Kollywood Jumps In To Buttress DMK Scion Udhayanidhi’s Pet Project F4 Race Event

Kollywood stars Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan, A.R. Rahman, and Kamal Haasan, who have often remained silent on public issues under the DMK administration, are now fervently praising DMK scion Udhayanidhi Stalin’s ambitious “F4 race” project in Chennai. Their enthusiastic endorsements, including claims that the event will attract significant investments to Tamil Nadu, come as the race awaits the necessary FIA homologation certificate amid growing public concerns about safety, traffic disruptions, and noise pollution.

Kollywood Simps For Udhayanidhi’s F4

These actors went on to an extreme simp mode over the event, even suggesting that it will attract significant investments for the state.

The race will take place on a 3.7-kilometre circuit spanning four public roads around the Island Grounds in Chennai, provided that it receives the necessary homologation certificate from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) as demanded by the Madras High Court.

Kollywood actor Dhanush was the first to post his wishes on his X handle. He wrote, “Congratulations @udhaystalin bro on India’s first On Street Night F4 Championship and Indian Racing League. This pathbreaking sporting initiative will elevate Chennai’s stature as India’s destination for marquee sports events.”

Kollywood actor Siva Kartikeyan extended his congratulations to the DMK scion, stating, “Congratulations to @Udhaystalin sir on bringing South Asia’s first On Street Night Formula 4 Championship to Chennai! Wishing you success with this initiative sir.”

Kollywood music director AR Rahman stated, “The forthcoming Formula 4 street race in Chennai is poised to be a momentous occasion, signifying the first of its kind in the nation. A big congratulations to @udhaystalin for bringing this extraordinary Formula 4 street race in Chennai and adding excitement to Indians.”

Finally, part-time politician and full-time Kollywood actor Kamal Haasan remarked, “Excited for Chennai to host the #Formula4 Race! Thrilled to see our spirit, hospitality, and sporting excellence on display. Congratulations to @mkstalin @Udhaystalin  for transforming Tamil Nadu into the Sports Capital of India and the Detroit of the East.”

F4 Safety Concerns

In response to concerns raised in a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by BJP spokesperson A.N.R. Prasad and represented by senior counsel V. Raghavachari and advocate Sunny Sheen Akara, the court mandated that a copy of the FIA certificate be provided to the petitioner’s counsel. The PIL aimed to halt the race due to concerns about public safety and logistical issues.

The court’s review also covered traffic management, as significant disruptions are expected during the event. An affidavit from V. Baskaran, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East), outlined the extensive traffic diversions planned for the race days. The court instructed the police to maintain smooth traffic flow on these diverted routes to minimize disruptions for drivers. A substantial police presence will be deployed around the race circuit, including multiple Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and constables. Parking arrangements have been made for 4,250 cars and 4,600 two-wheelers at 18 locations, including the University of Madras campus and nearby grounds.

Concerns were also raised about noise pollution affecting nearby hospitals, such as the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital. The court reiterated a February 19 directive that required measures to avoid disturbing in-patients during the race. Organizers have been ordered to install soundproofing or acoustic panels to manage hospital noise levels and ensure public safety during the event. However, during a press conference, the organizers seemed clueless about the decibel levels the event could generate. Given the fact that there are hospitals near the race circuit, none of the Kollywood stars have raised any question on these lines.

In what seems like an effort to get a good name for themselves using the F4 event, these Kollywood ‘stars’ have only praised the DMK scion instead of speaking up for the public.

Despite public concerns and logistical challenges surrounding the F4 race, leading Kollywood figures have chosen to lavish praise on Udhayanidhi Stalin’s initiative rather than addressing potential issues. Their overt support seems more focused on aligning with the DMK scion’s ambitions than voicing concerns for the public, raising questions about their priorities in championing public interests.
