
Rapper Arivu was arrested in Chennai on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, after staging a protest outside the Secretariat demanding the cancellation of the NEET exam, as reported in Daily Thanthi.

The arrest came amid ongoing protests across the country by various organizations and students demanding the scrapping of NEET. Arivu staged a surprise protest outside the Chennai Secretariat, raising slogans against the exam.
According to police, the singer attempted to enter the Secretariat premises without authorization to protest. Security personnel on duty intervened and stopped him.
Police subsequently arrested Arivu for attempting to enter the Secretariat without permission.
The incident caused a brief commotion in the area.
Later, upon learning of the incident, CM Joseph Vijay directed officials to bring him to the Secretariat. It is reported that he met Arivu.
