Muslim Girls Demand Namaz Space At Christian College After Mosque Denies Entry, Students Gherao Principal For Refusing, Leftist Media Which Went Bonkers Over Sabarimala Silent

A controversy arose when a Catholic Church-run college in Muvattupuzha, Kerala, refused to provide space on campus for Muslim students to offer namaz, a decision supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

On Friday, Father Kannadan Francis, the principal of Nirmala College, received a complaint about a group of Muslim female students using the college’s common room for namaz.

When objections were raised, the Muslim students requested a designated room for namaz, but the college also declined this request.

The situation escalated when other Muslim students joined in, allegedly surrounding Father Francis.

He explained that there is a mosque just 200 meters from the college, where boys are allowed to pray at noon, but the girls claimed they were not permitted to use the mosque.

However, Kevin Peter from the Church’s Auxiliary for Social Actions (CASA) noted that another mosque nearby permitted women to pray.

We have informed them that the college cannot provide a room for prayers,” Father Francis was quoted saying, noting that the students making the request were not affiliated with any specific student organization.

BJP state president K Surendran labelled the demanding students as “extremist elements” and criticized the INDI Alliance, including the Left and Congress, for supporting the demand.

Do Muslim-managed colleges provide prayer spaces for students of other religions? If Muslim groups cause trouble in colleges, BJP will offer protection,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the ruling CPI(M), clarified that it stands for secularism and does not support the demand for religious practices on campus.

Many on social media called out the double standards of leftist media like The News Minute which went hammer and tongs over Sabarimala Temple not allowing women of menstrual age to enter the temple. None of them have even care to report on the incident.

Where are the feminists? They were doing overtime to get into Garbh Griha of Sabrimala temple in the same Kerala, calling Hinduism regressive full of patriarchy. Won’t they fight for these MusIim girls? Won’t they protest against mosques?“, a user asked on social media.

Syro-Malabar Church Slams Students

The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Syro-Malabar Church has labeled the actions taken by some students against Nirmala College in Muvattupuzha, Kerala, as a “serious” issue.

In a statement on Sunday, Bishop Thomas Tharayil, convener of the PAC, expressed concern over what he described as a systematic and deliberate effort against Christian minority institutions. The recent events at Nirmala College are part of a broader religious and communal “invasion” on such institutions, the statement continued. Bishop Tharayil asserted that any attempts to destabilize Christian minority institutions would be met with a strong response.

Nirmala College has a history of maintaining high academic standards, but the recent developments threaten to disrupt its operations and academic activities. A group of students has staged a sit-in outside the Principal’s office, demanding a room for a specific religious group to offer prayers. This demand lacks both legal and moral justification and is intended to create discord on the college campus.

“Kedi Modi”: DMK MP Dayanidhi Says “Modi Gave More To Nitish & Screwed Naidu”, Dehumanizes TN BJP Chief As “Aatukutty”, Implies Modi Did Roadshow In T. Nagar Because Brahmins Live There

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) organized protests across Tamil Nadu on 27 July 2024, accusing the Union Budget 2024 of neglecting the state. DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran led the protests in Chennai. He claimed the budget discriminated against Tamil Nadu and that the central government had overlooked the state’s needs. The protests were held at various district headquarters across the state.

Dayanidhi Maran has once again stoked controversy for mocking Prime Minister Modi. He started by quoting PM Modi, who spoke about Tamil pride and expressed his love for Tamil language during the campaign for Lok Sabha elections 2024 back in April. He said, “The one who had stated that he would like to be reborn as a Tamilian in his next birth and one who spoke Tamil, who said it, KD Modi.”

KD is a colloquial term used to address a “Known Depradator” – a repeat offender in the eyes of the law. However, using it to speak about the Prime Minister is nothing short of derogatory.

He further said, “The elections went on for over 45 days. In the final phase, while campaigning in Odisha for the local elections. There is an IAS officer called Pandian, a Tamilian who has been living in Odisha for a long time and has even married an Odisha lady. He is almost an Odisha person himself. He is a very important person for the CM there. Modi says, ‘Can a Tamilian rule Odisha? Can Odisha be in the control of a Tamilian?’ He says he wants to be born as a Tamilian; he will do anything for votes. This is such a bad thing. How can we not condemn this? We will not forget it.”

Speaking about the alliance partners TDP and RJD, he said, “They said they will get 400+ seats, but they got only 240, so they need the help of 2 giants – Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar. Was he (Modi) justified in his actions? He gave ₹35000 crores to Nitish Kumar for flood relief. Bihar is a Hindi-speaking state, so he gave that amount. Do you know how he screwed Naidu? He gave him ₹16000 crores – that too, how do you know? He asked Naidu to take it as a loan, which would be given a loan guarantee by the union government. He has to pay both the principal and the interest. That is how Modi screwed Naidu. Very soon, Naidu will screw Modi, and this government will fall. This is the truth. This Modi government always gives more and more to the Hindi-speaking states only. Non-Hindi speaking states are being avenged by the Modi government.”

He said, “I told him to take lessons from our CM, Dravidian CM, MK Stalin. When Stalin became the Chief Minister, he said, ‘I will work not only for the people who voted for me but also for the people who did not vote for me; it is my duty.’ Shouldn’t you (Modi) also do the same? If you come here and talk about caste and religion, will we accept you? They always speak about Thirukkural.”

Jumping on to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he said, “The one who reads the budget, every single time, this Nirmala is there no, she always quotes a Thirukkural. This time, she neither quoted a Kural nor Tamil or Tamil Nadu. When they did not get votes from here (TN), they did this. I don’t know where this lady Nirmala Sitharaman studied on this earth. She created a new “East“. She says Bihar is East, Andhra Pradesh is East, and others are not. West Bengal is not East for her, nor is Odisha. Even though Andhra is only a short distance from here, it is east, and we are not. This is cheating. Nirmala Sitharaman has created a new earth.”

He further said, “I asked her, what is this, madam? Why are you saying this? Who elected you? She is not an elected member but a nominated member. So, she is not worried about the problems faced by the people.”

