Police arrest protestors instead of those involved in conversion; Hindu Munnani protests

At a school in Punnamachathiram, Karur, 3 men and 2 women representing a Christian Missionary, stood in front of a private school and provided cake and the News Testament of the Bible to students, in an attempt to convert them to Christianity. Parents, members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Munnani, opposed this and besieged the car in which the missionaries travelled. The Police who had arrived escorted both sides to the police station for an enquiry.

The Police who assured to take action against Pastor Mangalaraj, have filed a case against the District VHP Vice-President Chinnarasu and 10 others, based on a complaint lodged by Pastor Mangalraj. Due to this, the Hindu Munnani opposed this biased move of the Police and blocked the Karur-Salem Highway, as a sign of protest.

Subsequently, the Police officials, under the leadership of ADSP Kannan, arrived at the scene of protest and tried to speak a compromise with them. After the Police officials said that appropriate action would be taken if a formal complaint was lodged, the members of Hindu Munnani dispersed. In addition, the Hindu Munnani have also submitted a petition to take action against the Velayuthampalayam Police officials who arrested the Hindu Munnani head instead of the Pastor who was involved in converting school children.
