Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President KS Alagiri on Monday had visited the family members of the deceased Jeyaraj and Bennicks at Sathankulam along with Congress workers Mayura Jeyakumar, Oorvasi Amirtharaj, Kanyakumari Member of Parliament Vasanthakumar, former MP Dhanushkodi Athithanhad accompanied him.
He had handed over a cheque for ₹10 lakhs as relief.

Though it is a routine affair for political parties to visit members of those who are affected by a tragedy, what raised eyebrows over this incident was the full-blown page advertisement with a large image of KS Alagiri along with images other members stated above.
This has led to public outrage with the party getting condemned for resorting to taking advantage of a tragic situation and doing politics over the death of Jeyaraj and Bennicks.
