Meet the girl who dresses up as a guy everyday to sell ‘sukku coffee’ in her locality

Rahmat Banu,  a widowed mother of three, has been dressing up her daughter as a guy, to sell sukku coffee in Krishnagiri. She had lost her husband six years ago in an accident. She has three kids, out of whom the eldest daughter has been married off. She has been disguising her second daughter as a guy to sell sukku coffee in their locality along with her second-grader son.

This family has been grappling with poverty ever since the death of their father. Their plight has been elevated by the current lockdown.

In this regard, her daughter who is currently in 7th grade decided to help her family financially, and is selling sukku coffee for this sake. Because of the lack of safety of girl children in the society, especially in smaller towns, this girl has been disguised as a guy by Rahmat Banu. Her mother had cut off her hair short enough to resemble a boy and has been dressed up in trousers and shirts, in order to sell sukku coffee.

Charge-sheets filed against 250 in Palghar Sadhu Lynching Case, religious angle denied

The Maharashtra Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) investigating the gruesome lynching of Sadhus in Palghar have filed two separate charge sheets totalling nearly 12,000 pages, naming over 250-plus accused.

“Yes, the charge sheets have been filed before the Palghar Sessions Court. Each runs into some 6,000-pages and have named 126 accused each,” Special Public Prosecutor Satish Maneshinde told IANS.

In the charge sheet, the lynching of Hindu Sadhus have been attributed to rumour-mongering and the murder had no religious angle to the crime.

The lynching of the two men in saffron cloths was captured on video and shook the conscience of the entire nation. Three men were brutally attacked right in front of the police who stood as spectators.

The filing of the charge sheets signifies the end of the investigations into the lynching near Gadchinchale village in the district.

However, the investigation will continue into other related aspects of the triple crime on the night of April 16.

The names of the three men who were beaten to death were Kalpavrikshagiri Maharaj (70) his assistant Sushilgiri Maharaj (35) of the Juna Akhada, and their driver Nilesh Telgade (30).

They were on their way to Gujarat Surat for a funeral during the lockdown. It has been alledged that these men were mistaken as robbers or kidnappers and a huge mob surrounded the police station.

These men were beaten with stones and sticks by a mob of more than 100 people in front of the police.

On Tuesday (July 14) Additional Sessions Judge D N Keluskar rejected the bail pleas by 25 accused in the case. The prosecution had gathered pieces of evidence against the accused.

The evidence includes videos, mobile Call Data Records, CCTV evidence recorded by the Forest Department check-post, bloodstains and possible fingerprints and other technical evidence against the accused.

Siva is a lawyer from the 15th ward of Pammal municipality near Pallavaram in Chengalpattu district.

He is known for involving in various social welfare activities in the area. He is said to be a voice for innocent people, especially those affected by politicians.

It was reported that the DMK city secretary of the area V. Karunanidhi and his son Kannapparaj considered Siva as a nuisance.

Because of this, Kannapparaj and Siva had engaged in a tiff and the former had threatened latter with dire consequences. Later, Siva had given a police complaint at the Sankar Nagar police station. The police had told Siva that they would register a case on Kannapparaj.

Meanwhile, Kannapparaj had gone to Siva’s office where he attacked him and threatened to not engage in any social work in the area.

Following this, Siva again lodged a complaint with the police and a case has been registered on Kannapparaj.

Karuppar Koottam – DMK links exposed

On Wednesday evening, the Central Crime Branch arrested one Senthilvasan Muthusamy belonging to the Karuppar Koottam Youtube channel after cases were registered from different quarters for their vile and abusive video on Hindu God Murugan.

In the video, Surendar Natarajan, the man who runs Karuppar Koottam, makes derogatory references to Kandhasashti Kavasam, a hymn dedicated to Lord Murugan. Surendar Natarajan surrendered at the Ariyankuppam police station in Puducherry on June 16.

Karuppar Koottam is a group of “Periyarists” (followers of E.V. Ramasamy Naicker known by his followers as Periyar), Communist ideologues and DMK sympathizers. They have been indulging in targeted attacks against Hindus posting videos abusing Hindu Gods, Hindus and Brahmins for a long time under the garb of ‘rationalism’. In the series titled “Aabasa Puranam” (Porn Puranam), members of the Karuppar Kootam (especially Surendhar Natarajan) use vulgar language and trash-talk Hindu Gods like Murugan, Saraswathi, Brahma, etc.

While the Tiruchirapalli West DMK MLA K.N. Nehru had in a statement denied any connection between the party and Karuppar Koottam and blamed certain ‘politically ignorant’ people for carrying out a false propaganda, evidences show otherwise.

Pictures have surfaced that establishes the close relationship shared by Karuppar Koottam and the DMK. In fact, it has led to questions if whether the DMK IT wing is behind the channel itself.

