All references to ‘Halal’ removed from ‘Red Meat Manual’ of APEDA

halal kerala

In a significant move, Government of India has removed the word ‘Halal’ from the Red Meat Manual issued by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Earlier, it was brought to attention by digital media platform ‘Upword’ that the Red Meat Manual mandates ‘only Halal’ meat to be exported. The manual had problematic references that read “All animals must be slaughtered by Halal method in the presence of holy men approved by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind as per Islamic Shariyat, for certification”. There was even a section dedicated for Halal in the old manual.

Soon, APEDA clarified saying that Government of India does not mandate only Halal meat to be exported and that it was the requirement of majority of the importing countries. It added that Halal certification agencies are accredited directly by importing countries in which the government has no role.

However, realizing that the manual did sound like it made ‘Halal’ method of slaughtering mandatory, it has been changed now with the word ‘Halal’ removed from the manual completely. Other words with references to one particular relgion like ‘Islamic’, ‘Shariyat’, ‘Halal’, ‘Ulema’, etc.,  have also been deleted.

The section that read, “The animals are slaughtered by Halal System under the strict vigilance of recognised and registered Islamic body as per the tenets of Islamic Shariyat. The certificate for Halal is issued by the representatives of registered Islamic body under whose supervision, the slaughter is conducted in order to meet the requirement of importing countries” has also been removed.

What this means is that the manual which earlier seemed to mandate ‘Halal’ for export of meat making the industry a hegemony of Muslims now provides the opportunity to create an export market for ‘Jhatka’ meat.

Halal in Arabic means ‘permissible’. In the Halal method of slaughtering, the animal or the bird is killed by cutting through its jugular vein, carotid artery and windpipe that drains out all the blood, leading to the animal/bird’s slow death. Halal certification mandates that the process must be performed only by a Muslim and the name of Allah must be invoked while slaughtering. Any deviation from the mandated process renders the meat ‘haram’ (forbidden).

Halal is seen as imposition of Islamic religious beliefs and practices over non-Muslims. It is also seen as leading to monoculturalism and monopoly as they restrict culinary diversity and keep non-Muslims out of business and employment opportunities.

With the deletion of ‘Halal’ from ‘Red Meat Manual’ of APEDA, the impression that India, a secular country, openly endorsing the religious practice of one particular community has come to an end.

Madhya Pradesh CM to introduce law that lets govt auction off assets belonging to stone-pelters

In a bold move to punish stone-pelters, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has declared that his government is bringing in a stringent law that will allow the government to auction off the assets of stone-pelters to recover the damages, Indian Express reports.

After the Delhi riots of 2019/2020, there have been several cases of stone-pelting by protesters which have caused damages in hundreds of crores to both public and private properties. However, to put an end to this menace, the MP government will penalise the guilty who cause damage to public property or individual.

Chouhan said,  “stone-pelters are enemies of society; whoever they are their properties would be auctioned to compensate losses.”

“Till now, it (stone-pelting) was considered a minor offence but we are bringing a law which will make the offenders pay,” the BJP leader said.

Often during such protests, miscreants target down shops and even homes and in many times they have burned them to ground. The new law will not only punish them by serving a sentence but also ensure that their properties are auctioned off to reimburse the damage caused by them.

Chouhan explained, “If someone voices their issues peacefully then democracy prevails, but no one can be given permission to damage public property…those damaging public property will not only face stringent punishment but will also have to pay for damage to public property,” he said.

Utter Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath was the first leader to take such action against rioters by starting the process of sealing the properties of those protesters who were involved in creating violence during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) protests across the state.

After the Bhumi-Pooja of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has started a donation drive for the construction of the temple.

However, MP the decision to auction off the assets of stone-pelters came after alleged attacks on rallies promoting a donation drive in Muslim dominated areas in Ujjain, Indore and Mandsaur districts.

In Madhya Pradesh, CM Chouhan’s cabinet has already approved the Freedom to Religion Bill, 2020 or the ubiquitous ‘Love Jihad’ law, with with a provision of ten years imprisonment and a heavy penalty

Alibaba CEO Jack Ma goes missing after criticising Xi Jinping

Alibaba’s CEO Jack Ma has vanished from the public eye since October 24, which has become a cause for concern. Notably, he had commented on Chinese President Xi Jinping just before going missing. He has been called the loudest billionaire more than once for being vocal about his views.

He had been heavily critical of China’s “pawnshop financial regulators and state-owned banks.” “Today’s financial system is the legacy of the Industrial Age. We must set up a new one for the next generation and young people. We must reform the current system,” Ma said in the speech. According to The Wall Street Journal, officials in Beijing dressed down Ma and suspended the $37billion initial public offering of his Ant Group on the direct order of President Xi in November.

He went on to call for reforms in the regulation system, and called out on the government’s policies, saying that they were stifling the growth of Chinese businesses. Shortly after, he was advised against voicing concerns about the Communist government’s policy decisions.

Following this, he was set to appear as a judge in the final episode of his own talent show, ‘Africa’s Business Heroes’, but mysteriously did not turn up for it and as a consequence, his photographs were removed from the show’s website, The Telegraph, UK, reported. “Due to a schedule conflict Mr Ma could no longer be part of the finale judge panel of Africa’s Business Heroes earlier this year (2020),” an Alibaba spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Kamatchipuri Adheenam lashes out at DMK for denigrating Kandha Puranam and using it for party’s publicity

It has become a trend to slander of religious beliefs of the Hindus. Despite the devotees, spiritual leaders, Hindu organizations and political parties like the BJP and Indu Makkal Katchi condemning such incidents, the tirade against one particular faith continues to happen with the DK, DMK, VCK and Communist groups leaving no opportunity to spew hatred against Hindus and Hindu beliefs.

