“If You Add A Zero, They’ll Sell Their Wives”: BJP Slams Telangana Congress MLA’s Brother Hate Speech Against Dalit Community Madigas

The younger brother of Manakondur Congress MLA Kavvampalli Satyanarayana stirred controversy with his shocking statement alleging that Madigas, a sub-caste, engage in the practice of selling their wives for as little as ten thousand rupees. He went on to assert that Madigas are infamous for this alleged behavior, suggesting that they would exchange votes for monetary gain without hesitation. These remarks, deemed highly objectionable, have drawn strong condemnation from leaders within the Dalit community.

In a public address, Prakash, the MLA’s brother, made disparaging remarks about the Dalit community at a gathering where he was invited to speak in place of his brother. He expressed, “There is a stamp on us that we are a selling race. Votes are sold for a thousand rupees. If you add another zero, you will sell another one. If you add another zero, you will sell another one. We have a misconception that if we add another zero, we will also sell our wives.’

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and debate, particularly among Dalit circles. Critics argue that such divisive rhetoric perpetuates harmful stereotypes and exacerbates social discrimination against Dalits, who have historically faced marginalization and prejudice. Many question the integrity of political leaders who resort to such tactics, highlighting the broader issue of electoral malpractice and the influence of money in politics.
