Loyola College Administrator Serves Legal Notice To YouTuber Maridhas

Loyola College Administrator Serves Legal Notice To YouTuber Maridhas

The controversy surrounding Loyola College deepened when its administrator issued a legal notice in response to YouTuber Maridhas’ allegations. Maridhas claims that the college’s syndicate, under the “Society of Jesus,” has been involved in fraudulent activities, including embezzlement and links to actor Vijay’s family. The allegations point to financial misconduct and a web of corruption benefiting Vijay’s relatives. The situation has escalated with multiple defamation notices and further revelations about the college’s questionable financial dealings.

Maridhas Accusations Against The Loyola Syndicate

YouTuber and political commentator Maridhas recently disclosed a series of allegations, supported by documents, claiming that the Loyola syndicate, under the banner of the “Society of Jesus,” has taken control and heavily influenced internal decisions. These allegations include involvement in benami transactions, fraudulent activities, and a deeper web of corruption to benefit Vijay’s family. In response, on 8 November 2024, Vijay’s uncle, Xavier Britto, issued a legal notice on his behalf.

The Loyola College controversy escalated when the college administrator issued a second defamation notice.

https://twitter.com/MaridhasAnswers/status/1864926729099419878

Maridhas took to his X handle to announce that he was prepared to unveil the next phase of his findings. He wrote that he would expose the UGC-Loyola scam, shedding light on hidden aspects of the institution’s 100-crore income. He stated that the investigation would reveal that Loyola College allegedly collected over 150 crores annually through questionable means.

Loyola Syndicate – Vijay Links

Maridhas traced these allegations back to the early days of Vijay’s acting career, starting with films like Naalaiya Theerpu (1992), Senthoorapandi (1993), Rasigan (1994), and Deva (1995), except for his first film, produced by Vijay’s father, Chandrasekhar, under VV Creations, all the others were made by XB Film Creators, owned by Xavier Britto, Vijay’s uncle. Britto has not mentioned this relationship in his PR despite producing these films.

This raised suspicions that led to further investigation, which led to another of Vijay’s uncles, Xavier Alphonse, who served as principal of Loyola College from 1992 to 1995. It is alleged that he embezzled or misappropriated society funds amounting to ₹ two crores, which were then allegedly funnelled into movie studios to kickstart their ventures. All of this supposedly occurred with the knowledge of SA Chandrasekhar, Vijay’s father.

All these allegations emerged in the context of an RTI request made by Mary Rajasekaran regarding the committee inquiry report that led to the dismissal of Vijay’s uncle, Xavier Alphonse, from Loyola College. She sought access to the related documents, but there has been no response—only a simple denial.

Sathanur Dam’s Sudden Water Release: Tiruvannamalai Residents Slam Govt’s Inadequate Flood Warnings

Sathanur Dam's Sudden Water Release: Tiruvannamalai Residents Slam Govt's Inadequate Flood Warnings

The sudden release of 1.8 lakh cusecs of water from the Sathanur Dam in Tiruvannamalai district late Sunday night caused severe flooding in villages along the Thenpennai river in Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and Cuddalore districts. While the Tamil Nadu government maintains that it followed standard operating procedures (SOPs) and issued timely alerts, on-ground reports highlight significant lapses in communication, leaving residents to fend for themselves in many cases.

https://twitter.com/Rajalakshmi2398/status/1864858741004439561

Residents of several affected villages, including Puthur Chekkadi, Rayandapuram, Thiruvathanur, and Kolamajanur, reported receiving either insufficient warnings or no alerts at all. Villagers told The New Indian Express (TNIE) that the lack of clear instructions and specific details about the potential flood levels caused chaos and preventable losses.

A resident of Puthur Chekkadi told TNIE that only a few villagers received SMS alerts from the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, and those messages arrived late on Monday morning—after the flooding had already begun. The alert simply stated, Water is being released from Sathanur Dam. People living on the banks of Thenpennai river are advised to move to safer places.”

The warnings that were issued often lacked critical details, such as the expected flood levels or specific instructions about evacuation to relief shelters.

In certain areas, residents relied on personal networks and local announcements to understand the urgency of the situation, as official communication failed to reach them in time. The absence of clear instructions resulted in delayed evacuations, leaving people scrambling to protect their families and possessions during the worst of the flooding.

