A video has surfaced online in which members of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) can be seen extorting money from traders in Salem to fund their 2 day anti-Hindu conference.
DVK, a rabid anti-Hindu outfit conducted a 2-day meeting in Salem titled “This is Tamil Nadu, A Warning Meeting Of Young Generation”.
In this meeting, Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin who is also the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development participated in the conference on Sunday (30 April 2023) along with DMK Minister KN Nehru and VCK leader Vanni Arasu.
During the meeting, six resolutions were passed against “Vedic Brahminical regime being brought by BJP under the garb of Hindutva”.
In the name of raising funds for the event, members of the DVK had gone on a money collection drive to from public, traders and shopkeepers in and around Salem.
The video which is now viral on social media shows members of the rabid anti-Hindu outfit, extorting money from a shopkeeper at a wholesale shop in Arunachalam Asari street near the Salem old bus stand.
Members clad in black-shirts reportedly entered the shop and demanded money with audacity. The shopkeeper Mahaveerar offered ₹100 but the “Periyar”ist gang insisted that he pay ₹500.
When Mahaveerar refused to pay the amount saying that his business is dull, the “Periyar”ist gang allegedly disrespected him and made xenophobic comments against him saying “You’re an outsider living and doing business here, and you’re saying you can’t give us money?”
Following this, the enraged shopkeeper started arguing with the “Periyar”ist gang comprising of mostly young men, asking them to first respect elders.
“What’s my age your age? You won’t give respect for age? Are you doing rowdyism here?”, Mahaveerar says and dials the police.
One member from the gang can be seen threatening the workers in the shop “What will you do man? Talking like a big pudingi (Tamil cuss word)” while another person can be seen urging Mahaveerar to keep the phone.
The DVK member later says to Mahaveerar “you talk to whomever you want, don’t get tensed, do whatever is proper without getting tensed”
Mahaveerar can be heard angrily asking the police “Is there no law & order? Should we die sir?”
