BJP Seeks Governor’s Approval To Prosecute Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin For Derogatory Remarks

BJP Seeks Governor's Approval To Prosecute Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin For Derogatory Remarks

On 24 October 2024, Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary A Ashvathaman formally requested permission from Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi to initiate criminal proceedings against Chief Minister MK Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. In a letter submitted to the Governor, he contends that their derogatory remarks about the governor violate laws on public order and the respect owed to constitutional offices, referencing specific sections of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Ashvathaman, via his X official account, stated that he “Met the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri R.N Ravi ji (@rajbhavan_tn) requesting Sanction permission under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Section 218 to initiate the Criminal Proceedings against the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K. Stalin (@mkstalin) and the Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin (@Udhaystalin).

The correspondence addressed to the Governor sated, “I am inclined to request you for Sanctioning permission under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Section 218 (Prosecution of Judges and Public Servants) to initiate the criminal proceedings against the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K.Stalin and the Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for their derogatory, racist comments against your Highness, reproaching the Constitutional Post honoured by the Constitution of India.”

“Recently Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K. Stalin has stated in his tweet “ He is a Governor? Or an Aryan? Removing the word Dravidian and chanting the Tamil Thai Anthem is against the law of Tamil Nadu! A person who does not act according to the law and acts according to his will is not fit to hold that office. In the guise of celebrating Hindi, the governor is insulting the unity of the country and the people of different races living in this land! Will the governor who suffers from Dravidian allergy ask to sing the National Anthem without the word ‘Dravidiam’? The Central Government should immediately recall the governor who is deliberately insulting Tamil Nadu and the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu!”. the letter stated.

“A year ago, Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Udhayanidhi Stalin has made a derogatory speech reproaching your Highness and the video is being shared on social media widely now by the Dravidian Ideology people now. Here, in that video, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statements are as follows: “Governor Mr. RN Ravi. How arrogant? How much cholesterol/fat does he have? I am asking to you Mr Governor, ‘Who are you?’ What authority do you have? I am asking you Governor, ‘Who are you?’ Are you a People’s Representative? You are just a Post Man. Just delivering the things shared by our Chief Minister to the Union Government is only your job. You are just a Post Man. If we give respect, you are going beyond that and taking too much advantage. I am challenging you. He is not RN Ravi, hereafter he is RSS Ravi. Go and tell your ideology to our Tamil People. They will give slipper shots to you”. the correspondence further stated.

Those above statements create Cognizance under offences that demand initiation of Criminal Proceedings, particularly on, 151 (Assaulting President, Governor, etc., with intent to compel or restrain exercise of any lawful power) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other sections 192 (Want only giving provocation with intent to cause riot – if rioting be committed; if not committed), 196 (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 353 (2) (Statements conducting to public mischief), 356 (Defamation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). There is a pre-requisite condition under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Section 218 to obtain sanction from your office for the initiation of criminal proceedings Since they hold public posts i.e. CM, Deputy CM.” the correspondence finally read.

Background

The controversy erupted during the Hindi Month valedictory function at Doordarshan Kendra in Chennai, where the singers mistakenly omitted the line “Thekkanamum adhil sirantha Dravida nal thiru naadum,” which translates to “the great Dravidian nation in the Deccan,” from the state anthem.

Chief Minister MK Stalin swiftly condemned this omission and wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He argued that celebrating Hindi Month in non-Hindi-speaking states is perceived as diminishing other languages and suggested that such events should be discontinued. Instead, he advocated for promoting local language months in their respective states.

Chief Minister MK Stalin, via his official X account, stated, “I strongly condemn the celebration of Hindi Month valedictory function along with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Chennai Doordarshan. Hon’ble @PMOIndia, The Constitution of India does not grant national language status to any language. In a multilingual nation, celebrating Hindi Month in non-Hindi speaking states is seen as an attempt to belittle other languages.”

Therefore, I suggest that holding such Hindi-oriented events in non-Hindi speaking states could be avoided, and instead, the celebration of the local language month in the respective states should be encouraged.”

However, Stalin’s criticisms extended beyond the valedictory celebration of Hindi month; he also accused Governor RN Ravi of removing the term “Dravidian” from the anthem under the pretext of celebrating Hindi.

Describing the governor as having a “Dravidian allergy,” Stalin called for his recall, claiming he had “deliberately insulted” the people of Tamil Nadu.