The sudden flooding caused extensive damage to property and significant losses of livestock, which forms a primary source of livelihood for many families. Residents expressed frustration that earlier and clearer warnings could have helped them mitigate some of these losses, particularly the loss of cattle.

Residents of Rayandapuram echoed similar grievances, stating that while warnings were issued between 25 November 2024 and 30 November 2024, they lacked specific details about the extent of flooding or instructions to move to designated relief shelters. Another resident added that despite experiencing heavy rains on Sunday, 1 December 2024, no one anticipated the release of such a massive quantity of water early Monday morning (2 December 2024).

In Thiruvathanur, residents relied on loudspeaker announcements from a local mosque to evacuate. Kolamajanur Panchayat residents and villagers in Arakandanallur, Devanur, and Thirukovilur in Villupuram district similarly complained of inadequate communication. In Thirukovilur, flood warnings were issued through vans equipped with loudspeakers that passed along main roads. Villages further from main roads reported missing out on mobile alerts and announcements made by vehicles equipped with loudspeakers. In some areas, warnings were issued several days before the release but were treated as routine during the monsoon season, leading to complacency among residents. Others received alerts on the day of the water release but without enough time to prepare or evacuate safely.

Officials from the Water Resources Department (WRD) defended their actions, stating that alerts were issued as early as 25 November 2024. Regarding the massive water release on Monday, an Assistant Engineer at Sathanur Dam said the revenue department was informed by 2:30 AM on Monday, 2 December 2024.

Government officials followed all necessary protocols, including issuing early alerts to the revenue department. However, there were acknowledged gaps in ensuring this information reached every affected community.

Forest Minister K. Ponmudy attributed the damage to unprecedented rainfall, stating that the government took all possible precautions. Tiruvannamalai Collector D. Baskarapandian highlighted that timely evacuation efforts avoided loss of life, though material losses were substantial.

Residents noted that this was the worst flooding they had ever experienced, with elderly villagers comparing it to a similar disaster in the early 1970s.

The flooding has sparked political criticism, with questions about the adequacy of the state’s disaster management protocols and the effectiveness of communication systems.

Nandini’s Whey-Based Idli-Dosa Batter Launch Postponed Indefinitely; Congress’ Favouritism Towards Minority-Owned Brands?

Nandini's Whey-Based Idli-Dosa Batter Launch Postponed Indefinitely; Congress' Favouritism Towards Minority-Owned Brands?

The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF)’s launch of idli and dosa batter under its flagship Nandini brand has been indefinitely delayed, fueling allegations of political interference and favouritism. Initially set to debut in Bengaluru—a market dominated by private players like iD Fresh Foods, Asal, and MTR—the product was intended to cater to the city’s demand for convenient breakfast options.

The unexpected transfer of KMF Managing Director MK Jagadish, who spearheaded the batter’s development, has raised questions about the project’s future. Known for his innovative strategies, Jagadish expanded Nandini’s footprint to Delhi, Dubai, and international markets while securing high-profile sponsorships for major sporting events like the Indian Super League and Pro Kabaddi tournaments. Under his leadership, the brand also resumed its ghee supply to Tirupati for the iconic Tirupati laddus.

Critics allege that the Congress-led Karnataka government, under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, prioritized private interests over Nandini’s. They claim the delay benefits iD Fresh Foods, a Bengaluru-based company founded by P.C. Mustafa, a Forbes India-recognized entrepreneur. Allegations suggest this move is aimed at shielding established private brands owned by minorities from competition, raising concerns about political motives.

The whey-based idli-dosa batter, designed to appeal to Bengaluru’s working population, was set to launch in October 2024, later rescheduled to 26 November 2024, and is now postponed indefinitely. Packaged in a 900-gram pouch, it promised to make up to 18 idlis or 12–14 dosas, with plans for broader distribution based on its initial reception.

The delay has sparked a political storm, with opposition voices accusing the government of undermining the state-run cooperative. The sudden transfer of Jagadish has been cited as evidence of internal disagreements and deliberate efforts to derail the project, drawing sharp criticism from various quarters.

Demographic Shift Revealed In UK Birth Certificates – Muhammad Tops UK’s Baby Name Charts

Demographic Shift Revealed In UK Birth Certificates - Muhammad Tops UK's Baby Name Charts

Muhammad claimed the top spot as the most popular name for baby boys in England and Wales in 2023, overtaking Noah, who had previously held the position with over 4,600 registrations. The UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) confirmed the trend, noting that Muhammad has consistently featured in the top 10 baby boys’ names since 2016.

