NIA Raids Man Linked To PFI In Madurai While DMK-ADMK Call For Releasing Coimbatore Terror Attack Convicts

On Wednesday (11 October 2023), the NIA conducted extensive raids across six states in connection with the Phulwari Sharif case in Bihar, targeting individuals linked to the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI).

The searches were done in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and the Delhi-NCR region based on intelligence about the suspects.

In Tamil Nadu, the NIA conducted searches at the residence of A. Thajuddin Haamidih alias Muhammad Tajuddin in Madurai as part of the investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The NIA team arrived at Haamidih’s residence on Kazimar Street near Madurai Periyar Bus Stand at approximately 5 AM and carried out the search for around an hour. Subsequently, they brought him to the premises of the Police Club of the Madurai City Police for questioning.  It has now emerged that Mohammad Tajuddin was interrogated in connection with this case. Local law enforcement reported that the NIA located Haamidih through phone contacts. However, Haamidih strongly maintained that he had never been to Bihar and had no connection to the case under investigation.

Following the inquiry, the NIA confiscated his cellphone and SIM card, which have been taken into their custody.

It’s worth noting that this raid is also reportedly part of the ongoing investigation into bomb attacks that occurred in major cities, including Lucknow and Hyderabad. Additionally, Mohammad Tajudeen is alleged to have ties with the radical Islamist outfit Popular Front of India. Both the Madurai Metropolitan Police and NIA are actively involved in this investigation. A few reports by media houses note that he is wanted in the “Fake Passport Case”.

Phulwari Sharif Case

The case under scrutiny involves individuals associated with the PFI who are suspected of engaging in unlawful and anti-national activities, including their assembly in the Phulwari Sharif area of Patna, Bihar. A few individuals had conspired to “disturb” the proposed visit of Prime Minister Modi to Bihar. The NIA has found that the criminal conspiracy was devised with the intention to carry out acts of terror and violence, leading to a climate of fear and posing a threat to the nation’s unity and integrity. To advance their conspiracy, the accused arranged rented accommodation in Ahmad Palace in Phulwari Sharif, using it for training in violent activities and conducting conspiratorial meetings.

The NIA explained, “The accused also collected funds, recruited members, organized trainings, and encouraged its members to establish Islamic Rule in India.”

On January 7, this year, the NIA filed a charge-sheet against the four arrested accused in a special court in Patna under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Subsequently, on August 3 of the same year, the NIA filed a supplementary charge-sheet against four additional accused. These individuals were involved in promoting the ideology of the banned outfit and planning criminal acts by arranging arms and ammunition.

Initially registered on July 12, 2022, at Phulwari Sharif Police Station, the NIA took over the case and re-registered an FIR on July 22, 2022 and several individuals were detained. During the course of their investigations, the NIA arrested Athar Parvej, Md Jalaluddin Khan, Nooruddin Zangi (alias advocate Nooruddin), and Arman Malick (alias Imteyaz Anwer) for their alleged involvement in this case.

To date, the NIA has arrested a total of 16 individuals in this case. In August of this year, the 16th accused, identified as Shahid Reza from the Chakia area of East Champaran district in Bihar, was arrested.

AIADMK Urging DMK To Release Muslim Prisoners Including 1998 Coimbatore Blast Convicts

On 10 October 2023, AIADMK, under the leadership of Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), introduced a calling attention motion over the issue of releasing Muslim prisoners including those who have been convicted for the 1998 Coimbatore Bomb Blasts.

The motion called for releasing over 36 Muslim prisoners including the 16 convicts sentenced to life in the 1998 Coimbatore Blasts case on humanitarian grounds considering their long sentences served, old age and health.

On February 14, 1998, a series of powerful bomb explosions rocked Coimbatore, resulting in a tragic loss of life and extensive injuries. The attack targeted a public rally organised by the BJP during the campaign stage of the 1998 Lok Sabha elections. These blasts comprised 12 high-intensity explosions that killed 58 people and injured over 250 individuals.

Chief Minister M K Stalin criticized the AIADMK for its sudden concern for Muslim prisoners serving life sentences, highlighting their past support for the Citizenship Amendment Act. Stalin questioned the AIADMK’s sudden advocacy for Muslim prisoners, emphasizing that they did nothing during their 10-year rule to address this issue. However, CM Stalin expressed his government’s willingness to consider the Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s views on the early release of prisoners.