In another post, Chief Minister MK Stalin stated, “Is he Governor? or Aryan? Removing the word Dravidian and reciting Tamil Thai anthem is against the law of Tamil Nadu! A person who acts according to his will and not act according to the law is not fit to hold that office. In the guise of celebrating Hindi, the governor is insulting the unity of the country and the people of different races living in this land!”

“Will the governor, who suffers from Dravidian allergy, leave out Dravidian in the national anthem? The Union Government should immediately recall the Governor who is deliberately insulting Tamil Nadu and the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu!” He further added.

Governor Ravi’s Reaction To CM Stalin’s Remarks

This accusation did not sit well with Governor Ravi, who retorted that Stalin’s comments were “unfortunately cheap” and argued that such accusations “lower the dignity” of the constitutional office of the Chief Minister. He stated that domestic and international forces seek to obstruct the country’s progress.

Governor RN Ravi stated, Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru. @mkstalin has issued a regrettable tweet this evening in which he made a racist remark against me and levelled false allegation of showing disrespect to Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu. He knows it well that I recite full Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu at every function and do so with reverence, pride and precision. He also knows that under leadership Hon’ble Prime Minister Thiru. @narendramodi the Central govt has proudly created several institutions for spread of Tamil language and heritage within India including Tamil Nadu and several countries of the world. #PMModi took Tamil even to the United Nations.”

Emphasizing his own efforts Ravi stated, “As a proud Indian I myself have taken numerous substantive initiatives to spread Tamil, the oldest and richest living language, in other states of the country, the latest being to set up, with cooperation of the Assam govt, a Tamil diploma course in Gauhati University for spread of Tamil in the North East.”

In a final blow to the DMK’s agenda, Ravi stated, “Making racist remark and alleging incorrect imputations against governor by the chief minister is unfortunately cheap and lowers the dignity of the high constitutional office of the chief minister. Since he rushed to public with his racist remarks and false imputations I am constrained to respond.” – Governor Ravi.”

“What Will M.K. Stalin’s Answer Be? Will Udhayanidhi Stalin Step Down?” Union Minister Of State L Murugan Slams DMK Over Tamil Thaai Anthem Goof Up Duplicity

Union Minister Of State L Murugan Slams DMK Over Tamil Thaai Anthem Goof Up Duplicity

L. Murugan, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, has ridiculed the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, questioning chief minister MK Stalin, “What will MK Stalin’s answer be? Will the Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin resign?”

This criticism arises in light of a recent incident involving Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, who attended a Hindi Month valedictory event at Doordarshan Kendra in Chennai. During the event, singers mistakenly omitted the line “Thekkanamum adhil sirantha Dravida nal thiru naadum,” which means “the great Dravidian nation in the Deccan,” from the state anthem ‘Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu‘ (Invocation to Mother Tamil). DMK leader M.K. Stalin has been vocal in his disapproval, accusing the Governor of intentionally removing the term “Dravidian” while promoting Hindi, labeling him as having a “Dravidian allergy” and calling for his recall, alleging he has “deliberately insulted” the people of Tamil Nadu. He also made racist comments against the Governor saying that a person who doesn’t abide by the law and acts as per his wishes was not fit to hold that office and wondered if Ravi was a governor or an ‘Aryan’.

On 25 October 2024, a similar mistake occurred at a government function for the Chief Minister’s Fellowship Programme, overseen by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Some performers mispronounced phrases of the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu, necessitating a re-performance. Udhayanidhi attributed the errors to technical difficulties with the microphone, asserting that the anthem was ultimately sung correctly. He urged the media not to blow the incident out of proportion.

In response, Union Minister L. Murugan has commented that these incidents reveal a misguided attempt at communal politics disguised as the Dravidian model.

In this regard Union Minister of State L. Murugan via his X official account questioned, “An incorrectly sung Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu at a program attended by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. What’s the response Chief Minister @mkstalin is going to give? Will @Udhaystalin step down…?”

“Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Tamil Nadu government officials participated in a program held at the Chief Secretariat, Chennai. At the beginning of the program, the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu was incorrectly sung. After that they attempted to sing it again from the beginning, but for the second time they have sung incorrectly. Overall, the Tamil Thai Vazhthu was not sung properly during the program.”, he stated.