Recalling the floods of 2023 in TN, he said, “When the state was affected by the floods last year, it was a never-before-seen type of flood. The rains hit Thoothukudi in January 2024 after affecting Chennai in December 2023. It was an unprecedented flood. We asked them ₹35,000 crores; they gave us only ₹257 crores. They gave us peanuts and asked us to pick it up. But Bihar got ₹35,000 crores. Last year, Gujarat faced floods. They gave ₹1000 crores the next day without even being asked. Our CM is so great, he said he will ‘save the people whether you give us the money or not‘.

Next, he spoke about Modi’s roadshows. He said, “He (Modi) came for roadshows in Chennai, right? Where did he go? To his favourite place, West Mambalam. Tell me why he went there.” At this point, the audience replied, “Ava (Brahmins) live there.”

In April 2024, at the height of the election campaigning, Maran called Modi’s roadshows “a circus.”

He claimed the local people covered up the Thiruvika Housing society where the poor lived so that Modi would not see it. He continued, “So what if he sees, even if our people are poor, we earn and have self-respect? We do not beg. Next, he went to Coimbatore for another roadshow, he went to all his favourite places. There is a joker, what is his name? “Aatukutty” (lamb) (referring to the derogatory name given to Annamalai by Dravidianists). He went there for the lamb’s sake. Both Chennai and Coimbatore got “naamam” (a derogatory representation of the Vaishnavite mark on the forehead connected to cheating.

It is noteworthy that when interviewed by journalists during the election campaign, Maran addressed TN BJP chief K Annamalai as a joker and pretended not to have heard of him.

Immediately, he jumped on the topic of Metro Rail. He said, “They did not give even a single rupee for the Metro Rail project. It has been in process for three years. You know what our CM said: I don’t care whether you give us the funds or not; we will take care of the Metro Rail project funds. The TN government has allocated funds in the budget for the Metro Rail, and the second phase is in progress.”

It is noteworthy that the state government has proposed the second phase of the Metro Rail project in Chennai. According to the proposal, the state has to bear the expenses, but the centre agreed to participate in the project. In 2021, the Centre announced a budget allocation of 63000 crores

Taking his tirade a step further, he said, “They feel pain only when it hurts them (avaal) but not when it hurts us. Tamilians have elephant-like memory. If anyone tries to avenge/cheat us like this, we will not forget it and teach you a lesson.”

He alleged that the central government was copying the schemes of the Dravidian government, especially the Skill Development Programme announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the budget for this year. He stated that Stalin had already implemented this through the “Naan Mudhalvan” Scheme, where 15 lakh students per year can upskill and find jobs. But he said the Union government is doing this for 20 lakh students. He said, “They are not interested in bringing any good schemes, just lip service.”

He also alleged that the central government copied the Thozhi women’s hostel programme. According to data from August 2021, when the Ministry of Women and Child Development released the first instalment to the State government of TN for the construction of a hostel building for working women with a daycare centre by the Tamil Nadu Working Women Hostel Corporation Limited (TNWWHCL) in Tambaram District, TN. The document states the central government sanctioned a non-recurring grant of ₹7,00,50,000 (seven crore fifty thousand) as the central government’s share for the construction. It further states that the grant for the construction of the hostel building represents 60% of the total approved cost of ₹11.67,50,000 (eleven crore sixty-seven lakh and fifty thousand rupees). The first instalment of this amount was a sum of ₹3,50,25,000 (three crores fifty lakh and 25 thousand rupees) (50% central govt share) for the construction of the building. The document also states that the Working Women Hostel is a sub-scheme of the Centrally Sponsored Umbrella Scheme “Mission for Protection & Empowerment for Women”. The central and state govt contribution has been calculated as a 60:40 ratio.

Once again, he went back to the topic of Thoothukudi floods. He said (in a disrespectful manner), “When the floods came, Nirmala Sitharaman came (vandhichu). She then went to a temple; she did not go anywhere else. What did she do there? She heard about a temple wall collapsing, and at that time, when a devotee went to put money in the hundial, she said not to put it there; it would go to the government. So put it in the aarti plate. See her twisted mind. Can I tell the people not to pay taxes because our money goes to Delhi? Won’t that be cheap? A Union Finance Minister behaves so cheaply. That is because the people have not elected her, so she does not understand the pain/suffering of the people.”

He then started praising CM Stalin for boycotting NITI Aayog. He claimed that Tamil Nadu was the best state in terms of profession, education, and poverty eradication and that the state also had the best CM.

Then he started focusing on caste and invoked EV Ramasamy, he said, “We ask you to educate everyone, the people there (North) do not study and come here for work. I am not demeaning anyone. No one is high or low based on their caste. But you are asking people to do their ancestral profession – Vishwakarma. Are you doing it? You all will study at IITs and become accomplished people, but you want cobblers, barbers, and farmers to continue their ancestral profession. You want us to be your slaves? No, we won’t. This is Periyar’s land, Anna’s land, Karunanidhi’s land, and Stalin’s land, here we will study, we will ask questions, and become the best citizens of the country. Only if TN is strong will India be strong. If you try to weaken us, we (states like TN) are your backbone, do not cheat us, avenge us, we are not ready to get cheated, but we will not shy away from giving a befitting reply.”

It is interesting that, unlike other Dravidianists, Maran did not speak in secessionist language, stating TN was not a part of India.

This is not the first time Dayanidhi Maran has spoken in such a fashion against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Dayanidhi Maran has made very casteist jibes against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He used words like “Unga thopanaar” to indicate Sitharaman’s father (in a language/dialect used by Brahmins in TN) when speaking in Parliament in February 2024 about the central government aid to TN for the floods.

Earlier in 2023, he addressed Sitharaman as “Nirmala mami” during a “day-long” fast against NEET and then pretended to have said it inadvertently. The word Mami is used as a slur and in a derogatory fashion, especially by Dravidian ideologues when addressing Tamil Brahmin women in Tamil Nadu. It is noteworthy that Dayanidhi Maran is himself married to a Tamil Brahmin from The Hindu family, and his mother, wife of Murasoli Maran, the father of Dayanidhi Maran and nephew of M Karunanidhi was also a Tamil Brahmin woman.

