Rabid Islamist JMU student Aysha Renna of anti-CAA fame ignites Hindu-Muslim row on Twitter, netizens indulge in spewing hate

The hashtag #boycottGoAir started trending on Twitter today as a person named Asif Khan, who claims to be a cabin crew with GoAir had on his twitter handle, abused Hindus and Hindu Gods which led to Twitteratis calling for the boycott of the airline.

Mr. Khan who in his Twitter bio calls himself a “student of political science”, “supporter of capitalist ideology” and “secular by nature” made vile references to Goddess Sita and Ravana and even passed disparaging comments on Lord Shiva.

It all started with Aysha Renna, the Muslim student who shot to fame overnight during the anti-CAA protest, who posted a picture of PM Modi and called him a “leader of an ideology based on mere hatred and divinity of birth”. The ‘divinity of birth’ being an indirect reference to Hinduism.

Another twitter user name AN Bajpai had commented “Why pakees are burning and blasting when Modi in power ? Bibi, you go to jannat and join team of 72” to which Asif Khan had replied “And surely you will go to Lanka to know who is your real parents…. virgin or not”.

AN Bajpai replied to Asif’s tweet saying  “Ohh! you are also burning. Join some group and b!ast. My parents struggled and had not give up so I am pride hindu and your’s opened lace of salwar before invaders, so you are Asif now.

Asif had replied to the above tweet saying “In my opinion we all are the citizens of India and India’s beauty is India’s culture so we should live with peace and harmony”.

However, Asif had gone an abusive rant later derogating Goddess Sita.

Another Twitter user named Musketeer intervened to call Asif a terrorist and had commented on his Islamic background.

Asif then went on to abuse Hindus, Hindu Gods and Hindu scriptures.

Asif has now deleted his account while those of AN Bajpai and Musketeer are still active.

Following this, the hashtag #boycottGoAir with many Twitteratis calling for the termination of Asif Khan.

Is the Kingfisher coming back or not? Read to know

On Wednesday, news reports emerged that liquor baron and founder of now defunct Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya would soon be getting extradited to India.  Citing a top Enforcement Directorate source, news agency IANS had said that the Mallya would be in India anytime soon in the coming days and that all legal formalities have been completed.

Though nothing was mentioned about when the fugitive business tycoon would be extradited to India, news reports said that Mallya would be flown to Mumbai airport accompanied by CBI and ED officials.

The teams of CBI and the ED are already working on the process of extradition to India, news reports said.

The IANS had tweeted that the development comes in the wake of Mallya losing his appeal in the UK top court on May 14 against his extradition to India.

However, quoting a Mallya’s personal assistant and a senior official at the Indian High Commission in London, a report by Times of India on June 4 said that the he is not getting extradited anytime soon.

The High Commission official said that the media has picked up old statements of CBI adding that the “situation has not changed and there are delays”.

Vijay Mallya fled India in March 2016 and is accused of defrauding as many as 17 Indian banks.

“One Country, One Nationality”: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar says persons moving within the country are not migrants

The Wuhan virus pandemic and the ensuing lockdown made several workers working in different parts of the country to return to their home states as some of the employers left them in lurch. With no public transport, some of them had to walk several kilometres to reach their homes. Later, Shramik Special Trains were started to help these people reach their home states.

In light of this, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said that calling these people as ‘migrants’ detaches them from the idea of nationality.

“People going from one state to the other are being called ‘pravasi’ (migrant). Why? This is one country, there is one nationality. A person going from one place to the other in the country isn’t a migrant. If they go outside the country then they are.” CM Nitish Kumar said.

He said that irrespective of the fact whether she/he moves around within the country, they are not migrants and added that people who had moved to other states for employment were in great distress since their employers did not take good care of them.

The Chief Minister further said that “people who have returned from other states do not need to leave because of helplessness” and that “arrangements for employment are being done”.

Ramblings of a guilty human

It is high time that we all realize in this pandemic scenario that mother earth is not for humans alone, especially for humans with no sense of humanity. A Google search would tell us the fact that, an elephant gets killed every days.

Surprisingly many MP’s and celebrities have raised their voices against the death of the pregnant elephant which was killed. It was reported that, as she walked on the streets, the locals gave her a cracker-laden pineapple to eat and the fruit exploded in her mouth killing her.