Pathankot Terror Attack Mastermind Shahid Latif Shot Dead In Sialkot

In the Pakistani city of Sialkot, unknown gunmen have shot and killed the mastermind of the 2016 Pathankot terrorist attack, Shahid Latif. The Pathankot terrorist attack occurred in January 2016 when a group of heavily armed militants infiltrated the Pathankot Air Force Station, an Indian military base located in the town of Pathankot in the northern state of Punjab. The attack was attributed to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which has been accused of having links to elements within the Pakistani establishment.

Latif was one of India’s most wanted terrorists and was sought by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a UAPA case. It is also important to note that in the mid-1990s, Shahid Latif was arrested by India, only to be later released and deported by the Congress government in 2010 in an effort to improve ties with Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

The NIA had filed a chargesheet in the Pathankot terror case and had identified four masterminds behind the attack, with Shahid Latif at the top of that list. “He had motivated and sent down the four JeM terrorists to Pathankot. While in Pakistan, Latif also coordinated with them before and during the terror attack,” the NIA said.

According to available information, Shahid Latif had been imprisoned in India for 11 years for terrorist crimes, and he was one of the 25 terrorists from various groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, and JeM, who were released on May 28, 2010, as part of the then-UPA government’s diplomatic outreach to the hostile neighbor.

On December 24, 1999, Indian Airlines Flight IC-814 was hijacked en route from Kathmandu, Nepal, to New Delhi, India. The flight was an Airbus A300 with 178 passengers and 11 crew members on board. This incident led to the release of JeM founder Maulana Masood Azhar, along with two other prisoners, in exchange for 154 passengers.

Hamas Founder Khalid Mashal Asks Muslims To Gather On Friday Jumu’ah Prayer, Calls For Jihad To Be Applied On The Ground

Khalid Mashal, who is one of the founding members of the Islamic terror group Hamas, a Palestinian terror and political organization that carried out one of the most brutal terror attacks on the Jewish State of Isreal, has asked Muslim across the world to gather on Friday (13 October) in what he called it “the Friday of Al-Aqsa flood”. Mashal in his speech said that the time has come for jihad to be applied on the ground rather than just in theory.

This information was shared by Rachid Hammami popularly known as Brother Rachid @BrotherRasheed on X a Moroccan ex-Muslim who converted to Christianity and whose father is an Imam. From his X handle, Brother Rasheed shared the following.

1. To show anger, especially next Friday, in Muslim countries and Also among Muslim diaspora around the world; he called it “the Friday of Al-Aqsa flood”, he said this will send a message of rage to Zionists and to America.

2. He asked for financial help from all Muslims around the world; to help with their money, he called it “Financial Jihad”. He asked Muslims to give to the fighters of Gaza in order to compensate them for the destruction

3. He asked for political pressure, from Muslim leaders and Muslim nations, to stop Israel’s military invasion of Gaza.

4. The most important thing: He asked all Muslims around the world to carry Jihad by their souls; to fight and be martyrs for Al-Aqsa. He wants Muslims to fight against the Jews, starting with Muslims who live in the countries surrounding Israel: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt (but also other countries), to go to the borders and try to enter, each by his own means. He said: This is the time for Jihad to be applied on the ground rather than just in theory. He asked the Mujahedeen to go in long caravans to spell their blood on the land of Palestine.

These are his final words: Funds are important but today we are asking for your blood and souls [to be sacrificed for Palestine]

Based on Khalid Mashal’s speech, Brother Rachid warned that there could be possible terror attacks and instances of violence across the world where Americans and Jews will be he main targets.

Khalid Mashal’s role within Hamas and in Palestinian politics has been a subject of international attention and controversy due to the organization’s militant activities, its opposition to the State of Israel, and its involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In Islam, Friday is an important day for several reasons for Muslims, and it holds special significance in Islamic tradition Jumu’ah (Friday) Prayer is the most important because Jumu’ah is the congregational prayer that Muslims hold every Friday, just after midday, instead of the regular Dhuhr (noon) prayer.

Seldom any Muslim will miss the Friday prayers as it is also the day to listen to the sermons given by their religious leaders and is considered obligatory for adult Muslim men, while it is highly recommended for women to attend if possible.

“Idiot, Dogs”: Dravidianist Kolathur Mani Abuses Madras HC Judges At Event Celebrating 145th Birthday Of EVR, DMK Spokie Too Attends

In a recent development, Kolathur Mani, the founder of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam, has sparked controversy by making remarks concerning Hindu religious symbols while also launching verbal attacks on respected members of the judiciary.