Adding further, Dr. Murugan said “Tamil Thaai vaazhthu was mistakenly sung in a DD Tamil TV program and the television that organized the show apologized for that. However, I would like to recall how Chief Minister MK Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin and the DMK did low-level politics with that. M.K. Stalin was the one who forced the Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Governor @rajbhavan_tn RN Ravi to step down by throwing racist comments on him for attending the program as a special guest. He also demanded that the central government should sack the governor.”

“At present, the Tamil Thai greeting has been wrongly sung in a government function attended by his son Udayanidhi Stalin, what will M.K. Stalin’s answer be? Will Udhayanidhi Stalin resign after taking responsibility for wrongly singing the Tamil Thai greeting at a government function he attended? Or will M. K. Stalin depose his son Udayanidhi Stalin?”, he asked.

“The father and son who are blaming the governor who attended as a special guest in the matter of incorrectly singing of Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu, won’t they take responsibility if the same is incorrectly sung in the Tamil Nadu government program they lead? Based on this, will it be right to cast racist comments on them?”, he further questioned.

“In the press conference held after the event, when the reporters questioned it, Udhayanidhi Stalin blurted out, “Don’t make this issue a big problem.” Both the father and the son should now realize how they politicized the event in which the Governor participated and made it a big problem. Will the media, which has continuously debated the Governor’s program, talk about this? Is there one yardstick for the Governor and another for Udhayanidhi Stalin?” he asked.

“Good leaders’ beauty is pointing out and correcting common mistakes. It is the fake Dravidian model to politicize this issue by making communal politics. Not only the political party leaders but also the media should realize this.”, he advised.

When TVK General Secretary ‘Bussy’ Anand Startled Before Press Ahead Of Vijay’s Anticipated Party Conference

When TVK General Secretary 'Bussy' Anand Startled Before Press Ahead Of Vijay’s Anticipated Party Conference

When Bussy N Anand, the general secretary of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), faced the press regarding actor Vijay’s highly anticipated party conference, he appeared startled and began pleading with reporters, as if they might disrupt the event. In reality, they were merely asking questions to generate news. During this interaction, Anand’s driver drove off, prompting Anand to vent his frustration at the driver in visible anger.

Criticism arises, despite the party’s critical preparations for its debut conference amid pressure from the ruling DMK, such displays of fear and shouting at a driver reflect a lack of composure and arrogance for someone in his position.

Kollywood actor Vijay’s eagerly awaited first conference for his party, TVK, is scheduled for 27 October 2024, in Vikravandi, Viluppuram district. This event is highly anticipated as Vijay has remained largely silent about his political ideology since the party’s inception eight months ago. Observers are curious about his vision and how he plans to navigate the political landscape, particularly as he aligned himself closely to Dravidian ideology.

Preparations for the conference have been in full swing, since the morning the party was criticized for its cutouts featuring Vijay alongside anti-Hindu figure EVR and Ambedkar, positioned in the corner after Vijay, from netizens.

With only three days left until the conference, the party had restricted access to the venue, not allowing any outsiders inside, including journalists. As a result, when reporters spotted TVK General Secretary Bussy N Anand, they seized the opportunity to ask him questions and capture some newsworthy moments.

When the press inquired about the preparations for the conference, Anand replied, “As you can see, everything is progressing properly right.” another reporter then asked, “Is the chief coming to oversee things? Is there anything like that?” Anand started to plead, saying, “What can I say if you ask such questions?” He then turned to his driver, scolding him, “Will you stop it.” then he responded, “I want to be clear, I’m not some important person who can sit in the car and say. If you often do like this, I can’t do any work.”

This led to some journalists becoming upset, stating they didn’t want to be contacted again. Anand attempted to pacify them, then continued to answer their questions. He explained that, per police instructions, all arrangements—like CCTV cameras and water bottles had been set up by a private company on contract. As the reporters were leaving, he urged them not to be angry.

Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai previously encountered similar scrutiny from the press during his debut and the Lok Sabha election campaign. However, he faced these challenges with confidence, even warning reporters when they crossed the line. In contrast, the general secretary of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, Bussy N. Anand, appeared overwhelmed by the media’s inquiries at this crucial moment. This raises significant questions about his ability to handle the pressures of Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.

If Anand struggles in front of the press, it casts doubt on how he will confront larger political figures. Similarly, Kollywood actor Vijay, who has remained largely silent on political matters, adds another layer of uncertainty. Only time will tell if they can boldly face the consequences of their actions or if they risk being washed away in the political tide.