Illegal Mining From TN Temple Lands Leads To ₹198 Cr Loss, Madras HC Orders To Take Action Against Errant Officials, Dravidianist Media Silent

Consider Leasing Temple Land To Tsunami Families : Madras HC
Consider Leasing Temple Land To Tsunami Families : Madras HC

On 26 July 2024, the Madras High Court resumed its hearings regarding illegal mining of minerals worth hundreds of crores from temple lands. Specifically, granite stones valued at ₹28.51 crore have been illegally removed from the Hanumantharaya Swamy temple land in Nagamangalam, Denkanikottai, while stones worth ₹170.14 crore have been extracted from the Pattalamman temple land in Krishnagiri Baleguli.

The court has mandated a detailed report on the illicit extraction activities affecting both temple and other lands in the Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Salem Range has been instructed to present this report in court, outlining the actions taken to address the issue.

The judge had previously issued this directive during a hearing on 19th July. At that time, the DIG submitted a report detailing the steps already undertaken.

Representatives for the government included Additional Advocate General Ravindran, Principal Criminal Prosecutor Hasan Muhammad Jinnah, and Additional Criminal Prosecutor Muniyapparaj, while Special Pleader Arun Natarajan represented the HR&CE department.

The judge expressed serious concern about the misappropriation of resources, emphasizing that government officials, who are paid with public funds, must act with integrity. The court directed that the Assistant Director of Mineral Resources provide the DIG of Salem Range with details of all licenses issued within one week. The DIG is responsible for investigating any illegal mining activities based on this information and taking appropriate criminal and disciplinary action against any implicated officials. Additionally, a coordinated effort among the revenue department, police, and HR&CE department is crucial to address and prevent illegal mineral extraction.

Moreover, the Assistant Director of Mineral Resources is required to assess the financial losses incurred by the government due to these illegal activities and to pursue recovery from those responsible. Cases previously closed without adequate investigation should be reopened and thoroughly examined.

A report on the government’s actions is expected to be submitted. The hearing has been adjourned to 28 August 2024.

Previously, on 19 July 2024 the Madras High Court had ordered the DIG of Police, Salem Range, to provide a report detailing the illegal mining activities on temple lands in Krishnagiri, the criminal cases filed against those involved, and subsequent actions taken. This order followed a contempt of court petition filed by A. Radhakrishnan, a temple activist, who sought action against officials who failed to protect temple properties as per earlier court directives.

Justice SM Subramaniam, who issued the order, expressed deep concern over the illegal mining of resources valued at ₹198.65 crore from lands belonging to two temples in Krishnagiri district. The report from the Assistant Commissioner of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department revealed extensive illegal mining, which the judge described as “shocking the conscience” of the court.

The report detailed that stones worth ₹28.51 crore were illicitly mined from Hanumantharaya Swamy temple land in Nagamangalam, Denkanikottai, and stones valued at ₹170.14 crore were quarried from Arulmigu Pattalamman Temple Baleguli, both in Krishnagiri.

Justice Subramaniam highlighted that HR&CE officials faced significant obstacles from unruly elements, hindering their efforts to protect temple lands. The judge stressed that such lawlessness cannot be tolerated and called for stronger governmental intervention to safeguard national resources from exploitation for personal gain. Consequently, the court summoned the DIG to appear on 26 July 2024 with the required reports.

Political Murders Surge In Dravidian Model Tamil Nadu; 3 Murders In A Single Day

Murders have become alarmingly routine in Tamil Nadu, with three political killings recently occurring across the state. The opposition leaders are outraged, delivering sharp criticism towards the ruling DMK government and demanding the resignation of Chief Minister MK Stalin. Their anger stems from a campaign promise Stalin made before the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where he assured that “Law & Order would be under my direct control. Those who do wrong will be punished.” Since the DMK came to power, Tamil Nadu has experienced a troubling increase in brutal murders, often fueled by caste or political conflicts. These incidents have sparked intense criticism from politicians and the public, arguing that the DMK government has failed to uphold law and order effectively.

BJP Functionary Murdered

On 28 July 2024, unknown men brutally attacked a BJP worker from Velangulam village near Sivaganga. Selvakumar, 53, the Sivaganga district secretary for the BJP cooperative wing, operated a brick kiln in the same area. Yesterday, as he was riding his two-wheeler on the Sivagangai Ilayangudi road, he was ambushed by assailants who attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead before fleeing the scene.

Villagers who discovered Selvakumar’s body lying in a pool of blood were horrified and quickly notified the 108 (ambulance) service and the police. Emergency responders arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. In response to the murder, the villagers became enraged and began blocking the road, causing delays in transporting the body for a post-mortem examination. Police attempted to calm the situation, but the crowd persisted in their protest, demanding the arrest of the perpetrators.

District Superintendent Dongare Pravin Umesh eventually arrived and addressed the protesters. He assured the protestors that his team would work seriously to apprehend the culprits. This promise led the public to disperse.

The police recovered the body and sent it to Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police have opened an investigation into the murder and are actively pursuing leads to identify and arrest those responsible.

AIADMK Functionary Murdered

Unknown men brutally murdered an AIADMK functionary near Puducherry during the early hours of 28 July 2024. Padmanapan, 48, a painter and the president of AIADMK’s 25th Ward in Cuddalore, was attacked while returning from a temple festival at Tiruppanambakkam near Bagur. After attending the Koothu and Karkatam performance on Saturday night, Padmanapan and his friend, Ranga (57), a cultural artist, were riding a motorcycle back to Cuddalore.

As they neared the Irulansandai drinking water tank near Bagur, a car came from behind and collided with their bike, causing them to fall. The occupants of the car then came out, fatally attacked Padmanapan with a knife and left him dead at the scene. Puducherry South Superintendent of Police Bhaktavachalam and Bagur Police Inspector Sajith investigated the scene. They sent Padmanapan’s body to Puducherry Katirkamam Government Hospital for an autopsy. Following an FIR, an extensive investigation into the murder is underway.

