“Are You Indian Or Sri Lankan?” More Details Emerge In Attack On Hindu Youths In London After Being Asked About Their Ethnicity

Three British Hindu men were injured in what police are investigating as a racially aggravated assault at Harrow Recreation Ground on the evening of Friday, 30 May 2025. The incident first appeared in Harrow Online, where it was initially described simply as a “fight” involving several individuals, without any mention of the victims’ ethnicities or nationalities.

INSIGHT UK was the first to uncover that all three victims were Hindu men — two of them British Hindus of Sri Lankan descent, and the third a British Indian of Gujarati origin. According to a family member of the British Indian victim, the attack was unprovoked and violent. It was also reported by The Commune.

The incident began at approximately 18:11, when police responded to reports of a fight. London Ambulance Service crews also attended the scene, where a 20-year-old man was found with a head injury and taken to hospital. The two other victims made their own way to hospital afterwards. All sustained injuries, but none are believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The sister of the British Indian victim said the attack followed an exchange near a café in Harrow Recreation Ground, where a group of men — some with women wearing hijabs — were sitting. The suspects, who are described as tall, with light brown skin, and one wearing a Moroccan football T-shirt with “Hakimi” and the number 2, allegedly asked the victims about their ethnic backgrounds, then attacked them. The sister said two of the victims fell unconscious after sustained punching and kicking.

The Metropolitan Police initially described the incident as a “fight”, adding that there was “no evidence at this time that the attack was racially motivated”, but subsequently amended their view. Police are now investigating the incident as a racially aggravated assault.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who may have information or relevant footage from the Harrow Recreation Ground at the time of the incident to come forward. So far, no arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large.