Palanivel Thiagarajan DMK MLA from Madurai Central constituency and the head of DMK’s IT wing can be seen having a luncheon with some of the members of the Karuppar Koottam. This picture was uploaded in social media on 29th April 2019, ten days after the 2019 Lok Sabha General Elections in Tamil Nadu by none other than arrested member of the Karuppar Koottam gang Senthilvasan Muthusamy.

In another picture, Surendar Natarajan can be seen on top a campaign vehicle holding a mic and canvassing votes for the DMK.

The DMK is also a party known for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. Earlier, the DMK Chief had on multiple occasions said that if one were to look at the meaning of the mantras chanted during Hindu wedding ceremonies, it would turn out to be ‘disgusting’.

Surendar Natarajan of Karuppar Koottam who put abusive and vulgar videos of Hindu Gods and Hindus, surrendered at the Ariyankuppam police station in Puducherry.

Talking to the press, he has once again went on an abusive rant against Hindu God Murugan and Kandha Sashti Kavasam.

He said “If someone says something is right, it doesn’t become right automatically. In this nation, there are more mosquitoes than humans. Majority are mosquitoes. We can’t say mosquitoes are more powerful than humans right?”

“If majority are believing in something and it cannot be questioned how is it right?”, he asks.

“They say that I criticized Kandha Sashti Kavasam. What I am saying is Kandha Sashti Kavasam contains porn. I am saying instead of that perform archanai using Tamil words. But today in majority of Hindu Murugan temples, archanai is happening in Sanskrit. Why are you performing archanai in Sanskrit for Tamil God Murugan in Tamil Nadu? Why are you having it in vada mozhi (Sanskrit)? He can’t understand Tamil? I don’t see any protest by Hindu groups saying that they will do away with Vedas and do poojas only in Tamil. Will they do it?? They won’t. Because their job is to uphold Sanskrity” he said.

He said that he surrendered in Puducherry as the police had been after him, his comrades and family that and that he didn’t want to inconvenience them. He said that an anticipatory bail has been applied.

“I could have absconded till I got the anticipatory bail. But the BJP government has been after me. The BJP government I am referring to is the ADMK government. ADMK government has come after me to placate them. Because of that they tortured me, my family and my comrades. It is for their welfare that I surrendered.” he said.

To a question on why he derogated Lord Murugan and Kanda Sashti Kavasam, he says “I did not derogate it. I did not say anything out of Kanda Sashti Kavasam. What is the meaning of pittam rendil peruvel kaaka? Majority of Tamilians don’t understand pure Tamil. To make them understand, I told colloquially that the line refers to Murugan sending Vel (spear) to protect buttocks.”

Referring to another line in Kandha Sashti Kavasam – ‘Vatta kudhathai vadivel kaaka’, he says  “Vatta Kudham means the hole through which one goes motion (anus). I will come from believer’s point of view itself. Murugan and his Vel given to him by his mother Sakthi which is meant to be regarded in high stature is being sent to protect the anus? Am I insulting Murugan or that song?”

“Only if you ask Murugan to protect part by part he will protect you is it? He won’t protect you if you ask him to protect the whole body is it? You are only denigrating Murugan. Especially the Hindutva groups and their Puranas are insulting Murugan. I am only explaining and making it clear to the people. I haven’t said anything extra. I have just explained it colloquially. If that is problem, we will face it legally.” he said.

Surendar Natarajan of Karuppar Koottam who put abusive and vulgar videos of Hindu Gods and Hindus surrendered at the Ariyankuppam police station in Puducherry.

Karuppar Koottam had abused Hindu God Murugan revered as the Tamil God in Tamil Nadu by making derogatory references to Kandhasashti Kavasam, a hymn dedicated to Lord Murugan.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) had arrested M Senthil Vasan, 49-year old man part of Karuppar Koottam Youtube channel on Wednesday evening, two days after cases were registered from different quarters.

Earlier, the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP had filed complaint after the issue gained traction. A complaint was filed by a BJP functionaries – RC Paul Kanakaraj, advocate wing’s head of BJP state unit stating that Surendar had posted videos against Hindu religion.

Complaints were filed by Tamil Nadu BJP Youth Wing President Vinoj P. Selvam and Aswathaman, a member of the party’s legal cell as well.

Osmania hospital flooded with rainwater for the second time this week

Patients admitted at the Osmania hospital in Hyderabad suffer as rainwater and drain water flood the hospital. It is situated on the banks of River Musi and is in a state of mess as rains lash the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Due to heavy rains, the hospital building has been flooded twice this week, resulting in panic among patients. This hospital has been a state of neglect since the last few years and despite constant reassurances to strengthen infrastructure, none have materialized. Several activists have also come out in support and have voiced their concerns on Twitter.

