Traffic came to a standstill in Krishnagiri after supporters of TVK MLA Mukund Pandian allegedly held a grand welcome procession on his return from Chennai, causing inconvenience to motorists in the scorching heat.
Despite instructions reportedly issued by the party leadership asking cadres not to conduct victory celebrations in a manner that disturbs the public, a large number of party workers gathered at the Aindhu Roundana area to receive the MLA.
According to reports, TVK cadres burst loud firecrackers in the middle of the road and took out a procession accompanied by drums and music, leading to chaos and severe traffic congestion in the locality. Motorists were left stranded for a long time as vehicles piled up on the busy stretch.
