Arjun Sampath, the chief of the Indu Makkal Katchi, told reporters at the Arulmigu Sri Mutharamman Temple Kumbabhishekam ceremony in Aththipattu Puthunagar, Tiruvallur district, that the demand for a Kongu state has been going on for 20 years and that the division of Tamil Nadu into three states will help it progress.
He claims that the DMK’s election promise of reducing petrol and diesel price was a ploy to win the elections. He also urged that the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE) open the temple for worship during the auspicious month of “Aadi,” and also demanded that the government should take steps to provide food grains to all temples to make porridge.
He explained,” It is unfortunate that Kamaraj’s birthday is not commemorated on a regular basis at government offices and educational institutions. I request that the Chief Minister provide Hindu students with the same types of scholarships that minority students receive.”
He blamed Congress and the DMK for hindering the central government to bring petrol and diesel under GST, claiming that if they were, petrol would be available for ₹60.