Some people have said that this is not to be seen as a case of stand-alone incident of extreme violence but just a sample of the extreme cruelty meted out by humans to animals. However, this incident has shaken the consciences of people. Hence, it is important that we as humans, at least care to have some learning from the sacrifice of this gentle hearted elephant.

It is learnt that the elephant had suffered serious injuries in her mouth due to the miserable explosion of crackers and she kept on walking around in pain for quite some time. During the time, she didn’t harm a single human being. Even when she ran in searing pain in the streets of the village, she didn’t crush a single home. The Elephant had gone to a lonely water stream area for her last minutes. One wonders what would have been in her mind as she lay calm standing in the water.

To make the vision more definite and sound, how would a normal person react when he/she is in pain? Would we be such a wise headed like the Elephant? Though knowing that the pain is because of a human being and later not harming a single human being, isn’t it something that should bother every living human being? Will the deserved criminals be punished in the eye of the public in the same painful way? Is our law strong enough that to not let such incident happen in future? Or will this just be another incident that will be forgotten eventually? It is in these situations that we wish we had a super hero or who can get justice and brutally punish those who take things for granted!

Let us know that more than the sympathy a small gesture of empathy towards the elephant would make us a little less genre of the human society.

Deaths in Shramik trains not due to hunger or starvation: BJP’s Shahnawaz Hussain responds to Congress’s Abishek Manu Singhvi

Senior BJP leader and spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Wednesday, in his response to the press briefing by Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that none of the deaths that happened in Shramik Special Trains were attributed to hunger as per post-mortem reports. He said that the causes of death were natural and added that it was unfortunate that the deaths have been politicised.

Mr. Hussain gave the details of person who died and the cause of their death as per post-mortem reports. Dashrath Prajapati (30) was suffering from a chronic kidney condition, Ram Ratan Ground (63) was a Divyand since childhood (physically chanllenged) and had a deteriorating health condition as per the video state given his family member, Ibrar Ahmad died of a brain stroke and not due to dehydration as claimed, Arbina Khatoon was suffering from pre-existing mental ailments according to the video statement of Arbina’s relative.

Highlighting the fare rationale for the special trains, Mr. Hussain said that Indian Railways on an average gives 43% subsidy on the travel cost. The cost borne by the Centre for these trains is higher due to vacancy in train berths as a result of social distancing norms and also the cost arising due to the train plying empty on its return journey. He said that the migrants being charged for the ticket was a blatant lie as state governments paid the remaining 15% of the fare.

As of June 3, 4197 Shramik Special Trains have transported 58 lakh passengers to their homestates and more than 1.5 crore meals and 2 crore packaged water bottles have been provided by Indian Railways free of cost, Mr. Hussain said.

He said that the BJP is not here to do petty politics and added that the government believes in tackling problems head on.

Ibuprofen a potential corona cure?

White pills and pill bottles

A British research team is running trials to test if Ibuprofen could possibly be a treatment for COVID-19. This drug, which is an anti-inflammatory, as well as a pain-killer, could potentially help in treating those infected with the coronavirus.

Since this is a low-cost treatment, it is believed that this could possibly keep patients off the ventilator.

This trial, which is termed the Liberate, will subject half the patients to Ibuprofen in addition to the ongoing treatments. Some people already take this lipid capsule form of the drug for conditions like arthritis. The trial will use a special formulation of ibuprofen rather than the regular tablets that people might usually buy.

Despite the concerns surrounding Ibuprofen as a potential treatment, as well as France’s health minister Olive Veran strongly vouching against it, a review by the Commission on Human Medicines concluded that it was safe to take for corona symptoms. For mild coronavirus symptoms, the NHS advises people try paracetamol first, as it has fewer side-effects than ibuprofen and is the safer choice for most people.

Google removes ‘Mitron’ and ‘Remove Chinese Apps’ from playstore

Google has removed the popular Indian made app that sought to remove Chinese apps like Tik Tok, UC Browser, Alibaba and other Chinese apps from phone. It said that it was removed for violating its Deceptive Behaviour Policy that prohibits software from encouraging or misleading users into removing or disabling third party apps.

The app, developed by Indian based OneTouch AppLabs had hit 50 lakh downloads in just over 2 weeks of its launch. The company had claimed that it was developed only for ‘educational purposes’. The app also had a good reach in Australia where it had topped the tools sections.

