Pakistan-Administered Facebook Pages Turned Into Vijay-TVK Propaganda Accounts?

A network of Facebook pages and profiles promoting actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is alleged to have links to administrators based in Pakistan, raising questions over the origins of some of the social media accounts being used to build Vijay’s political image.

The findings point to a pattern in which existing Facebook pages with unrelated identities are allegedly acquired, renamed and repurposed to post content about Vijay and TVK.

One example cited is a page that reportedly changed its identity multiple times, from “Tahiru Quadri Fan’s 2.0” to “Fan Of Owaisi”, then “Ayatullah Khamenie Fans”, before eventually becoming “Vijay Thalapathy TVK.”

The apparent transformation raises a basic question: how does a page that once presented itself as a fan page associated with figures from Pakistan and the wider Islamic political sphere suddenly become a Tamil Nadu political page supporting Vijay?

Page Transparency Reveals Pakistan Links

According to the material examined, Facebook’s Page Transparency information for several pages and profiles carrying Vijay-related content lists administrators or page managers located in Pakistan.

Some profiles reportedly carry Pakistani telephone numbers beginning with the +92 country code, while other information associated with the accounts points to educational institutions in Pakistan, including Superior College in Toba Tek Singh.

The accounts themselves, however, are presented as pages dedicated to Vijay, TVK, Tamil Nadu politics, artwork or public-help content.

This creates a striking mismatch between the apparent identity of the page and the location of the people managing it.

A page may appear to a Tamil Nadu user as a local Vijay fan page, but its transparency information can point to administrators operating from outside India.

Buying Old Pages And Giving Them A New Identity?

The pattern suggests a possible business model behind some of these accounts: acquire pages that already have followers and engagement, change their names and branding, and then use their existing reach to distribute political content.

Instead of building a new page from zero, an established page with an existing audience can be converted into a Vijay or TVK page.

Such a practice could also allow political content to gain traction more quickly because the repurposed page already has followers, engagement history and algorithmic reach.

The alleged rebranding trail — from foreign political and religious fan pages to Vijay-focused accounts — is particularly significant because it provides a visible record of how some of these digital properties may have changed identities over time.

Part Of A Larger Vijay Image-Building Operation?

The Pakistan-linked pages become more significant when viewed alongside the wider social-media campaign already reported around Vijay.

We had earlier reported a coordinated effort to build a “Vijay for PM” narrative through fabricated or exaggerated claims, multilingual content, AI-generated material and targeted social-media campaigns. Posts have allegedly repackaged existing government schemes, laws and developments as achievements personally introduced by Vijay, while similar content has been tailored for audiences in different States.

Another investigation found a growing network of street-style “vox pop” videos in cities such as Varanasi and Mumbai, where people are repeatedly shown choosing Vijay when asked who they want as the next Prime Minister. Several of the influencers involved openly advertise paid collaborations and promotions. The videos are then packaged to create the impression that Vijay already enjoys widespread support outside Tamil Nadu.

Against this backdrop, the discovery of Facebook pages apparently changing identities and subsequently being used to promote Vijay raises another question: is an existing digital audience being repurposed to manufacture political reach for Vijay?

Inflating Numbers: From Box Office To Social Media

Vijay’s social-media numbers also raised questions about whether perceived popularity is being manufactured through inflated metrics when he was just starting his political campaign. In August 2025, a TVK conference post crossed 10 million likes despite Vijay having only 14.1 million followers, with analytics showing extraordinary spikes and a large share of engagement originating outside Tamil Nadu.

This is not an isolated allegation. A similar pattern has surrounded his films, with Leo promoted as a ₹600-crore blockbuster despite official filings putting theatrical revenue at ₹160.56 crore.

The numbers may change. The tactic appears familiar: inflate the numbers, then sell the perception of mass popularity.

Who Is Behind These Pakistan-Based Pages?

The Pakistan connection cannot be brushed aside. Why are pages targeting Tamil Nadu audiences being administered from Pakistan? Who operates them, and who pays for them?

The bigger question is whether these are pre-existing pages being bought, renamed and repurposed to manufacture political reach. Some reportedly carried entirely different identities before suddenly becoming “Vijay Thalapathy TVK” pages, allowing their existing followers to be converted into an instant audience for Vijay and TVK.

This becomes more significant given the wider campaign to build Vijay’s national image. We had previously reported on Voice of Commons and Route Media and their alleged role in promoting the “Vijay for PM” narrative through misleading claims, multilingual content and artificial-looking vox pops.

So, could the same network be involved in acquiring and repurposing these pages?