Mani’s comments came during the 145th birthday celebration of E.V. Ramasamy Naicker (hailed as Periyar by his followers) at Dindigul. During his speech, he said, “A judge named G.R.Swaminathan gave a statement on the Hijab issue that students should not wear religious symbols inside the school campus. But he himself wears a forehead full of vibhuti (sacred ash) with Kumkuma in the centre to the court. If hijab is a religious symbol then vibhuti is also a religious symbol. Then what are you doing wearing it inside the court? You shouldn’t go.”

Kolathur Mani uses the singular (avan) pronoun when talking about Justice GR Swaminathan.

He also attacked Justice Seshasayee saying “Another fellow in Chennai court, Seshasayee explains that Sanathana Dharma is about how citizens must behave with the king, but how the king must treat his citizens, how parents should behave with children and children with parents. Hey, fool (madaya) are you saying all this after reading the book? He did not read the law book properly, you should have at least read this book. We read it fully, to counter these dogs, we are reading all this (sanathana dharma related information).”

Kolathur Mani was earlier in the news for organizing an anti-Hindu rally in which members of several rabid Dravidianist outfits spewed venom against Hindus and Hindu Gods, abusing Goddess Amman, Lord Krishna, Lord Ayyappan and also insulted followers of the Hindu faith.

It is noteworthy that during the same gathering, Rajiv Gandhi, the president of the DMK Student Wing, was also present and delivered a speech.

It’s important to clarify that Justice G.R. Swaminathan was not involved in the Hijab case proceedings, and the case itself was filed in Karnataka, rather than Tamil Nadu.

However, when the Karnataka High Court upheld its ban on hijab in educational institutions, the radical Islamist organisation Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) issued death threats to Supreme Court judges in light of the verdict on hijab given by the Karnataka High Court. Covai R. Rahmatullah, a leader of TNTJ, made inflammatory remarks during an event in March 2022, suggesting that if any harm befalls the judges as a result of the Hijab case verdict, they should be held responsible.

Kolathur Mani’s comments included derogatory language directed at the judges, characterising them as fools and dogs.

Just a couple of months ago, well-known publisher Badri Seshadri, who heads ‘Kizhakku Pathippagam,’ was arrested by Tamil Nadu police in the early hours of 29 July 2023. He faced charges under various sections, including 153, 153A, and 505, in relation to comments he made during an interview on a YouTube channel about the Manipur issue referring to the CJI. The arrest came following a complaint by advocate Kaviyarasu.

The question of whether legal action will be taken against Kolathur Mani, who has close affiliations with the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, is to be watched out for.

#CoimbatoreWillNotForgive Trends As AIADMK Calls For Release Of 1998 Terror Attack Convicts

The memories of the Coimbatore serial blasts of 1998 are still fresh in people’s minds.

Many on social media took to share their experiences of the horrific tragedy that was inflicted by Al Ummah terrorists.

BJP Tamil Nadu State Secretary Dr. SG Suryah mentioned that his grandfather was one of the person who got killed in the bomb blast.

BJP Tamil Nadu State Treasurer SR Sekar too voiced out his opposition in raising the issue of releasing 1998 Coimbatore Terror Attack convicts saying that he too was a victim of the incident.

Coimbatore South BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan mentioned that she and her party MLAs tried brought in a resolution to record the voice of the Hindu victims of the Coimbatore blasts in the Legislative Assembly, they were not allowed to speak fully and hence walked out in protest.

Many on social media have shared snippets about the dreadful day, the wounds of which linger to this day.

In an interview to Behindwoods, one of the police in-charge of security narrates how a man wearing BJP paraphernalia had bombs with him.

“An unexploded car bomb forced us to flee our own home. All the people in the ~10 streets surrounding the car bomb were evacuated. My father left the new house he had worked so hard to build, crying. We experience the pain of the Sri Lankan Tamils and Kashmir Pandits who were forced to flee their homes. Forgetting all this and begging for votes now, Coimbatore will never forgive Edappadi, EDMK, ADMK”, wrote another.

CBI Files Case Against NewsClick For FCRA Violations In Chinese Funding Row

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a case against NewsClick for alleged violations of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. Searches are currently underway at two locations in Delhi, specifically the office and the residence of Prabir Purkayastha, the founder of NewsClick.

This development follows the recent arrest of Prabir Purkayastha and NewsClick’s HR head, Amit Chakravarty, who were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in spreading pro-China propaganda, in a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Notably, their arrest led to the sealing of the NewsClick office on October 3.

