Terrorists attack Kabul University leaving 19 dead and several injured, ISIS claims responsibility

Terrorists with weapons attacked the Kabul University in Afghanistan, leaving 19 dead and several injured. They stormed the premises and launched a volley of attacks onto an unassuming gathering that had been attending a literary event and book fair titled “Afghanistan and Iran book exhibition”. Most of those killed were students who were part of the event. A dozen high-ranking government officials, including ministers and the Iranian ambassador, were expected to attend.

Notably, this fair had been presided over by the Iranian ambassador who had barely escaped the attack. Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency reported on Sunday that Iranian Ambassador Bahador Aminian and cultural attache Mojtaba Noroozi were scheduled to inaugurate the fair, which was to host some 40 Iranian publishers.

Five hours into the fighting, sporadic grenade explosions and automatic weapons fire echoed down the empty streets surrounding the university’s fenced compound. Afghan troops stood guard. Earlier, students were seen fleeing for their lives from the site. Distressing images posted online showed what appeared to be the bodies of killed students lying by desks and chairs. Several survivors later recounted stories of horror to the media.

Interior ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said 19 people were killed and 22 more wounded. He said that there was an investigation underway in this issue and that it was unclear as to how the attackers had procured weapons.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the terrorist attack and called the act cowardly.

Sadhguru’s latest journey to explore the spiritual side of America

This September, Sadhguru, founder of Isha Foundation, set off on a 10,000-mile journey, across the United States to discover the spiritual side of America. In this edition of the ‘Of Motorcycles and a Mystic’, which kicked off on 17th September 20, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev traversed through 16 states with the goal of delving deeper into the history, culture and the mysteries of Indigenous Peoples in the country. He drove via Missouri, Illinois, Wyoming, Utah and beyond.

At one time, more than 10 million Indigenous Peoples lived in the United States as we know it. But centuries of wars and conquests have led to them being expelled from their homelands. According to the US Census Bureau, Indigenous Peoples constitute just around 2% of the country’s population at present.

During these weeks of travel, the Sadhguru and his team visited many landmarks along the way, including the Grand Canyon, Little Bighorn National Monument (Wyoming), Bryce, Zion, Mojave Desert, Mato Tipila, Arches National Parks, and the Custer National Park (Montana) among others.

Sadhguru, who established the Isha Institute of Inner-sciences (III) on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee on the Trail of Tears, said, “About seventeen years ago, I came in touch with the certain spiritual aspect of Native Americans in a very powerful way when I was in Tennessee that was probably the most painful moment of my life – I saw such pain, resentment and shame in that space, that the very land that I stood on was soaked with it. I thought we must do something. Because there is pain, because people suffer, the spiritual dimension of the work is important. I’ve been interested in Native American culture for a very long time but my exposure was limited. Now this pandemic gave me freedom from my regular schedules so I decided this is the time to do it. And being on a motorcycle, I’m socially well distanced from everybody.”

Along the way, Sadhguru spent Indigenous Peoples’ Day on October 12 in conversation with Taboo, a rapper from the Grammy-winning Black Eyed Peas. Taboo is part of Mexican Native American. The founder of Isha Foundation was also invited by Hollywood star Will Smith at his home to meet with his family. “Sadhguru is in town. I have been following him for a while. He wrote a wonderful book called Inner Engineering. I want my family to meet spiritual people, to start interacting with people who are not hooked on the material world,” Will Smith said in a behind-the-scenes video shared by Sadhguru on Instagram.

Last week, Sadhguru also interacted with legendary boxer Mike Tyson ahead of his much-anticipated return to the ring to face Roy Jones Jr. They discussed finding inner peace in a crisis. Sadhguru also featured in “Nas Talks”, hosted by Israeli vlogger Nuseir Yassin, who is popularly known for his Nas Daily vlogs.

Pak considering to slap treason case against PML-N leader Sardar Ayaz who said Gen Bajwa and FM Qureshi pleaded for the release of Abhinandan

Just days after Sardar Ayaz, a member of Pakistan National Assembly who belongs to the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) dropped a bombshell in the assembly that, it was under pressure from the Indian government that led to the release of  Indian Air Force pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, the Pakistan government is considering registering a charge of treason against him.