In yet another incident of DMK denigrating Hindu faith, the party has sought publicity by slandering the Kandapurana. The verse ‘‛வான்முகில் வழாதுபெய்க, மலிவளம் சுரக்க மன்னர் கோன்முறை அரசு செய்க, குறைவிலாது உயிர்கள் வாழ்க, நான்மறை அறங்கள் ஓங்க, நற்றவம் வேள்வி மல்க மேன்மைகொள் சைவ நீதி விளங்குக உலகமெல்லாம்” is featured in the Kanda Puranam. The DMK has distorted it in praise and appreciation of late leader M Karunanidhi and present DMK chief MK Stalin, for the the purpose of party’s publicity.

In light of this, Kamatchipuri Aadeenam Sreesivalingeswara Swamy has strongly condemned the improper usage of the Kandha Puranam by a DMK MLA for publicity. , “The Kandapurana song is like the national anthem, a song that the that is sung in devotion for world welfare. The lyrics released by the political party denigrate the song that people sing in devotion. Political parties should stick to focusing only on their principles. Acts that denigrate religious beliefs must be abandoned. If such acts continue, there will be dire consequences.”

Just a few months back, a rabid YouTube channel named Karuppar Koottam run by a group of ‘Periyarists’ with links to the DMK had denigrated Kandha Sashti Kavasam, a devotional hymn dedicated to Hindu God Murugan.

‘Stalin can never become CM’: MK Alagiri shreds Stalin to pieces at Madurai meet

MK Alagiri addressed his supporters in Madurai on Sunday, where he said, “This meeting was the first step to combat the conspirators and traitors. I turned Madurai, the stronghold of the MGR, into the stronghold of the DMK. When Vaiko left the DMK, not a single person left the party.”

The estranged brother of present DMK chief M.K. Stalin said that his brother had betrayed him and added that he will ensure Stalin never becomes Chief Minister.

“Stalin can never become Chief Minister. I and my supporters will ensure that.” he said.

“They had expelled me because posters welcoming me for the General Committee were put up? Aren’t you sticking posters for yourself? You have been sticking posters for yourself as ‘future CM’. But you have not been able to become CM. You have printed posters as ‘future CM’ to be put up every now and then. It is not at all going to happen”, Alagiri  ripped apart Stalin.

Explaining as to why he was going to contest in the Thirumangalam constituency, he said, “Money is not the reason for Thirumangalam’s election victory. It is because of our hard work. Stalin and the Maran brothers asked me to work on the Thirumangalam election. If Thirumangalam fails, then the DMK regime will be out of hand. I am still one of you.

He added that he will soon make an announcement about his political stance as well as news of forming a new party. He beseeched the audience to support him, no matter what his decision is to be. It is to be noted that there had been speculations of Alagiri forming an alliance with Rajini if he were to start a political party.

DMK cadres promise money for those attending Gram Sabha meet, people end up getting ‘Tea and Vadai’ instead

In a tragically comic incident, people who were promised money by DMK cadres to attend the party’s Gram Sabha meet were left high and dry with just tea and vadai.

Residents of Malaiyadipatti near Rajapalayam in Virudhunagar district were made to attend the Gram Sabha meet presided by DMK MLA S. Thangapandian and District Secretary Ramachandran. They were promised money and other gifts for which tokens were also issued. Believing their words, people attended the meeting.

However, they were just given a single cup of tea and vadai at the end of the meeting. Reportedly, some of them were not even given the vadai.

Sensing trouble, the DMK organizers fled the scene with empty vessels who were chased by dismayed people including children.

Mangaluru: Used condoms and fake currency notes with hateful scribbles found in temple hundi

In a shocking turn of events, used condoms and fake currency notes with abusive scribbles have been found in the hundi (donation boxes) of three Hindu temples in Mangaluru, Karnataka. Two of these temples — Bhagavan Shree Babbuswamy Kshetra and Bhagavan Shree Daivaraja Kordabbu Daivasthana — are situated in the city’s Attavara area.

Pictures of the fake currency notes were shared on social media by concerned citizens. One ₹200 fake currency note had a crucifix scribbled on it and the face of Mahatma Gandhi on the note was disfigured. Another ₹20 fake currency note had a hateful message scribbled on it in Kannada. “Muslims and pig-like Hindus should be beaten up and killed. Lord Jesus Christ is the only God worthy of worship”, the message read.

The staff at the temple and religious leaders have expressed their anger over the incident, and have demanded that the culprits be caught at the earliest. In a press meet, MLA Vedavyas Kamath condemned the incident and said that strict proceedings will be initiated against the perpetrators. He also added that he has instructed the authorities to nab the culprits as soon as possible.

This incident comes only days after the city’s police arrested two men believed to be responsible for the graffiti hailing terror outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba and Taliban and seeking their help to eliminate ‘Sanghis’ and ‘Manuvadis’. Vandalism of Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh is also continuing unabated, with new such events coming to light almost every day.

Rabid Islamist preacher Zakir Naik says temple has no place in Islamic country, backs demolition of Hindu temple in Pakistan

In his latest video, fugitive Muslim preacher Zakir Naik has said that temples should not be constructed in an Islamic country and justified the torching and razing down of the Hindu temple in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan.

The endorsement by the radical Islamist preacher comes in the light of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan saying that his government would rebuild the Hindu temple using provincial government funds.

Earlier in July 2020, the controversial Islamist preacher had voiced against the Pakistani government’s move of allowing to construct a Hindu temple near Islamabad when he said that the Imran Khan government has committed a grave sin (haram) as Sharia (Islamic law) does not allow for an Islamic nation to pay or donate to a place of worship of other religions, be it a temple or a church.