The FIR by Delhi Police outlines that a substantial amount of funds originated from China with the intention of undermining India’s sovereignty and inciting disaffection against the country. It also suggests that Prabir Purkayastha collaborated with a group called the People’s Alliance for Democracy and Secularism (PADS) to interfere with the electoral process during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

On October 3, raids were conducted at 88 locations in Delhi and seven in other states, targeting the individuals named in the FIR as well as those identified during data analysis. This resulted in the seizure of approximately 300 electronic devices from NewsClick’s offices and the homes of journalists who were under investigation. Subsequently, 46 individuals, including nine female journalists, were questioned by the Special Cell in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

NewsClick has issued a statement asserting that the actions taken against the portal are a clear attempt to suppress free and independent press in India. The statement also emphasizes that NewsClick has neither received funding nor instructions from China or Chinese entities and has not promoted or endorsed violence, secession, or any illegal activities in any way. They encourage reviewing their freely available online content to verify the accuracy of their claims.

The New York Times alleged that NewsClick got funds from a network linked to Chinese Communist Party linked US millionaire Neville Roy Singham, to promote Chinese propaganda.

ED probe found that NewsClick got ₹38.05 crore in foreign funds over 3 years which was distributed to controversial journalists like Gautam Navlakha and associates of Teesta Setalvad.

“Christian Munnani” Calls For Renaming Murugan Temple Site Chennimalai As “Kalvaari/Yesu Malai”, Hindu Orgs Announce Protest

The Chennimalai Murugan Temple, situated in Erode district and boasting a history of over 3000 years, is in news due to a recent contentious speech by the local Christian Munnani group proposing to rename it as “Kalvaari Mala” or “Yesu Mala”.

This proposition has stirred controversy among the local Hindus, who have been venerating Chennimalai Murugan for generations.

Chennimalai is situated between Erode and Coimbatore. It is known as Siragiri and Chenniyangiri in Devanagiri, and Chennimalai in Tamil, the hill lends its name to the city at its base. The hill is also referred to as Sigaragiri, Pushpagiri, and Siragiri. Notably, the revered hymn ‘Kanda Sashti Kavacham,’ praising Lord Murugan, was first staged by Sri Bala Devaraya Swamigal at this temple.

What Actually Conspired

Unauthorised Christian prayer meetings took place in the predominantly Hindu community of Chennimalai, Erode District, causing local tensions. These meetings aimed to promote the Christian faith and attracted attendees from outside the town.

Offensive remarks about Hindu deities were made during these gatherings through loudspeakers, deeply offending Hindu residents. Despite causing issues, the unauthorised meetings continued.

On 17 September, a confrontation occurred when members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) objected to the meetings and insisted on proper permissions. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation between the BJP members and the Hindu Munnani, resulting in a police case with charges, including attempted murder.

Christian organisations and political groups like the Revolutionary Youth Front, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and MDMK demanded action against those opposing the prayer meetings. Two individuals, Chinnaswamy and Tamilarasan, were arrested by the police, which shocked BJP and Hindu Munnani members who felt the police acted unilaterally.

A Christian demonstration on 26 September 2023 raised concerns as some speakers expressed intent to transform the Chennimalai Murugan temple hill into a “Kalvari Hill”. Hindu organisations mobilized support for protests, and the issue transformed into a religious matter, distressing Muruga devotees and prompting further demonstrations and tensions in the area.

The Hindu Munnani has accused the Christian Munnani, along with certain local Christian missionaries instigated by certain political parties, of publicly giving a controversial speech saying that the sacred Hindu worship site of Chennimalai will be renamed.

The Hindu Munnani has strongly condemned this act, stating that it hurt the sentiments of Hindus. They have announced plans to stage a protest on 13 October 2023. Furthermore, they alleged that the Christian Munnani is undertaking these actions with the support of certain local politicians.

In a recently released video by Indu Makkal Katchi head Arjun Sampath, a Tamil public speaker named Manjunathan expressed strong disapproval for the proposition to rename the sacred Hindu place of worship. He emphasised that Chennimalai holds immense historical and cultural significance in the Erode district, revered by their ancestors for generations.

He said that the Christian Munnani’s suggestion to rename the temple has caused distress among Hindus, who have always been supportive of other communities without animosity. This effort to rename the temple is influenced by political motives and stated firmly that such actions will not succeed. He encouraged support for the protest against Christian Munnani’s divisive proposal on 13 October 2023.