The ONS treats different spellings of the same name as distinct entries, and alternative spellings like Mohammed and Mohammad also ranked within the top 100, further demonstrating the widespread popularity of the name. This indicates the dramatic shift in demography in the region. As of 2021, Muslims comprised 6.5% of the United Kingdom’s total population, amounting to near about four million individuals. London hosts the largest concentration of Muslims in the country, with 15% of the city’s residents identifying with the faith.

For baby girls, Olivia remained the most chosen name, followed by Amelia and Isla. These three names have dominated the top rankings since 2022.

Several names made their first appearance in the top 100 list for 2023. For girls, Lilah, Raya, and Hazel were among the newcomers, while boys’ names Jax, Enzo, and Bodhi debuted on the list.

Pop culture continued to influence baby naming trends, with names inspired by celebrities such as Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, and the Kardashian-Jenner family, including their children Reign and Saint. Influences from Hollywood also played a role, with names like Margot and Cillian gaining traction, likely linked to stars Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy.

Music was another significant influence, with names like Miley, Rihanna, Kendrick, and Elton becoming increasingly popular, possibly tied to recent album releases and prominent performances.

Seasonal names such as Autumn and Summer gained ground in 2023, with Autumn ranking 96th and Summer climbing to 86th, a notable rise compared to 2022 but still well below its peak in 2013. Names inspired by days of the week, including Sunday and Wednesday, also saw a boost.

The appeal of royal names continued to wane, with fewer parents choosing names like George, Archie, Harry, Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Charles. This decline reflects a broader trend observed in recent years.

The ONS report highlights how cultural and societal shifts influence naming preferences, with pop culture, seasons, and even weekdays playing a significant role in shaping the choices parents make for their children.

Justice Chandru Who Made Casteist Misogynist Attack On Nirmala Sitharaman To Receive First Copy Of Book On Ambedkar From TVK Vijay

Justice Chandru Who Made Casteist Misogynist Attack On Nirmala Sitharaman To Receive First Copy Of Book On Ambedkar From TVK Vijay

Former Madras High Court Justice K Chandru, known for his Dravidianist views, took center stage at the December 6 launch of Ellarukumana Thalaivar Ambedkar, a book by actor-turned-politician Vijay. Chandru replaced VCK leader Thirumavalavan, whose absence sparked political speculation, drawing criticism over the appropriateness of Chandru’s involvement given his divisive rhetoric and past casteist remarks.

Ellarukumana Thalaivar Ambedkar

On 6 December 2024, Vijay, the president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and actor-turned-politician, released a book titled “Ellarukumana Thalaivar Ambedkar” (Ambedkar: a Leader for All). The detailed work published by Vikatan was spearheaded by TVK General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna. Initially, VCK leader Thirumavalavan was expected to receive the book and deliver a speech. However, Thirumavalavan chose not to attend, sparking political speculation about possible behind-the-scenes influence from the DMK.

In an unexpected turn, the event saw the controversial former Justice of the Madras High Court, K. Chandru, replacing Thirumavalavan as the guest of honor.

Former Justice of Madras High Court, Chandru, who has been at the center of controversy following his involvement in the Dravidianist propaganda movie ‘Jai Bhim’, known for his vocal opposition to the central government and his strong alignment with the DMK. His political views and support for Dravidian ideologies have often led to criticisms, particularly his proposals aimed at eradicating caste distinctions in schools. Under the guise of his role in the ‘One Man Commission,’ Chandru controversially recommended measures that appeared to specifically target Hindu practices among students, such as the removal of spiritual symbols like the sacred ropes tied around their wrists, wearing Vibuthi among others.

What is even more alarming is that when we think of Dr. Ambedkar, we remember a man who fought tirelessly to eradicate caste-based discrimination. However, in contrast, the retired justice, instead of working towards dismantling caste, has aligned himself with Dravidianist ideologies and promoted divisive rhetoric, particularly targeting one community. For instance, in the past, he has made casteist and sexist remarks about Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in his social media posts.

In a Facebook post, former Judge of the Madras High Court had commented that Annamalai is making a route for a Rajya Sabha seat through Karnataka just like “Oorugaai Ammaiyaar” – a casteist and a sexist reference to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s Brahmin and woman identity.

