Muslim man arrested for making derogatory comments on Hindu deities

Ullal police on Saturday, May 15, arrested a Muslim man in Mangaluru, Karnataka, in connection with allegedly making derogatory comments about a Hindu deity on social media and hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindu community.

The accused has been identified as 25 years-old Swaliz Iqbal of Smart City residential complex in Thokottu, Mangaluru.

The police arrested the accused after his comments on a Hindu deity went viral on social media. Iqbal reportedly runs a furniture business in the city.

A video of Iqbal insulting a Hindu deity went viral on social media three days ago. Later, when the audio of the same video went viral on social media, members of a Hindu organization filed a complaint against Iqbal at Bantwal police station. Later, a case was filed at Ullal police station.