Ayaz, who was speaking in the National Assembly had said that  “legs were shaking and forehead perspiring” at a meeting of Pakistan’s top leaders, including Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, wherein Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi pleaded to release Wing Commander Abhinandan, saying if he was not released, India would attack Pakistan

“For God’s sake, let him (Abhinandan Varthaman) go back now because India is attacking Pakistan at 9 PM in the night”, Foreign Minister Qureshi had apprently told during that meeting.

This incident had taken place after India launched airstrikes on Balakot which housed the terror training camps of Jeish-e-Mohhmad, the terror group responible for carrying out the Pulwama suicide attack that led to the death of forty Indian Security personals.

In his speech Ayaz had also mentioned that Prime Minister Imran Khan had skipped the high-level meeting, which was attended by top leadership, including Gen Bajwa and Foreign Minister Qureshi.

Immeadetley posters of Sadiq Ayaz with the name “traitor” could be seen the the streets of Lahore and the poster reads “Mir Sadiq, Mir Jaffar… Ayaz Sadiq.” Mir Jaffar is a name synonymous with betrayel and treason as he as was the one who helped the British in the battle of Plassey  and gave the decisive victory of the British East India Company over the Nawab of Bengal Siraj-ud-Daulah.

Reacting to this accusation, PML-N called this move to lable Ayaz as a trator as a move to “awarding traitor certificates” to Imran Khan’s political opponents.

Kerala: Minor SC girl raped by a comrade of Communist party dies

After being raped by a local leader who belongs to the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth-wing of CPM, a minor girl belonging to a Scheduled Caste community succumbed to her burns after she committed suicide in Kattappana in Idukki district.

The minor girl who set herself ablaze eight days ago suffering more than 60% burns,  succumbed to her injuries at the Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday.

The young girl was raped on October 21 by Manu Manoj, an autorickshaw driver and CPM-DYFI leader in Idukki district. The Dalit girl’s parents filed a complaint with the local police and two days after the incident the girl attempted suicide.

The rapist comrade Manu Manoj was absconding after the incident. However, he was later arrested and charged under sections of the POCSO Act.

To do some damage control, the rapist has been ousted from DYFI after his political links to the ruling CPM sparked a controversy. Also, DYFI in Idukki district has said that though he was a member in the party he did not hold any post.

Congress government in Rajasthan bans sale of firecrackers ahead of Deebavali, hits on the stomach of Sivakasi workers

With Deebavali approaching in a few days, the Congress government in Rajasthan, led by Ashok Gehlot, has imposed a ban on the sale of firecrackers in the entire state, reports Hindustan Times.

The reason given by Chief Minister Gehlot about the ban was to protect the people from the COVID-19 pandemic and help those who are suffering from other health issues.

In a tweet sent from the official twitter handle of the Rajasthan CM, Gehlot said, “State govt has taken the decision to ban the sale and bursting of firecrackers in order to protect health of #COVID19 infected patients & public from poisonous smoke emanating due to fireworks. In this challenging corona pandemic time, protecting lives of ppl is paramount for govt”.

Gehlot has categorically said, “People should desist from using crackers on Diwali,”. The CM also wants firecrackers to be banned during weddings and other events as well.

The pollution level in Rajasthan and the other northern states weeks ahead of Diwali has surged, however many feel the blanket ban on firecrackers is not justified and that the Congress government has willfully acquiesced to appease a certain minoroty.

Since the order given by the CM of Rajasthan, many on twitter have called out the pointless move that will have a severe impact on the livelihoods of the people in Sivakasi and cracker enterprises in Rajasthan.

Associate Prof (Math) at the IISc Bangalore Abhishek Banerjee said, “This year, bumper sales for festive season have rescued the Indian economy. For years, Hindu festivals have been blamed for all the problems in India. How about we take a moment to thank these same Hindu festivals?”

Women in the land of Sanathana Dharma

Just before when Goddess Durga, Kali, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and other feminine deities were to be venerated and celebrated across the country, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader and Chidambaram MP Thol.Thirumalavan on September 26, 2020 heaped his disgusting talks about women belonging to Hindu community. He said ” All women are prostitutes as per Hindu Dharma.. Manu Dharma..”.

This has led to a polarization in Tamil Nadu with the left, Periyarist, Islamic and missionary organizations supporting his statements. But at the ground level, Thirumavalavan has brought a bad name upon himself with his consistent tirade on Hinduism.