It is noteworthy to mention here that an entire hill of in Tamil Nadu was encroached by Christian missionaries for years. The Vajragiri hill located about 95 km from Chennai along the Chennai-Trichy highway, atop which exists the Pasupathiswarar temple was encroached and there were allegations of local Hindus being denied access to the temple.

BJP’s Mission Telangana: Deliberate Strategy Or Costly Political Blunder?

This is the question that many supporters of the BJP are asking about the sudden turn of events in poll-bound Telangana, scheduled for state elections before the end of the year. With barely three months to go, the BJP’s momentum in the state saw a sudden shift for the worse, after the party’s central leadership moved their strongest, most vocal, most recognized regional Telugu leader, Bandi Sanjay Kumar from the crucial post of President of the Telangana BJP State Unit to a nationally important but regionally non-crucial post of National General Secretary, in July of this year. Instead, Union Minister, Kishan Reddy (Minister for Tourism, Culture and North-East Development) has been brought back to active state-level politics and given the additional position of State President of the party, which he had previously held from 2014-2016.

Is the BJP making the same mistake it had, in the recent Karnataka elections in terms of placing bets on the not-so-great leaders at the regional level? Is the BJP’s Telangana move a smart and strategic one based on a caste-money-influence combination…or is it a hasty, shallow, stop-gap move based on insufficient information carried out at the behest of a state-level leadership, immaturely motivated by infighting, jealousy and caste equations?

To many fans of the BJP in Telangana, Sanjay was the face of the party in the state, a tall and capable leader who almost single-handedly grew the party’s base, increased its popularity and brought it to the level of second largest party, a serious competition to the ruling BRS party which has managed to stay popular in spite of a two term incumbency. Till just a few weeks ago, it seemed that the BJP was second only to the BRS party and was a serious contender for a significant opposition in the state assembly or even the distant possibility of state leadership in collaboration with other parties.

Bandi Sanjay’s acerbic rebuttals, open challenges and bold replies to BRS big wigs including the CM himself, assured the BJP’s state unit, of higher-than-average press coverage and a perception of a strong local party with a strong, capable leader as an alternative to the current BRS party. True to his RSS roots, he spoke passionately about the nation, the state and his faith. Under his fearless leadership, both Sanjay and the party’s other leaders took on certain Hindu-centric causes which earned them supporters from many sections of the Hindu community, especially in the state’s urban centres like Hyderabad.

The impact of a bold, no-holds-barred, fire brand local leader like Bandi Sanjay can be judged by the quick succession of political events, soon after he was removed from his critical ‘President of the State Unit’ position. Ever since Sanjay’s exit from his state post, there has been a surge of renewed energy in the rank and file of the state’s Congress party. A decreased motivation of the state’s BJP unit has played to the advantage of the Congress party and infused it with a fresh lease of life after almost ten years, since Telangana’s bifurcation from the larger, united state of Andhra Pradesh.

The Congress party’s prospects appear to have increased almost overnight, with a steady number of former BRS leaders now wanting to join the party or return to the party they had previously abandoned for the BRS. A few leaders happen to be important district-level leaders with considerable influence among their constituents, while a few others promise to bring in the much needed funds and local connections, that could benefit the Congress significantly in the upcoming eldctions. The party has suddendly woken up from its long slumber and appears to be infused with a new energy that was clearly lacking when BJP’s Bandi Sanjay was a force to reckon with.

Additionally, their recent win in Karnataka has boosted their morale. The party held an important national level CWC (Congress Working Committee) meeting in the state a couple of weeks ago, with Sonia Gandhi herself announcing the party’s “six guarantees” – a set of electoral promises for free or heavily subsidized goods and services, similar to the pre-poll package of “five gurantess” that appears to have led to its electoral success in the May 2023 Karnataka elections. Will its fiscally irresponsible poll promises nevertheless increase the Congress’s chance for a comeback in a state under their control for several decades? Not to be left behind, the BRS party has also announced several attractive economic schemes for the common man besides finalizing its list of candidates.

Under the circumstances, it’s disappointing that the BJP has not yet announced plans for the state including their election manifesto, strategy or a final list of candidates. Are they already late to the game; will the delay and the uncertainty impact its regional political fortunes, painstakingly built from the ground in about five years or so, by Bandi Sanjay, a strong leader who was not afraid of questioning the incumbent BRS party? Sanjay is a leader, whose hard work and dedication to the party were noted and praised by the BJP’s top brass including Prime Minister, Modi.