Initial findings suggest that the murder may be linked to a previous dispute. In 2023, during a ceremony in Cuddalore, Padmanapan had a conflict with Baskar, who was later attacked and died. Padmanapan and others were arrested and imprisoned in connection with Baskar’s death, but they received bail in November 2023. The police have arrested two suspects in the recent murder and are continuing their investigation.

Congress Functionary Murdered

Jackson, a 38-year-old resident of Kunnathu Vilai in the Thiruvattaru area of Kanyakumari district, was a former president of the Thiruvattaru City Youth Congress and currently ran a tempo traveller. He is married to Usha Kumari, the 10th Ward Congress Councilor for Thiruvattaru Municipality.

On 28 July 2024, Jackson was standing near a church when two motorcycles approached, carrying six individuals. They engaged him in conversation, which quickly escalated into an argument. The group then attacked Jackson with knives they had concealed, seriously injuring him. He fell to the ground, bleeding heavily and screaming in pain. Neighbours who heard his cries rushed to the scene, but the attackers fled swiftly on their motorcycles. Residents attempted to pursue the assailants without success. They took Jackson to Asaripallam Government Hospital for initial treatment and then to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Despite intensive medical efforts, he tragically passed away early this morning.

The murder of the councillor’s husband has shocked the Thiruvattaru community. District Superintendent of Police Sundaravathanam and DSP Udaya Suryan conducted an investigation and discovered that a group led by Rajkumar (32) from the Punnai vilai Vellamcode area were responsible for this murder. The dispute between Rajkumar and Jackson had originated six months ago over an alcohol-related argument, which had previously led both parties to file complaints with the Tiruvattar police. Authorities suspect this past conflict may have motivated the murder.

Usha Kumari has filed a complaint with the Tiruvattar police, stating that Jackson had left on his motorcycle to buy fruit for their children. On his way, he stopped at the St.Antony’s Church near Bharatha Palli to pray. Rajkumar and his five accomplices attacked Jackson after he left the church. Inspector Seethalakshmi and the police have opened a case and are investigating. The police also collected CCTV footage from the area as part of the ongoing investigation.

Other Recent Murders In Tamil Nadu

Let us take a look at the other murders that occurred recently in Tamil Nadu.

Bahujan Samaj Party President Armstrong

Recently, K Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu state unit president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), was brutally murdered on 5 July 2024 evening near Perambur in Chennai. He was attacked by a gang of six assailants while chatting with friends and supporters near his residence. The attackers, armed with machetes and sickles, threatened anyone who tried to intervene, causing Armstrong’s friends to flee. His family rushed to the scene upon hearing his cries, only to find him grievously wounded and lying in a pool of blood. They quickly took him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police are exploring the possibility of a rivalry with a criminal from North Chennai, currently incarcerated, as a motive for the murder. In August 2023, Arcot Suresh and his associate Madhavan were assaulted by a gang near Pattinampakkam in Chennai. During the incident, Arcot Suresh tragically lost his life, while Madhavan survived. Five months later, Madhavan died in another attack by a separate gang. Ponnai Balu, the brother of Arcot Suresh, has been implicated in the murder of BSP leader Thennarsu back in 2015. His other brother, known as bomb Saravanan, is suspected in the murder of Arcot Suresh last year, according to police sources. Currently, Ponnai Balu is accused in the murder case of BSP leader Armstrong. He is the sibling of Arcot Suresh, a notorious criminal who was slain by a rival gang in Chennai the previous year. Chennai police have arrested Arcot Balu, along with seven others, in connection with Armstrong’s murder, a senior police official confirmed. Armstrong, a lawyer, had a troubled past with previous criminal cases, though his legal troubles reportedly ceased a decade ago.

Scheduled Caste Activist Deepak Raja

Deepak Raja (30), a Dalit figure and history-sheeter, was fatally attacked in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, on 20 May 2024 by an unidentified gang of six persons in broad daylight near a restaurant in Palayamkottai’s KTC Nagar. After the gang attacked him, Raja succumbed to his injuries immediately. The Palayamkottai police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under multiple sections of the law, including provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Deepak Raja had a history of several pending cases against him. In response to the incident, City Police Commissioner Pa Moorthy has assembled six specialized teams to apprehend the perpetrators. Police arrested eight individuals in connection with the crime, and efforts are ongoing to locate others involved.

AIADMK Functionary Shanmugam

In the late hours of 3 July 2024, a 62-year-old AIADMK functionary, M Shanmugam, was tragically murdered in Dhadagapatti, Salem. Shanmugam, who served as the AIADMK branch secretary, was attacked while returning home near the Dhagapatty Mariamman temple area. According to police reports, he sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

Following a complaint by Shanmugam’s wife, Parameshwari, the police swiftly arrested DMK Ward 55 councillor Dhanabhagiyam, her husband Sathish, and 12 others in connection with the murder. Initially, Shanmugam’s family members and residents prevented police from moving his body, demanding immediate action against the suspects.

Speaking to the media, Shanmugam’s wife, S Parameshwari, alleged that her husband was targeted due to his efforts against illegal lottery and drug sales in the area. She claimed that Shanmugam had previously filed complaints with the Annadhanapatty police station, seeking action against those involved. Parameshwari accused Sathish and Dhanabhagiyam of involvement in the attack. Later that evening, police arrested a total of 14 individuals, including the couple. To investigate the case thoroughly, Salem Commissioner of Police Vijayakumari has formed five special teams dedicated to uncovering the truth behind Shanmugam’s murder.

Congress Functionary Jeyakumar Dhanasingh

The charred body of KPK Jeyakumar Dhanasingh, the District Congress president of Tirunelveli East, was discovered at his farm on 4 May 2024. His son, Karuthaiah Jafrin, reported him missing to the Uvari police two days earlier, expressing concern about his father’s absence since Thursday.

Jeyakumar’s sudden and mysterious death has sparked widespread shock and outcry throughout Tamil Nadu, prompting leaders from various political parties to demand swift justice for what they described as Jeyakumar’s ‘murder’. Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation to determine whether Jeyakumar’s death was a result of foul play or a tragic suicide.