35 Students Hospitalized After Suspected Gas Leak At Chennai School

On 25 October 2024, approximately 35 students from Victory Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Thiruvottiyur were rushed to nearby hospitals after experiencing breathing difficulties and fainting, which were reportedly linked to a gas leak with an unpleasant odour.

Currently, nearly 20 students remain under treatment at various hospitals, while others were released after outpatient care.

Students reported noticing the foul smell for the past two days, and on 25th October at around 12:30 PM. They began experiencing throat irritation and breathing problems due to the odor. Although they alerted their teachers, the initial response was limited to providing hot water. By around 2:30 PM, students from Classes 6 to 10 on a specific floor began to faint one after another, prompting teachers to transport them to a nearby government hospital in Theradi.

Parents who gathered near the school and the hospital expressed their anger over not being informed about their children’s condition until 4 PM.

A senior official from the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) suggested that the incident may have been caused by a gas leak from the school laboratory, but emphasized that this has yet to be confirmed as an investigation is ongoing. He mentioned that of the approximately 30 affected students, all but one are in stable condition, with one female student transferred to Government Stanley Hospital for further care.

Thiruvottiyur MLA KP Shankar visited the Tsunami Relief Government Hospital, promising that the government would cover all medical expenses for the affected students.

Police officials who examined the scene indicated that the likelihood of a gas leak from the laboratory impacting the students was low, as the lab is situated on the opposite side of the building from where most students were affected. However, the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.

BJP’s SG Suryah Corrects ‘Dravidian Model’ Tamil Of DMK MP MM Abdulla Who Cried Foul About Hindi Imposition By Union Minister

BJP SG Suryah Corrects Tamil Of DMK MP MM Abdulla Who Cried Foul About Hindi Imposition By Union Minister

On 25 October 2024, DMK leader and Pudukkottai Rajya Sabha MP MM Abdulla sought to reignite the “Hindi imposition” debate by replying to Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu’s Hindi letter with one in Tamil. However, his response backfired as his letter contained spelling mistakes, leading to online mockery. Netizens have since started to troll him, playfully offering him Tamil lessons.

This comes against the backdrop of DMK scion Udhayanidhi Stalin being trolled online on October 25 for incorrectly singing the state anthem “Tamil Thai Vazhrhu” during a government meeting. In a bid to shift the narrative and defend Udhayanidhi, the MP inadvertently invited mockery upon himself.

The letter from Singh to Abdulla addressed concerns raised about food quality and cleanliness on trains. Abdulla shared copies of both letters on social media, highlighting that, despite repeatedly informing officials in the Union Minister of State’s office that he does not understand Hindi, they continued to communicate in that language. He noted that letters from the Minister of State for Railways are always in Hindi. Abdulla explained that he had previously asked the officials to send correspondence in English, but they still responded in Hindi.

DMK MP MM Abdulla, via his official X account, stated, “The letters from the office of the Honorable Minister of State for Railways are always in Hindi.  After reaching his office officials and telling them, “Please send the letter in English as I don’t know Hindi,” the letter is being sent in Hindi repeatedly. I have now sent him a reply so that he can understand. I hope they will understand and act accordingly.”

In his letter, the DMK MP said, “To the Hon’ble Minister, Vanakkam. Nalam Vilaikiren. I received the letter you sent. Since I don’t know Hindi, I don’t know what is written in it. So, the next time you send a letter, please send it in English.

Immediately, Tamil Nadu BJP state secretary SG Suryah pointed out his glaring spelling mistake and took the opportunity to correct him with the proper spelling.

Unfortunately, the DMK MP, who attempted to defend himself by claiming there was no spelling mistake and that he intended to communicate correctly, ended up posting another explanation on social media, only to be caught out again.

DMK MP MM Abdulla stated, “Vizhaikiren—I like, Vilaikiren—Explaining, Vizhaikiren—I wish you well, Vilaikiren—Are you fine?”

TN BJP state secretary SG Suryah responded by schooling him, saying, “The correct usage is Vizhaikiren. Vizhaikiren means “I would like to. “Nalam Vizhaikiren means” I wish you well. “There is no word in Tamil as Vilaikiren. Vilaikiren means to produce, like growing rice. We can’t grow wellness.”

Netizens mocked the DMK MP for his misspelling and ridiculed him for trying to assert that he was correct, poking fun at him and his party for their pretensions of genuine Tamil aspirations.

