Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Chennai to launch the autobiography of DMK chief MK Stalin ‘Ungalil Oruvan’.
Speaking on the occassion, Rahul Gandhi mentioned about his speech in the Parliament in which he had mentioned Tamil Nadu multiple times. In direct contrast to the explanations given by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on the Indian Union, Rahul Gandhi said that it is the union of states that come together to form India. He also cast aspersions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi that when he comes here, he tries to impose his idea on the people of Tamil Nadu.
Responding to the statements made by Rahul Gandhi, BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai gave a stinging rebuttal in which he pointed various instances where the Congress in alliance with DMK had acted against the interests of the Tamil people.
In his rejoinder, Annamalai addressed Rahul Gandhi as India’s “divider-in-chief” and went on to say that the Congress leader should’ve spent time doing cookery show (taking a jibe at his featuring in prominent cooking channel on YouTube) instead of fanning separatism.
He also pointed out that unlike Rahul Gandhi claimed, the states did not come together to form the Indian union rather it was the Union which has created the states for administrative reasons.
He also pointed out various instances like the giving away of Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka and the apathy shown by the Congress government in Centre and the DMK government in the state during the Sri Lanka Civil War.
He said that if at all the Congress leader wants to resolve anything, he could try resolving the infighting at Satymurthy Bhavan (Tamil Nadu Congress headquarters).