BJP Functionary Jagan Pandian

In another tragic incident, Jagan Pandian, the Tirunelveli BJP general secretary known for his active participation in public affairs and real estate ventures, was hacked to death near his residence in the Moolikulam area adjacent to Palaiyankottai in the Nellai district.

The unfortunate incident occurred yesterday (30 August 2023) as Jagan Pandian returned home on his two-wheeler after concluding his daily work. After parking his vehicle near his residence, he was standing beside a nearby canal when unidentified assailants attacked him, inflicting fatal injuries before fleeing the scene. Neighbours who rushed to the spot upon hearing Jagan’s cries discovered him lying lifeless in a pool of blood.

The local police arrived at the crime scene, recovered the body, and dispatched it to the Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Following an FIR, investigators began reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity. They also brought a sniffer dog named Barani to aid the investigation. Over a hundred police personnel ensured security while officials launched a comprehensive probe into the incident.

Class 12 Answer Sheet Tampering Scam In TN; 9 Arrested

The Urgent Need For Decolonizing Indian Education

In a significant development in what is suspected to be a large-scale scam involving Class 12 public exams in Tamil Nadu, a CB-CID team arrested nine individuals, including four government employees, in Madurai on 25 July 2024. The arrests were made for allegedly altering the answer sheets of two Class 12 students in three subjects during the 2023 board exams.

According to sources from the CB-CID, those arrested include superintendent Rama Prabakaran and junior assistant Kannan from the Madurai District Education Officer (Elementary) office; Paramasivan, a government schoolteacher from Melur; Karthick Raja, a lab assistant at Kottampatti government school; the parents of the two students, and one of the students involved. Authorities are still searching for the second student, who is currently on the run. Both students attended a private school in Madurai city.

The malpractice came to light in 2023 when an exam official noticed that the answer sheets of the two students had similar handwriting during a super check. Further investigation revealed the same handwriting across answer sheets for mathematics, physics, and chemistry.

The school education department responded by issuing memos to the students, questioning why they should not be barred for five years due to the malpractice. Their mark sheets were also withheld. Initially, the students maintained that their answer sheets were genuine but later retracted their statements.

One of the parents took the matter to the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, seeking to quash the memo and compel the department to issue the mark sheet to his son. The court directed Tallakulam police to register a formal case based on a complaint from the joint director (higher secondary), which was later transferred to the CB-CID in November 2023. Another parent filed a similar petition, but the court dismissed it.

During the investigation, police discovered that Kannan and Prabakaran, with assistance from Paramasivan and Karthick Raja, had replaced the students’ answer sheets for a payment of ₹1 lakh per paper. Handwriting analysis revealed that one of the four government staff members’ handwriting matched that on the answer sheets. The answer sheets have been sent for further analysis, sources said to TNIE.

Kerala ‘Vlogger’ Jinna Assaulted By TN Women Over Obscene Social Media Posts

A vlogger was attacked by a group of women from Tamil Nadu in Palakkad on 26 July 2024 for allegedly posting obscene videos and making derogatory comments against women in a WhatsApp group. The incident occurred within the Agali police station limits when a group of women from various parts of Tamil Nadu confronted the vlogger, Mohamadali alias Jinna, 39, a native of Kottathara Chantakada.

Jinna, who runs a textile shop in Agali, was confronted by around 15 women who questioned him about his actions on social media. According to the police, the women claimed that Jinna had posted obscene photos and comments in a women’s group on WhatsApp as well as Instagram.

It is alleged that he has an Instagram handle, Romantic Jinna, where he posts such photos and videos of women without their permission.

The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation. As per the complaint, TOI reported that Jinna allegedly tore women’s clothes during the scuffle, prompting them to tie his hands and assault him. Agali police registered cases against both parties based on their complaints.

The women accused him of morphing and circulating obscene pictures of many women through social media platforms such as Instagram. The group, consisting of individuals from Thoothukudi, Salem, Tirupur, Trichy, Hosur, and Dharmapuri, travelled to Palakkad to confront Jinna.

Police arrived at the scene while Jinna was still tied up and being beaten. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Cases have been registered against him for insulting women and against the 13 women based on his complaint.

TNM’s Devasahayam Article On RSS Ban Removal Is A Venom-Spewing Tirade Against The Organisation

The News Minute has been spreading propaganda by publishing former IAS officer Devasahayam’s misleading critique of the NDA government’s decision to lift a 58-year ban on government employees participating in RSS activities. Devasahayam falsely links the RSS to Gandhi’s assassination, distorting historical facts and ignoring the organization’s positive contributions.

The outlet’s uncritical amplification of his baseless claims undermines journalistic integrity and contributes to misinformation.

The Modi-led NDA government at the centre lifted a 58-year ban on government employees participating in activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). This move sparked a political controversy. The ban was issued 58 years ago, in 1966, whereby government employees were forbidden from taking part in the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The ban was imposed because, on 7 November 1966, there was a massive anti-cow-slaughter protest at the Parliament. RSS-Jana Sangh mobilised support in huge numbers and many people died in police firing. On 30 Nov 1966, shaken by the RSS-Jana Sangh clout, Indira Gandhi banned government staff from joining the RSS.

The leftist mouthpiece, The News Minute, came up with a tirade of an article on their portal written by former IAS officer and now a self-styled ‘activist’ and a ‘devout Christian‘ Devasahayam.

Very conveniently, he uses this news to once again peddle the propaganda that RSS killed Mahatma Gandhi. He wrote, The RSS was initially declared an unlawful organisation in 1948 due to concerns over its activities after a member, Nathuram Godse, assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the then Union Home Minister who imposed the ban, wrote to RSS Chief MS Golwalkar on 11 September 1948.

