Taliban looks the other way while Uyghur Muslims fear of being extradited back to China

After the Taliban took over Kabul on August 15 and enforced its will over the people of Afghanistan, a large number of Muslims across the world called it the victory of the Ummah, Islamic community, however, there is now growing unease in the Uyghurs population in Afghanistan who now fear they will be sent back to China.

The Uyghurs living in Afghanistan fear that they will be extradited back to China and then end up in Chinese concentration camps or reeducation camps because of the growing affinity between the Taliban and the Communist state.

After the Taliban Islamists seized control of Afghanistan after US troops were taken out in a hurry, thousands of civilians and foreigners, NGOs are now trying to flee but the country’s estimated 2,000 Uyghurs have no other option except to return to China where they will be seen as secessionist.

There are also reports that the Taliban are now going into homes of people from the Uyghur community and kidnapping girls, Radio Free Asia reported and already there is enough information documenting the complicity of Pakistan and Afghanistan in China’s transnational repression of Uyghurs.

TN Fin Min calls pensions as ‘freebies’ after going back on poll promise, leaves pro-DMK teachers union enraged

The Dravida Munnetra Kazgham (DMK) had promised in its 2021 Assembly elections manifesto that it would revert back to the old pension scheme once it comes to power.

However, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan told the Assembly last week that a decision could not be taken on the implementation of the old pension scheme as the state’s financial situation was dire adding that the government will go bankrupt if it gives everything away for free to everyone.

Not just that, he has now equated pensions with ‘freebies’ which has enraged government school teachers and staff.

In response to this, the Joint Action Council of Teachers Organisation – Government Employees Organisation (JACTO-GEO) has issued a statement condemning Finance Minister’s comments.

The statement said that it was the expectation of government workers who were fully involved in providing relief to people during the COVID-19 pandemic, that the Tamil Nadu government would announce the 11% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) in the recent budget. The announcement that the hike in DA will be given from 1-4-2022 to government employees and teachers has caused great disappointment and shock, the statement said.

They also raised questions over mismatch in figures on government expenditure on salaries mentioned by Palanivel Thiagarajan in his recent interview to a private Tamil channel.

The minister had said in his budget speech that the government was incurring about 19 paise for salaries and 8 paise on pensions for every rupee income. However, during the interview with the channel, the Palanivel Thiagarajan said that government was spending 65 paise on every rupee on salaries and pensions.

The statement said that Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan not only spoke in a way despising teachers and civil servants but also spoke in a way that alienated the public. These comments from the MIT Sloan School of Management educated Finance Minister has caused great animosity among teachers and civil servants.

The In 2006-2007, under revenue expenditure, the salaries were 27.95 per cent and pension benefits stood at 14.32 per cent. It has reduced to 24.92 per cent and 10.50 per cent respectively in 2020-2021. Whereas in the same period, the expenditure on subsidies has shot up from 12.65 per cent to 19.43 per cent.

“Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said in 2002 that 94% of Tamil Nadu’s revenue was spent on salaries and pensions. In addition, he canceled various benefits for teachers and government employees and pledged pension benefits without cash. On that day, Karunanidhi, the Tamil Nadu opposition leader, not only statistically denied that 94% was being spent on pensions, but also said that the ruling government should not consider the salaries and pensions of its teachers and civil servants as a project cost of the state.”, the statement said.

“So, the government employees are in no way the reason for the state government’s financial burden,” the statement added.

The statement also reminded Palanivel Thiagarajan about the protests and agitations supported by MK Stalin who was back then the Leader of Opposition and also the promise it made in the 2021 Assembly elections manifesto. It also mentioned that JACTO-GEO had worked very hard to make DMK come to power and ensure Stalin comes as Chief Minister.

The JACTO-GEO further said that the Finance Minister has taken a stand against teachers-civil servants and has been tasked with fostering a sense of hostility and hatred among the people. It also threatened that this attitude would create a major rift in the DMK regime emphasizing that the body has maintained the long-standing goodwill between the government and teachers and civil servants.

“The JACTO-GEO has full confidence that the Tamil Nadu chief minister will deliver on all his promises.”, it said.

Hindumisic and minority appeasing content found in Tamil Nadu govt school textbooks

In a case of nasty and vicious state indoctrination of children, textbooks prepared and published by the Tamil Nadu government have been found to be propagating ideas against the Hindu faith while blatantly trying to appease Muslims.

These Hindumisic and minority appeasing elements are present in 5th Standard Social Science textbook.

In the chapter named Good Citizen, there is a box item on page 162 which says ‘breaking of white pumpkin’, ‘burning old objects’, ‘submerging idols in waterbodies’, and ‘bursting crackers’ are against the rules and values.

In Tamil Nadu, a pumpkin filled with turmeric, vermillion and few coins is broken on special occasions especially on Ayudha Pooja day during Navratri. It is also done when Hindus buy a new vehicle.

Old objects are burnt on Bhogi, a day before Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu. Vinayagar idols are submerged in waterbodies during Vinayaka Chathurthi and crackers are burst during Deebavali.

By calling these as against ‘rules’ and ‘values’, the Tamil Nadu government seems to be insinuating hatred among children towards the Hindu faith and culture.

On the other hand, there is a pictorial representation in the same page which shows a burqa clad woman tending to a boy child and doing household chores. The boy child can also be seen wearing a skull cap. The text against the image shown is about what good hygiene and behaviour is.

Many on social media have questioned this blatant Hindumisia and minority appeasement. Some pointed out that even if one were to consider it from the perspective of environmental protection, it is outrageous to selectively target one particular religious community leaving out acts like public slaughter of animals, loud speakers that blares every day, cutting of trees, etc.

Taliban denying links with ISIS is similar to Pakistan’s strategy, says President Amrullah Saleh

After the deadly terror attack, allegedly carried out by ISIS-Khorasan at the Kabul airport and the subsequent denouncement by the Taliban, Afghanistan’s President Amrullah Saleh said the Taliban have learnt it from their master Pakistan to deny their links with ISIS.

The Taliban has also blamed America for this attack by saying that the attack took place because of the presence of foreign troops in the airport.

“Every evidence we have in hand shows that IS-K cells have their roots in Talibs & Haqqani network particularly the ones operating in Kabul. Talibs denying links with ISIS is identical/similar to the denial of Pakistan on Quetta Shura. Talibs have learned very well from the master. #Kabul,” Saleh said in a tweet.

President Amrullah Saleh who is now in the Panjshir valley and is the leader of the resistance explained that the Taliban, the Haqqani and the Islamic State-Khorasan province are all together in this.

There are enough reports to suggest that the Haqqani network which is the most radical and violent partner of the Taliban has ties not only with Al Qaeda but also the Islamic State and had carried out some of the deadliest attacks in Afghanistan in the last 20 years. Its leader Jalaluddin Haqqani was once a valuable CIA asset in the 1980s but he later allied with the Taliban and still carried a reward of 5 million dollars.

The twin blasts near Kabul airport could not have come at the worst time because of the deadline set by the Americans as thousands of people are still waiting to get out of the clutches of the Taliban even though the Taliban has made it very clear that it will not allow Afghanistan as a breeding ground for global Jihad terror again.