This brings us to the question – How does Hinduism view women? What is the position of women in Hinduism / Sanathana Dharma? This article will explore the historic nature of women worship and the way women are placed in the Hindu culture.

Women as Goddesses

Shaktism is the oldest form of the spiritual path in Indic Civilization in which Goddess is considered as supreme deity and every disciple is considered as a son to the goddess whose ultimate goal is to reach the mother. Shaktism dated back to the era of Vedas in which Rig Veda has verses praising the goddess.

While it is impossible to date the roots and origins of this everlasting Dharma, the modern-day worship of Goddess can be traced to the Indus/Saraswati civilization.

The philosophical development of women as mother began in Vedic age. In the famous Rig Vedic hymn Devi Sukta, the Goddess unambiguously declares:

“I am the Sovereign Queen; the treasury of all treasures; the chief of all objects of worship; whose all-pervading self-manifests all gods and goddesses; whose birthplace is in the midst of the causal waters; who in breathing forth gives birth to all created worlds, and yet extends beyond them, so vast am I in greatness.”

Further, during Gupta period Shaktism achieved its full glory with kings belonging to Gupta dynasty patronizing and following Shaktism.

In recent history, it was the mother of Shivaji, the greatest Maratha king, who was of influence in him from his young age to create Hindvi Swaraj against Islamic oppression.

Akka Mahadevi was a prominent figure of the Veerashaiva Bhakti movement of the 12th century Karnataka. Her Vachanas in Kannada, a form of poetry, are considered the most notable contribution to Kannada Bhakti literature. The Attukal Bhagavathy temple in Kerala is dedicated to goddess and women where men are not allowed to visit on certain days.

Recent developments related to Shaktism include the emergence of Bharat Mata (Mother India), the increasing visibility of Hindu female saints and gurus. Apart from all of these most of the sages like Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo worshipped this entire world as a divine feminine representation and achieved moksha by praying to the Goddess.

As one western commentator notes:

“Today just as 10,000 years ago, images of the Goddess are everywhere in India. You’ll find them painted on the sides of trucks, pasted to the dashboards of taxis, postered on the walls of shops. You’ll often see a color painting of the Goddess prominently displayed in Hindu homes. Usually, the picture is hung high on the wall so you have to crane your neck backward, looking up toward her feet. In India, Goddess worship is not a ‘cult,’ it’s a religion, an extraordinarily spiritually and psychologically mature tradition. Millions of people turn every day with a heartfelt yearning to the Mother of the Universe.”

The real question we need to ask is if Islam and Christianity will accept goddess or even accept women as a leading figure in spiritual enlightenment. Remember we are living in the 21st century and the left-liberal cabal does not have the courage to speak or fight for the proper dignified role of women in the spiritual process of Abrahamic religions.

Women as Rulers

In the Gupta period instances are not rare of women participating in administrative jobs. Prabhabati, the daughter of Chandra Gupta II performed administrative duties in her kingdom. Instances of women extending their phase of activities beyond the domestic circle are provided by the queen and queen regent in Kashmir, Rajasthan, Orissa, and Andhra.

Institutions were established for co-education. In the work called Amarkosh written in the Gupta era names of female teachers and professors are mentioned. They were the authors of Vedic scripts and ‘mantras‘.

Two hundred years before Alexander’s attack on India, Queen Nayanika was ruler and military commander of the Satavahana Empire of south-central India.

In 300 BC, Princess Kumara Devi married Prince Chandragupta, and they ruled their two kingdoms as co-regents. Queen Kurmadevi of Mevad commanded her armies on the battlefield in the late twelfth century. Apart from these, there are a lot of instances in which our independence movement against British has been carried on by then women rulers of princely states like Rani Laxmi Bhai.

While all sorts of baseless attributions are made to the practice of sati and jauhar, it is the Islamic conquest of India that led to the practice of jauhar and sati.  One profound example is killing of Raja Dahir, his wife, and daughters by Mohammed-Bin-Qasim in the 10th century, then they were sent off as sex slaves to Damascus. This type of slavery has resulted in the evolution of jauhar in western India.

Britishers in the thirst for conquering India had taken over all the princely states who did not have a direct male descendant using the draconian Doctrine of Lapse.

Women as Social Reformers

India has produced so many social reformers of which notably a large section of them are women. They have fought for social issues like any other men. In many cases, they have altered the course of our nation and influenced the opinions and even government policies.