He then quotes the letter Patel wrote to Golwalkar linking it to another leftist rag, The Caravan. He quotes Patel as having written, Organising Hindus and helping them is one thing but going in for revenge for its sufferings on innocent and helpless men, women and children is quite another thing… All their speeches were full of communal poison. It was not necessary to spread poison in order to enthuse the Hindus organize for their protection… As a final result of the poison, the country had to suffer the sacrifice of the valuable life of Gandhiji. Even an iota of the sympathy of the Government, or of the people, no more remained for the RSS. In fact, opposition grew. Opposition turned more severe, when the RSS men expressed joy and distributed sweets after Gandhiji’s death. Under these conditions, it became inevitable for the Government to take action against the RSS…”

Calling the present governmentcommunal and anti-secular“, he claims they lifted the ban to allow government servants to take part in the activities of the RSS. He also quotes the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, clause 5, to understand what it says about government servants participating in politics. Well, Devasagam has probably wantonly overlooked the fact that RSS is not a political organization but a volunteer organization. He calls the government’s interpretation of the rulesunconstitutional“. He also goes on to claim that, The truth is that the BJP, which is ruling the country and many states, is the political wing of the RSS.”

Devasahayam then shares a Venn diagram that describes theHindutva Family of Hate“. Well, Devasagayam is pouring hate in the form of the article he wrote. He calls the RSS gargantuan in size and that its octopus-like tentacles can be seen from the Venn diagram.

The Venn diagram shows the “Hindutva Family of Hate” to consist of the VHP, ABVP, BJP, and Sewa Bharathi. Interestingly, the ‘devout Christian’ activist alleges that Sewa Bharathi International and the US-based IDR often use humanitarian crises in India to raise funds and then allegedlydivert donations to Hindutva projects like missionary efforts (ghar wapsi)“.

Source: Reddit

Then he goes on ranting about the history of the Janata Party, how and why the BJP was formed, and claims that the BJP existed because the Janata Party raised the issue of dual membership as it did. He continues claiming that RSS is a political entity that is an integral part of the governance system and that it has beenmade to grow colossal and like the carnivorous Madagascar Tree is sucking out and draining all democratic institutions that are fast losing their strength and vibrancy.”

He further goes on to claim that the RSS’s influence wasdetrimental to democratic institutionsand could potentially make RSS membership a qualification for government service.

He quotes a report from The Print, which allegedly indicates that an RSS-backed IAS institute, Samkalp Foundation, has been groomingnationalistcivil servants since 1986, boasting a high success rate in the UPSC exams, especiallyat a time when minority institutes like Jamia and Zakat Foundation are in the middle of a row over the rising number of Muslims cracking the Civil Services Examination”. He also claims that the IAS Academy at Mussoorie also allegedly shows shades of an RSS shakha!

What Devasahayam Did Not Bother To Mention Or Understand About RSS

Devasahayam, in his lengthy tirade, only spewed venom against the RSS for allegedly being a political outfit, for influencing the IAS cadre, for grooming civil servants, etc. He also conveniently peddles the Godse-RSS connection to MK Gandhi’s killing. For the well-read, it is clear how much the RSS wasinvolvedin the act. Godse had left the RSS and had joined the Hindu Mahasabha, a political entity that was sworn to protect the interest of Hindus amidst the partition of India. He had become disillusioned with the RSS for not being “radical enough”. It was an act of the individual and not of the organization.

If that’s the case, can we blame Congress as a party of mass murderers because its workers targeted innocent Chitpavan Brahmins and Sikhs after Gandhi’s murder and Indira Gandhi’s assassination, respectively?

Devasagayam also failed to read about how ministers in the Nehruvian cabinet turned to the RSS for help during the 1948 violence. A recently discovered letter from 1947 reveals that India’s then-Defence Minister sought help from the RSS to rescue 20,000 women in Lahore amidst the chaos of partition. The letter, written by Defence Minister Sardar Baldev Singh to Home Minister Sardar Patel, highlighted the urgent need for assistance as Hindu and Sikh communities faced widespread violence and abductions. Singh recommended utilizing RSS resources and proposed appointing rescue officers with police and military support to aid in the operations. The letter also suggested using local informants, including those willing to adopt Islam, to gather intelligence.

Nehru, who was typically critical of the RSS, occasionally praised the Sangh Parivar, especially when Pakistan attacked Jammu and Kashmir shortly after independence, and Sangh volunteers went to assist.

While Devasahayam mentioned that Sardar Patel banned the RSS, he never mentions in the article that Patel lifted the ban on the RSS approximately 18 months later.

Babasaheb Dr Ambedkar had an election agent who was an RSS worker – Shri. Dattopant Thengadi. In 1952, Ambedkar’s Scheduled Caste Federation allied with Bharatiya Jansangh for the Madhya Pradesh elections. Ambedkar’s first formal interaction with the RSS was in 1935 at their Maharashtra training camp in Pune, and he visited an RSS shakha in Dapoli. In 1939, he attended another RSS training camp in Pune and met RSS founder Dr K.B. Hedgewar, who was impressed by the lack of caste discrimination among the volunteers.

In September 1949, RSS chief M.S. Golwalkar thanked Ambedkar in Delhi for helping lift the ban on the RSS, which had been imposed after Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. In June 1953, senior RSS leaders met Ambedkar in Aurangabad, where he requested more information about the RSS’s outreach activities.

The RSS had already been active in aiding those trapped in Pakistan, organizing transport and security for evacuations. The bookNow It Can Be Toldby AN Bali details these efforts. Congress leaders in Punjab also sought RSS help to protect their families. Home Minister Patel later acknowledged the RSS’s crucial role in safeguarding Hindu society during these tumultuous times.

He bundles up other Hindu organizations, such as the VHP, ABVP, and Sewa Bharathi, as part of the Hindutva Hate Family. He calls Sewa Bharathi’s work of ghar wapsi asmissionarywork. So, does he acknowledge that missionary work involves illegal religious conversion?

His allegations that Sewa Bharathi raises money in the name of crises in India are unfounded. It shows how ignorant he is about the organization itself. If raising funds from Hindus abroad is not okay, then NGOs showing poverty porn to their financers inside and outside the country (especially Church-linked missionary organizations) is also illegal? Will Devasahayam concede to this fact?

With the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh on its way to completing 100 glorious years, allegations such as these do hardly any harm to people who know how much the organization has impacted the people at the grassroots level.