Here’s Why Vijay TV May Have Blurred Indian Flag Pinned On Actor Sivakarthikeyan And Other Bigg Boss Contestants

Actor Sivakarthikeyan entered the house of Bigg Boss Tamil as part of the promotions for his much anticipated film Amaran. In an engaging new promo for Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8, Vijay TV featured Sivakarthikeyan appearing in the Bigg Boss house, where he discusses his latest film “Amaran” with the housemates. The promo highlights his interactions with the contestants, including a cake-cutting to celebrate the film’s upcoming release. It also showed Actor Sivakarthikeyan and others pinning a badge of the Indian tricolour on their chest. However, the tricolour badge was blurred in the promo, prompting netizens to raise questions about the same.

A directive from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), in compliance with a Supreme Court order, requires filmmakers to obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) if they intend to feature the national flag in their films or shows. Filmmakers (applicable to any mass media broadcasting) must justify the necessity of the flag’s inclusion within the story and ensure the flag and flagpole conform to legal specifications regarding dimensions. The flag shown must also confirm to the Flag Code that govern the display of the Indian national flag. The Flag Code states that the Indian tricolour should be rectangular in shape with a length to height ratio of 3:2

Since the makers of the show are unlike to have got permission from MHA and the Indian flag badge worn by Sivakarthikeyan and the contestants, is round in shape which doesn’t confirm to the Flag Code, it may have been blurred.

Also, the national flag is protected as an emblem under the The Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950. Its use for any trade or commercial purpose is prohibited without MHA’s prior consent.

In 2017, a Kannada film titled ‘Mass Leader‘ starring Shivrajkumar, which is about an army officer fighting terrorism, had the tricolour blurred in all the scenes where it appears as they did not get the required permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

India Sees 74% Drop In Income Disparity Since AY15, Direct Tax Collection Highest In 14 Years

India Sees 74% Drop In Income Disparity Since AY15, Direct Tax Collection Highest In 14 Years

A new report has revealed a cumulative 74.2 percent decline in income disparity coverage for those earning up to ₹5 lakh in India. This shows that the government’s continuous efforts are reaching the bottom of the pyramid and leading to an increase in the income of ‘lower income group’ people.

The economic department of the State Bank of India (SBI) compared income disparity during assessment years (AY) 15 and AY24. This comparison showed a clear rightward shift in the income distribution curve in India, signifying that people in lower income brackets are increasing their income to converge towards their share of the population.

“Declining income inequality mirroring upward transition of lower-income people along with their income is evident as 43.6 per cent individual ITR filers, belonging to income group of less than ₹4 lakhs in AY15 (FY14), have left the lowest income group and shifted upwards,” the findings showed.

Also, 26.1 per cent of the gross income of lowest income group of lower than ₹4 lakh has shifted upwards in the intermittent period, the study noted. Female Labour force participation is on the rise (from 23.3 in 2017-18 to 41.7 in 2023-24), with Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Gujarat fanning the maximum movement.

With an increasing alignment with progressive taxation regime, contribution of direct taxes to total tax revenue reached 56.7 per cent in AY24 (54.6 per cent in AY23) — the highest in 14 years.

The growth rate of personal income tax (PIT) collections has been surging faster than corporate tax collections since FY21, with PIT increasing by 6 per cent against CIT’s 3 per cent growth, the SBI study noted.

ITRs filed during AY24 witnessed a phenomenal jump, standing at 8.6 crore (against 7.3 crore in AY22). A total of 6.89 crore or 79 per cent of these returns were filed on or before the due date, the concomitant result in the share of returns filed after due date (with fine) thus declining from a high of 60 per cent in AY20 to merely 21 per cent in AY24.

“We believe the total number of ITRs filing for AY25 could swell more than 9 crore by end March 2025 (7.3 crore ITRs have been filed by the due date) while inculcating more discipline amongst the filers,” said the SBI study.

Priyanka Vadra’s Affidavit Conceals More Than It Reveals, Alleges Amit Malviya

Priyanka Vadra’s Affidavit Conceals More Than It Reveals, Alleges Amit Malviya

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya has criticised Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, contesting Lok Sabha bypoll from Wayanad, for allegedly omitting key asset details in her election affidavit. Malviya said her investment in Associated Journal Limited (AJL) is missing in the affidavit. In a post on X on Friday, Malviya stated, “Priyanka Vadra’s affidavit conceals more than it reveals. One of the noted omissions from her affidavit is the investment in Associated Journal Limited (publishing National Herald newspaper). She has also conveniently excluded referring to the case against her, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, in the same scam.”

