unfit to live, or unfit to be together happily?” he asked.

The director maintained that a person’s ability to have children should not determine whether they can lead a happy life. He argued that discussions about cinema should not become an occasion to humiliate people over their gender identity.
