A 28-year-old man was hacked to death by two unidentified men in Triplicane, Chennai, on Monday night (28 September 2026), after two women allegedly called him outside his house on the pretext of having a conversation, as reported in The Hindu.
The victim, identified as Ajith, a resident of Venkatarangam Pillai Street in Triplicane, worked as a technician with a private mobile operator.
According to the police, Ajith was inside his house with his parents, Natarajan and Sarasammal, when two women came to their doorstep and asked him to step outside for a chat.
Ajith went outside with the women and was speaking to them when two unidentified men approached him. The assailants allegedly pulled Ajith away and attacked him indiscriminately with knives.
He sustained multiple injuries, including wounds to his head and face.
Hearing the commotion, Ajith’s parents rushed outside to help him. The attackers allegedly threatened them with knives, and Sarasammal suffered an injury to her hand while attempting to rescue her son.
The Ice House police reached the spot after being alerted about the incident. Ajith’s body was recovered and sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem examination. Sarasammal was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for treatment.
The police have registered a murder case and launched an investigation into the incident.
Investigators are examining whether the murder was linked to an earlier dispute. Police have also collected and reviewed CCTV footage from the area in an attempt to identify the assailants.
According to the police, the four suspects, including the two women, fled the scene on two two-wheelers.
The investigation is underway.