Several videos shared by people in the hospital as well as the staff has been a cause of grave concern. They have expressed that this could aggravate the problems of those being treated for COVID-19, as well as become the reason for waterborne diseases to spread.

This hospital was constructed in the Nizam-era and is one of the biggest hospitals in the state of Telangana. It was constructed by the British architect Vincent Jerome Esch, who also designed Kolkata’s Victoria Memorial. Meanwhile, the state’s weather department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Hyderabad and its neighbouring cities. Roads have also been inundated due to lashing rains.

Ambani set to revolutionize education, launches Jio Glass

During the Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries Limited, Jio launched a mixed reality headset that aims to transform the virtual space. 

They demonstrated how it will work when it becomes available for use.

It plans to develop features such as holographic content and three-dimensional interactions along with the usual video conferencing requirements.

It is designed by Jio Platforms’ Tesseract subsidiary and weighs just 75gms. It comes with personalized audio and a simple cable that can be attached to a smartphone.

RIL said that Jio Glass is primarily designed for teachers and students to conduct holographic classes by enabling three-dimensional virtual rooms. Besides, virtual meetings can also be conducted.

To show how one could easily perform meetings in Jio Glass, President of RIL Kiran Thomas made a call to Aakash and Isha Ambani, the board directors of Reliance Jio. In the call, Aakash Ambani was shown as a three-dimensional avatar and Isha Ambani joined using a two-dimensional video call interface. All he had to say was – “Hello Jio, please call Aakash and Isha.”

The company also stated that Jio Glass will make use of the 5G services which they are working on and will begin testing soon.

According to Reliance Industries, Jio Glass will get support from 25 apps for now.

The glasses are backed by a spatial and directional XR sound system that operates all audio formats without any wired attachments. The headset has a high-resolution display, and there are vents in the frame for heat dissipation.

The company confirmed that they are collaborating with Google for their Jio products and are partnering to develop affordable smartphones,

 

Teenager dies from Bubonic plague in Mongolia

A 15-year-old boy is said to have died in China after contracting bubonic plague from Marmot meat. According to Dorj Narangerel, spokesperson for Mongolia’s Ministry of Health, he had died after contracting it from hunting Marmots. Tests confirmed the teenager had contracted bubonic plague and authorities imposed quarantine measures in the Tugrug district of Gobi-Altai province.

Following this, the region has been kept under quarantine, to prevent the spread of the disease. Authorities have already isolated 15 people who came into contact with the teenager. All of them are healthy.

Marmots are large ground squirrels, a type of rodent, that have historically been linked to plague outbreaks in the region. This rodent has the capability of spreading this plague, which was dubbed the ‘black death’ in the Middle Ages. The plague killed an estimated 50 million people in Europe during the Black Death pandemic in the Middle Ages, but modern antibiotics can prevent complications and death if administered quickly enough. Bubonic plague, which is one of the plague’s three forms, causes painful, swollen lymph nodes, as well as fever, chills, and coughing.

Earlier this month, two brothers from Eastern Mongolia were reported to have contracted this plague from the same rodent.This prompted the neighbouring country of Russia to issue an alert regarding the same. Mongolia has recorded 692 cases of marmot plague from 1928 to 2018. Of those, 513 died of the disease, equivalent to a mortality rate of just over 74%.

China too issued a nationwide bubonic plague alert earlier in July following a case in the Northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the country.

Plot gets thicker in Swapna Suresh Gold Smuggling Case, ISIS involvement suspected, CM Pinarayi under scanner

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has suspected terror funding in the Swapna Suresh case, as intelligence reports claim that the Islamic State (IS) might have links to this racket. They argued that the accused including Swapna should not be granted bail as they have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). They also claim to have strong evidence against Swapna and the others and that they have to be interrogated in order to find the other links.

Swapna’s call records also point to connections with SIMI leader and presnet CPM Minister KT Jaleel. Close to 9 calls have been made between them, and he is now under the radar. However, Jaleel has said that he had only contacted Swapna regarding Ramzan food kits to the UAE. Notably, Swapna had not been working with the Consulate since 2019. Along with him, the Chief Minister and his Principal Secretary have also been found to have been in touch with the accused of this case.

Call records show that, Sivasankar, former Principal Secretary to CM Pinarayi Vijayan, was found to be in regular touch with the key accused Sarith and Swapna. He was also interrogated by Customs officials.

However, CM Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters on Tuesday that there were still no proper grounds for suspending Sivasankar from service. Sivasankar who  is considered to be very close to CM Pinarayi Vijayan as the former had come to the rescue of Pinarayi Vijayan during the Sprinklr data scam.

In another significant development,  intelligence reports have revealed that one of the accused is connected with the IS, and that the NIA is seeking to arrest Fazil Fareed, a Dubai resident, with the help of the Interpol.

The BJP has planned to launch a series of Satyagraha protests in connection with this, until Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan resigns.