Oorugaai Ammaiyaar in Tamil means “a woman who makes pickles”. This reference is used because it is said that women from Tamil Brahmin community make good pickles.

It is not just a casteist reference but is also sexist and highly misogynistic that indirectly implies that women from Brahmin commmunity are good for only making pickles.

Following this, many on social media called out the casteist and sexist mindset who had once wielded the pen of justice.

Social commentator and political analyst Banu Gomes said that these people don’t realize that their comments are actually appreciations. “It is challenging to make traditional pickles year after year without the change in taste. It is an activity that requires science, accounting, accuracy, purity, and sharpness. So, every time someone mentions calls her (FM Nirmala Sitharaman) ‘Oorugaai Ammaiyaar’ it is a complement to her’.

Given his controversial stance on these issues, the decision to invite him to launch a book on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar raised eyebrows. Many saw it as a significant misstep, with critics arguing that the choice to feature someone with such a politically charged history undermined the significance of the book and its message.

Dravidian Model: Municipal Officials Distribute Spoilt Fungus-Laden Food To Flood-Affected Victims In Viluppuram’s Arakandanallur

Dravidian Model: Municipal Officials Distribute Spoilt Fungus-Laden Food To Flood-Affected Victims In Viluppuram's Arakandanallur

Around 2,000 families in Arakandanallur Panchayat, Viluppuram district, have been severely impacted by the recent flooding caused by the Thenpennai and Thurinjal Rivers. The floodwaters have inundated their homes, disrupting their daily lives and livelihoods. Although the local Panchayat has been providing basic necessities such as food and water, residents have expressed frustration, as even these essential supplies were inadequate and substandard.

For two days, the people of Arakandanallur suffered without basic provisions, including clean drinking water, and were left with spoiled food. In a particularly distressing incident, a woman, already desperate from hunger, discovered that the food provided by the Panchayat was moldy and inedible. Upon inspecting the other food packets, it was found that the rice inside had rotted. In a state of disbelief, the woman discarded the spoiled food on the street, saying, “We’d rather die than eat this rotten food.”

The situation worsened when Panchayat employees, who had distributed the food, acknowledged the poor condition of the supplies. After complaints, the Panchayat workers informed the authorities, leading to the disposal of thousands of food packets, which were kept in cardboard boxes at the Panchayat office, into a garbage truck.

Thiruvennainallur’s PDO, Balu, who had sent the food from Trichy, explained that the packets were prepared on 4 December 2024 at 5 PM and were intended to be distributed by 8 PM. However, due to delays, the food was distributed around noon on 5 December, causing it to spoil when it reached the affected families.

Local residents now demand that the district administration take immediate action to provide them with quality food and essential support, as they have already lost their homes and belongings in the flood. The situation has sparked anger among the people, especially with children and the elderly struggling for survival.

In another incident in the same area, residents confronted DMK Town Panchayat President Anbu and DMK City Secretary Sundaramoorthy, expressing their frustration for providing spoiled food. “We know how to protect ourselves, we don’t need anyone’s support,” they said in a heated exchange, reflecting the deep sense of despair and anger within the community. This ongoing crisis has drawn significant attention, with local authorities now under pressure to address the serious shortcomings in relief efforts and provide proper care for the flood-affected families.

“Partition Was Along Islamic Lines, Not Religious Lines”, Says Activist Shehla Rashid

"Partition Was Along Islamic Lines, Not Religious Lines", Says Activist Shehla Rashid

In a candid conversation with Abhinandan Sekhri of leftist portal Newslaundry, activist and author Shehla Rashid shed light on her new book, Role Models: Inspiring Stories of Indian Muslim Achievers, which aims to challenge stereotypes about the Muslim community and highlight their potential for success in India. The book features stories of icons like music composer AR Rahman, tennis star Sania Mirza, ISRO scientist Nigar Shaji, and paraplegic swimmer Shams Aalam. However, Rashid’s perspective on India’s Partition and her critiques of Islamic separatism stood out as the highlight of the discussion.

The Islamic Lines Of Partition

In the promo video, Rashid is seen asking Sekhri, if India was divided on religious lines. Abhinandan replies in the affirmative. Shehla tells him, No, it wasn’t. It was divided on Islamic lines.which leaves Sekhri shocked.

