Chennai Cop-Turned-Criminal: Special Sub-Inspector Sunny Lloyd Masterminds ₹20 Lakh Robbery, Flees After Years of Extortion

Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) named Sunny Lloyd from Saidapet Police Station was implicated in a ₹20 lakh robbery case in Chennai following the kidnapping and extortion of Mohammed Kaus near Omandurar Hospital. Several individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime, including SSI Raja Singh, Income Tax Special Police (SP) Prabhu, and Income Tax Inspector Damodaran, who are suspected to have played roles in the theft.

Investigations revealed that SSI Sunny Lloyd was the mastermind behind the crime. Further inquiry uncovered that Lloyd had been involved in several extortion schemes, including four incidents in the past three months, which led to nearly ₹1 crore embezzlement. He is on the run, and the police have ramped up their efforts to apprehend him.

Investigations revealed Lloyd used the stolen money to open a high-end gym in Zam Bazaar and purchase a resort along the East Coast Road (ECR). He had also been engaged in criminal activities for over five years and had been dismissed from his position thrice.