While the BJP is still second to the BRS as of now, it may only be a matter of a month, before its hard earned gains of the last five years are quickly reversed for the worse, with the Congress taking its place as the chief opposition in the state. The quick, meteoric rise of the Congress party in Telangana after Sanjay’s exit from the state post, renders the BJP’s state election prospects unclear. The change in regional leadership has already impacted the morale and enthusiasm of the state’s BJP cadre. Many had joined the party, renewed their commitment to it and taken on additional responsibilities under the strong, bold and fearless leadership of Bandi Sanjay. Will the cadre work with the same energy and fervour under the new leadership of Kishan Reddy, who has just three months ahead of the elections to recharge the state’s BJP and increase its electoral prospects?

Why did the BJP central leadership agree to engineer this tectonic shift in local leadership at a critical time? What is its real motive and its short term as well as long term goals for its presence in Telangana? Many theories abound with both seasoned analysts as well as novices, discussing the following possibilities:

1.  Focus on the 2024 national versus the 2023 state elections, while the BJP continues to build local strength in time for the next (2028) state elections, when it will be in a better position to aim for a win and call the shots.

2. The BJP’s long term plans of a steady growth and a solid, unwavering, committed vote bank that believes in the BJP’s larger vision for the nation Versus utilizing quick-wins /short-term rhetoric that Mr. Sanjay has sometimes been accused of.

3. A high level, tactical understanding with current Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao’s BRS party, that would result in an advantage for him at the state level and in an equal advantage for the BJP at next year’s national elections…thus accommodating the BJP’s laser-focused goal of returning to power at the Centre for a third term.

4. perhaps the BJP’s central leadership, lacks a deeper awareness of state-level caste equations, hence they are bowing down to pressure tactics from the wrong influencers or the party’s old guard, which is reluctant to adapt to new leaders and ideas?

5. Does the BJP intend to play a carefully considered caste card to its advantage? Bandi Sanjay, a Backward Classes leader, is unlikely to be supported by the higher caste, land-owning commuity leaders, who still exercise considerable financial and voting influence in the rural and semi-urban areas of Telangana. Hence, ensuring that Sanjay is rewarded for his commendable state level work at the grass-roots level, by giving him an important national position ….yet removing him from the state unit, so that the party’s short-terms prospects are not negatively impacted by possible in-fighting, back stabbing and lack of unity.

6. The Telangana Congress unit has historically been dominated by the Reddy community. In spite of weak efforts from the party’s leadership to invite and make members of other castes welcome, the party continues to be one with a heavy ‘Reddy’ presence. The BJP may have decided to field its Reddy leader, Kishan Reddy, to counter the community’s unified vote for the Congress, by wooing them with one of their own?

Whatever the BJP’s strategy, rationale, reasons or lack of… will its risky gamble of changing the state’s leadership, just ahead of elections, result in a calculated advantage or in a short term (possibly longer term) loss of faith in the party among the Telugu people of both Telangana and Andhra? In the latest news from the BJP, the party seeks to counter conspiracy theories that it has a tacit understanding with the BRS party, by announcing that it plans to field its strongest Telangana leaders against chief minister and BRS leader, Chandrasekar Rao and his family.

ED Seizes 15 Properties Linked DMK MP A Raja In Benami Case

On Tuesday, (10 October 2023), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took control of 15 different immovable properties owned by the former Union Minister and currently a DMK MP, A Raja.

The ED has disclosed that these 15 properties, which were indirectly owned by Raja, were in fact held through his Benami company, M/s Kovai Shelters Promoters India Pvt Ltd. This action was taken by the ED under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, as part of a disproportionate assets case.

In December 2022, the ED had temporarily attached 45 acres of land in Coimbatore belonging to A Raja’s company, again under the provisions of the PMLA. This land, valued at approximately ₹55 crores, had allegedly been purchased with bribe money from a major Gurugram-based real estate company in exchange for environmental clearance when Raja held the position of Minister for Environment and Forest during the UPA government in 2007, according to reports. Notably, this land was also registered under the name of Kovai Shelters Promoters India Pvt Ltd.

The said benami company was established in the same year and was officially registered in the names of Raja’s family members, according to the ED. However, the ED had previously indicated that the primary purpose of this company was to conceal the proceeds of A Raja’s alleged criminal activities.

It’s worth noting that A Raja, a DMK MP and former Union Minister, was recently in news for equating Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) with AIDS, leprosy, etc.