Rashid rejected the notion that India’s Partition was based purely on religious lines. Instead, she argued that it was rooted in Islamic lines, shaped by separatist ideologies that prioritized religious exclusivity. She explained how these ideologies created divisions by promoting the idea that Muslims could only thrive under Sharia rule. We reduced ourselves to a minority based on ideologies that claimed Muslims could flourish only under Sharia, while evidence shows the contrary,Rashid asserted.

Under Muslim vs. Secular Rule

Drawing comparisons, she pointed to how Muslim-majority nations have grappled with internal sectarian conflicts. For instance, Pakistan’s persecution of Shias and Ahmadis, and Bangladesh’s crackdown on Sufi practices, illustrate the complexities of definingwho is a Muslimin states governed by Islamic principles. In contrast, she highlighted India’s secular framework, which allows Muslims the freedom to pray, dress, and live as they choose, fostering an environment where they can thrive.

A Missed Opportunity For Dialogue

Rashid expressed disappointment with the interview’s fixation on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that while she acknowledges his position as a leader for all Indians, the focus on him overshadowed broader discussions about the themes in her book. We spent 1.5 hours fixated on Modi, but missed the chance to discuss critical issues like the Islamic basis of Partition and its implications for modern-day India, she remarked.

https://twitter.com/Shehla_Rashid/status/1864668820201206265

Rashid emphasized the need for honest introspection within the Muslim community about the lingering influence of separatist ideologies. She urged Muslims to recognize the freedoms they enjoy in a secular democracy like India, contrasting it with the restrictions and sectarian strife seen under Islamic rule.

VCK Headed For Vertical Split? One Dy Gen Sec Slams DMK And Extends Hand To TVK, While Another Dy Gen Sec Mocks Vijay And Buttresses DMK

VCK Headed For Vertical Split? One Dy Gen Sec Slams DMK And Extends Hand To TVK, While Another Dy Gen Sec Mocks Vijay And Buttresses DMK

Amid the upcoming book launch ceremony titled ‘Ambedkar: A Leader for All’ in Chennai on 6 December 2024, organized jointly by Vikatan Publications and Deputy General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna, which features 20 interviews and 45 articles on Dr Ambedkar’s life and work, there was initial expectation that both Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) Chief Thirumavalavan and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and actor-turned-politician Vijay would share the stage. However, VCK Chief Thirumavalavan later declined to participate, leading to widespread speculation that his absence was due to pressure from the DMK.

It seems the rift within the VCK is coming to a head like never before, with the party’s Deputy General Secretaries openly at odds. One is determined to maintain the status quo within the DMK alliance, while the other seeks to explore new opportunities.

In this context, VCK Deputy General Secretary Vanni Arasu criticized TVK Chief Vijay and defended the DMK, stating that no influence from the DMK had led to Thirumavalavan’s decision to skip the event.

He expressed a warning post on his official X account stating, “#Warning Revolutionaries cannot be packaged! Our leader @thirumaofficial has been fighting for more than a quarter of a century, accepting revolutionary Ambedkar, father Periyar and Karl Marx as his ideological mentors. He has been working uncompromisingly for the rights of Tamil Nadu and for the liberation of oppressed women and Dalits. Just as he vigorously opposed the Sanathana gang during the election boycott, he has been fighting even after coming to the election path.Today, it is the leopards who are trying to resist the Sanathana gang in Tamil Nadu. No one can lead our leader from behind, who is leading such a great movement. Some political brokers are trying to do so.”

They are suggesting that our leader did not attend the book launch ceremony titled ‘Ambedkar: A Leader for All’, which is scheduled to be held tomorrow, December 6, due to pressure from the DMK. In 2001, leader Thirumavalavan contested for the first time in the DMK alliance from Mangalore constituency and won. He resigned from the post of MLA in 2003. If he wanted the post, he could have listened to the DMK leader and continued in office. But our leader resigned from office because policy was important to him. It is a political tragedy that some brokers are trying to pull such a principled leader to their wish. Some media houses in Tamil Nadu are trying to do politics using the name of revolutionary Ambedkar. Rather than the success of Ambedkar’s policies, they are striving to achieve the success of their political conspiracy. Some former journalists who did not fight against media houses that threw away the labor rights and security laws that revolutionary Ambedkar had laid off. Instead, the journalists are criticizing our leader for selfish reasons, who has always spoken for the rights of journalists,” he added.

