“Netflix is a ‘haram’ platform and promotes homosexuality, adultery, and heresy” laments Egyptian Islamist

Exiled Egyptian Islamist Wagdi Ghoneim has called the US-based online streaming giant Netflix a platform that promotes homosexuality, adultery, heresy, and drug addiction.

Islamists are angry with Netflix because the content that is shown is not subject to any censure or censor. One Islamic scholar called the platform a “prostitute of a channel” that preaches “total liberation” and that people should be free from prohibitions and restrictions.

“Boycott Netflix, immediately, which is a criminal, sinner, prostitute of a channel. Netflix is a satellite channel [sic] that has many subscribers, unfortunately. Maybe they are not aware [of its nature] when they pay the subscription fee. It is true that this fee is a small sum, but a little and a little and a little adds up to lot for [Netflix]. This criminal channel preaches something called ‘lifestyle.’ Lifestyle means a new way of life,” said Wagdi Ghoneim.

The main problem Wagdi Ghoneim has with Netflix is, it never distinguishes between Halal and Haram.

He said, “What’s new about it? Freeing yourself of all restrictions. In other words, it means that there is no such thing as Halal and Haram. Do whatever you want and as you please. What is this? It is heresy. This channel allows all the things that are Haram,”.