Notable people like Savitrbhai Phule fought for women rights for Indians during British rule. She worked along with her husband Jyotirao Phule for the education of women and fought against discrimination among castes. While they critiqued and condemned the Hindu religion in their own right, they did not resort to malign or denigrate by spewing venom unlike Thol. Thirumavalavan and the EVR groups. Similarly, people like Ramabai Ranade and Sister Nivedita (born Margaret Elizabeth Noble) worked for the cause of education, medical and scientific research. Swami Vivekananda through his work emancipated and provided a conduit for the women to enter into the modern age.

As like these social reformers, Islamism and Christianity also have produced a lot of social reformers who also sought to improve the livelihood of people provided it did not antagonize the Shariah law and rules laid out in Quran or the command of the Vatican. The harassment faced by triple talaq activists is testimony to how social reformers are attacked would be treated by Islamists.

So based on the above facts we can summarize the rights of women across religions as below

Hinduism Christianity Islam
Women as Spiritual Masters Women can be a presiding deity in temples Women can never become a leading deity in spiritual process Women are never allowed to become imams in mosque and conduct prayers as per Shariah Law
Women as Rulers and Performing administrative duties Women have all rights to occupy the highest throne during ancient and medieval era itself. No historical data to suggest women led any medieval era kingdom  Introduced law to take over kingdoms in India which does not have male heirs. Women can never occupy the highest throne of the country as per Shariah law. Except for Razia Sultana, no solid evidence exists of women being rulers.
Women as Social Reformers Women has all freedom to change the course of society Women have all freedom to change the course of society. Women have all freedom to change the course of society only if it advocates Shariah law.

Despite the blatant misogyny and oppression that Islam and Christianity preaches, due to an unholy alliance between the left-liberal and Abrahamic religions, they will never criticize about the place of women in these two religions.

While these elements have had a free pass till now, it is time that they get back in equal measure of what they have been giving.

TNM and VCK connive to spread caste hatred, gives Brahmin vs. Dalit spin to petty issue

A security guard of the Sri Subramania Swamy Temple at Tiruchendur was reportedly attacked by one of the priests working at the temple, the video of which has surfaced on social media and local news channels.

The act caught on CCTV camera reportedly happened after a heated exchange between the priest and security guard over a petty issue.

At the Tiruchendur Subramania Swamy Temple, there exists separate queues for ‘free darshan’ and ‘special darshan’. Those with special darshan tickets and VIPs proceed directly through the main gate skipping the serpentine queues which also joins the main gate. On October 30, a judge had come to have a darshan of the Lord through special darshan. When the priest Jeyamalini Kumar had gone to fetch the keys to open the special darshan gate, the security guard had stopped and asked him to get permission from higher authorities. This had resulted in an altercation between the two with the priest losing cool and hitting the guard.

In the CCTV footage, the priest can be seen pushing and hitting the guard while another priest and a police try to stop the two from fighting.

However, a report published by The News Minute twisted the incident into a caste issue saying that a ‘Brahmin’ priest hit a ‘Dalit’ security guard. Though the article mentions about the petty issue over which the altercation happened, it repeatedly emphasizes on the caste identities of the two persons to imply that the guard was hit because he was a Dalit. Also, while it goes on to say how the ‘Brahmin’ priest hit a ‘Dalit’ security guard, it does not stress on the ‘Brahmin’ identity of another priest who tried to stop the two from fighting.

The report also paints a one-sided picture through the words of a man belonging to Thol. Thirumavalavan’s Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). Quoting VCK’s Thoothukudi District Secretary Murasu, it goes on to cast aspersions on the go without substantiating saying that the priest’s act showed the casteist mindset and also levels allegation that the priest had used casteist slurs on a lot of people and also hit another man earlier ‘for using the temple space’ apparently telling him that it was meant for upper castes.

Speaking to The Commune one of the priests at the temple who wished to remain unidentified said that the fight between the two was over a petty issue and that there was no caste angle to it. He said that it was wrong on the part of the priest to have lost his temper and hit the security guard but added that it was a matter of ego clash and a momentary flare up of emotions. “Nobody is justifying what the priest did. It was wrong of him to hit the guard. However, there is no caste angle to this as reported in one report. It is just a matter of ego clash”, the priest said.

Another priest making the same observations said that the two made peace later and the issue was sorted.

