The makers of woke poison Tamil film Dorothy, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and starring Keerthy Suresh, appear to have taken the online backlash against the film to court, with a legal document circulating on social media listing individual accounts, tweet URLs and posts associated with the campaign against the movie.
A document shared on X appears to be a “Schedule to the Plaint”, containing social media posts that the plaintiffs are placing before the court as part of their case. The schedule reportedly runs to 16 pages and lists individual social media handles, specific URLs and the contents of posts, including the hashtag #BoycottDorothy and descriptions of the film as “garbage” or a “disaster”.

The filing appears to mark a legal escalation in the controversy surrounding Dorothy, which faced a wave of online criticism and calls for a boycott following its theatrical release on 25 September 2026. However, the precise relief sought, and the status of the proceedings would need to be confirmed from the complete plaint and court records.
From Dismissing Online Trolls to Documenting Social Media Posts
The apparent legal move comes after Karthik Subbaraj publicly dismissed the boycott campaign and online criticism of Dorothy.
In an interview reported by The Indian Express on 28 September 2026, Subbaraj described X as a “small world” and argued that online criticism did not reflect the response from audiences watching the film in theatres.
“Twitter is a small world and those who think about my film like what you said belong to a smaller world. But audiences who are watching a movie are bigger. Why should we be talking about that?” he said.
He also said he would not engage with online trolls.
“If I give a punch for their punch, it’ll go on forever,” Subbaraj remarked.
The court document now circulating online suggests that social media posts relating to the film have been systematically compiled for legal proceedings. While claiming freedom of expression to make a film, the film team seems to have taken themselves too seriously and hypocritically targeting those practicing free speech by giving their comments.
The schedule reportedly identifies individual social media accounts alongside links to their posts and the content published about Dorothy. Among the material described are posts using #BoycottDorothy and comments calling the film “garbage” or a “disaster”.
The plaint also includes specific URLs which identifies the precise material being presented to the court.
Dorothy Faced Boycott Calls Over Its LGBTQ+ Themes
Dorothy, written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, stars Keerthy Suresh alongside Sananth and Rishikanth. The woke poison film explores gender fluidity themes.
Following its release, sections of social media users criticised its LGBTQ+ themes and accused the film of promoting such ideas. The hashtag #BoycottDorothy was used in posts calling for the film to be boycotted.
Subbaraj had argued that the online hostility did not represent the audience response in theatres and said he welcomed genuine discussion and debate about the film.
Love For Naxals & Terrorists, LTTE Sympathizer – Karthik Subbaraj
Let us also take a look at the personal opinions and who he sides with. Did you know that Karthik Subbaraj is a known sympathizer of LTTE and Naxals like Daniel/Thirumurugan Gandhi?
Here are some screenshots of his X posts that show his outpouring of love and support for the criminals who were involved in the assassination of the Prime Minister of our country.
Love For Terrorist Perarivalan Who Helped Kill Rajiv Gandhi
A.G. Perarivalan is a terrorist convicted for assassinating former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and we have the likes of Subbaraj vouching for his innocence.

When the terrorist was released, he thanked everyone. Looks like he was over the moon!

Love For Urban Naxal Separatist Thirumurugan Gandhi
Thirumurugan Gandhi, a separatist who cloaks himself in the rhetoric of Tamil nationalism, is a simple political fringe, leading a small group called the ‘May 17 Movement’. While he presents himself as a UN speaker, human rights activist, and advocate for Tamil rights, he is nothing, but a two-bit Dravidianist stooge who was propped by the DMK ecosystem.
And we have people like Subbaraj supporting him – their love for LTTE terror organization would have brought them together.

Karthik Subbaraj Supported Protests Against Central Government Policies & Projects
Karthik Subbaraj, like many of his Dravidianwood peers, showed hatred towards the central government, loyalty to the DMK government that was ruling the state by voicing out support for protests against central government projects like the hydrocarbon project in Neduvasal.
Look at him threatening – “When Farmers says NO it’s a NO!!”

People like him have been influencing the lay citizens to go against development and deny people job opportunities while they make such posts from their airconditioned bedrooms in their ivory towers.
He did the same for the Kudankulam nuclear power plant! He wanted politicians to watch the documentary on Chernobyl and use it as a reason to stop the nuclear power plant in TN. Was he so naive that people were not aware of why Chernobyl happened?

He has also been a vocal “anti-NEET” person. Here’s proof.

According to him, getting to NEET exam centres was so difficult so they need to ban it!

How can we forget these Kollywood celebrities and their vocal voices against CAA. Here’s Karthik Subbaraj doing the needful. He found it “seriously wrong and against secularism” and wanted to keep India “secular”. How kind! In the same vein, he even voices against NRC.

Free Speech For Me, Not For Critics?
Karthik Subbaraj has previously backed protests against government policies and projects, including Neduvasal’s hydrocarbon project, the Kudankulam nuclear power plant, NEET, CAA and NRC, publicly exercising his right to dissent. He has also championed cinema as a tool for social change and dismissed online criticism of Dorothy as noise from a “small world” of trolls. However, the reported court filing listing social media accounts and posts critical of the film raises questions about this professed commitment to free expression. Filmmakers are entitled to legal remedies for genuine defamation, but negative reviews and boycott calls are not automatically defamatory. Does his defence of dissent extend to those who reject his own film and its message?