The fact that RSS remains the most democratic and rooted organization is evident from how Mohan Bhagwat views the Congress.

While the BJP calls for ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ (Congress-free India), the Sarsanghchalak said “It is not the language of the RSS. The word ‘mukt’ (free or liberated) is used in politics. We never use the language of excluding anyone.“, despite the continuous tirade and hate spewed by Rahul Gandhi about RSS.

The hate for RSS that stems from people like Devasahayam doesn’t arise from their concern for secularism but because the Sangh fights the menace of religious proselytization tooth and nail.

Congress MLA E.V.K.S. Elangovan Says, “Congress Didn’t Contribute To Lok Sabha Victory; It Was The DMK’s Effort That Led To Our Win”

Former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) state president E.V.K.S. Elangovan has sparked controversy by accusing Sivaganga Congress MP Karti Chidambaram of being self-serving and critical of the alliance after securing his election victory.

In a recent interview with ABP Nadu, Elangovan, the MLA for Erode East Assembly constituency, remarked that Karti Chidambaram’s desire for a cabinet position reveals his selfishness. According to him, being part of the DMK alliance extends beyond just winning elections; it involves working together to counteract forces like the BJP and Modi, who seek to “divide the nation.” Elangovan argued that voicing dissent against the coalition is inappropriate given these broader objectives.

Elangovan further highlighted that during the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress made no significant contribution to the campaign effort, with the DMK being the sole force driving the victory. He contended that any criticism of the coalition in this context is unjustified. Elangovan stressed that, “In the Lok Sabha elections, no one from the Congress worked, only the DMK worked. We won because of the DMK. In this case, such talk is wrong.

The INDI Alliance secured all constituencies in Tamil Nadu, with the DMK playing a crucial role in this success. Elangovan noted the strong camaraderie between DMK President M.K. Stalin and Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who share a common goal of opposing fascist and sectarian forces. He stressed that maintaining support for this alliance is vital and that personal opinions that undermine it are unacceptable.

Elangovan also mentioned that despite Chidambaram’s affluent background, no matter how prominent an individual may be, erroneous opinions should not be tolerated.

E.V.K.S. Elangovan’s criticism comes in response to Congress MP Karti Chidambaram’s recent comments on 20 July 2024, regarding the party’s performance in Tamil Nadu. Karti Chidambaram expressed concerns about the Congress party’s diminishing visibility and relevance in the state, emphasizing the need for corrective actions to address public issues and regain influence.

Karti Chidambaram, the MP for Sivaganga, noted that while other allies in the DMK-led coalition are actively asserting their positions, Congress has been hesitant to do the same. Although he commended the DMK government’s policies, he stressed that Congress must address pressing issues like quotation killings, police encounters, and electricity tariff hikes in Tamil Nadu, similar to the efforts of other alliance partners such as the VCK and CPI(M).

He argued that only by confronting these issues would the public pay attention to Congress again. Chidambaram also questioned the lack of action from Congress regarding the murder of Jayakumar Dhanasingh, the party’s Tirunelveli East district president, noting the absence of arrests and the party’s failure to demand answers.

Chidambaram pointed out that Congress is currently neither in power nor a strong opposition in Tamil Nadu, which has led to perceptions that the party lacks significance. He rejected the notion that Congress’s role is diminished solely because of its alliance with the DMK, asserting that while the party’s vote share in Tamil Nadu may not be large, it remains crucial to the alliance’s success. He emphasized that minorities in Tamil Nadu support the alliance with Congress, and that Congress’s position influences their votes.

“Congress adds value to the alliance,” Chidambaram said, noting that voters seeking to reject the BJP at both the state and national levels often look to Congress’s stance for guidance.

Earlier, TNCC President Selvaperunthagai met with a same fate at the state general committee meeting on 11 June 2024, by questioning the party’s ongoing reliance on allies. He urged the Congress to achieve self-reliance and reflect on its historical strength, challenging the party’s dependency on coalition partners.

Selvaperunthagai’s comments came in the wake of the 2024 Lok Sabha election results, where the AIADMK-led coalition faced a crushing defeat, while the Congress, despite winning all contested constituencies, saw its performance overshadowed by the BJP’s improved vote share. The victory was widely attributed to support from the DMK, which led Selvaperunthagai to question the party’s future if it continues to rely on others.

During the meeting, Selvaperunthagai asked, “How long will we depend on others? The Congress has a rich history and a unique ideology that other parties lack. The Congress must strive for independent growth rather than constantly depending on alliances.” His remarks sparked significant discussion within the party, highlighting the need for greater self-reliance and internal strength.

In response, former Congress leader and current Erode MLA EVKS Elangovan defended the alliance, emphasizing the crucial role of the DMK in the Congress’s success. He cautioned against allowing ambition to become greed, stressing that the focus should remain on defeating political adversaries rather than purely on achieving victory. Elangovan underscored that the success in Tamil Nadu was largely due to the support from DMK and its leader, Stalin, and warned against undermining this collaboration.

Earlier, in May 2024, Selvaperunthagai had similarly criticized the party’s dependence on other entities for electoral success and advocated for the Congress to reclaim its influential role, reminiscent of its past prominence. His comments have created ripples within the I.N.D.I Alliance in Tamil Nadu, prompting an internal reflection on the party’s strategic direction and alliances.

“Pa Ranjith Is Untrustworthy,” Says VCK Deputy General Secretary Vanni Arasu, Accusing Him Of Ingratitude Despite VCK’s Help In Releasing ‘Madras’ Film”

The assassination of K. Armstrong, the state president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, on 5 July 2024, sent shockwaves throughout Tamil Nadu, particularly within the Scheduled Caste community. This incident led to severe criticism directed at the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party for their failure to condemn the DMK, given their alliance.

In this context, Kollywood film director Pa. Ranjith, who had previously supported Dravidian ideology, withdrew his support and criticized the DMK government. Meanwhile, VCK leader Thirumavalavan claimed that their response to Armstrong’s assassination should be unique to their party and that there was no need for collaboration with others. He also noted that the VCK had not sought the support of any movements opposing the DMK.

