A man from the NDLF allegedly collected money from passengers aboard a Chennai suburban electric train while making vulgar and derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, prompting a complaint on social media and intervention from railway authorities.
According to the complaint by a netizen who reportedly was from the Hindu Munnani, the incident took place on an electric train operating from Chennai Central towards Tiruvallur.
The individual who was indulging in the act was a person associated with the NDLF (National Democratic Labour Front), a communist trade union organization, allegedly used abusive and highly objectionable language against Prime Minister Modi while soliciting money from passengers.
The complaint further alleged that passengers who objected to his conduct were threatened. In the video, the NDLF member is heard saying, “To protect Tamil history, culture and heritage, let us uphold Keezhadi civilization. There is a programme on the topic, ‘Let us drive out the Vedic civilization that Modi speaks of’. All Tamil afficiandos, people must participate in this, so please contribute to this programme.”

The complainant also claimed that attempts to alert railway authorities by contacting the number displayed inside the train coaches did not result in an effective response, with officials allegedly failing to understand the nature of the complaint.
The matter was subsequently brought to the attention of the Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai, on social media.
Responding to the complaint, the official handle of DRM Chennai said the matter was being treated with “utmost seriousness”.
“Officials have been directed to immediately verify the complaint and take strict action against anyone found violating railway rules,” the response said.
The DRM Chennai further stated that necessary preventive measures would be implemented to ensure that such incidents do not recur in railway premises or trains.