Taking a dig at TVK chief Vijay, the VCK leader stated, “Our leader did not say that he would not come to the book launch event on Ambedkar. He only said that he could not share the stage with someone who, without any understanding of the revolutionary Ambedkar, holds the Constitution in one hand and the Bhagavad Gita in the other and makes a conciliatory ‘payasam’. But the book publishers have ignored our leader and went ahead that they need the Payasam. That’s their choice. But promoting the false propaganda that our leader has ignored the program is not only insulting our leader but also insulting the revolutionary Ambedkar. Book publishers should understand one thing: the revolutionary Ambedkar and the rebellious Tamilians are like fire. No one can package them.”

On the other hand, Aadhav Arjuna, the other Deputy General Secretary of the VCK and the main force behind organizing the book release, is advocating for a better opportunity for the party than its current alliance with the DMK. He believes the DMK has failed to empower the VCK, despite the party having 4 MLAs and 2 MPs. As a result, Aadhav Arjuna has been consistently criticizing the DMK, seizing every opportunity to do so. He is also the one who has been vocal about the need for a “share in governance and power.”

Aadhav Arjuna was impressed by actor-turned-politician and TVK chief Vijay, who, in his maiden speech had promised a share in governance and power, and it resonated with the VCK’s current aspirations. Seizing the opportunity, Arjuna sought to arrange a meeting between Vijay and VCK leader Thirumavalavan. However, the DMK allegedly used its influence within the VCK to oppose Arjuna’s plan, even raising the other Deputy General Secretary against him. Despite this, Arjuna’s maneuver resonated strongly with the party cadres, who believe that a new alliance, possibly with the AIADMK or the newly formed TVK, would open more opportunities for dialogue and allow the party to assert its presence and aspirations.

Praising Former Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha

Even after his initial plan to align the VCK with TVK was thwarted, Aadhav Arjuna continued to pursue new opportunities. On 5 December 2024, he strategically praised former Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha, posting this tribute just a day before his scheduled meeting with Thirumavalavan and Vijay at his book launch. The post was widely seen as an indirect criticism of the DMK, signaling Arjuna’s continued efforts to advance his political agenda for the VCK.

Aadhav Arjuna via his official X account stated, “A female personality who stood out in a field dominated by men in politics as well as society. Honorable former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, a great achiever who defeated all the intrigues against her by holding on to her wit and courage. In the history of Tamil Nadu elections, she is known as the only personality who fielded her party’s candidates alone in all 234 assembly constituencies in the 2016 elections and achieved victory in them. On her death anniversary, let us remember the admirable contributions of Honorable former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, an uncompromising iron lady who never gave up the interests and rights of Tamil Nadu to the Union Government.”

Criticizing DMK’s Poor Flood Management

The day before, Aadhav Arjuna criticized the DMK government’s handling of disaster management, stating, “When will we wake up? The northern districts have been devastated by the cyclone and floods. Tamil Nadu has been facing natural disasters continuously for the past decade. But it is regrettable that the infrastructure has not been put in place to deal with it. At the same time, the state of Odisha, which is facing severe natural disasters, has put in place proper infrastructure facilities and measures to protect the people. Therefore, the people there are not exposed to natural disasters to a large extent. But, in Tamil Nadu too, every time people are affected by natural disasters, it is customary for the government to give only the reasons for it. Human lives have been lost due to this and the situation where people are struggling for basic needs like food and clothing is very sad. The question remains, what lesson have we learned from these problems?… My deepest condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives in this disaster. Moreover, this storm has completely destroyed the economy and livelihoods of the simple people of this region. Many are struggling even for basic food. Therefore, I request the government to accelerate its work on a war footing.”

“The government needs to set up call centers to quickly assess the situation of the affected people. Since roads are cut off in many areas, even volunteers are unable to provide assistance. Therefore, the government needs to set up call centers in the affected areas and coordinate everyone, including volunteers. Since the rescue operations need to reach the most vulnerable people, it is necessary for the government to collect information and needs of the affected people through these call centers. This will create an opportunity for the public and volunteers across Tamil Nadu to provide assistance to the affected people. Volunteers like us are ready to provide assistance to the people affected by this great tragedy. It is a moral act for the government to use it for the needs of the people,” he added.