Malviya further highlighted an Income Tax assessment order from 2022, which reported that Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi had acquired additional shares in AJL through trusts, reportedly without compliance with the Companies Act. He said, “The Income Tax department’s assessment order of 2022 said: To fulfil the objective of acquiring 100 per cent shares of AJL, one of the majority shareholders of the assessee (Young India) Rahul, along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, had purchased additional 47,513 and 2,62,411 shares through Rattan Deep Trust and Janhit Nidhi Trust respectively without complying with Companies Act.” Malviya questioned the affidavit’s silence on this acquisition, asking, “But the affidavit filed by Priyanka Vadra is silent on details pertaining to the acquisition of AJL’s shares. Has she given up her share or have they been usurped by Rahul Gandhi? What exactly happened? The Returning Officer is duty bound to ask these questions.”

Priyanka Gandhi’s affidavit lists assets worth approximately Rs 12 crore, including a 12,000 sq ft farmhouse near Shimla valued at Rs 5.64 crore and a Honda CRV valued at Rs 8 lakh. Additionally, her declared assets comprise mutual funds of Rs 2.24 crore, jewellery worth Rs 1.16 crore, and co-owned agricultural land in Mehrauli valued at Rs 2.10 crore with her brother, Rahul Gandhi.

Her husband, Robert Vadra, has declared movable assets worth over Rs 37.9 crore and immovable assets exceeding Rs 27.64 crore, including vehicles and stakes in several companies, according to the affidavit. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra filed her nomination papers for the Lok Sabha bypolls in Wayanad on October 23, thereby marking her electoral debut. The election will be held on November 13.

Arvind Kejriwal Attacked During Campaign In Delhi’s Vikaspuri, Claims APP

Aam Aadmi Party on Friday claimed that their party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal was attacked during the ‘Jan Sampark Abhiyan’ campaign in the Vikaspuri area of Delhi. “Arvind Kejriwal was holding a padyatra in Vikaspuri area and meeting people there. The BJP is not able to digest the love and blessings that Arvind Kejriwal is getting from people. Today, people associated with the BJP have tried to attack Arvind Kejriwal,” said AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj in a video posted on his X account.

He said that over the past few days, whenever Arvind Kejriwal engages with the public, he receives immense love and affection. He added that earlier too, attempts have been made to hurt Arvind Kejriwal in jail. “When Arvind Kejriwal was in jail, his insulin was stopped, attempts were made for his death,” Bharadwaj added. “Yesterday, he visited an ice cream shop in Connaught Place, followed by a paan shop, and soon, many youngsters, children, and elderly people gathered to talk and take selfies with him,” he said. He added that this is what the BJP is struggling to accept and today, BJP-affiliated individuals attempted to attack Arvind Kejriwal. There was a major lapse in Kejriwal’s security in the Vikaspuri during his campaign. Reportedly, five to six people reached very close to the former Delhi Chief Minister and tried to attack him.

However, the AAP workers in the security ring prevented the possible attack on Kejriwal. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the attack on Arvind Kejriwal is extremely condemnable and worrying. “It is clear that the BJP has carried out this attack through its goons. If anything happens to Arvind Kejriwal, the entire responsibility will be on the BJP. We are not going to be afraid—the Aam Aadmi Party will remain steadfast on its mission,” the former Deputy Chief Minister said. He added that BJP first tried to kill Arvind Kejriwal in jail, adding that now the court has released him and he is coming out every day to meet the people of Delhi, so BJP is trying to kill him through its goons. “BJP wants to finish off Arvind Kejriwal by any means because they will never be able to defeat him in elections,” he said.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the attack on Arvind Kejriwal is deeply condemnable and alarming. “It’s evident that BJP orchestrated this through its goons. If anything happens to Kejriwal ji, BJP will be fully responsible,” he said. He added that Kejriwal has been a beacon of honest politics and a pioneer of change, transforming Delhi’s & Punjab’s education, healthcare, and infrastructure. “His leadership is crucial not just for Delhi but for the future of India. We will not be intimidated—AAP will stay committed to its mission,” the minister said.
