Christian Pastor encroaches lands of Narikorava community to build Church, villagers rise in protest

More than 50 members of Narikorava community protested in front of the District Collector’s office at Kanchipuram to take action against a Christian Pastor who had illegally grabbed their lands to build a church.

The district administration on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government had granted free pattas to construct houses to members of the Narikorava community in Kuruvimalai near Kanchipuram.

More than 50 families of the Narikorava community have been living in government constructed residences for the past 15 years.

A Christian pastor named Thangaraj has allegedly encroached 50 cents of these housing lands granted to the Narikorava residents, for building a Church. They say that Pastor Thangaraj is using his men and other anti-social elements who threaten and even attack them very often.

In light of this, around 50 members of the Narikorava families assembled at the District Collectorate and protested. They left the spot after the revenue and police officials assured them of taking action against the pastor.
