Pastor who stole bikes to organize prayer meetings held

Vijayan Samuel, a pastor at the Christian Brothers Assembly Church in Mathurai who had stole bike and sold it a cheaper price was arrested by the Mathurai police.

Vijayan Samuel was riding the vehicle on Saturday near Pazhanganatham when suddenly the vehicle broke down. He took it to a mechanic shop nearby. Upon seeing the vehicle, a surprised mechanic told Samuel that it will some time to fix it. The pastor had asked the mechanic to do the job and he left for a nearby shop meanwhile.

The mechanic immediately alerted a customer who had informed of his bike being stolen earlier. The customer had come and confirmed that it was his bike and informed the police who arrived immediately to the spot. As the pastor arrived to the mechanic shop, he was nabbed.

During investigation it was found that Pastor Vijayan Samuel was a habitual bike thief. He had stolen more than 12 bikes before and used that money to organize ‘jebakootam’ (prayer meetings). The police have recovered the other vehicles too. The pastor thief VIjayan Samuel was later sent to judicial custody.

This incident had shocked the fellow pastors and also the members of Christian community who were regular to the church where he worked as a pastor.