If a by-election comes, how does the ruling party appoint a minister and MP for every twenty booths and carry out field work like a ‘spin’ showing their enthusiasm for election victory, while the people are now in great distress, why is the government machinery not working to solve the basic needs of the affected people in a by-election style? It is necessary for the entire cabinet to participate in this work. The government should quickly eliminate the suffering of the poor and simple people who are struggling for basic needs by appointing ministers and in-charges for the affected areas at the micro level, especially at the branch and panchayat levels,” he further added

Aadhav Arjuna criticized the DMK government’s handling of disaster management, stressing the immediate need for medical teams and precautionary measures, particularly due to the risk of epidemics affecting marginalized communities in the aftermath of floods. He argued that Tamil Nadu has the right to demand disaster relief funds from the Union Government, and there should be no compromise on this matter. He condemned the Union Government for its continued neglect of Tamil Nadu, withholding relief funds, and urged the state to provide swift relief to Dalits, the poor, and farmers impacted by the disaster.

Arjuna emphasized that the government should not use the Union Government’s inaction as an excuse to delay assistance. He also called for a self-reliant economic model to address the immediate needs of food, clothing, and shelter for the people. Pointing to the devastating losses caused by climate change-induced natural disasters in recent years, he advocated for the creation of a committee of disaster and sectoral experts to develop a comprehensive disaster management plan for the state, similar to those in place in states like Odisha. Arjuna concluded with a call for vigilance and readiness in tackling future natural disasters, quoting, “If there is no food for an individual, we will destroy this world!”.

Asserting How DMK Needs VCK For In North TN

This is not the first time. Previously, VCK Deputy General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna claimed that the DMK could not win in the north without VCK’s support, stating in a private media interview, “In the north constituencies in TN, without VCK’s vote bank, DMK cannot win. You can check statistics for yourself. We have that much of an influence. If DMK has to win 50 out of 58 constituencies in north TN, they can win in the delta region, in the south it is 50-50, in the west it is difficult, only then they can cross 120. Since 1996, they have never formed a majority government. The victory in the northern constituencies is important for the DMK and VCK has a 60% share in it. 100% votes from Dalits and OBCs will vote for VCK. Everyone fights for the elections and wins but the victory is enjoyed only by DMK.”

Taking Jabs At DMK Scion Udhayanidhi Stalin

Earlier, speaking at a housewarming event in Madurai, Arjuna highlighted the need for a shift in political leadership to empower Dalit communities to shape their own futures. In a subtle jab at DMK scion and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, he remarked, “Here, one alone is not born to rule.”

We are working to create a political movement that can challenge and dismantle oppressive mindsets,” Arjuna stated. “The fight against honor killings must begin in schools, and we need to make public the data on over 10 lakh acres of Panchami lands that should be allocated to affected communities.

Arjuna also criticized the overemphasis on caste identity, responding to social media discussions about his own caste. “I don’t even know what my caste is,” he said, emphasizing that his alliance with VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan is based on shared values and principles, not caste. “Dalit politics is not about caste; it’s about humanity,” he added.

Criticizing the DMK indirectly, he said, “We have been waiting for the problems to come, only with problems solutions will arrive. It’s enough being quiet and patient. We’ve been waiting quietly for over a thousand years. They claim this is an ideological alliance, a power alliance and so if that’s the case, then give us the power. Shouldn’t the power be given to Dalit people, then this ideological alliance is not a power-sharing alliance. Here, one alone not born to rule.”

Arjuna continued to advocate for the realization of Thirumavalavan’s vision, expressing his confidence in its success. “Thirumavalavan’s dreams will be realized soon,”

CNN Smear Campaign Against India Amplifies Missionary Agenda Under The Guise Of Justice

CNN Smear Campaign Against India Amplifies Missionary Agenda Under The Guise Of Justice

In what can be seen as an anti-India move, American news channel CNN has aired a feature targeting India as part of itsFreedom Project, prominently showcasing Justice Ventures International (JVI), an American Missionary NGO led by Jeffrey Pankratz.

While the feature purportedly focused onslavery in South Asia,it disproportionately zeroed in on India, depicting poor individuals—many visibly Hindu with bindis and other cultural symbols—asslaves. This selective portrayal not only unfairly stigmatizes India but also appears to target Hinduism, fueling allegations of bias and propaganda.