On 20 July 2024, Thirumavalavan addressed his Facebook followers live, accusing politically naive individuals who are paid to speak on social media of exploiting Armstrong’s murder to spread false accusations against the VCK rather than targeting the DMK. He advised his party members to avoid participating in events where such forces might contribute to the ongoing defamation of the VCK.

This sparked immediate backlash, with many believing Thirumavalavan was referring to the ‘March for Justice‘, rally organized by Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Cultural Centre, scheduled for 21 July 2024. The heated exchange between Thirumavalavan and Pa. Ranjith escalated into a war of words, with Pa. Ranjith responding to the criticisms on July 21, and tensions have remained high ever since.

In this context, Vanni Arasu, Deputy General Secretary of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), recently criticized Kollywood film director Pa. Ranjith in an interview, making several allegations against him and labeling the rally he organized a failure.

Arasu stated that Ranjith’s intention to hold the rally might have been genuine, but the objective was flawed. He accused Ranjith of aiming to prevent the VCK chief from participating and claimed that Ranjith exploited Armstrong’s assassination for personal gain. Arasu further criticized Ranjith for focusing solely on the DMK despite the involvement of BJP, AIADMK, and TMC cadres, who were officially dismissed from their parties. Arasu questioned what role the DMK had played in the situation.

He also pointed out that Ranjith did not reach out to anyone for support, yet still criticized those who did not attend, implying that Ranjith’s objective was misguided. He then questioned Ranjith’s trustworthiness, citing an instance of Ranjith’s forgetfulness regarding past help. Vanni Arasu recounted that after completing the film ‘Attakathi’, Ranjith’s next project, ‘Madras’, under Green Studios, faced a setback when another production claimed ownership of the story. Ranjith sought assistance to resolve the issue, and Arasu helped him out. Despite this, Arasu noted that Ranjith has never expressed any gratitude for the support provided.

Vanni Arasu explained, “After finishing Attakathi, he was working on the film Madras, the film was produced by Green Studios Gnanavel Raja. The film was gearing up for release, but immediately a lawsuit was filed. They went to court stating that the story belonged to Gopi Nainar and Karuppar Nagaram was the title, and thus should be stayed,” He continued, “I’m sharing this for the first time, I didn’t say this anywhere, my friend Madipakkam Vetriselvan, who was also murdered, called him (Ranjith) to meet me at Le Meridien hotel, we sat and discussed that the situation was like this. The Karuppar Nagaram’s producer Balu was Tirunelveli Valiyoor, Veerakumar’s own brother, who (Veerakumar) is my best friend, he (Balu) was the one who produced the film, and he said that the movie was half completed and the story was his, hence they initiated a case. He (Vetriselvan) came to me and said that he (Ranjith) has completed the film so ask them (Balu) to withdraw the case and everyone says the career of him (Ranjith) is based on the film.

I then reached out to the film’s producer, suggesting they resolve the issue by withdrawing the lawsuit. The producer mentioned that they would consider dropping the case if Ranjith could cover the expenses already incurred. However, when I relayed this to Ranjith/Veera Kumar, he responded that Gnanavel Raja would say that ‘Are you planning to extract money from me by initiating a a lawsuit through your community.‘ Hence, I decided to let it go to avoid this type of further complications.

As a result, I faced severe criticism from the South, even though Ranjith’s career depended on the help I provided. Despite my support, Ranjith never contacted me or acknowledged my role when the movie was released. He didn’t even maintain the relationship afterward. While we have continued to stay in touch with many others whom we’ve helped, Ranjith only reached out when he needed something and then disconnected us once we were no longer in need. This is why I consider him untrustworthy.“, he said.

Then, Vanni Arasu deriding Pa. Ranjith, declared that Ranjith’s rally was a failure. He questioned, “Did Armstrong’s family attend? Did his wife come? Even the BSP did not participate significantly; even they did not like it and did not trust you.” Arasu continued, “The rally should have been a success, but it is a failure. the rally was held with an intention that no one should make that rally very successful, does a rally with a mere 1000-1500 people become a successful rally?”

Vanni Arasu ultimately criticized Pa. Ranjith, accusing him of falsely claiming that they had mobilized Chennai, while in reality, no other protests occurred across Tamil Nadu except those organized by the VCK. Arasu alleged that Ranjith used the rally merely to attack the DMK, positioning himself as a mouthpiece for anti-DMK interests.

Madras High Court Dismisses Lawyer’s Petition For Brothel Protection, Imposes Fine, Questions His Credentials

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court recently expressed shock after a petitioner, claiming to be a practising lawyer, filed a plea seeking protection to run a brothel in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district. Advocate Raja Murrugan sought to quash the FIR lodged against him, arguing that his actions were based on adult consensual sex rights. The court, however, dismissed his petition and imposed a fine of ₹10,000.

The bench, led by Justice B Pugalendhi, strongly disapproved of Murrugan’s defense, citing that he had misunderstood the context of the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Budhadev case, which aimed to prevent trafficking and ensure the rehabilitation of sex workers. The court emphasized that running a brothel remains unlawful despite voluntary sex work not being illegal.

In his petition, Murrugan disclosed that his trust offered services such as consensual sex between adults, counselling, and therapeutic oil baths for individuals over 18. He argued that the police crackdown was against a Supreme Court order. However, the court clarified that the Supreme Court’s order was intended to create conditions for sex workers to continue their work with dignity or seek rehabilitation, not to protect brothels.

The Additional Public Prosecutor informed the court that Murrugan, a B-Tech graduate, holds a Bar Council Identity with an enrollment number. Still, they were unable to verify his law degree. The court demanded Murrugan present his enrollment certificate and law degree to verify his legal education and bar association membership.

The court also criticized the Bar Council for allowing graduates from unreputed law colleges to practice, stating that the reputation of advocates is declining. Justice Pugalendhi urged the Bar Council to ensure that only graduates from reputable institutions are enrolled as advocates.

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court dismissed Murrugan’s request for protection to run a brothel and ordered the trial court to complete the trial within six months. The Bar Council was directed to verify the genuineness of Murrugan’s law certificates and take appropriate action.