Earlier, Google had deleted the Mitron app, considered to be a rival to TikTok. However, Mitron app has a shady background. The source code of the app was purchased by an IIT Roorkee student named Shivank Agarwal from a Pakistan based company called QBoxus which had come out with an app called TicTac similar to TikTok. The TicTac app was rebranded as Mitron without making any changes to the source code. Cybersecurity experts have warned that the app is unsafe as it doesn’t come with an additional firewall.

Both these apps became popular due to the prevailing anti-China sentiment coming in the wake of the Wuhan corona virus and also the recent border skirmishes.

Queensland and St. John’s school sitting on temple lands flourish while the temples languish

Queensland amusement park near Poonamalle in Chennai, that finds itself in news quite often for untoward accidents, has been sitting on the temple lands belonging to Kasi Viswanathar Temple and Sri Venugopalaswamy Temple of Pappanchatram near Poonamalle in Kanchipuram district since its inception. The amusement park owner Selvaraj, popularly known as Oorvasi Selvaraj owing to soap-making business, had taken the land for lease in 1991 under the pretext of carrying out farming activities. However, he had violated the agreement by indulging in commercial activities.

Selvaraj founded Oorvasi Soap Company, Queensland and King’s Engineering College. He was the Vice President of South Chennai branch of Indian National Congress from 1990 to 1997. He was elected MLA from Srivaikuntam constituency in 2006. Back then, he was the third richest MLA in the assembly according to sworn affidavits next only to Karunanidhi and Jalalithaa. He died in 2009. His wife Nalini Selvaraj is prominent Christian evangelist.

The Kasi Viswanathar Temple and Sri Venugopalaswamy temple own 177.7 acres of land. The Queensland amusement park and the St. John’s International Residential School which is a kilometre away from Queensland are sitting on the lands owned by these temples which now remain in ruins while both the amusement park and the schools flourish.

In 2008, the local court ruled to a petition filed by the temple administration that the lessee had violated the lease agreement by indulging in commercial activities. An appeal against the court order was dismissed in 2013. The St. John’s school authorities were also a party to this suit.

In 1983, the Dasaprakash Group sought to buy the lands behind the 10 acres it had bought near the St John’s International Residential School. They had said that they would take the land on lease by paying the HR&CE department. The temple management had opposed the move then and filed a petition at the Madras High Court to which the Court struck down the Dasaprakash deal and ruled that the lands belonged to the temple post which the group sold off the land left the place.

However, the HR&CE department are yet to give the registration document of the temple lands to the temple management. Repeated reminders by temple caretakers have fallen on deaf ears.

The Queensland and St. John’s school had paid the lease rent in the first year to avoid paying taxes. However, they haven’t shed a dime ever since.

Meanwhile both the temples tell a tale of dismay. Swarajya as part of its heritage programme had published an article on the same detailing the poor conditions of the temple and the Gurukkals of the temple. The temple does not even have a compound wall now.

Plants are growing on the walls and ceiling of the temple. The walls are cracking and wearing away. Both the temples look dark inside with poor lighting.

Quoting the Gurukkals, it was reported that one of them drew a meagre ₹300 per month as salary from HR&CE and 5 years of arrears were still pending. Another Gurukkal gets ₹6000 from a devotee sabha along with ₹1000 as travel allowance. It was reported that there was not even enough income to offer cooked rice as neivedhyam (food offering) to the deity.

The temple earlier had two big mandapams within the premises to conduct marriages and other events. Today, there exists no sign of such big mandapams except for the damaged ruins of it. It is said that Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswathi Swamigal of the Kanchi Mutt used to stay in the temple premises atleast 15 days in a year. Today, goats and cows freely enter and wander around the temple. People come to the temple on days of Pradosham and other important festivals.

St. John’s International School and the Queensland Amusement Park are located on 177.7 acres of land that was originally 1500 acres bought by a zamindar named Venkaiah in the 19th century. He had donated nearly 1000 acres of land where we have the Chembaramkkam Lake today. With the government gobbling the remaining as poromboke land, only 177.7 acres of the land remains which has also been encroached by Queensland and St. John’s School. The people of the area have stayed mum since some of their properties have also been located on temple lands.

The Gurukkals and the temple authorities hope that their efforts to retrieve the lands on which the encroachers now sit and mint money will help the temple have a decent income for poojas and maintenance.