Justice Ventures International: A Missionary Organization

Justice Ventures International, headquartered in the United States, operates primarily in India and Nepal, raising questions about its selective focus on these regions. Positioned as a justice-focused NGO, JVI’s website reveals its overt Christian missionary undertones.

When you click on the word Pray, this is what opens up. It openly calls for prayers forvictims of injustice, financial resources, and a change of heart among offenders—language steeped in evangelical intent.

The NGO describes its mission as grounded in Christian faith, stating on its website, We believe that Jesus Christ is the perfect expression of God’s love for all humanity… We seek to partner with both Christians and others in the common cause of justice.

Such rhetoric raises concerns about the organization’s actual motives, especially when paired with its call for prayers and missionary-style support.

CNN’s Role In Amplifying Propaganda

CNN’s decision to air the feature exclusively highlighting India in the context ofslavery in South Asiaappears to align with JVI’s agenda. By showcasing images of poor Hindus in traditional attire and presenting them as ‘slaves‘, CNN has amplified a narrative that smears India and its heritage. Notably absent from the segment was any acknowledgment of similar issues in neighbouring countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh which also fall under the “South Asia” bracket, raising questions about the selective framing.

This one-sided portrayal leads us to suspect the influence of wealthy backers funding this propaganda. By giving a global platform to an organization with clear missionary undertones, CNN exposes its journalistic credibility and seems to be complicit in advancing an agenda under the guise of addressing human rights.

If poverty is equated with slavery, then targeting India alone is disingenuous at best and malicious at worst. Justice Ventures International’s operational footprint—limited to India and Nepal—along with its evangelical messaging, suggests a deliberate focus on regions with significant Hindu populations. Coupled with CNN’s selective storytelling, the feature looks less like journalism and more like a well-coordinated smear campaign.

Those responsible for disseminating such disinformation should face accountability for their actions.

India deserves respect and fair representation—not to be the target of skewed propaganda masquerading as advocacy.

PM Awas Yojana: 88 Lakh Houses Given To Urban Poor Since 2015

PM Awas Yojana: 88 Lakh Houses Given To Urban Poor Since 2015

The Lok Sabha was informed on Thursday that more than 88.22 lakh houses have been delivered to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) until November 25, 2024.

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu said in reply to a question that under PMAY-U, launched on June 25, 2015, a total of 118.64 lakh houses have been sanctioned by the Ministry, out of which 114.22 lakh have been grounded and more than 88.22 lakh delivered to the beneficiaries. Sahu said that learning from the experiences of PMAY-U, MoHUA launched PMAY-U 2.0 ‘Housing for All’ Mission on September 1, 2024, to provide Central Assistance to one crore additional households of EWS/LIG/MIG categories to construct, purchase and rent a house at affordable cost in urban areas across the country.

As of date, 29 States/UTs have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to implement PMAY-U 2.0 as per scheme guidelines. The total investment is Rs 10 lakh crore, including a government subsidy of Rs 2.30 lakh crore, the MoS said. In reply to another question, Sahu said the government has taken initiatives to promote prefabricated house construction technology as an affordable and sustainable solution for addressing the housing shortage in urban areas.

“About 10 lakh houses have been constructed using innovative construction technologies including pre-fabricated technology in the country so far under PMAY-U. In this system, components such as walls, slabs, and beams are manufactured in a factory and then assembled at the construction site which significantly reduces construction time while enhancing quality control,” he said. Under PMAY-U, a Technology Sub-Mission (TSM) was set up for the promotion and adoption of innovative, sustainable, eco-friendly, energy-efficient and disaster-resilient technologies and building materials. Under PMAY-U 2.0, it has further expanded into the Technology and Innovation Sub-Mission (TISM) to support innovative construction practices and projects, he said.

The MoS said to promote the infusion of new ideas, 54 innovative proven construction technologies were shortlisted from across the globe after the Global Housing Technology Challenge – India (GHTC-India) that was initiated to identify and mainstream globally best available proven construction technologies, including prefabricated technology. Asked about the manner in which the government plans to address challenges related to land acquisition and zoning regulations for pre-fabricated housing projects with a focus on densely populated tribal pockets, the MoS said that with regard to prefabricated housing projects, there is no special requirement related to land acquisition and zoning regulations in the country, including densely populated tribal pockets.