When asked about the VCK intervening in the matter and filing a complaint with the police to charge the priest under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, he noted that they are unwarrantedly politicizing the matter when there is nothing to politicize.

Thus, it is apparent that the The News Minute and the VCK are trying to foment caste troubles and furthering a divisive narrative by making a mountain out of a mole hill considering that the VCK head Thol. Thirumavalavan has been facing public ire over his comments on Hinduism and women.

Many on social media called out the news outlet for unnecessarily distorting an individual fight into a caste issue while others bought the story that was published and spewed the usual rhetoric against one particular community.

The Commune found that the said priest Jayamalini Kumar along with the temple Thakkar and other archakas was earlier charged in 2013 for intimidating and threatening to kill a temple official Ganesan. One of the priests who The Commune spoke to also said that the Jeyamalini Kumar often brings people known to him through the special darshan queue much to the annoyance of others. “Many of the priests do so. This needs to be kept in check.”, the priest who did not wish to be named said.

Worst typhoon in years hits Philippines, atleast 10 dead and several injured

At least 10 people have died and several others injured and missing, as Typhoon Goni, the worst typhoon in years wrecked the Philippines. More than 300 houses were buried under volcanic rocks and mud flows from Mayon Volcano in severely hit Albay province in the Bicol region. Storm surges hit some coastal towns, while rivers overflowed and dikes were destroyed, submerging several villages in Bicol.

Goni was downgraded from a “super typhoon” as it swept across the southern end of the most populous island Luzon towards the capital Manila, the state weather forecaster said in its latest update. “Catastrophic violent winds and intense to torrential rainfall would hammer areas in the typhoon’s path, including provinces near the capital”, it warned.

Nearly a million people have been moved to emergency shelters as a precautionary measure. The typhoon has already caused flooding in low-lying areas of Albay and Camarines Sur, especially areas with poor drainage systems. The typhoon forced the authorities to shut the international airport in Manila for 24 hours. The Philippine Coast Guard has imposed a “no sailing policy” leaving thousands of boats stranded at ports.

Goni evoked memories of Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013 that left more than 7,300 people dead and missing, entire flattened villages, swept ships inland, and displaced more than five million in Central Philippines.

Adani takes over Mangaluru airport for the next 50 years

The Mangaluru airport has been leased out to the Adani group for the next 50 years. With this, the Adani group now has acquired over six major airports including Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Jaipur, Mangaluru, and Guwahati.

After an intense bidding process, the government handed over the rights of the airport to the Adani group. On Saturday, in the official statement, the Airport Authority of India said, “In accordance with concession agreement executed on February 14, 2020, AAI handed over handling of Mangaluru @aaimlrairport to @AdaniOnline on lease for 50 years. Exchange of symbolic key held at midnight 00:00 hrs on October 30, 2020.”

The Central Government has been going for privatising airports to attract investments and increase competitiveness in the aviation sector.

While some states were open to the idea of the privatisation of airports, this move was met with a lot of flak in some other states. In Kerala for instance, the decision to make the Thiruvananthapuram airport was met with a lot of protest and dissent from the ruling party and the politicians in the state. Disapproving of the move, the state’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had written a letter to the Centre saying that it had ignored repeated requests from Kerala for entrusting the airport to a special purpose vehicle, with the state as a major stakeholder.

‘Any self respecting rape victim will end her life’, says Kerala Congress Chief Mulappally Ramachandran

Kerala Congress Chief Mulappally Ramachandran while addressing a meeting at the Congress headquarters to commemorate the UDF ‘betrayal day’ said that any rape victim who has self-esteem will kill herself or make sure to not get raped again.

The former Congress MP referring to the woman involved in the solar scandal who recently accused a Congress leader of rape, said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan cannot escape by bringing in a sex worker.

“Every day, this woman would wake up saying she has been raped by someone. The LDF has brought a sex worker as a desperate attempt against the UDF and made her tell tales. Chief Minister, this game will not work, this blackmailing will not work. One can understand when a woman is raped once. But she says she is repeatedly assaulted. A woman with self-respect will either die after she is raped once or will try not to be sexually assaulted again” Mullappally was quoted saying in the reports.

He however tendered his apology soon after.

This is not the first time that Ramachandran has been caught making such sexist comments about women. Earlier had made comments on Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja calling her as ‘COVID Rani’ and ‘Nipah Rajkumari’.
